You can update your Phones android version only if. Your manufacturer provides you the update,
Or you can install any custom Rom.

Search for custom Rom for <your mobile model no> in xda.
There are many like Cyanogen mod Xperia ultimate HD......etc.
But I like the stock one and I don't recommend anyone to flash their phones with custom ROM because for that you have to unlock your bootlader and if you did it u will lose your warranty and if you something wrong while flashing, your phone might get BRICKED.
You can try different launchers from the market and apply different skins. They are nice,I suggest you to have Apex launcher.
<<<<<<-------------HIT THANKS IF I HELPED YOU

Don't root phone if you're trying jellybean (unless you're trying to backup apps with titanium backup)
Unlock bootloader and get cm10 from fxp thread and install
You indeed need an unlocked bootloader. Yet I warn you: cm10 is not completely be stable yet, and unlocking bootloader will void your warranty.
I don't recommend any new Android users to upgrade until there is a complete and stable rom.
And except cm10 theres no jelly bean rom available yet. Neither will there ever come an official JB update by Sony.

Can you send me link of thread where I can see how to Unlock my phone.
When I opened Service Info, it says I CANT unlock Bootloader.
Help needed removing facebook etc.
Hello all, just rooted my tipo and now I´m stuck.
How do I remove facebook, twitter and other such rubbish that I don´t use?
I tried downloading some of the apps from google store but they just remove apps that I could remove before I rooted my phone.
Facebook and other stuff don´t come up in the remove list.
Can anyone help me?

I tend to go for a generic ROM, so if there isn't one for your country then that's what I'd look for.

Now I have stock rom 4.4.2 and no root. Not shure if I dare to do more on my phone... Maybe I should stay with the stock android. But if I know myselfe well I most sertanly will do something with my phone. One thing I think is rare is that when booting it dont show that the knox is tripped... how come? It just start like it came from the factory.
Find a Stock ROM from Sammobile and split, then flash it with Odin. Find a detailed guide.

I see. Still, I heard there are problems concerning the new FW about the tablet being unrooted if you flash KK on it and the samsung logo not appearing in the booting screen. Is there any way for the root to stay? I already know that there are a few bug issues in the software like the fast battery drain and I can handle that but the root though...I don't really want my device being bricked or whatever. I'm still a newbie about this so I wanted to find more information if possible before doing anything first.

I know it's official and everthing but that's not what I'm worried about. My tablet's already rooted with a custom rom and a blackhawk kernel in it. I read from the other posts that you'd be stuck in the booting screen if you flash the KK due to the logo missing and that you'll lose the root and will never be rooted again due to KK leaving a signature on the build or something. I'm not exactly sure what steps to take to prevent it though and I wanted to flash KK so bad. I just want to know if anyone knows how to flash KK in my already rooted tablet without encountering those two issues I just stated above.
Anyone?

You can always get root access again either by pre-rooting the firmware or by a custom recovery image in several different ways.

I don't think I can do the pre-rooting one. My computer doesn't run in Linux and I'm currently out of the country (and probably will be for months) to do anything about it.
Can you please tell me how to do it using custom recovery? You mentioned that there are different ways to do it?

[Q] Android update for custom ROM's.

Hi guys am using Nexus 5. And i have rooted it and flashed liquid smooth ROM. Now my concern is that wil i get lollypop update automatically as soon released by google? or should i haave to flash factory default ROM?
1. Does not belong in General section
2. There are threads regarding OTAs which can be found in the first thread of my signature, which is a sticky
3. There are dedicated Lollipop threads
4. No and yes
Why do people think they will get an ota from Google when they are running custom firmware?

Because they have no idea what they're doing. Why would anyone flash a custom Rom when they don't know what they're doing? That's what gets me.

Are you also concerned about updates when there are new versions of SlimROM? Or Paranoid Android? Cyanogenmod? You shouldn't be because those are ROMs that you're not currently using. In the end, the Google image is just another TOM.
Please follow the rules before opening a new thread.

[Q] Nexus 5 Upgrade from v4.4.4 to v5.02

There are lots of posts but none that answer my question.
Coming from rooted stock v4.4.4 and unlocked bootloader on a Nexus 5:
Is it best to unroot & lock it down, then do the OTA's and then re root and unlock to get stock v5.02?
OR
Do I save myself countless steps and just format and flash a non stock v5.02 rom?
As much as I apreciate all of the hard work of the custom rom dev's, With the Nexus 5 it's the first device I've been quite happy with stock and xposed and not feeding the flashaholic I used to be.
Surely someone has been down this road and could offer sugestions.
Thank you for your time.

First, there is no 5.0.2 stock firmware. If you're 100 stock now with only root just unroot then take the ota. If you've got modified system files then flash the 4.4.4 system.img. There is no need to lock the device.
Oh, and there is no xposed for 5.x
