So... I bought an unlock code because ATT was being an asshat and refused to give me an unlock code despite their promise to give me one.
I bought the code from cellunlocker, and I've tried all the methods except using a different sim. They all give me the same result: "The old pin you typed is not correct".
Do I have to use a different sim or is something terribly wrong with my phone? I'm going to China next week and I plan to use my phone.

Tmo or simple mobile. Simple mobile sims are just a dollar on ebay or about 2-5 in craigslist. That is of course if you dont have friends on tmo.

Still doesn't work! I've tried all the methods! D:

SIM/carrier unlock should be different from bootloader unlock?
Do we have a way of getting this phones unlock code - or does this not apply to this device?
..CDMA device. Regardless if unlocked for another SP will not work on a GSM locked network in the US. GSM networks system will not recognize the CDMA IMEI.
so i bought this htc one x off a guy online and when i go to put in my sim card it worked fine the first couple of days i unlocked it the first day cause i have tmobile and everything was great a few days back i put in my sim card and it said that there is a mm#6 and it wont accept my sim card phone turns on and works fine just wont accept my tmobile service. is there any thing i can do i tried to root but its on 4.0.4 and there is no root if you have any soltuons or know a way to fix or work around please let me know it GREATLY APPRECIATED thanks!!

One would assume you bought it at a very cheap price, that should ring some bells
Regardless you bought a stolen phone from a obviously bad seller off the internet with no way of getting your money back
And you're asking us if we can help you make that stolen phone usable, what's to say you actually stole that phone? We don't know that

Obviously, thieves would try to call them and claim they "bought" a phone from somewhere and it was blacklisted. Even if what you are saying is true, you have no way of proving it. And AT&T has no obligation to make a phone work that wasn't purchased directly from them. So no, I doubt that would work.

That isn't remotely what he said. He said don't buy from unknown sources, especially using a transaction type where you have no method of recourse if the seller screws you.
Okay so I bought a AT&T htc one x. I rooted the phone. Unlocked the boot loader. Now on rebel rom. I put my tmobile SIM card in the phone and it gives me no reception. At all. And says no service. I went to the settings and mobile data, than did network operators. Did select automatically. And says "unable to connect to network at this time, please try again." So than I did search networks. All it pulls up is AT&T and US. So I got curious and tried us and it had no positive return. Now I need help as I seriously just got this phone yesterday and it sucks its just sitting here now. And no I have no phone. Any help would be appreciated.
did you SIM unlock it?
I SIM unlocked mine, and got no reception, but I didn't have a chance to change APNs and such.

Yeah I bought the sim unlock code prior to rooting with success on stock sense but still never had reception.
Update: I disassembled the phone to check the cables to see if any were loose or damaged and to find out that ALL antenna cables are in tact in good shape, connected perfectly and everything, so I know that this is a issue within the software of the phone. I did use an unlock code on the stock os and when I didn't get reception than is when I rooted the phone with still no change. Any help is appreciated thank you!
You still haven't mentioned if you changed your APN settings.
Same thing happened with me last night, but on an iPhone. Just won't get service no matter what SIM I put in.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I did have the apns how they're suppose to be. And I put my sim back in my iPhone and it works fine. Its just every time I put my sim in this phone it will not work. Still really confused because hardware is fine.

What this person said....you have to change apn settings, also did you trim your tmoblie SIM card down to make it fit? Technically if apn if changed and you have a working tmobile SIM it shouldn't be possible to pick up att. Also did you try using it it case icons are saying att but signal is tmobile. You should be able to check what band you are on to verify.....good luck on your quest

Craigslist..? Got an att sim to check out? Maybe a quick call to at&t to verify the imei is not blacklisted if you haven't already

Yes. It was blacklisted sadly. This is why I hate craigslist. I got ripped off. Now I understand why it was so cheap compared to the other ones. I guess it was kinda my fault. Thanks guys for all your suggestions.

It really wasn't what I was hoping. But it sucks they do that but they do what they gotta do. I'm just sol on this phone. Taking a $200 loss. But I think I may just part the phone out considering the screen is brand new and the parts are pricey now days. Well. Not to sure what I'm gonna do with it yet actually. But hopefully something beneficial.

Hi guys.
So i was given an cdma S3 as a present.
Now I do not know what network it belongs to.
Is there a way I can
a) Find out if its verizon or sprint?
b) Unlock it ?
c) wild question.... Can it be changed to GSM
Thanks
To find out the carrier that it belongs to: Settings - About Phone - Model Number. Go to Google and then type in the model number ... Voila! You cannot switch to GSM.

You can use a CDMA S3 on GSM networks. I am using one right now. If you pop your GSM SIM card in the phone, you will have service to make calls and text. Getting data is a bit trickier.

From what I've read, Sprint does not use Sim cards. I could be wrong though.

The lte sim card is built in, under the center mid cover. Unfortunately, I have never tried to rrplace one with a prepaid.
I can, and have, flashed them to boost mobile and page plus. Talk and text is easy using wifi to update the profile, but data better than 1x is trickier, and requires a "friend".
