Message type problem - HTC Sensation

Hi,
i've been using htc sensation for some time now. since last night i've been noticing that when i go to the message app to type a message, i touch the keypad to press the alphabet to type the text but the text does not appear. same happened when i tried using whats app to text. the screan is responsive as all the other apps are clickable, infact the games are working well too. only problem is with typing words.
Please help

Are you on stock rom or you are on custom Rom
Try 3rd party app for keyboard like swipe keyboard search on play store for more apps

Doesn't seem to work - no biggie as I use Swype anyway. Infinitely better!

You do NOT have an extra keyboard called "Trace Keyboard" or whatever by long pressing. After enabling it, just slide as if you were using swype with the regular HTC keyboard.

I know what Trace is.....
After enabling it just doesn't work
Settings - keyboard and languages - touch input - trace keyboard - enable.
Then long press any text entry screen and choose "Input Method" then "Touch Input". Works fine for me.

EDIT : Okay turned out you have to enable the prediction feature for trace to work, without prediction it just ignores your trace inputs.

Sorry for the double post, but it keeps not working.

not sure mate.. try disabling and renabling it?
i had no issues getting mine working and i find it quite handy. i tap away most of the time, but in landscape mode its good for bigger words. i dont tend to use it in portrait mode much.
Hi
Just wondering if Trace can be added/flashed separately if its not included in the Rom?

[Q] Websites pop down menus disappears when i try to type.

Hi there this website is a good example of my problem. If i click on the icon, search this forum icon, a little drop down box appears for me to enter txt. As soon as i click on thr box the keyboard comes up but the box vanishes, no matter how many times i have tried. Help!!! This happens on most websites.
Also I have the exact sane problem I suspect its an android issue.

Stock Messaging App- Pressing enter to send?

Is this possible? I really like the stock texting app, but I am unable to have a text sent without having to click on the touchscreen. Every other app in the world allows you to hit enter to send, but this one gives a new line. In a text. Which is pointless.
Any help would be great.
Go into settings in the stock app there's a option to send with enter click it
Sent From My Rooted Sidekick 4g XDA Premium App
Hmm, I've gone into the settings again, and see no option for it. I am running stock KD1 with the stock messaging app. In the new message (aka universal composer) screen, settings only lets me choose which services to show. In the all messages screen, settings gives me a bunch storage and options, but none are related.
I am familiar with the plain vanilla android messenger app's setting for send on enter, but the sidekick I got doesn't have that.
And you have a different Rom listed on your signature. Could that have a different messaging app than me?
I understould wrong I thought u ment aosp messingin yes the stock sidekick messenging dosent allow it
Sent From My Rooted Sidekick 4g XDA Premium App
Personally I prefer it this way, after having sent piles of half-finished texts from my G1 while trying to backspace or go for a letter. It's nearly impossible to send a text by accident now.
Where did Menu + M go? It should have been included.

(ICS) How to change input method without going too settings?

Hey just curious on how to change my keyboard while in any app that uses the keyboard to input text. I tried to press and hold an empty space on the screen and the input method never pops up like on all other Android versions.

Nevermind I figured it out. When you are typing there is a keyboard notification at the top and you just have to click it to change keyboard

Thanks! I was caught off guard too.
Long pressing the space bar also does the job. I miss gb where all you do is swipe the spare bar to change languages
Any way to do this automatically "per-application"?
When I'm in terminal emulator I want to use hackers keyboard, but I'm fine with standard in other places (like writting sms).
I feel retarded

I would love to be able to do that. I use chrome as my browser and it does not play nice with swype. When deleting text it skips to the middle of words and sometimes when typing a word it will use the suggestion automatically before I'm even done typing the word.

awesome. that worked. thank you for your help.
Im running Clean ROM and have only ICE 4.0 style notifications, even tho the phone is on 4.1. So with Gmail, like mentioned above,I have a single line with no option to do anything like archive/delete, etc.
Is this a known issue?
