I have an issue where the keyboard keeps on disappearing on my Xoom running the TeamEOS nightly builds.
It has been there for some time, and still is not resolved.
Whenever I am typing a message and try to type using individual letters rather than swiping, the keyboard keeps on disappearing and taking a few attempts to get is to reappear.
I can't see anyone else with this issue and an accompanying fix, although there are a few suggestions of wipe and reinstall.
I would have posted in the TeamEOS forum, but I haven't enough posts to be allowed.
Thanks,
David.

Known issue. You can disable auto-correct in settings or use a third party keyboard.

Thanks for the info.
Do you have any suggestions for a good alternative?
I do like swipe typing, but would also like one with number keys always visible...
Thanks,
David.

Thanks for the info. I was having the same problem and that seems to have fixed it.
Did you fix it by disabling auto correct or by selecting a different keyboard?
I am using touch pal at the moment but would love to fix the standard one.

I'm having some issues touching the menu on the bottom. It works when I touch an area above where the settings button and stuff really are displayed.
Is anybody having problems after this update?

I think it was Wavelauncher messing up the touching area for the settings. The other apps I uninstalled didn't do anything for the dock.
How can I enable the HTC Trace Keyboard?

Doesn't seem to work - no biggie as I use Swype anyway. Infinitely better!

You do NOT have an extra keyboard called "Trace Keyboard" or whatever by long pressing. After enabling it, just slide as if you were using swype with the regular HTC keyboard.

I know what Trace is.....
After enabling it just doesn't work
Settings - keyboard and languages - touch input - trace keyboard - enable.
Then long press any text entry screen and choose "Input Method" then "Touch Input". Works fine for me.

EDIT : Okay turned out you have to enable the prediction feature for trace to work, without prediction it just ignores your trace inputs.

i had no issues getting mine working and i find it quite handy. i tap away most of the time, but in landscape mode its good for bigger words. i dont tend to use it in portrait mode much.
Hi
Just wondering if Trace can be added/flashed separately if its not included in the Rom?

Is it meant to work with all text input?

I've got it working for messages, facebook and twitter.
I was just wondering if it's meant to work in the market and when you're using the internet

[Q] Setting up swiping keyboard 3.2
I think since 3.2 that the "swyping" keyboard ( onscreen) isn't working as often in "swype" mode. Is there some finer control over that?
Thanks,

Onscreen keyboard tracing control.
I had forgotten I'd posted this for months, then just searched and found it and realized I still don't understand if there's any control we've got over when the onscreen keyboard works in 'tracing' mode, and when it doesn't.
It does seem to me that it works much less in tracing mode than when I got it. I've got the 3.2 SW, rooted, and the stock ROM and Kernel aboard, so it is likely not anything I've changed.
When I look at the keyboard settings I don't see anything that addresses this so any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Hashi

Is anyone out there using Swiftkey tablet. I use it because of the Dvorak keyboard layout, mainly because the Note doesnt seeem to support keyboard layouts other than Qwerty.
When I type in Swiftkey it seems to be registering multiple keystrokes. This doesnt happen in the stock samsung keyboard or SlideIt

Did you try Polaris Office and S Note.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but to no avail. Still does it in these two apps.
I'm using SwiftKey without any issues. I've used both Polaris and S Note. Did you try a restart? Could be some sort of magnetic issue that might be resolved that way. Big bummer. Sorry.
I have swiftkey on all my devices except the Note10.1.
Does Swiftkey support big, small hovering and split keyboard like original keyboard ?

It supports big and split, but no hovering.
does using a keyboard other than the stock one still allow you to use the S-pen instead of the keyboard whenever you want to? I know that the stock keyboard has the setting button that you press to select text recognition for using the pen within the browser.
Think it's a common issue but I can't get SwiftKey T to learn from my Gmail.
Anyone else having this problem?? Or have a suggestion.??

I'm using SwiftKey 3, but I've been experiencing a lot of freezing+force closing when using it with Chrome.
Hovering would be nice. It offers all else that I need.
Hi all,
I work for SwiftKey. Please be sure to post bug reports (one at a time) on our public forum at support.swiftkey.net. We also welcome suggestions there. Regarding Droidcarp's note that there appears to be some difficulty with personalization, our Dev Team has been made aware of this report and they are looking into it for you.
Again, our public forum is the best place for suggestions and bug reports. This allows us to streamline the development process so we can continue to make SwiftKey as excellent as possible for you.
Thanks very much,

As long as you dropped in, HWR would be good, too. Sammy offers a hover keyboard and HWR, also. Started using their split keyboard - very nice - and offers HWR.

Any idea how to get the handwriting key to be included?
It is a shame the standard samsung keyboard doesnt support dvorak
Definitely needs handwriting support and the arrow keys like the phone keyboard.
For now it's fine to leave the stock keyboard set on handwriting and use the keyboard switcher in the notifications to switch but it would be useful for it to be integrated.
Also maybe a way to adjust the width, in split mode it seems too wide and I have big hands!
I switched to swift key also from swype today and noticed an echo like effect in snote, working fine in the xda app but broken in the snote app.

My stock Samsung keyboard can no longer provide haptic feedback after installing the SwiftKey tablet, does anyone have the same problem.? I think doesn't matter how you change the settings, and it just doesn't vibrate
So the current ROM(liquidics for droid2) doesn't support the physical keyboard very well. The lights stay on when its closed and pulling it out doesn't change the orientation. Is there a way I could pull keyboard modules or whatever handles the keyboard from another ROM that works (AOKP or CM9) and patch them over it?

Have you tried installing a third party app yet? E.g. TouchPal X ?

Not third-party, but I did install Google Keyboard. I don't see how that would effect the physical keyboard much as I ran a ROM before where the android keyboard service kept crashing, but the slide-out still worked.

Hardware buttons and softkeys are controlled by keyboard app too as far as i know.
I think you're right about the virtual keyboard handling the physical one, but I think Android itself controls the back lights and orientation. I've tried some third party apps and they don't fix it.
