I wanted to root my father in-laws lg optimus u but I can't seem to find a forum for it. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!

Yes i think it should, ive rooted and im running gingerbread on my phone thanks to the xda forum members.
BTW the link was to the lg gt540 forum, if thats the lg opitimus you are referring to.

Stock rom!

Hey i bet this has been asked before and there is a thread for it,but im looking for the stock lg O3D rom that i can run through rom mamager so its likr i have a new phone

I have one based on v20c. Flashing it will bring you to near stock. You will still be rooted. I will upload tonight once I'm home from work.

hi guys, since im new to this kind of phone, I would like to ask something about roms or kernel.
are roms and kernel the same.?
what is the latest rom or kernel for su760.?
are roms for p920 compatible with su760.?

To answer one of your questions. No a rom Is not the same as a kernel. Though they go hand and.hand.

Porting Custom rom O3DMax!

Hello everyone
I just wanted to announce that I am going to port a 2.3.6 custom rom from Optimus 3D to Optimus 3D MAX (P720).
EDIT:
I sold it, so I can't work anymore on it.

Why are u gonna do that?
Optimus 3D gingerbread rom are HORRIBLE!
BTW the lastest official Optimus 3D (p920) rom is Android 2.3.5 based.

Oh I didn't know that
But... I just hate to keep using that stock rom.
So to learn porting I'll try to port a o3d rom for o3dmax even if I don't have benefits from it ;D
EDIT: Of course if there is any custom rom running 2.3.6

i currently have a bricked O3DMax and you porting it would help me alot!!!.
even a partition dump from your working device would also help!

Update to which rom?

Recently, i've just bought this O3D with clean unrooted froyo rom (2.2.2)
I really want to update it first to gingerbread (2.3.5)
But recently i have seen a lot ICS rom in here and.rarely have seen any guide to gingerbread.
What i need to know is, can i upgrade mine into ICS from froyo, or should i update it first to gingerbread?
And how to update it.

you can directly update your phone with official lg flashtool, there is already an official ics

Search the forum and read.
In short, chose a v30 rom and download from here, then find in the forum the offline kdz installer.

just download the official lg tool from lg.com. you didnt need to flash kdz. download the tool, connect the phone install drivers and click on start update finished
