If you cannot do backup of your phone with cwm recovery backup, then it would be nice you you would flash your device with cwm recovery, which has functional backup. I am not sure, if there is a custom cwm recovery for you device.
Then it would be easier to find out and download stock rom directly from manufacturer. You can alway flash this stock rom directly onto your device.

It is HIGHLY recommended to always make a back-up prior to flashing anything, rather it be a ROM/Kernel/Mod/Theme.
This way, just in case something does go wrong, you always have a stable ROM.

What recovery are you using? Do you have the latest Busybox/SU on your device? When it comes to the Sensation, I recommend 4EXT recovery, you can find this on the market, install it and use it to flash the recovery.
Beyond that, I need more details about your situation.

ROM Manager onl;y works with Clockwork Mod Recovery. You have to use the free 4EXT Recovery updater app or the paid 4EXT Recovery Control app, I have the paid version.

You really need to provide more information. As already asked, how much free space is left on your sd card. Have you checked it for errors (for example via windows)?

you must go back to stock rom and recovery to flash ... so just find RUU for your device and flash it

While the rom may be original, the recovery might not. They are different operating systems sitting on different partitions.
Flashing an RUU would revert also to stock recovery.

I have the same problem but I am not really sure which of these two to download or does it matter. I have 4ext recovery installed.
RUU_PYRAMID_LE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.33.401.106_Radio_11.76A.3504.00U_11.24A.3504.31_M_release_266172_signed.exe

The release number that shows up on the failed installation is 281163. And the assert failed in the patch check is teeter. I un-installed this apk so is this another reason for the failed update?
Thanks

Just make sure you have either HTC Sync or HTC's drivers unshaped, connect the phone and execute. No Odin.

You should find out what CID you have, and than download correct ruu. Or if you are s-off flash supercid 11111111 and then you can install any ruu. You have instructions on how to do it on "sensation ruu guide "thread. Hope it helps

As the title,I want to know if I will brick my device if I flash gingerbread Rom on an ics Rom.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using xda premium
It is just impossible mate. (You will likely stuck at boot screen or will have boot loops...) If you already have ICS rom installed on your device, that means you have ICS firmware. If you would like to install a gingerbread rom you must flash the appropriate gingerbread firmware first. To do that your device must be S-OFF.

Yes. If you do a system wipe ( I usually do a factory reset + system wipe) then you can flash a 4.2.1 Rom.

All recent ICS and JB roms are working on 3.32 and 3.33 firmware. Install 4EXT recovery and use that as many roms require so.
