I dropped my skyrocket in a fish tank. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I was holding my gfs fish bowl in her car, the tank had a open top and my phone was on the dash board. When she took off the phone slid right in. It was in the water for about 1 minute or less. I got it out and took the battery, sim card, memory card out. When we got home I tried to turn it on, and i thought it was done, so what i did was put my phone and battery on my Xbox for like 30 minutes or until I thought it was dry.
Well after that I put everything back in, plugged the charger up and turned it on. At first the screen would turn off, the colors were washed out. So I let it sit over night on the charger without the memory card or Sim in. The next morning everything worked except lte. The phone was running just fine and could hold a charge for 8 hours while being used throughout the day, even though that little water mark sticker turned pink on the battery . But i have been using a different phone because I thought data didn't work. Well this morning I popped my sim card back in and bam! Lte is back!
So after all this happened I really learned to appreciate the skyrocket. Oh and if you read this far down and are wondering, I was running the phone naked except for a zag shield. The ROM Im using is Avatar. But thanks for reading and hope this doesn't happen to me again! Or any one of us on here!

You clearly have read none of the threads on submerged phones Lol basically you're extremely lucky i would never ever recommend taking the same actions you did.

[Q] Power up without battery

My phone has water damage and I'm not sure if it is the battery or the phone (I'm assuming the later, but just in case). Is it possible to power on my G2x without the battery in it?

If the phone recently gotten water damage then I recommend not powering it up for about 3-4 days to let the water dry out. Water can short out the electrical system and cause big problems.

leave it alone for 1 week minimum
bag of rice for sure 2 days minimum, washed my old mytouch 3g in the washer for 2 minutes, through it in a bag of rice went out for the weekend came back and turned it on with only some screen wash inside of it. DO NOT POWER IT ON AT ALL
Washed my Nexus One. I tried the rice trick and a couple of days on top of a hot radiator with no luck, the phone would lock up or reboot. So I bought a G2x and forgot about the Nexus in a desk drawer.
2 months later I tried the N1 again and it suddenly worked fine. I put my buggy G2x away for couple of weeks and went back to the once wet Google phone without any issues at all.
The G2x is back in my pocket now though, ROMs like Weapon 2.0 have me loving it like the cool new gadget I'd always hoped it would be.
ya the rice trick works... if you don't turn it on... but the poweron without the battery? i have no clue... wish you the best of luck or try and send it back? hopefully you wont get charged for a new one....
I try to turn on phone with no battery. And it will not turn on.

Dropped Phone In Toilet!!

My friend dropped her brand new Razr HD in toilet today. She pulled it out pretty quick and turned it off. I'm wondering if there is anything else she can do other than wait for it to dry out before turning it back on? How long should she wait?
The crazy thing is the reason she bought this new phone is she dropped her old Droid 4 in the toilet too. It worked for a while but we turned it off and started blowing canned air in the ports to get the water out and bunch came out. After 15 min or so she tried to turn it back on and the phone would work but the display wouldn't.
Anyways, any advice would be much appreciated.
Open the phone up as much as you can and put it in a bag of rice or sylica packets.

My friend dropped her Atrix HD in the toilet and pulled it out just as fast. I told her to put it on a bag with some rice and leave it for a few days. After that, I took a look at it and managed to make it boot up after leaving it on the charger for a while. Luckily, everything worked after that, although the screen had a few water drops on the inside that took a while to dry out.
since the phone has an integrated battery, it wasn't such a good idea to use the canned air, you should've put the phone in rice and/or dried it using a handkerchief or something like that..
Anyway, try to disassemble it and hope for the best
I keep hearing of people dropping their phone in a toilet, like you really can't set it down for 2 minutes or close your legs if you are taking a number 2? I just don't understand how one accidently drops anything besides waste into a toilet, but best of luck to you I've heard the rice trick is about the extent of the tricks for water damage.
Droid RAZR HD (current)
LG Optimus One P-504 (For Sale)
What's worked for me with a friends iPhone was to power down, pull the SIM and shake / smack as much water out the openings and use a hairdryer for the rest. Leave it off for at least 24 hours.
Rice has the potential for getting inside the phone.

the mistake that most people make is, to turn the device on before trying to fully dry it out in the rice for a few days.
Trying to turn it on prematurely just makes a bad matter worse.

[Q] Phone Dropped In Water...

Hey guys. So I know a few things about this phone and have been taking pretty good care of it...only two drops from about three feet away from the ground. However, I dropped it in the toilet today. Now, I put it in rice for two hours and then got it out. I tried to turn the thing on, and it succeeded. The bad thing is, when I turned it on, before my boot animation ended, the screen flickered and turned off, and that's when I pulled the battery out of my phone and continued to leave it in rice as I type this right now. Is my phone busted permanently, or is there some hope?
You should have left it to dry like 24 hrs or more. You might have fried it. Let it sit at least over night and keep your fingers crossed.

Does the fact that a rice grain being in the headphone jack have to do anything with my phone screen flickering? I'm sorry, I'm being paranoid right now, but I'm just desperate to get any info I can to fix my phone up...I need it tomorrow....

That's called wishful thinking. I seriously doubt the rice grain is the problem.

I got a friend who dropped his phone in the water once. He did the rice trick but waited for more than 24 hours before attempting the first boot.
Now his phone works great except for battery issues. He has the Galaxy Nexus, so he can't change the battery easily. He'll just wait and buy a new phone someday. He just has to keep a charger near!
What about your phone? Anything new?
Well I tried this morning, the screen first started to go sort of whitish during the boot animation. Then, the screen returned to normal but remained unresponsive to my touch...I'm leaving it to dry more because I guessed that water was still near the screen, causing it to be unresponsive.
I've done this exact thing and the phone from it, mostly. I had constant signal issues afterwards and got rid of it.
The rice does seem to work, but.. you're supposed to take the battery out immediately and put it all in the rice to dry. 2 hours isn't going to cut it.
Ok guys...so my phone turns on and does function properly...problem is,,,the touchscreen doesnt work...should I put it back into the rice?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but, sounds like its toast.. you can try though. Continuing to take it out of the rice and turning it off/on wont help.

You should have taken it apart and left it in the rice for a couple days as soon as it got wet. Now it really doesn't stand much of a chance. You screwed up bro.
You can still try though.

Nexus 5 Dropped it in the toilet -_-

I know there are many threads about this but some didn't cover my questions and they don't say what to do when you have done things you aren't supposed to do.
So I dropped it in the toilet, I don't even know how but as soon as I did I took it straight out, dried it with a towel and TRIED TO TURN IT ON AND CHARGE IT. I later found out that I shouldn't have done these things. Anyway afterwards I put it in a container of rice with the lid shut. It seems to be much drier now but still isn't working, however the computer makes a sound when I plug it in. I then went and took the back cover off and saw one of the wires (on the right side) seemed to have a busted resistor, I was wondering if that was the problem and it could be fixed?
P.S. When I charge it all I get is a red light.
I'm from Australia so country related help would be great.
UPDATE: I just plugged it into the computer again and the screen seemed to light up a bit for about 30 seconds and the phone vibrates when I hold the power button.
UPDATE 2: I can hear noises like the screenshot noise and the volume up and down noise.
You forget tot wipe the sh!t of. What about the rice? Stil beable to eat it? Or taste it like sh!t? Wrong forum btw.

Sorry about the wrong section I didn't realize that there was a troubleshooting one there. Please use proper English next time.
I am getting notifications and the notification LED is working but the screen just lights up without anything on it.
Keep it a few more days in the rice. I hope you didn't fried it. Do not try to charge or connect to pc yet, don't power on for some time. After 2 or 3 days on rice, try to start it up. If it vibrates but not starting you need to wait some more time on rice or just go to a repair shop. Don't try to charge the damn thing !!!
I had to keep my x10i about 7 days on rice, I almost abandoned it, but it's working just fine now.
God luck.

Thank you, I just took it off charging straight away. Is there a specific way I should do the rice and will it still work if I have been charging it but it still vibrates etc as you described?
Rule number 1 after dropping electronics in water:
turn off and leave to dry for at least 3 days before turning on again.
If you follow this rule, you'll have luck in 80% of the cases.

I know but seeing as I already broke that rule, is there much hope with this?
Should be completely covered in rice. Vertical positioning is recommended, keeping about 2 or 3 centimeters from the botom of the jar ( or bag or whatever ). Shake it slowly every day then put it back on rice. I have no idea if it will work or not, even without charging it, it's about how much water got inside.

Ok, thanks, I don't think very much water got inside, when I opened it there was just a bit on the back cover and some condensation on the front-facing camera.
I hope you get lucky. I didn't disassemble mine completely, just the back cover, battery, sim and SD card, but it wasn't a nexus.

Search for threads about how to clean the board with alcohol so it doesn't corode.
More than likely you're out of luck cause you turned it on and even plugged it in directly after. It's likely shorted out now.

It seems like everything but the screen is working. As I said it seems like a resistor blew, couldn't I just replace that little cable?

Nexus 5, cup of tea and red light of death

Sister-in-law dropped her Nexus 5 into a mug of tea. Almost completely submerged. Only the USB port was sticking out. Red light of death appeared. Phone was put in a bowl of rice and eventually put in the hot press. Still had the red light of death. Tried charging it. Red light of death was constantly on and no sign of life. Today, 3 or 4 days after the accident, I took the back off, unscrewed the battery connection and pulled it off then fitted it back on. Held the power button on for four seconds as per normal and the phone turned on and is working 100%. Hope this helps other Muppets who drop their phones in a mug of tea lol
It's called lucky!
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app
Hhahaha glad it survived, most of the people whose got their phones submerged cant get it to work again like you did, lucky guy!
Hey Charlie, how's it going?
That was really lucky. I would suggest giving the metal parts of the circuit a clean with alcohol though after any liquid contact. Also, not sure what a hot press is but any heat can cause the liquids to evaporate, which means steam travels and condensates on yet even more critical parts. Definitely lucky.
(Its dan by the way)
Hi Dan,
Just saw this on my phone. Sorry for not replying. Hot Press is the airing cupboard or the cupboard where you immersion heater goes.
Phone is still working fine. Thanks
