[I9001] [ROM] [4.3] [Unofficial] OmniRom [Ended] Reason: Similiar project already released.
I will not update this project anymore. Instead I will focus on bringing up KitKat
The focus of this project will be to bring up "Omnirom" on our device. Omnirom is a project which is started by a well known developer called XpLoDWilD. His goal with this project is to let the rom be fully open-source, and to get everybody involved in the development of the rom.
Status of the project:
- Currently getting all the sources pulled from https://github.com/omnirom/android.git [Completed]
- Getting the device specific parts in place for rom compilation [Completed]
- Compiling the sources to a flashable package [Completed]
- Get the Rom booting [Completed]
- Find out which hardware components function out of the box and which don't [Completed]
- Getting the missing hardware components to function one by one W.I.P.
What works:
- Audio
- Display (HW Accelerated)
- Input
- Lights
- Media (HW Accelerated)
- Network interfaces
- Power Management
- Radio (Phone)
- Sensors
- Storage
- Vibrator
- Wifi
What doesn't work:
- Camera (Force Quits)
- GPS (Doesn't come up)
- Bluetooth (Detection on other bluetooth device works, but detection of other devices is not functioning)
Also I created a Q&A thread for all development unrelated questions so I hope everybody will contribute in keeping this topic clean:
The topic can be found here:
[GT-I9001] [Unofficial] [ROM] [Q&A] Omnirom
Note: Currently syncing Kitkat and will try to build a test build with this as well. Stay tuned!

Yes it will be a port for the Galaxy S Plus [i9001]. I will put it in the title as well. The project mentions for I9000 because the main thread you have to give in on the XDA Dev DB is I9000 before I could select the sub-forum I9001.
Greetings PsychoGame

Hi guys!I want to become an android developer and I know about the AOSP project, but I have not found based of android versions.I want worker on ICS ROM for galaxy pocket(GT-S5300)or cyanogenmod 9,but on a "pure"ROM,without any modification, like nexus android version, for worked on it and optimize for any devices.
1)How I can optimized an android version like Nexus devices for a specific device?
2)Where I can download the necessary for a ROM or a ROM to be optimized?
Thanks
Simply start by downloading cori's source and aosp android of your choice, then edit & merge things from source to aosp then compile.
Dear MI 4i users,
We have got a lot of Nougat ROMs for our device recently and most of them are being actively developed.
You may have tried some of them, or may be wanting to try one now. But, with so many available ROMs, you'll be easily confused as to which is the best one yet for your daily use. So, here is little help for you to sort it out.
Note: If you have already tried the ROMs, please vote for your favourite one and help others to decide. You can also share your thoughts on the ROMs you've tried so far in this thread
List of best Nougat based ROMs for MI 4i
[*]AICP 12.1
AICP aka Android Ice Cold Project is highly customisable ROM with lot of features and best community. It also has highly active development with nightly builds, just like CM(used to be )
[*]AOSPExtended
AOSP Extended is an AOSP based rom which provides stock UI/UX with various customisations features along with the Substratum theme engine. The project has been made by cherry-picking various commits from various other projects. Being based on AOSP it provides a smooth and lag-free experience out of the box. We will constantly try to add more features and make it even better in future updates. A ROM by a user, for a user. #StayAOSP #ExtendYourDevice
[*]crDroid 7.1
[*]CyanogenMod 14.1
CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 7.0 (Nougat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community.
[*]PixelROM
PixelROM is a custom firmware aka ROM for various Android devices. It is built from CyanogenMod 14.1 with additional features, performance and battery life improvements.
The idea behind PixelROM is to give users a ROM that is "blazing fast and buttery smooth".
[*]Resurrection Remix
Resurrection Remix the ROM has been based on CM, Slim Omni and original Remix ROM builds, this creates an awesome combination of performance, customization, power and the most new features, brought directly to your device
[*]Slim7
SlimRoms is a custom android operating system. Our main goal is to offer users a slimmed down yet feature rich alternative to other android operating systems.
The entire SlimTeam work together to bring you this tailor-made beauty straight from Android Open Source Project (AOSP) source code.
[*]XOSP 7
Common features:
All ROMs are either LineageOS or AOSP based. So, at minimum, you can definitely see the feature set of LineageOS(or CyanogenMod formely) in all ROMs.
AOSP based ROMS like Slim7, AICP may additionally have their own custom features which are very useful and allow a high-degree of customisation.
Effectively, all the ROMs add their own flavour to the sweeetness of Nougat to make your device a pleasure in hand. :fingers-crossed:
Important : Go through respective ROM thread list of bugs and respective solutions, if any.
•=============================== A VERY USEFUL TIP ===============================• If you're flashing a new Nougat ROM on top of existing Nougat ROM, then there is no need to back-up everything everytime. Just wipe Cache and Dalvik/ART in TWRP and then flash the new ROM.
First boot will take 4~6 minutes irrespective of ROM and it's normal.
This works because all of the ROMs above have same base (7.1.1). I've personally tested this trick and it worked for CM14.1 <-> AICP12.1 <-> PixelROM.
It should work for other ROMs too. I'll let you know when I try or you can try and share the result.
A big advantage of this trick is that all the apps will be preserved and even the customisation you had done will be restored when you revert back to previous ROM. But note that this may break some Gapps because all ROMs don't support same package.
Finally, be warned: this method works only for switching between Nougat ROMs given above. Don't try this if you're on a different ROM.
that trick will works fine now
but when CM theme engine comes up
you can't dirty flash a CM theme engine rom with OMS rom :/

1. Of course. I'll warn when that happens. But, are you suggesting that LineageOS team is working on their own gene engine? Because, that would be great considering the simplicity of CMTE.
2. I have already added it to the list.

Substratum is not working properly on lineage
add aosip and aospext they are better
Aicp vs pixel rom...what do you think its better?
hey what about viper rom . plss develop one for mi4i also
Anyone tried slimrom.?? Is it stable???
AospExtended ?
crDroid is good, AICP 12.1 also works great.
BTW you should add AospExtended to your list.
In my opinion it is cleaner and smoother compared to other Android N roms.
