[Q] New problem driving me nuts - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Something new I began haveing problems with. I am S-OFF, unlocked and rooted, I am everything the phone can do. I was on ViperXL and things went good. Then went to a custom JB 3.18, then the AT&T official OTA came out. Being stupid I did the OTA. just to see what was good or bad about it. Except for the bloat I liked it, did the touchscreen downgrade as suggested by a dev. I got hungry for better again and started flashing customs again. Now I have this problem I can't find the solution.
When I connect usb, HTC sync gives an error, Your device is locked and needs to unlock, please unlock and restart HTC sync, or something like that and the PC can't find the HTC either by a hard disk or by using adb. This all started after the OTA update then flashing custom roms.
So can someone tell me how or where to unlock the phone if its S-OFF , unlocked, etc. For additonal information, it started doing this when I flashed CleanRom 6.1 I think and continues on with most all custom roms now.

I told you a few times in that thread to flash the stock rooted..buttvi guess not

And think I did that . My problem started when I flashed the Clean Rom 6.1. I have had the Clean Rom 5.1 on and no problems and liked it, the reason I went back but then there is the CleanRom 6.1 so I tried that then had problems. Should I just go do a factory reset , relock, do a factory reset, then RUU to 2.20 and start over ?

RUU, but to 1.85 so you get the nice hboot.

I tried the RUU 1.85 and it wouldn't go , so I went back to the RUU 2.20 seems that is the only RUU that will work on my machine. Then I went to CleanRom 5.1 and working on that now. See if that is the better solution. I used ViperXL for a while but too much for customizing there for me. I like simple and easy, seems CleanRom 5.1 is the best.

Random reboot nomatter what i do ??

Hi sensation forum...
I am new to sensation, but not new to android or HTC, as i have 4 different phones with custom firmware on them...
But the sensation give me a lot of problems for some reason...
I have tried ARHD 5.0.2 and Insert Coin 4.0.4, i have also tried Virtuous Inquisition v1.3.0 and HyperSensation CM7.1 v1.2.
The last one is not even ICS based...
All of them give me random reboot cycles...
I have tried 3 different radios also...
Nothing have helped me so far...
I still have a lot of random reboots...
(about every 2-10 min)
When i flash the firmware i use ARHD´s super delete script, but to be shure, i also format everything from within Recovery...
What more can i do here ??
Pleace,if your phone is stable, can you tell me exactly what rom/radio/kernal/ril you use...
My phone was rock stable with factory firmware....
Hey,
When installing roms on the sensation, make sure you follow the guides in the particular thread. It is also important to match recommended radios and rils that go with the specific rom. Make sure you are S-off and cid 11111111. When you are switching roms, you should only have to run the superwipe script, it will set all the partitions for you so that you can flash the rom you choose. Also, before you install ICS, it is recommended that you superwipe BEFORE installing the actual rom to prevent unwanted isssues. Before you do anything else, give me a rundown on what you are currently running.

I have exactly this issue.
I installed ICS Revolution. I had successfully got S-OFF, Installed ClockWork Recovery (updated to latest version), permanently Rooted & obtained SuperCID. I updated radio as recommnded by mike1986 in the ICS post, and wiped the phone with Revolution Super_wipe_Sensation first.
It seemed to run fine apart from Doplhin HD which refused to run properly (so switched to Opera Mobile). However I started to get random reboots.
After a bit I thought to try Insert Coin ICS instead.
I have noticed no real difference in performance and have the identical issue with Dophin HD (back to Opera mobile again).
However I also still have the identical random rebooting issue with this ROM. What else can I do?

I did that with Revolution as well as with Insert Coin this time around. Running the latest version
I'm having the same issue. Did a text book install of AHRD. Everything went super smoothly, but getting these reboots. I have tried to swipe everything, have the latest radio and recommended fw and keep getting these crashes. Not only it's driving me nuts but it makes the phone unuseable... I can't believe we're just 2 to have these problems... Isn't there some king of log we can pull to see what's causing the crash ?
---------- Post added at 08:52 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:52 AM ----------
I suspect it has to do with processor speed that's been tweaked in these roms, but can't seem to find a way to tune it back to stock on the ICS rom...
sorry for the late reply, been busy with holiday stuff.. anyhow, make sure you are NOT installing any mods that are not compatible with the current ICS build. I have had no problems switching between ARHD 3.6.10 and ICS 5.0.2. As long as you have s-off and CID 1111111, you should be good to go. When I changed up from 3.6.10 to ICS 5.0.2, I turned off my phone, went into bootloader, selected the option for recovery, then flashed the superwipe script. After it finished flashing that, it rebooted back into recovery. Following that, I went to install from zip, flashed the updated RUU, cleared cache and dalvik, then flashed ICS 5.0.1 and the 5.0.1 to 5.0.2 update. Everything installed smooth from there.

That's exactly what I did. Can't find anything different between your story and what's I did, up to when I switched to Insert Coin
I also don't think it's related to CPU speed. My phone is the XE model which ran at 1.5 Ghz on stock ROM and only did about 3 random reboots in 3 months; (now it's every couple of hours).

Good luck. Hope it helps. Let us know the outcome. My nandroid backup is corrupted so will need to do full wipe of my SD card and phone I think. Then add in a stock ROM

I'm still getting the reboot on the nand backup (OrangeFR), this sucks big time. Now I'm thinking it may be due to the fw I had to install to use AHRD (PG58IMG) and the new radio. This is where I'm lost. How can I return everything to standard ? If I understand well the ROM doesn't contain those files, they are separate ?
Was thinking that my random reboots were radio or firmware related.
Strange thing is mine have stopped, and all I did was reinstall revolution ICS 5.0.1 then upgrade to 5.0.2. Didn't even wipe first. So even my apps & settings all of which I had installed & configured since I had installed Insert Coin ICS, are all still there. Haven't had a reboot since.

I switched back to ARHD 3.6.9, did a factory reset+wipe, flashed radio 10.59 and all is fine, I'm somehow reluctant to try again...
I found a solution that worked for me... At last...
I am REALLY sorry that i didn´t answer here before, but i have been really bussy, and actually forgot all about it a few days....
NOW, i also thought that i had some CPU spped issue with the roms, becource i can actually get the same kind of reboot problems on my DHD when i run it over 1500 Mhz...
So i thought that i would lock my sensation to max 900 mhz, and then see what happens... NO change... Still random reboot... Strange...
I then installed a Android 2.3 rom, just to get my phone running again... STILL random reboots...
hmmm....
Now i was confused...
At last i tried to flash a different radio one more time...
I found a radio in some other sensation thread... Flashed it and now my phone works stable...
At least with Virtuos Inquisition 1.3.0... (Proberbly the 1.4.0 will also work, but i have not tried it yet...)
The Radio i had the problems with is the one from mike´s thread...
I actually don´t know why, as i have allways had great success with his roms and his releases on my DHD...
The Radio i use now is 10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035-02_2...
But sorry, i can´t remember from what thread...
Ok, this is what i have discovered on this reboot issue...
I hope it make some sense, and that this perhaps can help other with the same problems...
Try turning your phone to recovery.Backup if you havent already....Wipe Data/Factory reset then turn the phone off....
Remove the back cover and the SDCARD.Turn the phone back on and see if it runs ok without the SDCARD, if it does reformat the sd using 4ext recovery and it will also align it.
I spoke too soon.
My phone didn't reboot for a day after I switched back to Revolution ICS 5.0.2 for about a day, then today it began doing random reboots every few minutes. I had not changed any software, just the area (which might have changed signal and frequency the cell tower uses). So I figured it was time to change firmware and radio.
I had previously (prior to installing custom ICS ROM) flashed the radio to 10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2 as recommended by Mike1986 in the Revolution HD ICS thread, and had HBoot 1.7.1111 on my device.
I then downloaded the firmware he posted on his thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618
This has put the phone back to HBOOT 1.20.0000 and radio 11.15.3504.16_M
Now it's working well and no reboots yet.
Here's hoping.. time will tell.
No matter what radio or Rom combo I get random ass reboots
Super annoying. I did notice the battery goes from 100% to 10% during this reboot
I have calibrated battey. Wiped stats. I'm lost.
I have even tried a new battery. Wtf. Any ideas?
i cant even flash stock ruu I get a 171 error!!!!
Im gonna throw this phone at the f-ing wall in a min
if you flashed newest radio 11...x.x..., you have to have newest hboot also (1.20.. , i guess). otherwise, you will get random reboot. I had this issue before, and i just flashed order radio( i don't want to update hboot version). problem is solved

That's certainly consistent with my experience.
Since the changes I made as per my previous post, I've not had a single random reboot

[Q] bootloop after installing ANY custom ROM

Hey there,
I have an interesting problem, and it has completely stumped me for the past couple days. I recently S-Off'd my Sensation, put cwm recovery on it, and set my CID to 11111111.
I haven't had any problems with that (except that I had to change computers to do it, Revolution didn't want to run right on my laptop or set the CID, so I had to use my desktop).
Now the problem comes when I try to flash a custom ROM. The first one I tried flashing was CM7. When it booted, I got a bootloop problem of the CM7 mod logo over and over. I decided maybe it was a problem with CM7 still being in alpha. Then I tried flashing HyperSensation 1.8, and got the same error (bootloop) on the loading screen. After trying various other ROMS, I realized that it was a common problem with all custom ROMS. Luckily I had backed up the stock setup, and was able to get into that. So it's not a problem with the hardware. I have only tried flashing gingerbread ROMS. I know that ICS ROMS need a new firmware, but I dont want to mess with that unless I can actually get a gingerbread ROM working first...
Any ideas? There was a thread or two about this (on other phones) but didn't have any solutions listed..
Thanks for any ideas people can give me!

Hi,
Did you root your phone?
Did you flash the superwipe zip first?
Also are you getting full reboots with HTC splash screen then animation or just the animation looping? Sometimes I have to let mine loop for 5 minutes after first boot of new rom before it settles.

I guess I hadn't done everything.. I didn't factory reset before flashing the new ROM... As soon as I did that it boot right in. That's a bit odd to me, as I didn't have to do that with my last phone.
Anywho, solved.

Cannot make phone call after flashing s4 RUU (Europe version)

"com.android.dialer has stopped unexpectedly" shows every time i try to call.
this happened after i ran 4.1.1 RUU (europe version). however, i switch back to Tmobile version, still counter the same problem.
my phone:
- Tmobile version S4 HTC One S
- S-OFF w/ superCID (11111111)
- now running CM10.1 (phone call features works on this but not on any RUU)
i really want to switch back to official RUU since i get used to sense interface instead of android native.
please suggest! thanks a million!!!
Did you restore any apps, like with TB or ROM toolbox?

i tried viper also...still doesn't work.
i will try to re-download the ruu...wish me luck!
Did you run this one?
ya, seems to be a version for the S One SE if you read through the thread...
So return to latest JB RUU and check for the JB OTA then. You should also perform a full wipe from custom recovery before.

Solution if you are stuck on 2G!!

i found the solution for those stuck on 2g speeds here in the US after flashing an RUU....your phone is probably on ICS 4.03 or 4.04 after you installed the official tmobile RUU...you have to keep checking for software updates on your phone until you get the official JB update installled from tmobile (it was officially posted at the end of April and available as a manual download through the "check software updates" option on your phone). i had to check for updates and install them about 5 times because the RUU i used restored my phone to ICS 4.03...i kept updating until i got to JB (it's going to be very large file, over 600mb).
IMPORTANT!!! --> after the update, your phone will still be stuck on 2g speeds....you them have to do a FACTORY RESET...yes, you have to wipe everything from your phone so make sure you backup to your laptop or something like that and then do a factory reset....once your phone reboots, it should now get 4g speeds (hspa+)...i read through alot of threads since my phone was stuck on 2g after i restored to the official tmobile RUU and finally got it to work after incrementally updating through the "check for software updates" option til the official JB update was installed.....good luck and hope this works for most of those that were stuck on 2g after the previous update!
I tried the above and it did not work. The following did, however, and I GOT 4G BACK on my HTC One S!!
I did not ever have S-OFF, I tried pretty much everything I could think of in terms of factory resets, flashing tons of different ROMs, bootloaders, even going completely stock again with RUU. I'm pretty sure it's a lost cause and a waste of time.
Solution: I relocked my bootloader and sent it in to HTC because I was still on warranty. They had it back to me in a week's time, and 4G now works fine. I'm going to try to find out what they did, whether it was hardware or not. Note: I did get it back with the bootloader being "locked", not "relocked".

4G? You mean 3G? HOS doesn't support 4G. Anyway, glad you fixed it! Considering the bootloader is locked again, I'm guessing they swapped a few parts?
I'm going to try this. I've been stuck on 2G ever since I updated my HBOOT to use 3.4 Kernel ROMs. I will get back to you to see if this method works for me.
how would you go about doing this method if you are coming from a custom ROM?
I'm on UnKnown v1.8 with S-Off on HBOOT 2.15 if that helps.
Yes, I suppose in the interest of accuracy I got H+ back, which shows as "4G" on the Sense UI. I'm really not sure what they did or how I would find out. According to the timeline they gave me it looks like they only had it in repairs for half a day or so, so it was either a simple hardware issue or some kind of deep software reset I wasn't able to access.
doesn't work. tried it the same exact way you said and it didn't work.still on 2G

[Q] Crazy insane inverted touchscreen issue

crazy touchscreen problem
After flashing a ROM my touchscreen x axis seems to have inverted itself, so right is left on the screen.
This problem happens during the recovery screen also
I have tried changing recovery's,Kernals, flashed ROM's that I know work
I have even returned the phone back to stock nothing fixed it.
I have even went as far as removing the motherboard and installing one out of a working phone and guess what it does the same thing.
So i ask all you knowledgeable people WTF wold cause this and how can I fix it ?
these are the last two ROM's I was trying out when all this happened
they both ran without a problem I just didn't like them

mines actually doing the same, and from what i've been reading, i believe it has to do with your hboot version and ics not being compatible with it. try flashing your original ruu if you can. that's what i'm trying to do as we speak. if i ever get my problem figured out, i'll let you know if it works.

This was my test phone I had flashed just about everything you can think of before I would install it on the phone I use every day
I guess my luck ran out
I ended up flashing the phone back to the original firmware and OS version using the factory RUU without a problem
If I try to install anything over 4.04 it goes right back to the same crap
I tried different firmware, kernels, roms with sense/ no sense doesn't matter.
the phone is being sold as I type this and I'm leaving my other two One S phones alone for now on
Nobody should have to go through this much bull for newer OS version so I'm saving for a Nexus 5
Thank you for the suggestion
