If I downgrade to ICS, root, upgrade using the Razr HD utility and retain root through the upgrade, does the wireless tether for root users app work? I read conflicting reports about it working on the verizon version of the razr maxx hd.
I've got a Razr Maxx HD (XT926) on Verizon-US, rooted, running 4.1.1. I get a "blocked by carrier" error message when I try to do wi-fi tether with FoxFi (now PDANet+). FoxFi always worked for me before the JB upgrade. I've tried several other wifi tether apps from the Play Store (hate that name), including WiFi Tether For Root and Barnacle. None of them has worked for me. Some show that same "blocked" message, others seem to start up and work but never permit a working Internet connection.
I have had success with BOTH the Bluetooth tether and the USB tether options of PDANet+. Easy to set up, easy to use. Neither of these alternatives is as simple or as useable as wifi tether but that's what I'm using right now until I discover a better alternative.
Go to the Google Website: code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
Download: wifi_tether_v3_2-beta2.apk
In Change Device-Profile select "Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)"
PS - This is the only version of WiFi Tether for Root that currently works for the Droid RAZR HD XT926_verizon.

Thanks for this I'll have to try it. I first need to do the downgrade as I've never done it before on this phone. Is it painless?

+1. With the "Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)" setting this tether app worked for me, too. I already had it on my phone (XT926 running rooted stock 4.1.1) but had not tried that particular device-profile. Since it didn't work for me before and does for me now I KNOW that this is the setting that makes the difference.
Also, this tethering app is in the Google Play Store as WiFi Tether For Root, a free app.
You can use the native tethering app, just have to DL SQLite Editor and change line 67(entitlement check) in settings database from 1 to 0 and reboot.
Once in Sqlite Editor go to storage/settings.db/settings and change line 67 in that database from 1 to 0 for the wifi tethering to work...
I just downgraded my phone without any problems on the first try, flashed root, temp unrooted, took the OTA and restored root. The advice about the wifi tether profile works perfectly, thanks for that! This phone just got complete.

Anyone having a problem trying to enable the hotspot app if the feature is actually on their account from verizon? I have a rooted HD MAXX and cant get the hotspot to turn on after several times turning the feature on and off at the account level. Rooted running the latest update JB.

this version works, and i think it may be faster than using the built in app....much easier to navigate when you use the widget...

Hello All,
I have installed TNT lite 4.0. I was under 3. 14. I have tried to install wemote controller. When I go into the settings I see the selection to enable wimote IME but it does not enable it. Is this a problem in the ROM?. I have tried Vegan and it works on that one but I do not like my tablet resembling my droid OG. I like TnT. Has anyone gotten the wimmote to work on TnT?
Thanks, Rob

I am having the same issue on the most recent version of TnT lite. Any resolution?
It's a stock issue that they have yet to correct. You can't alter keyboards (which is what the Wiimote app is) if the keyboard is installed as a user app - you have to add it to /system/app via a tool like adb or root explorer.
Thanks Roebeet!

any tut on how this is done? I too would like to keep my TnT ROM.
Has anyone successfully get it to work yet?
I did what was suggested and used root explorer to move the wiimote apk to the system/app and installed it from there, but still was unable to enable it in the keyboard settings? Is there a deeper location to set the permission?
thanks.
Edit: a reboot of the tab refreshed it so that I can now select the wiimoteIME.
Has anyone tried market enabler on his/her transformer?
I am from Canada and I bought a few US only apps on my rooted phone using market enabler. I saw a thread in a Xoom forum that market enabler doesn't work on devices that are wifi only (makes sense since it fakes the mobile network provider). My tablet is not rooted yet and I don't have any need for root except for that. So, if market enabler doesn't on the transformer, I am not gonna bother rooting.
i used marketenabler on my rotted transformer and it doesn't work
anyone know any other solution?
Just rooted my 3.2 transformer, and installed Market Enabler.
I can see the paid apps listed, but cannot download (said it is not available to your country)

A lot of people report Market Enabler failing with Market 3.0. I can't root my TF because there's no ROM available to root an 8.6.6.9 3G TF, but I fixed Market Enabler on my phone by reverting the Market app to the factory installed 2.3.4. I verified I could once again download and purchase. Then I downloaded the Market app 3.0.27 apk, installed it manually, and I'm now able to purchase and download apps. Apparently the revert/reinstall reenables Market Enabler.
If you want, you can prevent automatic updates to the Market app by renaming /system/app/MarketUpdater.apk to MarketUpdater.bak.
Apps that I purchase via my rooted, Market-enabled phone then show up in my TF's Market app as purchased but not installed. I can then download and install them on my non-rooted TF.

First install ORBOT from market and install PANDORA apk that u can find on the internet (many places) or you can install market enabler from market and then using market enabler (selecting t-mobile as operator) you can install pandora app from android market itself..
Having installed the two apps u need to do the following
1. Fire Orbot ,grant it root permissions, select pandora for proxy ,once you are done with the wizard dont long press yet instead GO to orbot settings then go to the option "exit nodes"
2. Enter the FOLLOWING pick any four/five of these and enter there as shown in image attached
Amunet2, Amunet3, Amunet5, CCN2, peter, 1337Relay, 5tr3ckrava, akVidaliaTor, alecto, Amunet11, Aquillar
as shown in image below
3. Check the "strict nodes" option
4. Select Pandora for proxy as above if you have not done it before
5. Start orbot (NOTe first run of orbot takes a little time if on a slow connection) and once connected launch PAndora..
6. Enjoy !!!

I want to have Pandora on my device Samsung Galaxy S2 but at the same time I dont wanna root it ? is rooting required in this procedure. I believe rooting will void the warranty on my phone it is not even a week old ? So ideally I dont wanna do it. So by doing this will I lose the warranty on my phone ?

Rooting does void warranty but you can always unroot to bring back to stock to return warranty again. These are the steps you need to follow to get it working outside the US. Again, you have to root sorry. I can provide the apk but it won't help you until you gain root. You will NOT permanently void your warranty unless you brick your device. It shouldn't be a hard procedure.

Ok, First this apk file that you have given is this like an updated file for listening Pandora APP the same App which with its full features and functionalities works in the U.S meaning what I wanted to know is this is not minus some features right ? This is the same thing as people use in the U.S ? I believe the latest ver of Pandora is 3.1.16(105790) so is this apk file the same version?
Secondly If I wanna root my phone only and only for this purpose to install Pandora how do I root it for this purpose and how do I unroot it again ? to regain my warranty back.

Ok I had one question here now that I have the Pandora apk file, Once I install ORBOT then how do I install the apk file and install it where at what location in the phone ?
Thanks. It works on S2.
Just mention that:
1) ORBOT reboot my phone at first...
2) Cannot search the app in Android Market by switching to "T-mobile", "Sprint'...
Impressive, even after 2 and a half years the nodes are still working rock solid... Thanks a lot Safaraz19889
I've managed to find a modded version of Pandora's apk.. the modded version removes all ads which is good because less data will be used.
-All deleted ads and unlimited skips
-Now W / ASX of New Patch Skip, so now do not get a single break! And Zipaligned.
I'm attaching here, if anyone happens to want it.

I just installed it and got a video commercial, normal?
Thank you very much Safaraz19889 for the trick!
Orbot is very slow. Do you have other faster proxy services?
Works all very fine for me on my SGS3. Best Radio!
Thanks for sharing guide and apk!
I couldn't connect anymore on these nodes so I looked for new ones: http://torstatus.blutmagie.de
Thank you to Hashcode for Jelly Bean for the Kindle Fire!
I installed the 7/13 version today and it rocks. It's like having a brand new tablet!
I'm able to install apps through Google Play, except for some of the key Amazon apps like Kindle, MP3 player, and Appstore. I get "Unknown error code during application install: -24" error. The Amazon Mobile app for shopping installed fine. I enabled "Allow installation from unknown sources" and tried installing directly from Amazon's web site, but I got a similar and vague error that the app failed to install.
I flashed the latest Gapps with TWRP. The version of Google Play on my device is 3.7.13.
How can I install these Amazon apps successfully? I have my .mp3 music and Kindle books that I would like to access on this device. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!
I am having the same issue. I cannot install the kindle app.
It's probably because amazon hasn't updated their apps yet. I'm sure they're checking the build version and seeing 16 instead of 15 in your build.prop files. I don't have a Fire or a device with JellyBean, but that's my two cents

Update: Thanks for your replies. Reverend Kyle was able to install these apps with no problem. I did a factory reset through TWRP and then was able to install these apps! I lost all the apps I installed and customizations that I made over the weekend, but no big deal to me. I can just reinstall those. But having the Kindle etc. apps was a definite need. Initially I had cleared the various cache areas after installing JB/Gapps, but I didn't do a factory reset. Now everything is working!
Thanks to Reverend Kyle for his JB installation video. That's what led me to do the factory reset.
As a newbie, I can't post his link in this reply until I have 10 posts. Just Google him if you want to see the videos.

Thanks, that worked for me as well!
I don't want to install this if the Kindle app doesn't work. Is this true, or was it solved by a factory reset (which I do before I install ROMs anyway).

Google Search app not working
I was able to successfully install the latest ROM available from Hashcode (07-13) and latest Gapps on my kindle fire. It is working very well except google search app fails to work and also the battery doesn't show charging sign when connected to electric point, though actually it charges. How can these be fixed?
Thanks.

All ROMs whether ICS or JB; have this bug if they use Hashcode's 3.0 kernel.
I had problems with the hashcode ROM, I switched to the Project Jandycane ROM and its been pretty good so far. Just flashed version 1.6 today.
AOSP JELLY BEAN 4.1.2_r1
I installed AOSP JELLY BEAN 4.1.2_r1 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1765288 and found several defects.
1) sound. if set sound volume to off, an non-stop system error occurs. (fixed by this way: manufacture reset in TWRP)
2) usb. PC and KF can't detect usb connection. The battery charge is. UMS says "please plug usb cable", but cable is already pluged.
I tried it on the 3 PCs. Only one PC+KF connected, but file transfer speed is very low ~200KBps. Plus KF hangs from the begining ~2 minutes of file transfering. Hard reboot helps only. I tried everything ways to solve that problem what i found in the internet (think so =) (wipe cache(both), install androis SDK manager, drivers from Kindle_Fire_Utility_v0.9.6 and so on...).
first PC: win7/i5 3570K/asrock extr4 z77 - usb doesn't work
second PC - notebook samsung RV513-S02: win7/E-450/AMD A50M - usb doesn't work
third: win7/i5-2500/H77 - usb works but very slow (~200KBps)
if anyone has any ideas... please answer here, or email, or skype.
I'd really like to get JB on my KF, please keep updated as to your progress. Thanks

That's right, the most recent Barclays app works on my RAZR i XT890, even though Google Play says "This app is incompatible with your device".
Use this tool to download the APK: http://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/
Copy it to your phone, install and away you go!
:good:
I'm still running ICS btw.

There is another way I did. Just find another not intel android phone install barclays app, do back up of it and then just transfer apk file to razr I and install.
