the problem is: does aluminum scratches the phone?

it does not look like it has the cut out for the pogo pins ,so that would be useless

I have the dock (was in the box in Japan) and have been looking around for a case compatible with it.
The truth is that even 0.35mm thick cases are not compatible.
I am of course talking about cases that covers the sides and back of the phone.
Cases of this thickness have been tested and reported as non-compatible by Japanese users. They still require to push very hard on the phone to fit into the dock and it is hard to take it out after that.

I've also got a brodit car holder that uses the pogo pins.
So for me its even worse, not only does the case have to fit with the dock, but also the car holder.
And all these superthin cases are not cheap, don't want to drop 30 bucks USD on an experiment.

Case compatible dock
I just came across a dock on Ebay UK that has a removable section to allow the extra width needed for case's.
Ive ordered it so will report back when it arrives, from Hong Kong so may not be quick.
Excellent idea tho, something Sony should pick-up on maybe.

Wow, nice, have got an link for us?

Looks awesome, but do the ...prongs reach the phone thru the case? All my googling found nothing on this particular on this dock. Can't wait for the link, as well.

Cant post links yet, search eBay UK for "xperia z case dock" it'll be about 3 down

So I'm sure some of us have seen the aluminum cases/bumpers for the Z. Well, this is the first time I've seen one with the docking port (or whatever) exposed.

Except that I don't want gold, and rather'd have the bumper, not the case, this looks promising.

Exactly. I think I'll see if I can contact them to find if they have others like the gold one (maybe w/o the back). And, if anything, the aluminum bumper/case might fit into the expandable dock, mentioned on here, earlier.

Expandable dock won't be shipped to the Netherlands

Dock arrived this morning, and looks pretty impressive.
Dimesionally, it is exactly the same as the DK26 dock from Sony, the removable sleeve (to allow extra thickness for cases) is approx 1mm+ thick and very nicely
built into the unit - and easy to remove.
The charging pins are more than long enough to cope with a case as they are spring loaded.
Also, this dock also allows for charging from my laptop (DK26 does not work from a USB) which is handy.
TBH for the price difference - 6.99 compared with 25.00 for the DK26, and the abilty to charge from pc, and use with a case ......its a no brainer really.
Only critisism i can make really, is the springy prongs (Not the charger ones) that hold the phone are a little stiff, which may case problems with gel cases etc. that will try to drag rather than push. Although these will probably free up more with use.
overall, for seven quid, you cant go wrong.
I also own the DK26 and thouroughly wish id of seen this first.
EDIT:
Just took it apart and pulled out the springs, now its smooth as. A highly recommended mod.
Phone now just drops into place nicely, regardless of case.

The bumper cases still wont fit, it has to be a thin profile case.
Removing the insert only gives you just over 1.5mm of clearance, so cases still need to be thin as can be. But there are quite a few out there with the slot for dock pins.

Here are the two cases I ordered from Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Execu...B8/ref=sr_1_27?ie=UTF8&qid=1304884118&sr=8-27
They both fit horrible, they weren't made for the G2X. You could fit two in there and still have space!
This is the one I have. Phone fits perfectly, no model number but it looks almost identical to the picture someone posted above. Maybe mine was just made a little slimmer?
Careful with magnetic cases. The magnet can cause the phone to do some quirky things. Throwing off the GPS I know is one example.

very nice case. looks good. my only criticism is that the headphone jack isn't available when the phone is in the case
I posted a mini-review of such a case in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1050581. After using it for a couple of weeks, I'm still happy with it. It is exactly the right size for the phone -- neither too tight nor too loose. The only issue with it is that it has a magnetic closure, which puts the phone into car dock mode occasionally. I've used Spider Launcher to mitigate the effects by having it launch Launcher instead of Car Home when the car dock is detected.

SkyRocket Dock Charger?

Are their any Skyrocket Dock chargers out their? I have searched high and low and can not find any...
I found a universal one online the other day that would be perfect.
Here it is:

I bought the spare battery system from Amazon.
Part: ET-CGPK004GSTA
Came with a NFC-capable Samsung battery and stand, I put my phone in portrait with it plugged in and can use the AirDroid application to send messages.
looking too
Since they put the usb port on the bottom, I am guessing they want to expand to have speakers, alarm clocks and everything else you can dock these phones in. I am guessing that companies that make this stuff will take a while to get these products out. I'm tired of seeing every type of docking station for iPods.
Hopefully there are making this location standard on all the new phones so it could be more universal to fit most android phones.
If anyone finds anything I hope they will post to this thread!

Yeah, thanks for posting that nexendz. I started a similar thread here with some other options but have yet to find something right. Right now I'm using a business card holder with some foam stick on pads as a stand with the stock charger, although that costs about the same as that Zenis dock.

Removed 3mm overall from the sides to fit case. Now fits the sides but didn't account for the back so it's a bit tight but I don't mind as it keeps it well seated. It is hollow behind the plastic so you will see the void behind it but since the phone will be in the stand it shouldn't matter, at least it's not white plastic painted black which would look worse.
Thanks!

Minisuit / Poetic cases redesigned for Infinity.

They have redesigned the Minisuit and the Poetic 2 piece cases and put the cutouts in the right spots. Of the two, I grabbed the Minisuit, since I have had both for the Prime, and there were almost identical - granted the Poetic is a TINY bit better, but nothing substantial. They are both "PU Leather" (look it up on Wiki - Modern technology permits up to three or four horizontal layers being taken from a single hide. The leather used in the backing of bicast or PU Leather is a thin layer, remaining after other layers have been removed for traditional leather work They actually have to dye a leather pattern back onto it for lighter colors, this is why I avoid the browns, even if they look... okay, they are not very natural real looking.
After this they coat this thin, THIN split leather with a layer of polyurethane applied to the surface and then embossed (to have a texture)
For the money? Its damn nice, feels super soft, shines beautifully (try Pledge, which list leather as one of its applications- shines really nice)
Anyway the MiniSuit is $11.95
http://www.amazon.com/MiniSuit-Tran...words=minisuit+case+asus+transformer+infinity
And the Poetic is 18.95
http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Transf...words=minisuit+case+asus+transformer+infinity
- At these prices, you can't go very wrong, and they do protect your tablet and dock. They do make it thick as a big phone book though, LOL! I usually only "sheath" my Infinity when traveling or taking it outside the house.
I received my Poetic today from Amazon. As the previous poster stated when closed out its thick as a phonebook. However, for 18+ bucks this is a very nice case.

It seems nice and practical. Have to protect our baby
Can't understand why it is taking them until the 22 october to have it shipped to sweden.......
I was wondering if something like this existed. Last time I looked at the thread, I didn't noticed what I was looking for but this time I did.
I want the Dock easily removable, so I can, say, leave it in the car to be charged as I am running around on foot, using hte tablet in standalone mode only. I seems like either of these cases do exactly that, with what seems simple snaps that hold the dock part to the rest of the case.
Question - what exactly is the difference between the MiniSuit and the Poetic?

Ok so i got the Poetic delivered by mail today 6 days from US to Sweden, that was faster than i expected!!
Actualy you can snap off the keybord and that is easy with 2 simple snaps.
The drawback with that is that you loose a good method of closing it if you drop it, there should be some easy snapping for closing it.
I will attach that function by my self as it should be easy to do. and half the solution is in place already from where the keybord dock snappers are in place. Yes the Poetic case brings a little extra weight but on the other hand it protects the pad quite nice i think, and it looks good!
SD-Card can be reached aswell as USB, MicroSD, charging and camera. The keybord dock was not easy to fit in because the strappers are in the way, so i simply didn't attach them they aren't realy needed. I use the snappers only when i detach the keybord from the tablet and want to hold it in place.
Sorry for my english, but i hope you understand what i mean.
Best regards
Mackis

RND Nexus 4 dock review

Hey guys, I bought this Nexus 4 dock on Amazon and received it today. It's specifically designed for the Nexus 4 and fits like a glove. It is currently OOS but this dock looks exactly the same and is $10 cheaper than what I paid. D'oh! The dock works with or without a case thanks to a little insert that changes the size of the dock port. I tested the dock with my Diztronic TPU case and without.
What I like about the dock:
Plain and understated design with no logos or blinky LEDs
Matches the Nexus 4 with or without case perfectly
Works with or without a case
The N4 slides onto the micro usb port with little hassle. I think this will end my attempts to put in the micro usb cable upside down in the dark before falling asleep.
Surprisingly, the speaker doesn't sound too muffled despite being covered by the dock. I was able to comfortably have a conversation over speakerphone and watched a couple YouTube videos without issue.
You can lightly tap things on the screen without it tipping over
Charging works fine thus far. You can also plug it into a computer USB port to sync stuff
Cheap, at least compared to a Qi charger
What I don't like:
You need to hold the base with one hand to pull out the N4. It's made out of hollow plastic. A heavier, more solid feel would be nice, but the base would probably have to be made out of iron to slide out the N4 with one hand.
Included USB cable is short, around 3 feet long
Included wall charger works, but looks and feels cheap. I just plugged in my OEM charger instead
Here's a flickr set of some additional pics I took of the dock.
I'd highly recommend this little guy. IMO, current Qi chargers aren't worth the high cost for the extra convenience they provide. This dock strikes a better balance of convenience and price, and doesn't scrap too much on quality where it counts.
Looks decent. I had something similar for my old Evo. Be interesting to compare to the new Orb one. I just like the idea of magnets doing the work and not worrying about misalignment of the usb port.

Agreed, the orb charger looks ideal. That said, I don't think that this dock will hurt my micro usb connector - I can dock it with far less fuss than connecting the wire manually. But maybe that's just me and my poor hand-eye coordination. :highfive:
This looks ideal. Does anyone have a link to order one from Hong Kong? I have much better luck ordering from there to Canada than I do from the US...

A question to the OP, I noticed from your pics that you were able to use the dock whilst the Nexus was in a Distronic case...was this a comfortable fit? I have bought the Ringke Fusion which is similar in shape to the case you're using.

Yep, the Diztronic case fit perfectly. Not too snug, not too loose. The phone slides down to the USB connector just by gravity alone. You then push the phone down a little and it locks in.

I own 2 of the RND docks, one for an HTC Inspire and one for the Galaxy Note. I went to buy one for the Nexus 4 but it was out of stock then Google had the Orb so I ordered that instead (a lot more expensive but I need to keep the phone for 2 years at least so might as well enjoy it). I really do like these docks, they are very easy to drop your phone into, holds it at a very nice angle and I have never worried about damaging my USB port with it (unlike the Samsung Car Dock which always worried me).
I may still buy one of these for travel as they are small and seem to pack up well. I cant speak to this one specifically as I don't own it but if it is anything like the other two I have it is a very well build product. The one thing that has me a bit concerned is the statement about the cables. The cable they shipped with the old ones were definitely not short, I use one in my bedroom and it is about 6' long. They used to ship a long charge only cable and a shorter data cable, maybe they stopped doing that.
@rmgill Just wanted to thank you again for the recommendation. I bought the cheaper version you linked to in the OP and it appears to be the same as the more expensive one you bought. Very nice dock and killer price. Unfortunately, they're out of stock or I'd pick up another one for my desk at work.
I have a Ringke slim case on it and it slides into the dock with just the right amount of tension. Doesn't feel flimsy or particularly cheap and the back supports it well enough that I don't worry about the microUSB port getting damaged. Definitely recommend it.

I would have to say the ibolt xprodock I was iffy about paying $40 but it's so worth it. It fits any case. I'm using it With cygnett workmate. It can fit a note 2 with otterbox and still have room for more. It has charger and automatically starts car dock mode when u download an app for it. I agree with all of this. There's a iBolt thread in this forum where a bunch of other GS4 users have made posts. It's an excellent product, and their customer support is great.

Is samsung not making an official car mount for the s4? I was upset when I saw that there wasnt one

Samsung does have one and it is available at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...TF8&qid=1369347219&sr=8-1&keywords=ECS-K200BE
However you have to pay the Samsung price if you know what I mean
Another vote for the iBolt dock. Secure, functions well, doesn't obscure the camera, lets the S4 in a Trident Kraken/Otterbox Defender fit, etc... pricey but worth it IMHO.
I was looking at that one too. Is there any chance someone has the neo hybrid case and could check to see if the usb can even be connected on the dock?

I can confirm that case does not fit charger...only problem I did have you can just change usb on the dock itself tho

It does not fit, but you can shave down soft plastic of the iBolt connector pretty easily with a x-acto/hobby knife. Or any sharp knife really. Took me 1-2 minutes to do. See my post with pictures here:

There's also a bunch of other useful info about the iBolt dock in that thread.
I'm a big fan of these

It mounts securely and it solid and it's easy to clip and unclip the phone one handed. Adjustment is also one handed via push buttons and you can rotate it to and from landscape without changing your adjustments. My S4 will be my third phone to occupy the mount.

I've tried all the better model of car docks and the Craigsdocks dock is by far the best, IMO.
http://www.craigsdocks.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-s4-note-ii-car-dock/
Charges, secure holding. Can put the phone in and remove it, all with one hand. No putting it in the dock and then plugging in the USB cable. Nope, this one is all done in one easy motion with just one hand.
A bit more $$, but it will work with any Samsung Galaxy phone. S2, S3, S4, Note II. So it's pretty much future proof as long as Samsung keeps putting the USB port on the bottom of the phone.
It also works with extended batteries and large cases. And billet aluminum. I just can't really say enough good things about this dock.

WOW....... umm, I'm very impressed! Going to contact them and see if they'll send me a demo unit to review! GREAT find, thanks for posting
The car and desktop docks from Craig look great. A bit pricey. I wonder if the car dock can be attached to my proclips base.

That's exactly what I was going to do, right flat on the base with industrial strength Velcro tape - don't use screws, just Velcro that thing right to it and it should work just fine that way, the CraigsDock has a very flat base on the back of it and would work great with the flat face of the ProClip vehicle mount! Just make sure to get all the screws set first, obviously, or else you'll have to peal back the one side of Velcro just to get to it. Use Velcro tape and not double-sided tape because then you can't work with it quickly or switch out components when you get a new phone as easily! PROTIP :good:
Has anyone here tried out a magnetic mount?
I really like the iOttie One Touch XL that I just got. It has a very strong suction cup and an easy one click lock/release mechanism.
I got it on a sale from Meritline.
I'd also tried another iOttie that's more compact. While the S4 fits it, it's near the end of the range so it's more of a two handed operation to put the phone in the holder. I much prefer the Easy One Touch linked above.
I've had an iottie. Works ok but with my galaxy s4 my phones has fell out a couple times. Worth the extra money for ibolt

I have the samsung universal car mount. It worked well with my S3 and now with my S4.
