[Q] Maps (google navigation) has stopped in 4.1.1 roms - HTC One S

Hi there,
I am using "Android Best Stock v3.0" and I cannot use navigation. I have found a few reports here and there that this is a maps issue, but also others apparently are not having the problem. My one S is from wind(globalive) in canada. I have installed the same rom on another one S from bell. That phone has the exact same issue. However I know someone who got the OTA update recently on wind (we bought our phones the same day) and his navigation doesn't crash like mine does.
I want to know if alot of people are still having this issue with 4.1.1 roms and if they found a fix?
Thanks!

Not really sure what's causing the navigation to crash, but there has been reports flying around. Its very random issue and some phones are affected by that some works without issue. I'm using navigation a lot and never had problems with it. I access navigation throu Google maps. Ie. Search the spot and then choose to navigate to it. I never use HTC car app.
Sent from my VILLE using xda app-developers app

Mine Crashes too
I have exactly the same issue and there is no fix that I know of. Nothing fixes the issue except switching to 2D mode which is useless.
This issue has been floating around since December .... no fix in site.

I am on AODP now with bubba v4. The problem is still happening. I am having other stability issues with this rom though. But thats something else.

Downgrade maps or switch to 2d mode.
Google it.

Reboot when using Google's location service

Hi,
I'm having a problem with Google's location service. If it is turned on and an app uses it, my phone reboots after some seconds. Turning it off and using GPS satellites only solves the problem. Although, it seems for the weather widget to work it has to be enabled... :/
I am currently running Android Revolution HD 6.7.2 (latest) with faux kernel, also tried wiping and reflashing it using a different kernel. I can't really tell when this started, some day it just kept rebooting every time I took a picture (geo-tag enabled).
Does anyone know what this could be caused by?
Thanks in advance.
earlier maps update had these issues and a fix was released ..did you updated the maps to the latest (which has fix )?

[Q] Google Navigation keeps force closing since update

Hi guys,
SInce updating my stock HTC One S to Android 4.1.1 and HTC 4+, I cannot get Navigation to work properly. It force closes every 10 or so seconds.
The GPS is clearly working as it does find the route immediately, and starts to navigate - but then closes!
I rely heavily on Google Nav and seeing as I just got a new refurbished phone from my network, I don't want to have to put this one in for repair as well and be phonelesss for another week +...
Is this a known problem?
Thanks as always,
TD

Have you tried clearing the app data and cache? Are you rooted? Sometimes I find a quick re-install does the trick. I'm guessing you have tried all of those, but thought I would through them out there.
Also, have you tried a different app. like Waze?
you're not alone
this is a known problem, see below

yep, it's known problem. Been using Viper 2.2.0 and nav fc in 3d mode. I put it in 2d mode as soon as I start the nav or turn screen off and use voice guidance only.

[Q] Networklocation Only Works On Wifi ? Anyone else ?

I put a post on the CM forums about this but got no response. Surely I am not the only person with this problem... If anyone running CM10.1 does or does not have this problem please post.... thanks..
Thread: http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/73944-networklocation-only-works-on-wifi/
I have no idea where to post this so I am just putting it out there in the general area, as it isn't device specific at all. I have been Googling this for a while too but I cant find much reference to anyone else having the same problem.
The problem is:
When WiFi is OFF ONLY Google Maps can get a location from NetworkLocation (basically, cell towers). Nothing else will get a location.
When WiFi is ON Google Maps AND all other apps (Weather Widgets, cLock Widget, etc) get network-based location.
Please note having traditional GPS switched on or off makes no difference, When GPS is on and fixed it works great, no issues at all with normal GPS, this is only related to Network Location Provider (NetworkLocation.apk).
Its annoying as it means I have to keep GPS enabled, and it has to fix every time I want to update my weather widgets, as I cant ask them to use network location as I never use Wifi! And the whole point of it is that it updates when im out and about, not at home on my hotspot.
I just want to know at this stage, does anyone else actually have this problem? Or is it a known bug that I just did not stumble on after hours on Google...? I would track it down but I got no idea where to start.
Observations:
LG Optimus 2X, CM7, This problem does not exist!
LG Optimus 2X CM10.1, This problem exists.
Sony Xperia Z CM10.1, This problem exists.
This is using the latest offical GAPPS package from goo.im.
Tried play store 4.1.6 & 4.1.10 and also previous versions. No difference.
I am trying to find out if: its a cm10.1 bug, a gapps (networklocation.apk) bug or a jellybean bug.

[Q] GPS locks, then gets stuck - Lollipop/CM12 issue?

Using Google Maps with Lollipop CM12...Has anyone had the issue where they can get a GPS lock, Google even gives you the ETA of your destination, but as you drive, you lose your lock and Maps gets stuck - thinking you're on a random side street nearby while you're actually moving on course? I am using Location in high accuracy mode. I'm running the official 4.4.4 firmware posted by @Tigerstown too. Never had this issue before. Ideas anyone? Thanks!

I have had this issue before. Not on cm cause I don't run that. I'm trying to think of what ROM this was on...I tried all the lock tricks I know. My maps did the same thing as yours. Only choice I had was not to run that ROM..if you get it figured out but I don't know what you can do I didn't try let me know
It looks a lot like this problem : http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/gps-dropping-signal-ota-lollipop-update-t2951515
(Also reported in AOSP : https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=81140 )
Sadly it seems this problem has not yet been solved/acknowledged by Google...
Well that sucks, I'm looking for a fix to it. Preferably a fix that does not involve returning to stock, then reflashing to CM after I get a lock, and hoping the planets were lined up perfectly.

This issue has been fixed for me for quite some time now. Which device and ROM are u running? And are you 110% sure that you're using the latest firmware?
I got it fixed. Try though, and yes I'm absolutely positive that the firmware is up to date. It happened because I was messaging with a room that used a f2fs /system position, and CM needed it to be ext4, so it was formatted before installing. I just installed a known functional ROM, then installed CM with /system left as is. No Isadora since aside from CM using a newer recovery, and forcing it on us now.

OPO Maps Navigation Issue!

Hi folks, I have been facing a bit of an issue in using Navigation on Maps. I have reason to believe this is happening in mostly OPO devices ONLY! A friend who also owns a OPO reported similar issue. While using Maps Navigation I have noticed that the pointer doesn't move along or update as I proceed in a given route. This is happening even when GPS is ON and set to High Accuracy and proper data coverage. I would like to know if anyone faced or is facing this issue? What is the solution? Thanks.
COS: 12.0-YNG1TAS2I3
Android: 5.0.2
Google Maps: 9.14.0
i have the same issue. the little blue pointer doesn't follow you and after awhile, it says gps signal lost. however, it still give you a turn by turn if you touch the bottom part. I really need this to work because of my job need. anyone have a fix for this? I think this only happen after the newest update about a week ago
I don't think that this is related to the One Plus One specifically. It is happening on at least 2 or 3 different devices that I have tested it on.
Does anyone have the apk for the previous version of google maps so that we can re-test?
Edit ..... Try this one and see if it sorts out your issue.
