Hello all,
I downloaded stable CM 7.2 rom of LG Optimus One (has nearly same config as HTC Explorer)
But flashing was unsuccessful
Does it mean, even though having nearly same config, we can't flash other device's stable ROM ????
Nope
That isn't possible. It's LG, and ours is HTC...
Straight forward: Not possible

Wouldn't give you a :banghead: like the others, but, if you feel like booting other device's stable ROM's, then try porting it to our device. There are plenty of good porting guides out there in XDA. Then, you'd be working to make the port stable, as it wouldn't be stable anymore

How to Dual Boot Multiple ROMs on Your Android Phone
Whether you want to test out a new ROM for daily use or just keep an eye on one that's being developed, you can run multiple ROMs on your rooted Android phone with BootManager, and pick which one to use when you start it up.
Having multiple ROMs to choose from is great, but flashing and re-flashing new ROMs just to try them out is annoying. If you want to try one out but don't want to fully flash it over your current ROM, BootManager will let you flash it (and up to three others) to your SD card, so you can try multiple ROMs at once. The ROMs you run from your SD card won't be quite as fast, and not every ROM out there will work, but it should give you a chance to try out most other ROMs without fully flashing them.
Right now the app is officially supported on the original Motorola Droid, Droid Incredible, HTC Thunderbolt, HTC Vision, HTC EVO 4G, HTC Inspire 4G, HTC Desire, and the HTC Desire HD. It may work on other phones, though, they just aren't officially supported yet.
Note: This tutorial contains some pretty advanced stuff, and we don't recommend it if you're unfamiliar with rooting and flashing ROMs. If you're just starting out, check out how to root your Android phone and how to flash Android ROMs before moving onto something like this.
Step One: Flash a Second ROM
Before you do anything, make a nandroid backup of your current ROM with ROM Manager or through your recovery module. If anything goes wrong, you can always restore from this backup to get things back to the way they were.
To set up BootManager, just download and install it from the Market, and start it up. You'll also want to grab a ROM of your choice and save the zip file on your SD card.
When you first start up BootManager, it'll prompt you to back up your boot.img, which you should do before installing any ROMs. Once you've done that, head to "Install ROMs". Pick the zip file from your SD card containing the ROM you want to flash, and check all three boxes: Wipe System, Wipe Data, and Wipe Cache. Let it do its thing (which will take awhile). When you're done, it will give you the option of booting into your new ROM. Hit Done; we aren't ready to boot into it just yet.
Step Two: Install Google Apps and Other ROM Add-Ons
Most ROMs don't come with Google's copyrighted apps, like Gmail, the Market, and others. This is a problem, since when you boot into your new ROM you need BootManager to function if you ever want to boot out of it, and it won't work unless you're signed into the Android Market. Luckily, there's an easy fix (note: if you know your ROM comes with Google Apps installed, you can skip this step).
Download the Google Apps zip file for the ROM you just installed and go back to BootManager. Hit Install ROMs. This time, pick Google Apps' zip file, and use the same slot that you used in step one. Leave all three "wipe" boxes unchecked this time. When it's done, booting into that slot will take you to the original ROM, but with the Google apps installed.
If you want to install a theme or other zip-based mod in the future, you can do that using this method too. Just remember: if you're flashing a new ROM, check all three "wipe" boxes, but if you're just installing an add-on to a ROM, don't check any of them.
Step Three: Switch Between ROMs
To boot into one of your other ROMs, just head into BootManager and choose "Boot Installed ROM". It'll show you a list of ROMs you have installed on your device, and after choosing one of them it will reboot into that ROM. BootManager will come installed on each of your other ROMs as well, and as long as you're signed into the Android Market on that ROM, you can boot into it from there as well and switch back to your main ROM.
That's it! You can flash up to five ROMs at a time, so you'll never be bored by one measly operating system. Hit the link to download BootManager.
BootManager is a $2.99 download for Android 2.1 and up. See the Market page below for officially supported devices.

I'm going to try this on my TouchPad. The only thing keeping me from running an ICS ROM as my daily driver is the lack of HW video decoder support (aka YouTube HD and Netflix don't work).
Hopefully I can keep the latest CM 7.1 Kang and CM 9 Kangs side-by-side.

Hi, i bought this phone on second hand and it came with the cianogen mod 9, and its full of bugs , and i need to send and receive mms, one thing i cant do with this rom...
How can i put the phone like it came out of the box? With the oficial htc rom, or a new one that doesnt have bugs and is able to send mms...
I appreciate the help! a link to a tutorial or something like that would be great!
I think your best bet would be installing endymion. A fast and stable custom ROM. If your comfortable with returning your phone to stock then that's fine but since the phone is already rooted it would be easier and probably safer to install a custom ROM
Endymion:

sounds like a good idea, that rom is the most stable out there with sense 3.5?
Can you please give me a link for flashing roms on this phone, i did it a long time ago on a galaxy 550 i had but i dont remember most of it... One more thing, will the phone run the 2 roms multibooting like a pc or will the flashing of this rom erase the cyanogen one?
Thanks!
No, the phone will not run 2 ROM's.
If you require a backup of your current ROM, go into recovery & make a nandroid backup of your current ROM.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
You need to erase system , boot, data, cache, dalvik cache partitions before installing a new ROM (Endymion in your case).
Refer the INDEX thread for all your querries regarding Root, Installing new ROM , or Return to stock Guides !
While I haven't been on Sense in a while, I am confident Endymion is the most stable. It's the only Gingerbread ROM managing to stay on top of the development section. The developer has put in a lot of work into this ROM.
For the rest Tapur007 is pretty much correct. All your answers can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146601
Luckily for you the hard part has already been done. All you need to do is boot into recovery, make a backup, wipe and install the ROM.
And to backup things like the apps what do you recommend? Something like titanium backup?

Titanium Backup is your bet for backup of applications and their data. Although you need to be careful restoring across different ROMs.
You could try the latest ICS ROM called Fallout (what I consider to be the Endymion replacement as its made by the same guy) this is reaching a level of performance and stability.

but with that rom i wouldnt be able to send mms right?
I've alredy flashed the endymion rom, it was easier than i tough, using the rom manager, it praticaly does everything for us, including wiping data and installing (sorry for the entusiasm but i tough it would be harder so i was pretty happy )
Like I said, the hard part has already been done so flash to your heart's content

yep, thanks for the help everyone any recomendations on roms to use?
If you're already on endymion, give ICS a try. So fallout or virtuous saga. Or if you don't like sense try out reaper for a stable and fast gingerbread experience or AOKP for an ICS approach.
There will never be one answer to the best ROM. It's up to you to find out which one fits your standards

Sense 2.1 ROMs: none (time to move on from the 80s...)
Sense 3.0 ROMs: none (time to move on the 90s...)
Sense 3.5 ROMs: Endymion 3.5 (great support! great dev!)
Sense 3.6 ROMs: none (why use an inferior ICS version when clearly Sense 4.0 is just around the horizon...)
Sense 4.0 ROMs: lots to choose from (most still have minor bugs that needs ironing out, but Sense 4 will give you the HTC One experience...)
Again it goes to show that HTC only cares on tempting you to buy a new phone (with new software) rather than providing proper support for old phones... Great thanks for the devs who keep old phones alive that htc has left to die...
non-sense Gingerbread: Oxygen port (some issue with camera on some newer phones) or CM7 (latest CM7 RC3?)
non-sense ICS: CM9 latest alpha (a clear upgrade, only minor glitches now), AOKP port etc.
These ROMs are the way Android should have been released (like the Nexus S / GalaxyNexus) without HTC butchering it up with Sense.

Get the latest alpha (31/5?) This should solve most of your mms problems.
After seeing the Development for our phone i thought lets take a look what is still missing so here is some things i felt that are missing...
1.CWM Touch recovery 5.5.0.4(Only Manual recovery 6.x.x.x by Sarthak Acharya)
2.TWRP 2.3(Currently we have 2.2.2.1 by cute_prince and oblikas both have their own builds)
3.CM7.2 fully Fixed with cam(I know its old but alot of customisation can be done with it more then ICS and JB)
4.A proper P.A.C rom from source build(Ported rom are alot buggy)
5.Oxygen(GB/ICS/JB) & CNA(ICS/JB) rom from source build(GB not sure for Oxygen)
7.CyanmobileX 2.3.8 and GingerDX types rom build from source
8.S-OFF most important to flash HBoot
9.Overclock(I know many people wont support it but hey people like me need it 600Mhz isnt enough)
10.Sense 2.1(I know OLD but it looks classic than our sense 3.5)
Have suggestions..?? dont waste time say it....

Nothing missing but we still have to work alot on the current ROMs like CM9/10 , AOKP, MIUI , Sense 4. Coz theres still alot of work left on these ROMs, as the newer version of Android comes the development of older versions is left behind so if it goes on like this we will never get any stable ROM but many ported buggy ROMs.

I just think it is amazing all the great development that is taking place. I originally thought it would be great if I could get ICS when HTC said it was not possible, now it looks like I will get a fully stable JB shortly and maybe even Sense 4. Deferas' build is almost unbelievable - he is a genius. I wish someone from HTC would help him unofficially. They know what he needs and could help him easily.

Hi
Not sure where to post this. Want as much exposure as i can get for a fast fix.
Basically, I have tried two custom roms:
AOKP JB rom
Paranoid Android
I would have stuck with any of these, but the AOKP rom would switch from Loudspeaker to normal during a phonecall. And the Paranoid Android has too many bugs in it that I cant run it without getting annoyed with the force closes etc.
Im now looking for either:
A FULLY WORKING CUSTOM ROM
or
AN OFFICIAL HTC ONE V STOCK ROM
hope you can point me to the right direction?
Thanks,
Maybe you should post this in the one V specific forum? You'll get way better answers there.

The best way is to go forum of ur phone. Do a little bit of research in the threads and then install the custom rom of your choice!
You'll also get links of stock rom from the phone's forum...
Search ur phone on top right corner box.. And then see android development section!

Hate to tell you this but custom roms will always have bugs. This is why all roms are considered beta and some even alpha builds.
You have to remember this is a development site where developers try new things to see what breaks. This is not a roms site

If you've got sense 5 you won't need to change the firmware. Do you know how to get into recovery mode if so after you download a kk Rom go to recovery and press backup. This will back up your sense 5 Rom incase you want to go back to it. When it's complete go back and press wipe all except sd card. Then go back and press choose zip and then find your download file. The kk zip file you downloaded should be there. Press install and wait. Once installed you have to go back and do the same with gapps file which you should have downloaded with your Rom. Once complete go back and reboot your phone then wait few minutes and your kk Rom will be ready to set up and use.

Best rom
I'd recommend SultanXDA CM11, I think it is most stable and best battery life, almost no bugs.
