Hello there,
I accidentally flashed a wrong boot.img with sp flash tool. I can still acces CWM based recovery. I do not have a ROM or boot.img backup and was unable to find either one online. The phone is an Alcatel one touch 916D, since Alcatel is open source, I downloaded the source code blahblah.tar.xz file, it should be possible to flash this to my phone using Odin right? I tried so, but Odin does not detect my phone. So I was wondering, is it perhaps possible to extact/create a boot.img from the source code file I have? I unzipped it and there are the folders kernel, mediatek and webkit. I have not found a boot.img anywhere in the files. I hope someone is able to help me.
thank you,
Jeroen
Edit: this is the wrong location for this post isn't it? How do I move it?
Ya should post it in your mobile forum> in question and answer ,help and troubleshooting .if its there on xda if not then try to post on android question and answer , troubleshoot . this is the wrong location brother..
Hit the thx if i ever helped ya .

I know and this is my problem, how can i kow what is the right one? have you anything to suggest me?
Thank
Finally... Installed CWM based recovery 5.5.0.4 on ALPS X825a !!!!
As i didn't have any clue about this matter, I decided to study and read a lot... but there was a very few information about this X825a model...
So I also decide to assume certain risks as I'm not expert in Boot, fasboot and so on...
But here you are the steps I did:
1 Install "Mobileuncle MTK Tools" APK from Google Play. This is a very useful tool for MTK processors, among other utilities I've found one for direct flashing recovery.img file.
2 Extract the file "recovery.img" from the ROM included on the link (inside x825a.rar) of this thread #20: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28423697, I have not tried to install the ROM or rest of things included but just the recovery.img file.
3 Put this recovery.img on root in your SD card
4 Select on Mobileuncle:"Recovery Update" and then select the first file in the list (is your recovery.img) and accept...
5 END... of beggining
RE:
Hi! i have tried to install the CWD and it work, GREAT! Now someone have a mode to suggest me?

Hi Guys,
Before you guys shoot me down, Just wanted to say, i searched XDA for 2 hours, couldn't find the exact reply. And a few topics are open since a year with no reply, So thinking that someone will reply to me. I am opening this "Need Help" Ticket.
I have a micromax a110 with 4.04 - as i got no update ever! So what i did was
Rooted the phone properly as per the procedure.
Downloaded the CWM 6.0.4.9 recovery [selinux] and flashed it with Recovery Link :http://forum.xda-developers.com/mic...opment/recovery-cwm-6-0-4-9-recovery-t2789175
Downloaded the [ROM][4.2.2] CanvaS5™ V1.1 Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2775553
After flashing the rom properly, when i reboot the phone, it gets stuck on the boot screen forever. Am i doing something wrong? Should i have flashed a kernel? or something. Please note, i am not looking into going back to stock, as i have moved into the dark side of the root world .
Since i have just been a Read-only user of XDA for all this while(more than a year), with no posts ever, i cant request for help on the Developer Thread as it requires privileges. Requesting someone to please post this topic there so i can speak to the dev or please give me a answer to help me:silly:
4.2.2 won't support SELinux

That Recovery you flashed is SELinux enabled and is not supported by 4.1-4.2.2 Jelly bean Roms so you have got boot loop . You can try other recovery or flash higher android version roms .
---------- Post added at 05:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:06 PM ----------
I think this CWM recovery will work with your downloaded rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2204785
And remember before flashing anything clear data, cache and dalvik-cache.
Happy Flashing
Thanks guys for the reply, let me flash the above CMW and check. Will revert shortly
How to i put the CMW in the phones root directory now for it to flash? The phone doesnt start so cant access it through usb. Any ideas?

Since your phone is not booting you should use SP Flash tool on PC to flash the recovery. Here's a guide to SP Flash tool:

Hope it works .

Hey shreyas,
I have tried it with SP tools, it doesnt work, man. Drivers, Softwares, updated all of them, i keep doing everything. I know i am doing something wrong, but its hard to identify, spent like the entire night trying to make it. Can't i get a flashable zip for CMW instead or know that on which rom did the CWM selinux work on? This boot looping is now killing :fingers-crossed:
Finally, i found a way, thanks 4Shreyas for all the help. Gave me knowledge and helped me identify the errors.
I couldn't flash the rom or the cmw recvoery through the pc as the drivers for SP tools never worked on my Win 8.1 x64. Finally applied the stock jellybean file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2160609 . It updated my CMW since that was the problem i was stuck in bootloop.
After that i flash the phone with my desired rom.
In the end, all good:laugh:

Cheers bro !!!! Yes getting MTK drivers in win 8 is a challenging task and as SELinux CWM recovery is concerned you can flash 4.3.x and 4.4.x roms . Google it , if any rom is available then use that recovery to flash those roms .
Enjoy !!

True that, i actually gave up trying to find the drivers. There arnt any 4.3 or 4.4.x roms released for mmx. When they do, will surely apply the Selinux CWM. Thanks for all the help .:good:
Can somebody plz tell me how to change the recovery into .IMG(stock) I founded the stock ROM partition
Here it is " /dev/block/platform/sdhci-tegra.3/by-name/SOS"
Should I use a "dd if etc of abc.img" command in terminal,
Sorry the above mentioned path is the partition of recovery
Hi there,
maybe this thread will help you in your try: [Q] How To Extract Stock Recovery.img From an android device
You can ask directly there or straight in this forum: > Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck
Hey man! I need your help as well as I can give you the solution.
Well the solution is I think you can extract the recovery.img using flashify app. Just download and select back up and back up recovery. Hopefully it should be in .img format
And there's not much development for xolo play tab 7.0 and I think you won't be finding cwm recovery for it. I have searched a lot but in vain.
And so I just flashed a wrong cwm recovery and my tab lost its recovery. Fearing my tab would get bricked any time I messed up and ended with soft bricking.
So the help I need from you is just use the flashify app and extract the recovery.img and send me that file to me by mail.
We ll discuss further when you reply man! I need your help badly! Waiting for your reply

It might be possible for you to use fastboot to boot temporarily boot a CWM or TWRP without actually flashing, this can be done with a recovery that isn't specifically built for your exact model, it won't harm your device because it doesn't flash the recovery onto the device, it only boots and is gone when you reboot.
I DO NOT PROVIDE HELP IN PM, KEEP IT IN THE THREADS FOR EVERYONE TO SHARE
base kernel address

Hi Rob.
Did you manage to do it? Which is the command to boot with a recovery without flashing? Which custom recovery can be used for this tablet?
Thanks
Still working on it
The command is fastboot boot (pathtocustomrecov)
But I'm still getting invalid kernel address trying to get SP flash tool to backup stock but not having much luck without a scatter file :s
Rob, according to a tweet from SRS Root, they can root various versions of the B3-A30.
Do a search for "acer b3-a30 root srsroot" to check it out. I've not yet tried it myself (just got the tablet yesterday).
Hopefully that can help you out.
I've tried with srsroot and didn't work thanks in any case. Any other idea?

I'm trying to compile Android from source with BBQLinux and the guide from codeworkx (thank u sooo much):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2695242
But there is a step where it asks for boot.img or recovery.img of the phone and I can't access to mine cause I didn't have it rooted when it blew up. I can just access fastboot and was trying to flash custom recovery but it is not out there out of the box compiled by someone else so I decided to do it and then sahre it here. The thing is that I am stuck here. If someone has custom recovery for my phone model would be awesome but I still want to compile the whole thing in order to learn a bit. Please help me, I need the boot.img or recovery.img.
Thank u in advance!!
