[Q] Low exposure front facing camera - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
My front facing camera is unusable on the TF300T at the default exposure setting, such that I can just about make out my silhouette but it isn't very clear. If up the exposure to +2 it works, but I would like to be able to up the exposure further as it still seems too dark
Has anyone else experienced this problem, or a way to fix it?
The rear camera works fine. I am running Cleanrom 3.3
Cheers
EDIT: After some more searching have found that this is a problem with a number of kernels on Cleanrom,

Yep. Any TF700 kernel or any kernel built with TF700 source will give this issue. Thank you for using search btw i like you

I can confirm that... I'm on Endymion currently and i see the purple line too... approx 3-4 pixels thick.
But to be fair to instagram, they do warn when selecting the advanced camera that it does not work on all devices...
Use Camera360 with Compatibility mode.

??? Why not just use the built in stock camera???
He wants to use instagram... And only has problem with the advanced camera inside of instagram. Just disable that option and you're good to go if your stock camera is OK. No sense using a third party camera of the problem is app specific.

The problem is with camera drivers from cm or the kernel.
The stock camera app has same problem.
That's why I use camera360 which have hardware compatibility mode.
Regards!

Oh ok...
Just wondering... are you talking about an ICS ROM? Or GB? I think the OP has lost interest after starting the thread, and left us here to squabble!!
If you ask me, i think this problem is app centred, and I encountered it even on Instagram running on GB 2.3.5 (I'm running Endymion - Sense 3.5) where the stock camera is the best you'll find for the Desire S on any ROM.
I'm using stock ROM. Obviously I'm aware I can disable the option of using Instagram's in-built camera, but this is not the solution I'm hoping for I love Instagram filters but I don't like the fact I have to come out of the app and open up stock Android cam app, resize it, and go back again. Using Instagram's advanced am feature is so much better.
The rest of the image is fine and the option works perfectly APART from this one really ruining fluorescent pink line down the left side of every image.

Well, that's a bug with the app... sit tight, with Instagram's growing popularity, they're bound to roll out updates with fixes to the camera anytime soon!
Regardless, there's nothing you or I could do to fix an app issue. Instagram will have to fix that.
When you still experiencing this using Instagram camera try to switch to front camera take a shot, then revert to back camera. Pink line gone now. Works for me.

AOSP roms and front facing camera

I have posted about this in specific rom threads without an answer.
Is it normal right now for the front facing camera to show up distorted (flattened out and fat) when using the front facing camera.
Every AOSP rom I have tried (cm10, aokp, brickbeatz, etc...) all have the distorted front camera image.
Wondering if its just something in the code that hasnt or cant be fixed.
thanks
Same. I'm pretty sure it's a known bug. Otherwise, we're just unlucky.
It looks like that for me. But I have noticed when you take a picture and view it in gallery it goes back to normal resolution.

[Q] Any way to disable HTC camera image processing?

Hey guys,
I recently noticed that the One XL camera is doing some post-processing after the image is taken. It sharpens and brightens the photos, but also leaves them looking washed out. I've always thought that darker One XL photos looked a little washed out when posted on Facebook or Instagram.
This is especially evident when using the review feature in the Sense camera. When you take a photo, the one shot being reviewed looks sharp with a good contrast. But if you immediately open the photo that's in the gallery, you'll see the difference immediately.
Now, I'm wondering if there is any way to disable this? It seems to also happen in CM10, so it might be a hardware feature.
What ROM are you running currently?
I've never experienced this to be honest

I was running Newts JB and now I'm on CM10 with the same issue. Did you by any chance try the sequence I explained and notice any difference?

Camera Picture/Video Quality

When taking pictures or videos, the result is always really, grainy, you could say. Anyone have a clue why so? I mean, it is supposed to be a 8 MP camera and a full HD screen. Is there anyway to improve the quality?

Are there camera apps to get better results?
There are several things:
1) Stock camera app is rather crap. Try another, I'd suggest Camera FV-5
2) Auto mode = NO. Anything set to auto is going to be of less quality than manual.
3) On a 16:9 ratio, you CANT use the full 8MP. 6M, at most.
4) ISO quality. The lower the number, the less grain, but a longer shutter speed.
5) _that already said it, more light.
Tylor,
If I may add also...another app I had found useful is "Shot Control"
For $2.99 usd it has been a good camera add-on.
