I've found this to be pretty useful. Admittedly, it doesn't have midi, but according to the dev it is being added...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.extreamsd.aemobile
Thats pretty nice, but i would like to use my tablet for midi keyboard sounds.
I must admit I'm getting a bit tired of the "whine, whine, whine, iPad x does this and the TF700 doesn't" posts.
If there's not an app for it, it's not even the fault of the 700 -- it might be that the iOS ecusystem is more uniformand easier to program for. Not the device's fault.
And even then, just stick to the iPad x and be merry.
There's no Android app for it.... And you're blaming one singular Android tablet?
Oh, there's no electricity-powered availablility for petrol cars, it's the Hyundai Santa Fe's fault!
Mate, please go back to your iPad. Asus has nothing to do with the app developers; neither does Apple.

Android is not the ipad, there should be no comparison. If you are unhappy then get/use an ipad. Android may not have what your wanting, but looking at your setups, its got a lot more storage and power than an ipad could ever wish it had. Android has hundreds of devices, you cannot pinpoint 1 companies' or device's fault. Blame the app developer for not making an android version.

It's simple - some devices are better for some tasks. There are also many things that a TF700 can do that an iPad can't (any iPad).
If midi is that important to you, you've obviously made the wrong decision as to which device to get. I would think that if a certain application is so important to me, that I would research the availability of such an application before deciding which device to buy. If there is any "fault" here, it is of your own, my friend!
It's silly to blame a particular device because an application doesn't exist for it. I'm sure that the TF700 is capable of doing what you need, but unless there is a demand for it and a developer willing to develop it, that is certainly not the fault of the device manufacturer.

Perhaps you can find something here: http://android.appstorm.net/roundups/music-roundups/the-ultimate-android-app-guide-for-musicians/
As others have already stated, the support for niche use cases like yours can vary greatly from platform to platform. If most musicians are on iOS, you cannot expect the same App support on Android.
It's like buying an iPad and then complaining that there are no custom ROMs available

Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
The Galaxy tab is the better of the two but i would really recommend you spending the (maybe) extra $100 and getting a Transformer Prime, it's the thinnest and most powerful tablet of the market
xoom, but wait til xoom 2 comes out, it will be amazing!
Looking at the transformer right now...
When is the xoom 2 coming out?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
The Xoom 2 is already out. It's called the Motorola Droid Xyboard in the US, and the Xoom 2 everywhere else in the world. The Xoom 2 is NOT a Google Experience device like the original Xoom was. It's full of Motorola and Verizon bloatware and I believe it has a few UI customizations too. It's not stock Honeycomb.
If having a Google Experience device matters to you (meaning having all the latest updates and using Android in vanilla form as Google made it), then get a Xoom. If that doesn't matter as much to you, then get a Galaxy Tab or an Asus Transformer Prime.
I personally have a 4G LTE Xoom and love it.
That's actually very good information... thanks for that...

Depends, When your being attacked by a man for what ever reason, which tablet would you think will be able to knock him out and still be usable?
Durability is my #1 requirement when buying a tablet.
The Xoom is only a Google experience device if it is sold in the states otherwise it's a tablet that's a few versions behind.
The transformer, while not a google experience device it is really quick on updates like it gets them within a month-ish of being released. That may not seem fast but it has consistently been the most quickly updated tablet and the only skin on it is changing the look of the buttons on the device.

+1 for the Galaxy Tab. I bought this for my wife for Christmas and she loves it. The only downfall that I can point out is: 1) No USB port, 2) No external memory.
But hey, if you have dropbox, or a wifi connection, USB isn't needed. And just make sure you get enough internal memory to last you.
+1 for the Galaxy Tab.
Compare the specs and hardware of the Xoom against the Acer Iconia , more bang for the buck with Acer, and you can find them for $250 ish
I like how the movies play more in a wide screen format compared to the Ipad and Xoom...and XDA does have pretty robust forum.
The Iconia does beat the rest on port selection; its left edge is home to a 3.5mm headphone jack and a mini-HDMI port, while the right side holds full-sized USB and Micro USB ports. Under the port cover on the top you'll find a MicroSD card slot, taped-over SIM card slot, a rather stiff volume rocker, and a rotation lock switch. The USB 2.0 port is certainty a bragging right for the Iconia,

Also, faced with the same question, my money went (today) on a Xoom. My wife's playing on it right now, while I post from my ancient dell latitude running Ubuntu. It's not even the latest ver of Ubuntu. What's up with that?
John
Xoom. I tried it in a local store yesterday and I loved the pure Google experience. I also tried the Xoom 2 but it had Motoblur including all the icons which made it look bad in my opinion. I'm the type of person who likes the pure Google experience. The Galaxy Tab is too similar to an iPad in my opinion and I don't like Touchwiz either.

The Galaxy tab is the best tablet
Sup everyone want to ask you a question in my decision of a tablet. Well i recently bought a kindle fire and after a using it with cm7, ive really liked using android and a tablet. So im thinking of upgrading to a another tablet with better specs and bigger screen. I was looking at the asus transformer tf101 and acer a500 cuzz there both in my price range used. So which is better? Should i buy either one, hold out for something upcoming or stick with the fire. I was sold on asus tf101 because it got the ics update.
Hmm That;s great
Well from a quick google search, the a500 looks a bit cheaper than the other one. I'd just ask myself if ICS is worth the extra money. It really depends on what you use your tablet for. You may be fine just keeping the fire.
the evo view looks pretty good...all depends on your carrier doe
iPad 3.
I personally like the HTC Jetstream and Flyer. They are very nice devices.

I am with the friend here but I believe that the ICS is sure worths the extra bucks...this is the point here, if you get the ICS tablet then you should be closer to happening now android things...
Asus 101 had it loved had to sell it Acer is super thick wouldn't go that route plus t.f. can be a laptop if needed
Sent from my XT875 using xda premium
I've used both and I like the Acer A500 more. They both are the same spec, the Acer build quality is good actually.
The Transformer can be a laptop, but to me its pointless because it is a tablet and if I wanted to buy it for laptop ability then I would have bought a Windows laptop to run Microsoft Office or other heavy desktop program that Android can't.
The real reason I prefer the A500 is that it has a fullsize USB on the device itself, this is a big win. But the Asus sliding tablet has both a slideout keyboard and USB which beats them both in term of functionality.
USB is nice however you can buy a USB host and your good Acer seemed way to thick compared to Asus imo

Flyer definitely!!!1

If you are looking for a used tablet with the future capabilities of ICS and want a quality tablet then I recommend the current Galaxy Tab 10.1 which is set for an ICS update in the future. Its a nice device...
Personally I wanted to get an Acer Iconia, But when I saw the Asus Transformer TF101 I decided it was the one. Bought the dock a week later. and now with ICS out and being developed its gotten alot smoother
Asus transformer all the way

I would go for the transformer (or prime if you can afford it) because a) ICS and b) the keyboard attachment is really great
Why not take you Kindle Fire you have now and try out some of the ICS Roms? I mean some of them dont have HW Acceleration but the devs working on them should get that working anyday now! I have a Kindle Fire w/ ICS and it is amazing!
I've invested $200 into HP Touchpad
10" 1.2 MHz duo-core machine, overclockable.
Waiting for ICS beta for it

It's not FHD because of licensing requirements I think. Android is free to license (one of the reasons it took over the smartphone market). Windows is charging for their OS though I'm sure its less for the stripped down ARM OS.
Reminds me of when Windows phone was a huge player. Then it completely died to android because droid was free and Windows Portable (orwhatever it was called) cost 30 bucks a phone.
It may be a big reason why Windows decided to screw over OEM manufacturers a bit and make their own Slate devices. They need to establish marketshare before manufacturers will want to pay too much for Windows OS.
3 mobile operating systems are good.
It's better to have 2 offending invaders vs one...
I get tired of trashing iOS even tho I know little about it other than it seems to work.
Now Windows is a different story...the evile empire from the West will again rise to gather
the rabble of those who have forgotten and cast them into the depths!!!
Be advised...poor souls we will soon be cross-linked and blue screened....

Very unlikely since you can't buy Windows RT and it's closed source.
I think what i want to know is not the quantity of RAM but if the DR3 is dual channel or not. Dual channel DDR3 would be a nice bump. But i bet its a 2gb single channel stick.

IMHO get the TF700T. I have had the TF101, TF201 and of the three the TF700T is the most stable and the berst featured unit. As for rooting, I tried that for a while when android first became popular but not that android if much more mature as an OS I do not feel the need to tinker with it plus the features that come along with the OS and applications meet my needs as a user.
The note 10.1. From what I hear its more stable and at that resolution more apps work for it.

Before the release of Jelly Been, the Glaxy note 10.1 is clearly a winner over both transformers. It's very stable and works well. Both of our Transformer are not working as expected, many issue. My family (4 people) has refused to use it because the browser is suck, the pad randomly stutter/freeze etc..I have rooted and installed browse2ram, it helps, but no where near normal. Seriously, my 600$ Infinity is sitting inside my draw waiting for the Jelly Been update. This is my true honest opinion. Many claimed that it's OK, but it's not and hope for Jelly Been release will solved all the issues.

He is just trolling you. Don't be a suckered. The Infinity is badass! Best electronic purchase in 4 years. It literally blows away the competition. The Infinity is the flagship android device that every other manufacturers is trying to emulate. The jelly bean update will make it more intuitive and is smooth as butter. Can't wait! :good:
IF you want out of the box stability go for the note 10.1... If want Full HD and a mini hdmi port then you go for the Infinity.. If you want an awesome Pen for writing or drawing go for the Note.. If you want the tablet with keyboard/battery to make it look like a notebook laptop go for the inifinity. If you want your tablet to control act as a remote/tvguide, dual front facing stereo speakers go for the note. If you can decide still... Go to best buy order the infinity and note at the same time and play with them and return the one you are not satisfied with before the return window runs out.

I was in your boat a few weeks ago (a tablet for school deciding between these two). Bought the tf700 and returned it a few days later for the note 10.1. The tf700's performance issues werent worth the $500. It had a lot of trouble loading magazines from Google play and anything else highly detailed. My wife's original tab 10.1 was loading things faster. The speakers are also terrible but wasn't the deal breaker.
The note is fast, stable, and more useful for school, but after seeing the screen on the tf700, I couldnt possibly stay with it. PDFs and textbooks for school look a million times better on the tf700. You could stay zoomed out on magazines and still read the text. The notes screen just hurt my eyes.
I returned the note and decided to wait for something better. A note 2 FHD would be awesome....
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
The Note 10.1 is better for school IMHO, the note taking and multi-tasking.
I thought the Infinity was the best and the keyboard feature is awsome, but then again an Asus netbook can be had for 250 euros.
Here in europe you can only get the 64gb keyboard inifnity for 710 euro!
I ordered the Note which was 475.
The Asus also has a lot of issues, for a tablet of that price.
It would have been great if the sammy had FHD screen, but the digitizer was the reason why it was kept at 720.
For taking note, doing research and reading and annotatin pdf I see the Note being the better choice.
The 700 is good, but if you really need a keyboard a netbook does the job and you can use full windows apps.
How well has the TF700 held up in the past year? I've heard of its lagginess, but I'm willing to add CROMI to it, which I hear improves its performance dramatically.
I'll be using this tablet for media consumption (music, streaming movies/ shows, movie file playback, etc.), eBook reading, general web browsing, and the occasional GBA emulating.
Basically, I'll be looking to have this tablet for at least around a year before I upgrade, so should I look to the TF700?
Asus will release a new gadget soon. If you can wait some more weeks.
Otherwise, both are very good tablets. I really love mine.
If I can bought another one, definitely I'm going to Xperia Z. Take a look. Seen to be very good one.
My best advice is that you should wait for the upcoming Transformer Infinity with Tegra 4, it will outclass both the Nexus 10 and the tf700 in terms of hardware. Nevertheless, if you need to get a tablet now, and since you mentioned GBA emulating, I would recommend the tf700 because it has this really awesome thing called the keyboard dock. I don't know how easy it is to connect a Bluetooth keyboard to the Nexus 10, but on the tf700 with the dock, you can map all the on-screen virtual buttons to the hardware keys on the dock when you run those GBA emulators. How awesome is that? Running GBA games with real buttons is a joy.
Other than that, the Nexus 10 is obviously the faster device. Just my 2 cents.
I would just wait. The next generation of tablets are right around the corner.
Sent from my HTCONE
I would definitely just wait. The Transformer has some pretty bad problems with performance due to poor I/O speed. So, if you were going to get one right now, I would get the Nexus 10.
Wait to see what the new one is going to do.
