Why does samsung produce 2 variants of the gs4 one with the*1.6 GHz Exynos 5 Octa eight-core processor and*1.9 GHz Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor? I know that they do this because of LTE and HSP+ but why cant they make a chip that is the same but just with LTE or HSP+ or both? I hate how they do this because I always get stuck with the us variant which usually isnt as good and imagine the dev support if their was only one variant so you*wouldn't*have to have a bunch of versions with*different*dev support

If you have the choice, go with the S3. It has an enormous developer community, and it's one of the (arguably the) best smartphones on the market.
That said, there are several different models of the S3 to choose from. The US variants have dual core processors and 2 GB of RAM. The international variant has a quad core Exynos processor and 1 GB of RAM. Given the option, try to get your hands on the Korean variant, which has the best of both worlds. Quad core Exynos processor and 2 GB of RAM.
So I am going to get an unlocked S3, but the US version is a dual-core with 2GB ram,
and the international version is a quad-core with 1GB of ram.
I use my phone extensively, like hotspots on, while phone calls, texts, browsing, etc etc is a must.
I have the s2, and it runs smooth as a dual-core. So which version would be most benificial?
I personally believe the extra memory, with a dual-core is better because not many app/games even utilize a dual-core to full potential, let alone a quad-core.
But a quad core phone!!!!!! Who wouldn't want that!!!!
Someone please help me out, with some intelligent banter. I'm stuck.

In daily usage, there is no difference between the quad and dual core versions.
But when you start playing super heavy games, you notice the difference. The quad core is indeed faster.
But you never said you played hardcore games so the dual core is for you. It also has the LTE advantage.

I was doing more research and found out that the international version does not work for T-Mobile 4g speeds. So How does one go about knowing if a non international version (US version) will work with T-Mobile 4g?
I am looking at phones from Amazon, I have a gift card.
I wonder if tmobile 4g is compatible with
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
T-mobile 3g/4g operates on the 1700 and 2100 spectrum.
The t-mobile sgs3 definitely has 4g support for it, and the at&t version lacks the hardware to support it.
For 4g and 3g on t-mobile, your only option is the buy the t-mobile variant

I am wondering if firstly the Exynos 5410 Octa version of the Galaxy SIV is LTE compatible. The only reason I would get the Galaxy S4 is if it has the SGX544MP3 (I want to have graphics performance future proofing) and if the UK will not get that model on LTE I will probaly get the HTC One or the Xperia Z. Please help!

I heard both the US and global versions are gonna be LTE capable ( even if they come with different cpu).
So i guess it's gonna be LTE capable all around the globe even in the UK.
Yes theyre both LTE its just the Exynos wont be available in N.A. due to unsupported bands on that model. Shame really.

Globally, the majority of GS4 LTE versions will come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon, while 3G versions will be equipped with Samsung Exynos.""
That would seem to suggest that the Exynos' power requirements when combined with a long-term evolution (LTE) modem are too much of a pressure on the battery.

Ok, Samsung website doesn't seem to help and their reps definitely don't help!
The new note 10.1 comes with the 8 core 1.9ghz processor. Or so they would like you to think!!!
One site says "Under the hood, the international version of the Note 10.1, the version I reviewed, packs in Samsung's eight-core 1.9GHz Exynos 5 Octa processor and a Mali-T628 GPU. In the US, you'll get Samsung's 1.3GHz quad-core Exynos 5420 processor instead."
Another site says "1.9GHz Samsung Exynos 5420 Quad-Core Processor; Wi-Fi connected only" for the US version.
So, if you get the Note 10.1 in the good old USA, you only get the 1.3ghz quad core cpu. That's a slower chip than the Note 8.
If you get it global, you get the 1.9ghz cpu octa-core (which is actually a quad core), or with the 2.3ghz quad for the LTE.
The LTE runs on GSM, not CMDA, so it will only work with carriers that use GSM sim card. Do we have those in the US?
Samsung website says "Exynos® 1.9GHz Quad Processor + 1.3 GHz Quad Processor" Apparently they are both in there. I'm guessing they shut off the fast processor for us.
Has anyone bought the US new one and tested it? I'm guessing you can't just look at the settings and tell what's running under the hood. Can I get an international one and flash a US firmware into it and keep it running at 1.9ghz?
Had one in the "cart", but I'm going to hold off and see what's what.

I believe the exynos 5 octo is based on having four 1.9ghz a15 cores and four 1.3ghz a9 cores for easier tasks (for power efficiency's sake). Thats one of the possible processors on the note 2014; the other is snapdragon 800 quad core which is 2.3ghz if i remember correctly.
This is all from memory so it might not be perfectly accurate. Hope it helps

Snapdragon 800, which is currently the flagship, has 4 cores. Only Mediatek and Samsung have octocores in the mobile market and samsung's is not even a real octo.
