Battery Eater: Google Services? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I kept my (at 100% when I went to sleep) phone unplugged last night while I slept to see how it does when it's idle. (when I'm working I'm running WiFi tether which obviously sucks battery life so I've not seen how it sits.
6 hours later I woke up to A battery at 71%, which was kind of surprising. I've attached some screen shots.
I run CleanROM 6 with its stock kernel. Would a different kernel help?

Are you on Wi-Fi at home? I've read some people having this issue and they've turned off the Wi-Fi power management feature and it seems to resolve this. Settings--wi-fi--menu key-- advanced should get you to the right menu (I'm on an aosp rom so not sure if it's in the same exact place).
Also an app like Better Battery Stats might provide more specific information about whatever is draining you.

Same place I described. It's the box "Wi-Fi optimization."

Thanks Dearborn! I just changed the setting so hopefully it works! I didn't even know that existed!

I have the same prob since CR6v2 (50% Google Service batt use when relatively idle) and have always had my wifi set to stay on when sleeping (assuming that's the setting you're talking about). It seems clear via GSAM and normal batt stats that Google Services is causing wakelock. GSAM says, "included packages Google Contacts Sync" but I'm not sure if that's conclusive or if it's just providing an example.

[Q] [HELP] Draining battery

Hello,
I need some help with my evo...i have it running on the fresh 3.5 ROM and netarchy-toasts kernel, latest version and all. I am overclocking as well, but nothing to drastic. Until recently, the battery life on my phone went into the ***** literally. Before it went 24 hours plus with medium to heavy usage. Now i can leave the screen on and literally (no exaggeration) watch the battery drain sliver by sliver. I just did a complete data wipe and reflashed the rom and kernel both in hopes of resolving the issue, but its still draining. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I really need this fixed but cant figure it out on my own :/
edit: the only time this happens is when the screen is on, when the screen is off it STILL DOES drain more than usual, but nothing compared to what happens when its unlocked. My though is that an app is running in the background eating up my batter life, but i have no clue what it is or how to locate it.
This is what the battery usage is looking like. Always Android system up at the top

I forgot to mention that i have juicedefender installed already, and set cpu with profiles as well. one of the profiles is for when the screen is off, set for 300/300 (not accurate, but is set around that)
If its going as fast as you say (literally draining in an hour or so) I would say check your batter, try a new one. Otherwise you already have juice defender (which I tried and it really didn't do much else) so everything should be covered. Try wiping Dalvik cache, also try wiping batter stats (both are in clockwork recovery under the "advanced" tab.
Good luck and sorry if this doesn't help
Hey,
Download Juice Defender and AutoKiller fro the market and watch the Magic. me and you have the same phone and same rom. Note: delete any tsk Managers ou have because they will interfere with juice defender..

[Q] Battery!?!?!?! is this normal?

I know this is pretty heavy usage but i was hoping that the infamous 17day standby time nexus s would handle much better.
My phone is used but it is new to me. I reset the battery stat file yesterday afternoon. Does my battery need more time to recalibrate?
here is my usage graph for today.

I made a comment about GPS being on because my eyes decieved me and I thought he had had it on the whole time. I was wrong lol
I was on the internet most of the day and I read somewhere that google maps and latitude were using lots of battery... you can see from this graph that there was a slight drop in battery discharge rate.
Anyone else finding this?

Latitude seems like one of the reason since it constantly requires GPS.

Turn WiFi off when screen turns off?

What is the most efficient way of accomplishing this? I am on Slim ICS, and even if you set the sleep policy to "Never," I'm sick of waiting 15 minutes for the radio to turn off. It's actually terribly draining on the battery.
Any ideas?
WiFi really shouldn't drain that much. I find it drains much less than 3G

you can find the GreenPower on google play, it offers you to turn off wifi, 3g and manage many things else to save your battery

In theory, you're right. But in this pic, you can clearly see a steeper slope when WiFi is active. This is with about 1:40 of display time and rather light usage

to me it looks like the sharpest decline is when you don't have a mobile connection

I'm also using Slim and under Settings > ASS (Advanced Slim Settings) > Power Saver there's a section under Advanced Settings called Screen-off Wi-Fi action that you can change to turn of wifi when you're screen is off. Make sure you also check the toggle "enable power saver" at the top of the power saver menu.
Having said that, I find that leaving wifi on all the time extends my battery because I don't have very strong cell phone service at my house and it's easier for my phone to check for email or google voice texts and only have to reach my router which has good service rather than strain to reach the cell phone tower.
If that doesn't work you could use Tasker or Setting Profiles. I find SP to be more user friendly.

I am on SlimKat 5.0 with latest stable Trinity Kernel. Will link a kind person that offered to help me. Any suggestions on how to fix this drain would be great though! I'm not sure how to read BBS screens.

looks like google play services is getting you, its the nlpcollectotwakelock and nlpwakelock. try using the disable service app to stop those wakelocks coming from google play services.

Yep the screen shots aren't showing anything out of the ordinary, the gms wake aka goole play services is at 6m for 2h30m, if you're using Google now then it's normal.
Post new screen shots after a whole day of use and will take it from there.
Okay, so I believe I have this figured out.
I recently switched ROMs and I know some of the newest gapps have been draining battery badly. Also, I think those updates in combination with using "battery saving" location while at work was draining the battery more than I am accustomed to.
I work next to an airport and the radar messes with signal I believe.

App power consumption not being displayed

Hi all,
This is my first post so sorry if it's the wrong place or just plain stupid.
Under power management, the power consuming apps section displays "currently no apps to report" for both unused apps and consuming apps. Anyone else have this problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Normal. That means you have no misbehaving apps consuming an abnormal amount of battery

I forgot to close my SSH client some weeks ago (with an active connection to my home router), and it was reported
Thanks for clearing that up. Only got my phone on Sunday just been trying to work out why the battery is going down quick. Used about 25% since 9 am this morning.

But under battery /screen how much time has the screen been on?
Sent from my Xperia z5 using Tapatalk
Well it's now 15:16 and I'm now on 39% total screen time 2:44.
This is with brightness at lower setting and no wifi only mobile 4g.
I've been using chrome a fair bit and Spotify
But Spotify doesn't seem to actually effect my battery much at all.
How does that compare to others?
Just want to know if it's normal.
Thanks again
Ignore me. It's chrome it's used 43% of my battery.
I guess thats the rma (radio mobile active) bug , try disabling mobile data and use wifi to see if there is a difference in battery drain

Could you plz tell me the name of the theme you are using? I think the navigation buttons are really beautiful. Thx
Guyz, m not using WiFi even for a minute but in battery stats it's always on, and i think it's eating my battery faster.
Any solution or anyone else facing it?
