Like the simple interface but will this last or die like google reader. Hard to trust google with these things now. Evernote as of now

Why not just use evernote?

one advantage ive noticed with google keep over evernote so far after a few mins is the integration it has with google now just press the google now button and say "note to self..." and say something that you want to remember for later" it stores in the app. still messing with it but ill keep evernote on the side as its my bagel/coffee order app to remember what everyones bagel and coffee prefs are lol, and ill keep any.do for now for shopping lists with my wife.

Is this backed up on cloud or the phone itself?

It's backed up on the cloud, on Google Drive as best as I can tell.

I guess that there is no need to fear that they will put a stop to this. So long as Google Drive exists, Keep is for keeps!
This is primarily saving data/ file onto our Google Drive and hence the service should not logically end.

badly that only armv7

What's the best to-do app?

Preferably one with a widget where I can quickly view, create, and edit a list of the things I need to do that day. Suggestions?
That would be awesome. I need the same thing. I got a wedding coming up and I have so much to do.

I use note everything...download the free and paid version. Has a widget and nice features

I'll second Astrid.
I just use the google calendar.... it seems easier to enter the stuff in on my pc....you can do it from the phone too... and then just use the calendar widgets....
I set "to-do" things as all day events.

No can do. I'm not about to clutter my calendar with things like "pick up laundry."
I've used "color note" for a while. Basically a sticky note style widget, but the To-do features were surprisingly good. Very easy to add tasks and check them off. Of course, evernote is just awesome simply because your notes are everywhere, but I find it to be too much for the kind of quick To-do list you're talking about.

I also use astrid, but i have used one that syncs my notes online too so that when i reformat my phone and try a different rom (once a day kinda thing for me lol) i dont lose my todo list for my job. i'll have to try to find the name of that one, but if you look in the market it should be easy to find, their main feature is it syncing online and they put it right in the description.
Eh, I tried Astrid, but the widget is horrible.

ok - now you're talking my language. I live and die by my task manager.
I use the ToodleDo task manager at the office. Its a pretty solid task manager and does everything I need it to (which is pretty extensive) in the free version. There's a web interface where you login to the website to access your tasks (which are all stored online), but there's also FF addon that adds instant access to your tasks in a FF sidebar - this makes adding and editing tasks on the fly quick and easy. They only provide that web access though, so although it can be accessed by a mobile browser (meh), they have no android presence.
Here's where it gets interesting.
I have an app called Got To Do, which is a pretty decent android task manager in its own right, but what's cool is that it can also sync up with my ToodleDo account online. So the app gives instant access to all of my ToodleDo tasks. They have a widget, but it's not that great.
But I also have the Pure Calendar widget (which is an a amazingly customizable agenda-showing calendar widget), which can sync up with Got To Do.
So the bottom half of my main homescreen is the Pure Calender widget, not only showing me agenda items from my exchange and google calendars, but also my relevant tasks from ToodleDo/GotToDo. And I have Pure Calendar to open Got To Do when pressed, so my tasks are always one click away. I find myself accessing my tasks almost exclusively from my Evo at this point because of how easy it is.
Elegant productivity enhancement, or just OCD? You decide.
And before it comes up, the cpu and battery drain from all this syncing have been negligible on BS.
I use gtasks. It auto syncs with my Google Tasks on my gmail account and has a simple and nice looking widget. It is also very simple, which is what I was looking for.

Use the app Gtasks, anything you put in will go to your task list on google calendar, thus eliminating clutter.
Or an alternative is to use the app Jorte -- it's a calendar app/widget that links with your google calendar. You can create more than one calendar on google calendars, and turn of the visibility of the new calendar while viewing your calendar online.

[Q] Looking for a app to sync notes between devices

I am looking to find a program that will allow me to sync todo lists, notes and grocery lists between me and my girlfriend. Free would be nice. What does everyone recommend?
Evernote
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Springpad and Catch are also worth looking at.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
definitely reccomend Gtasks. Everything syncs with gmail so you'll never loose your tasks when changing phones.
My wife and I use Our Groceries, which is pretty much our only option, because she has an iPhone and it's the only app I've found that will sync our lists across my Nexus S and her iPhone 4.
Springpad is the best. Evernote is polished but isn't really intuitive
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I'm using Springpad and quite like it
+1 for gtasks. But -7 for the price.
Catch is free, and available on both iPhone and Android (and web) https://catch.com/
Confused by the choices. However springpad has a upper hand since it also has to do list.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Springpad for me as it allows you to access notes when you don't have an internet connection, also has iPhone/iPad app.
Gx
+1 for Catch
Hello,
I don't know about task list/todo functionality (don't think it has that) but I really like Catch. Is an awesome notes application, and I've used the same account over an iphone and two android phones (and kept the same persistent notes all the way through, has been great!). As well, it has decent browser access, so you can access/create/edit notes on your pc. You can attach pictures to notes as well in the free version. All notes will be stored on both your phone and on catch servers, thus no worries regarding losing them. (If you work for the CIA, I wouldn't use Catch to store state secrets, but don't think the average user needs to worry )
As the base version is free, I'd definitely check it out! Easy for yourself and your girlfriend to sign in to the same catch account, then you share the same notes

Hey, that's a good idea!
OP, Wolfram Alpha has a few apps out which are really helpful for math courses.
I find that Dato's GTasks is a nice and simple to-do list that syncs with google tasks quite well. It has multiple list support so you can sort out your different classes/etc.
I use "My Class Schedule" (market.android.com/details?id=de.rakuun.MyClassSchedule.free) for keeping track of grades/homework. I also like the widget for displaying the courses of the day.
Are you in secondary(high school) or college/uni?
I have found that all I need for college is some sort of pdf reader such as Adobe or whatever suits for looking at my timetable and the odd document. Everything else I have found has been handled pretty well by the phone such as setting reminders and alarms.
It's really convenient (and sometimes less expensive) to download books you are required to read, using the Kindle app (Amazon), the Nook app (Barnes & Noble), or the Google Books app. All are available on the market.

How to backup joined contacts?

Hello, I've spent the last hour linking my Google Contacts with Facebook. So i think, i don't wanna do this again next time I flash new rom or change phone. So is it possible to make some kind of backup that will remember what contacts where linked.
If not, is there an app that can rename all my Google Contacts according to the names of the linked Facebook account.
Are you using a HTC phone with a Sense ROM? If you are, then the People app in Sense adds a tag to each contact once you link it. Using this it automatically restores Facebook link when you factory reset/flash a new ROM. To confirm that it added those tags for you, open a contact and look under the 'Notes' section. Also log into your Gmail account on a computer, open a few random linked contacts and see if this tag is there under 'Notes'. If it's there, it's backed up with Google contacts and when you restore the contacts to the phone, it'll automatically link them after signing into Facebook.

i wish i could help man, i want to do the same thing too
Unfortunately, I don't think it is really possible as these are two separate sets of contacts. The best way to alleviate some of the hassle is to transfer some of the data over, as in, transfer the facebook info into your Google contacts.
Facebook info is not editable as it is stored on their sore and merely linked to it. Ubuntu One os working on their contact management which would slow for this as it syncs facebook, Google and any other services to you ubuntu account then would sync to your mobile.

I've added all the email address of my friends to my Google contacts. I manually did this one day on my computer, copy pasting email addresses from Facebook to Google contacts. Since then I've never had this problem. Facebook automatically identifies my contacts through their email ID and links them. It's a time consuming process, but you'll only need to do it once and for every new contact that you add.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
Well i'm hardly a developer, but if it possible to access to contacts joined contacts from the android API, and if we build an application that would read information from facebook(with permission, like all FB apps) then i guess it would be possible to store lets say profile id from fb to google contacts notes, and then with the same app, you would be able to join them again in case of new phone/new rom.
Would you say thats possible? Would anyone try to build that?
I think i will try to make something like that after I finish the college year.
HTC has a feature like that, as was mentioned. So it's possible. It would be worth it to try! Basically the htc app automatically searches and paris contacts, based on names, emails, numbers, etc. them you are given a notification, and prompted with the suggestions and you can choose to link. This only happens on startup, so am app that could be called on at any time would be nice!

When on contacts screen, press menu> import/export> export to sdcard
Restore them whenever you flash a new ROM, don't tell if it wasn't what you were looking for

I know it has been a long time since this questioned has been asked, but I wanted to let people annoyed by this problem that I have made a free application that can backup and restore those joins. It can help those with mild OCD like myself.
It is called Total Backup and can be found in Google Play at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.softwareshack.totalbackup. If you happen to use it don't hesitate to write to me any bugs or features you may like. Feedback is very important to me.

[Q] good notes app

I'm looking for a good notes app (possibly like Google Keep, looks and functionatlity wise), that has more focus on privacy. The best would be an app that stores the notes in an encrypted form, and offers sync, so you can edit notes on the PC as well.
I've found "SealNote" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.twistedplane.sealnote which looks interesting, but I don't think it offers sync capabilities. Is there a note app with encryption AND sync option?
