I was trying to downgrade my ROM using these instructions:
---------------
1) Download the latest firmware from Asus site (based os your SKU,eg. ww 9.4.5.26 * to downgrade from Jelly Bean you need the 9.4.5.30 firmware)
2) Extract the .zip file somewere on your desktop (the result will be another .zip file, use it for step 3)
3) Rename the extracted archive to "EP201_768_SDUPDATE.ZIP" (without the " ") and upload it to a MicroSD card
4) Insert the MicroSD card in your tablet and use this button combination to Power ON and go to recovery --> Start the tablet by pressing Volume Down and POWER togheter for 5 seconds ,a message will inform you that you have 5 seconds to enter the recovery, press Volume UP before the 5 seconds expire.
At this point the device will go in recovery and should start updating your firmware .
-------------------
but when I booted to the stock recovery, it just show an icon of the android robot lying down with a red icon in its belly. I was trying to take a pic but it's not working

This should work. Double check the file name, for example do you hide file extensions when working on your PC? So you might end up with "EP201_768_SDUPDATE.ZIP.ZIP" Also the exact spelling could be important, e.g. capitalization. (For what it's worth, I didn't check in other threads if you are referring to the correct file name)

Hey whiz kids,
I upgraded to a new NIghtly cm-10.1 for my tf300t through the custom roms app. Problem is I didn't have a upgraded bootloader, it could be as old as honeycomb I don't know. Whats happening now is a the first Asus screen loads up and its just frozen there permanently until the device dies. I can get into RCK and Fastboot. Apparently I don't have a backup either. What are my options?

Whoops, sneezed and clicked the Thanks button. Oh well... you have my thanks.
Load a stock ROM on you microSD (available on ASUS' support website), and flash it from recovery. This should update your bootloader in addition to flashing a bootable ROM. Then, reflash CM's nightly.
It might be better to ask in the 300T section in case there's any slight idiosyncrasy's that differ from the TF700T.
Marty is right though you should be able to flash back to ICS and start over with an unlocked bootloader.
Appreciate the comments back..thanks. I tried the suggested idea, however, the microsd card inserted on the side of the tablet doesnt have an option in recovery to open up and view the files. The only option I have is to look through the internal usb storage drive, since I cant connect the tab to my computer in an way I tried so far, I cant get an old rom into the internal drive.?? Its just frozen on the asus bootloader screen and wont even turn off lol.

Hold down the power button long enough will enventually turn off the device. Make sure it off first then boot into recovery and see if you can access your sdcard. If not working hookup usb cable between pc and your device, boot into recovery (home page), then open adb on your pc and make sure the rom file is in the same directory of your adb command, on your pc run this command to copy file to your internal memory:
adb push c:\folder_where_adb_and rom_zipfile\rom.zip /sdcard
OK..I sent the file using adb push it took like 90secs and it confirmed the asus jellybean firmware (10.4.2.16) file at 100mb. Only problem is is that its not showing up in the sdcard. There are just a bunch of folders with no new .zip files.?? I dont understand why the file wouldn't show up after it says it sent it.
Which custom recovery are you using? Sounds like you need to re-do it from a PC when in fastboot mode ( choose USB icon in boot loader ). Make sure you use the latest TWRP or CWM as they both read the card fine.

If you are at RCK what happens when you press then release (and wait) volume + (up)?
Shamelessly ripped from Pretoriano80's excellent summary thread from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1833212
I copied it here because I wanted to point out the rename step that's needed if you're on stock recovery somehow. I too am curious as to what recovery is active on your system...

Install XXLPY Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Firmware on I9070 Galaxy S Advance
LINK-
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/187838919/fd98d34/I9070XXLPY_I9070SERLPY_SER.zip.html
STEPS-
Android 4.1.2 Official Firmware
1.Extract Firmware zip file that you downloaded already from above link, you will get a .tar file and some other files.
2.Extract Odin zip file and you will get Odin3 v3.07.exe along with few other files.
3.Power off your phone. Wait 5-6 seconds for vibration to confirm complete switch off.
4.Now, put the Galaxy S Advance I9070 phone in Download Mode by pressing pressing and holding down the Volume Down and Home buttons while pressing the Power button until you are welcomed by a green robot indicating you are in Download Mode.
5.Now run Odin3 v3.07.exe (see Step 2) as an Administrator because Admin privileges is required to complete the process smoothly.
6.Now connect your Galaxy S Advance GT-I9070 with your PC using USB cable. A message will arrive under Odin’s message box in the bottom left saying “Added!!”. If you don’t get the same then you should try another USB port (try USB port located in back in your desktop PC). If that too don’t work then you should then reinstall the driver. If you successfully see the “Added!!” message in Odin then you are ready to go in next step. You should also see COM port with a number in Yellow if you successfully added your device.
7.Select these files in Odin at respective buttons from extracted I9070XXLPY firmware folder :
a)Click the PDA Button, and select the .tar file here with *code* appearing in its name
8.in Odin window, make sure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes are selected. Also, make sure that Re-Partition checkbox is selected, only if you are using a .pit file (see Step 7.4).
9.Double check everything that we mentioned in Step 7 & Step 8 above. Now, once satisfied hit the START button to begin the flashing process.
10.Once flashing completed, the phone will reboot automatically and soon you will see a PASS message with green background in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. You can then unplug the USB cable to disconnect your device from computer.
NOTE-If you have PARAMETER ERROR delete.md5,extension should end with .tar and put it in PDA.
ROOT(by shaaan)
How to :
1. Download the zip and place it in the root of your sd card.
PS : SD Card is a must.
2. Reboot to the stock recovery.
3. Select install update from external storage.
4. Select the root.zip file.
5. Viola
Enjoy your rooted JB.

Hello,
I'm a mega noob. Now that's out of the way I posted a question on tomshardware about a broken tablet. I was directed here when ASUS replied to my question. They said to hold the Power Button and the Volume Down button, if I got there then upload the firmware. I don't know the middle part though! So I see a screen with three options. The first one says "RCK", the second one is the Android Logo with the Android name below, finally there's a box with an arrow coming out pointing at a little android guy and the words "Wipe Data". What should I select, what should I do next?
It is running Android 4.2.1 stock, never unlocked
The tablet was working just fine until one day it got stuck on the loading screen and stayed at the screen. If I can fix it, It's mine!
Thank You,
Fast replies are appreciated.
First off, what is your problem? Also, whatever you do, DO NOT SELECT "WIPE DATA" OR YOU WILL BRICK!!!
Is your bootloader unlocked?
Edit
I updated the my Post with more information.

I suggest downloading the firmware from Asus website and downloading the correct firmware. Take care as there are two different versions of the tablet TF300T and TF300G. Once you have downloaded the firmware place it on your SD card. Reboot into the three icon screen and press RCK menu and install/flash the downloaded firmware. If you would like to unlock and root the tablet then I can help you with that too.:good:
Yes you can try the above method to re-flash the stock firmware, however once you have downloaded the firmware zip before you put it on your microSD you will need to unzip this firmware zip and you will find a second zip inside - and this is the zip file that you need to put on your microSD card.
As stated above you can then boot to your bootloader screen and select the RCK which on stock will boot to the stock recovery which will be a green android which should then show a blue progress bar under the green android - let it complete and then the tab should reboot and be all good.
If it does not work you will see the android laying on it's back with chest open - if this is the case you can try the fastboot method to flash the system blob which seems to work even with a locked bootloader - link to my how-to can be found in my sig below, if you need help with any steps just let me know.
A few questions

I usually download the firmware to the PC first as sometimes these tablets seem to have issues downloading large files.
Which firmware version are you wanting flash/install?
When you download the firmware it will be called, depending on which firmware version - TF300T-WW_epad-10_6_1_15_3-UpdateLauncher.zip
Unzip this to a folder and inside you will find another zip called WW_epad-user-10.6.1.15.3.zip - Copy this zip file to your microSD.
With microSD in tab reboot to bootloader - hold vol- & power - In bootloader menu "vol-" is to move between what icon is highlighted.
"vol+" is to select/execute what is highlighted.
Highlight the "RCK" icon and select.
The tablet should now boot to the stock recovery which should a black screen with a green android with a blue progress bar underneath. This should take between 5-10 minutes to complete and then the tablet should reboot. If so the tablet should boot up to the setup wizard to setup the tab, Done. :good:
If this is not the case and you get a green android laying on it's back with it chest open and I think a red explanation icon it has not worked. I would then try the fastboot method of flashing the system blob. Have a look at my how-to in the sig below for details on this method, you will also need fastboot installed on the pc first - Installing android sdk and updating it to the android version your wanting to flash should also install fastboot and adb drivers.
If the first method does not work and you need help with the second just let me know.
hi guys
I'm in android 4.0 (10.4.4.25) and I want to update to android 4.2 (10.6.1.14.8)
I used to update in this way:
((((Alternative Firmware update Method
1. Decompress downloaded .zip file (it will be another .zip)
2. Rename it to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip
3. Format FAT32 the MicroSD card that you will be using for the update process
4. Copy the file to (the root directory of) your MicroSD
5. Insert it into the tablet
6. Shutdown (power off) the tablet
7. Power it on by pressing and holding VOLUME DOWN and POWER buttons simultaneously
8. When you see white text in the top left corner of the screen, release the buttons ^^ and press VOLUME UP button until you see Android logo and process bar
9. Wait patiently for 10 minutes or so))))))
but there is 2 question:
1- I read this thread ((ASUS JellyBean 4.2.1 updates - a warning)) and I want to know if I use that way I sayed, will it be a hard or soft brick for my tf700 or not?(I mean this has the new update the same problem like previous update ?
2- Can I use motochopper in JB 4.2.1 (10.6.1.14.8) to root my device? (my device is unlocked)
(excuse me if my writing has problem, because my English language is not too good.)

I'm not sure what you are trying to ask here -- let me read the thread again. EDIT: you'll be fine -- the issue is/was not with being unlocked but with having a custom recovery that was outdated and couldn't handle the new partition structure correctly. As long as you have the stock recovery (which is the only one that will allow this auto-update route anyway ) you shouldn't run into strange problems as long as you follow the procedure to the letter.
