So I currently have a Note 2, I am thinking of switching to the RAZR HD but i had a few questions. I do understand that the camera is a bit lackluster on the RAZR when being compared to the HD. I was hoping that someone could let me know how the camera works after the update, also in anyone has switched from the note 2, could you compare the cameras?
Thanks in advance.
I have both phones. Note 2 running JellyBeans and a Razr HD running the 4.1.1 OTA but not the latest to 4.1.2.
I can take pics and upload them later. My Razr HD is for sale btw
If you could upload pics I would appreciate it. While I don't always use the camera, there are times when it is all I have and need a good shot.
Haha, if you are selling yours should I take that as a sign that I shouldn't switch? I'm still deciding, but if I decide to get it I'll consider yours.
Thanks,

I just switched from a note 2 (2nd RAZR day)...and though I do not use camera that often, I don't think the razrs camera is that bad. What you'll miss though is the pen n the huge screen..I miss those..n how easy it is to flash ROMs.. but I've had to learn a lot in 2 days.
I'm on the 4.1.2 version..unlock boot loaders, root etc.
If you flash a lot..like I did with my note 2, you'll miss it. Not that many ROMs with the RAZR...but I must say that I love the RAZR interface much more than touch wiz. .so much that I haven't even considered flashing a different firmware.
I actually gave my note 2 out..it's a great device but I got tired of touch wiz n the whole Samsung design..the RAZR gives me a new feeling. .at least till the next note comes. I hope they change the design.
I'm also trying to get used to the on screen shortcuts.. never used/liked them.
I bought this knowing there is an htc one, an xperia z, an s4 or an xperia t.
it's a great phone..recommend it

Got the Razr HD in a trade for my S3. Great phone but no use for it since I have the Note 2 so it's for sale. Need the money more than a backup phone.

I pretty much agree with everything. You can notice the difference (Note 2 better than Razr HD) in image quality from the pics I uploaded, but I don't expect P&S quality from them. There's very little development for the Razr HD which is unfortunate, I think it's a great phone. Blur is by far the best skin, seems like it's just an icon pack for AOSP. I prefer it to the Galaxy Nexus in terms of user experience. Hundreds of AOSP roms (which are basically all the same) aren't enough to overlook the shortcomings of the Galaxy Nexus.
I prefer the Note 2 because it is a better phone overall. The bigger screen and S-pen are cherries on top.

I appreciate the images, they were a huge help. I actually liked the Razr's pic more that the Note's shot for a few of those. I liked my Galaxy Nexus, my only real complaint was the battery life. I do remember how all the roms were basically the same haha.
I get funny looks when I say this, but the camera on the Nexus was awesome. I was able to get great pictures from that device, (the Rezound takes excellent shots as well). I have decided to get a Razr (even if I just swap back and forth between the note and razr). It will take a little while for me to buy it as my daughter's birthday is coming up, purchase will have to wait a few weeks. If you like you can PM me rergarding your device and we can discuss the purchase of it, just keep in mind it might have to wait a few weeks.
Thanks again, I really appreciate it.

Just a basic question, no trolling. Just wondering what issues people have, and wondering who's leaving it for something else.
Im still intended on keeping this, but if that HTC DNA comes out writing my return period (45 days)I might have to consider that instead.
What issues are people having?
Returning. Camera is terrible. Will either go back to my s3 or wait for the HTC DNA.
If you want a camera, go buy a camera its a phone not a Nikon. Keep that in mind.

It seems like the camera issues are mainly software so I assume they will be fixed. Pocket now did a video sample and it came out great!
Even if the camera gets an update it still won't be as good as the s3, but the large battery makes up for it imho.

Are the developers that are working on the RAZR HD on a different forum or just silent for now?
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
Apparently TWRP from the RAZR M works fine for this (not scaled for an HD screen).
Devs are currently silent, but i suggest you saunter on over to the Dev forum on XDA and check out the JB leak thread.
After 7 days of use, I am on the fence.
With the "Smart Actions" application, I am lasting a day plus on battery alone.
The build quality is solid and like Deus_eps_machina said, it feels good in the palm of your hand.
Although intermittent, I am finding that the radio drops completely when I have full LTE to a red triangle.
With Jellybean around the corner (they're are leaks already), I am hoping that my signal issues are addressed.
If so, I will hold on to this until the next glut of "flagship" devices arrive.
I've never experienced the signal issue, but have been reading about it. Try doing an exchange?
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
Perhaps with the upcoming update a new radio firmware will improve the signal quality? My Razr has been doing great.
Anyway, I'm keeping this girl. I'm on 1d and 15hrs usage with over 4 hours of screen time. My old g-nex wouldn't have been able to touch 1/2 of that battery performance. the only major issue with this phone, as others have pointed out, is the lousy camera. the camera sucks but it isn't a deal breaker.

Its so close to AOSP that I dont think you will be that saddened (at least in the visual sense). With Nova launcher and the stock jelly bean icons, you would be pretty happy IMHO.
its tough for me cuz I have the S3, so its about which one do I want more. Had I not used the s3 I'd think this phone was insane. But I know first hand the camera is well below. And with cm10 and razr m launcher the S3 is basically the same ui.

I would vote this one. 200mAh more, smaller screen and no touchwiz. Spec wise, the note 2 blows this out of the water in every category other than battery size and durability. Reception probably is better on the RAZR too.

The only thing on verizon i would trade for is the droid DNA because of the quad core cpu and 1080p display.
I did exactly that last month. Haven't looked back. But at the same time if I had stuck with the s3 I don't think i would have regretted that either. Razr HD has the great build of aluminum and kevlar, the cool led notification bar under the logo and a nice aosp-ish software build, plus battery life is better. However, run the Razr HD launcher on CM10 on the s3 and thats basically the speed experience you get on the razr. Software stutter included, scrolling left to the quick settings stutters the first time you do it after each unlock, and the camera isn't terrible but is noticeably worse. A little annoying. I'm actually debating going back to the Galaxy nexus for some pure 4.2

GS3 or GN2, anything else is a downgrade!
Maybe you have never owned a Moto. I always have until I bought this GS3 because I vowed to dump them for their locked bootloader BS! I was very sick and tired of the inability to load a custom kernel. Do you want to overclock? Do you want alot of development for your phone? I'm not saying there isn't development for moto, but it's a difficult and time consuming process. You may be looking many many months before you can just overclock. Everything is a pain because you have to work around their kernel which can't be touched. Kexec is still fairly new for Moto and last I checked there was only one custom kernel that could be side loaded for the Razr and devs couldn't figure out how to get the second core to work on the CPU. Obviously this is a hot subject with me lol. My last Moto was the "red headed step child"(BIONIC). Bionic..."The machine of all machines" Motorola's Flagship". Then 2 or 3 weeks later the Razr comes out and claim that the flagship! That was strike one and it continued from there through development struggling. The only thing thats good about Moto is there decent build quality, radios, and when something good finally gets developed for it you just about poop yourself!

i have both in my hands right now....traded my galaxy nexus for the razr HD...i love the build quality of the razr, battery life and the motorola radios..however it lacks the developer support that the s3 has...only a few roms out there....both feel about as fluid and fast as the other...so the main question is are you a crackflasher or not.....thats what it boils down to me....plus the amount of accessories for the s3 compared to the razr
The battery isn't a problem for the GS3 because of the fact you can put in a new battery or extended. The Razr line does have nice build quality but ugly design. To me, I think Samsung does a better job with their software and the camera is a lot better vs Motorola. I haven't notice any worst when it comes to wireless radio going from a Maxx to a GS3. The Wi-Fi is better on my GS3. Even though the newer Motorola phones have that "stock Android" look & feel it doesn't feel optimized yet. It lags from time to time. And the Samsung development is way better. The developers have done awesome work and pretty much negated the locked boot loader. Motorola's development is a joke. There's no reason to get a Motorola phone any time soon in my opinion. They haven't stepped anything up in the last few years except for battery life.
anyone have both? What would you say are the advantages and disadvantages of each? I love battery life and this phone seems to be a perfect fit for that. Both are easily rootable although the galaxy s3 does have a lot more attention and development as far as roms and apps go
The s3 feels cheap....screen scratched the first hour I had it
Also the radio reception sux compared to even the old RAZR
The only thing the s3 has on the RAZR is more devs and ROMs
That's it....and even with the most bad a$$ ROM on the s3 ...still doesn't keep up with a bone stock razr HD
Hope that helps

I use a Razr Maxx HD and my daughter has a GS3. While both devices are easy to root, only the GS3 has an easily unlockable bootloader. That makes it a lot easier to load new ROMs on the Samsung. That's why you have so much more ROM development on the GS3.
On the other hand, the build quality of the Razr is vastly superior to the GS3 and the battery life is much better. If you are partial to stock Android, the Moto software is much closer to the AOSP although it does come with a bunch of VZW bloat apps. Fortunately even with a stock unrooted ROM, since ICS, Google has provided the ability to disable built-in apps which you can do with all of the bloat.
I bought my daughter the GS3 last June and upgraded my phone in November because I preferred what Moto had built despite the limitations of the locked bootloader.
build quality on RAZR HD is definitely superior, and battery life slaps the s3. As with all Samsung's they are much easier to root and install custom ROMs, so there is a trade off

So you're saying the stock rom is much better on the razr? No bloatware? Like a Nexus?
Also your profile pic is insane. Insanely cool and insane.
I'm going to steal it.
The S3 does feel cheap, but geez Samsung have really worked on Touchwiz to make it ultra smooth. Can't say the same for the HD, its laggy as h3ll unless you change the launcher.
I'm not sure how icenight89 came to the conclusion that the "battery life slaps the s3" because I get about 1.5 days out of the HD, and over 2 on the SGSIII (I have the quad core non LTE SGSIII BTW). Although my Razr HD is LTE (4G) equipped, I only use it on 3G+ networks so its a fair comparison.
The thing that really blows the SGSIII away is the Razr HD build materials. So if you can deal with some lag, get the HD. I ended up downloading the Android 4.1 Jellybean Launcher off play store and it works a treat (FC and lag free). I just wish the Moto circles widget worked with aftermarket launchers though......
The thing that really blows the Razr HD away is the SGSIII screen. Being a non-pentile display, and with multiple contrast options, it bests the HD screen which is heavily saturated.
I also have the Nexus 4, which is a powerhouse and awesome build quality, but geez the SLCD screen is 5hithouse!!!
I almost got the SG3 it's a nice phone and a tremendous amount of Development on the phone which is a great plus. I was just watching a Youtube commercial displaying the SG4 here's the clip go to Youtube and enter v=p5YPaBkhKZI in search bar (under 10 posts). The SG4 looks like the same as the SG3, and if interest is growing as early as it is now, an SG3 is considered, more than outdated. Certainly, wouldn't want to start a 2 year contract when my elgibile upgrade would be an SG6.
In my opinion, Motorola has more to offer than Gorilla Glass and plastic. These are solid phones, I'll shatter SG3 with my MAXX HD. I can go on two days without a charge. Motorola is a sleeper and one to watch, and where I would rather place my money.

I rooted, cm10'd and modified a RAZR HD for a buddy and he's running 2 1/2 days with Facebook and email background syncing plus other apps, including over 3 hours on screen time. When u can manage that with an s3 come talk to me.
An LTE equipped phone connected to 3g+ network is NOT a fair comparison, because although the lte radio is not active, its still enabled, causing more current pull than your non-lte s3, sorry bud.
So with taxes I'm looking to spend about $350 on a phone with no contact. I WAS thinking the nexus 4 but people on craigslist are retarded asking $500+ because people bought out the play store with the intentions of reselling and ripping people off. So other than that I was thinking of getting an s3 or a note 1, possibly a one x.
My questions are, which carrier version, and which one should I get. I want one that I could use on family mobile with better speeds, maybe simple mobile or something. I'm into rooting and roms and overall best specs out there. So which phone should I get in that price range, and which carrier version? Processor and ppi as well as camera is most important to me.

Personally, the Note is a little on the large side for a phone, however, some people like it. Would suggest that you get some extended hands on time with it out before buying. S3 has good feedback except for the build materials (i.e. drop and chip) and is roughly the form factor that I would be comfortable with and there is quite a bit of ROM development for it. A friend uses a Note 1 and swears by it, connects it up as a laptop at home with keyboard, mouse and monitor (his portable office). Haven't had a chance to test out the OneX but what I have read on the forums are that it has good battery life, solid performance and since it is basically stock, updates are quick. Just got WP8 as a xmas gift, from an SGS2. Don't recommend it, until they fix some pretty fundamental missing features but the camera is by far the best I have seen so far.

I've had nothing but good experiences with Samsung phones. Have a GS2 skyrocket and it's an awesome phone. ROM support is strong, and definitely affordable on your budget.
i would buy the htc one x+. i really like the htc os. a few years ago i bought the htc desire hd and i've never regretted it. so why not switching to another phone by htc
HTC One X looks very cute. But I heard about screen problems. I am most interested in Nexus 4, however it's not available in my country, but I would recommend it. I love that Nexus 4 has stock Android.
HTC one xl owner here....absolutely no screen problems. Gorgeous screen, great ROMs with great devs, great camera and battery life and you will find some at a very nice price. Only downside is storage and no external SD slot.
Funny u mention screen problems as I've heard the nexus 4 has some.
This phone is really good, not cheaply build like the s3 and personally I feel its better (hence why I chose it over the s3)
Oh and BTW our phones are pretty much unbrickable, flashing ROMs is a breeze and rooting can be done with a downloadable script. And they do t suffer from gs3 problems which they seem to be having plenty of.

Well, at the time of release, that was the feeling wasn't it . A 18% (I think off hand) increase in screen with a 25% increase in battery. So yea, it is basically an S2. 0.2GHz more and most everything else is the same.

HTC One X looks very cute. But I heard about screen problems. I am most interested in Nexus 4, however it's not available in my country, but I would recommend it. I love that Nexus 4 has stock Android.

So my upgrade is in a couple of weeks. I have been deciding from The htc droid dna, Samsung Galaxy Note 2, or this phone. What are your opinions on this phone or problems you have noticed?

Ooh nice choices. I've only used the s3 out of the 3 but it's really nice. I haven't had any problems with it and it has a good selection of roms / kernels.
All Q's go in Q&A
Since you were looking for a general opinion I edited your title

I absolutely love this phone. Running carbon rom with it. Lots of great development here and good hardware. Perfect size for me too.
My opinion

Gnote 2 > GS3 >>>>>> Droid DNA (battery life is just putrid on the DNA)
I've owned my share of phones and the GS3 is the first phone that has cured my flashaholicism.. I am running cleanRom 4.5 and it just works. Battery life is all you can ask for and the phone has all the capabilities of any other phone. I have been 100% happy with this phone and have not had any desire to upgrade to anything else. With that being said, it is 8 months old and the S4 and HTC One are coming. At this stage, you may be best waiting for one of those two.
gs3 is good, the note 2 is great...I wont comment on the dna, waste of time and effort.
I prefer the S3. The Note 2 is nice, but it's definitely not a pocket phone. Wouldn't even consider the DNA.
The GS3 and Note 2 require cases due to their fragility. Performance wise they're both adequate. Expect occasional lags and Bluetooth routing issues when a headset is plugged in (SoundAbout paid app on the market fixes this) unless you use AOSP based ROMs which still have a litany of quirks and issues for both devices. Note 2 is a giant phone, but the added utility with the pen makes up for it.
Edit/addendum:
DNA shouldn't even be a consideration IMO. Android isn't quite ready for 1080p on the app side and the benefits of the faster hardware are lost due to the vastly increased pixel count. 16GB of non-expandable storage is a joke. Battery life is similar to the GS3 so I won't complain there. The device isn't officially supported by CM and probably won't be, unlike the GS3 and Note 2. Be prepared to love sense if you go this route.

I would wait for the gs4

Really after changing to android i got this S3 i cant remove my hands of it lol!
I really like my S3. I'm currently running Beans 11 and like it.
I'm happy with my s3. And if your into rooting and installing roms, it's a great one to play with. Odin makes this phone unbrickable.
The note is just too big, IMHO.
I'm a.d.d so I like to change to something new every few months, unfortunately I'm out of upgrades.. I ran stock touchwiz for the last month and installed an AOSP room last night so I'm happy again for the time being.

Owning the S3 for a while now it really makes me wish Verizon will carry another Nexus device. I was addicted to the S3 at first but it kind of just wore off now. If the Verizon Galaxy Nexus did not have so many flaws in it I would have never left it.
There is no experience like a Nexus experience!
Between the phones you are asking about, if the size of the Note 2 does not bother you then I would go for that. If it is to big, which for me it is I would then go to the S3. Wouldn't even consider the DNA. Actually at this point in time I wouldn't really consider anything from HTC. They have really went to crap and it just seems like they are recycling their same phones over and over again.
Might as well hold out for the sg4
If you are looking to run a stock phone for awhile, I would wait for the S4, but if you want root and have pages and pages of ROMs to continually try, then the S3 is the way to go.
For the guys saying there getting great battery how many ours are you getting?
This phone is awesome! I haven't been able to put it down. I'm using liquidsmooth ROM and I love it. I just wish I could get more battery life but just like I said I haven't put it down since buying it.
The GS3 is great, I have the otterbox commuter and can still easily stick it in my pocket, the note 2 not so much however they are both great phones. If I could choose now, i;d wait and see what the specs on the Ubuntu Phone will be like and compare them to the GS4.
Love it. No real problems here.
