[SOLVED] Messed up CM10.1 Install - HTC One S

Hi guys
I froze the com.android.smspush and Fused Location apps using Titanium Backup, and now my phone has entered a bootloop. I can only get onto ADB via recovery. I saw some posts around here explaining how to defrost apps manually by editing the packages.xml file, but they all say to remove the 'enabled="false"' flag from the frozen app. The problem is that I don't have any "enabled" tags for those two apps, and I can't figure how what exactly TB does to freeze them.
Any help would be much appreciated. If anyone running CM10.1 can please send through the lines in their /data/system/packages.xml file relating to FusedLocation, WAPPushManager, and SMSPush that would be great. Or if anyone knows how to manually defrost apps on 4.2.2 (CM10.1) would be even better.
I've tried reflashing the ROM without any luck. It boots up to the lock screen then immediately soft reboots.
Update:
After trying countless methods, I finally solved it by actually deleting the APKs for the two apps I froze, rebooting so they got removed from any package list/freeze list, then reflashing the ROM and rebooting.

[Q] How to safely remove default apps

The reason I ask how to "SAFELY" remove them is that in the past I have used Root Uninstaller and it seems to cause problems with FC of a gapps apk (can't remember the name) when rebooting the phone or accessing the market. Also, the market became iffy.
Although I tried to reset data/cache for each crashing app, I ended up having to reinstall the ROM to get control again.
Anyone?

Installing apps on custom ROM causes reboots

Hi!
Apologies in advance, I don't know much about the workings of android, I just follow guides!
I'm trying out my first custom rom, namely gingerclone, and am having trouble getting all my apps back up and running...
Before installing the rom, I backed up all my apps and settings with titanium backup, so I could restore them much easier after the rom change.
Although when I tried restoring them, I had lots of force closes with titanium backup itself, and about half of my apps would immediately FC on opening and didn't have icons. I then uninstalled the problem apps manually in settings>applications, and tried installing via the market. For some apps, it worked fine, but for others, whenever I try to install from the market, my phone reboots when the download is done and it tries installing. Sometimes it won't even download and just gives me errors, and for some they will install, but will not launch, just force close. I've tried cleaning the dalvik cache with titanium backup, and deleting settings files for the problem apps from my sd card, so that as far as I can see, there is no trace of them. But still, random reboots whenever I try installing, or unopenable if I manage to get them to install.
Any idea what could be going on? Plenty of other apps have installed and are working fine, so I'm stumped.
Had the same exact problem trying to install apps with titanium backup.
what i did was just slow down and install each app one by one and wait for each app to completely install before trying to install the next.
trying to download all of them all and once always made my phone reboot like it does to yours.
well hope this helps!
Wel I ended up uninstalling them all and trying to install again from the market, but I can't even get them to install individually now. It seems like trying to restore the backup has put some rogue files somewhere and is messing it up when I try to install the apps...
I have no idea why, but everything has started working again, so problem solved :/
I don't know. That never happened with me

Multiple problems updating CM10.1.1

Hello, I am new to the forum when it comes to posting but I have done lots of research and can not figure out the solution to my problems. A little about my device: VZW sgs3 SCH-i535, currently on version 4.2.2 running CM version 10.1.2-d2vzw.
I originally ran 10.1.1 and worked fine (except I had no notification sound) and have been having multiple problems ever since I tried updating to different versions. here they are:
1. after update I no longer am able to connect to google play store.
2. Unable to open and view messages and rom manager due to immediate force close.
3. I no longer have superuser app on phone but some apps (like titanium backup, LMT, EZ-Unlock, and AdAway) still request superuser access when phone reboots.
4. Lock-screen displays "no data ? tap to refresh".
I have tried multiple things to try and fix like, clearing cache and dalvik cache, restoring system from a previous backup, restored apps and system data. I was unable to find this problem anywhere else on this forum so I decided start a thread. My next step is to wipe my phone and start over unless I can get some help from you guys/gals. Any help is appreciated.
forgot to mention, when I updated the last time to the 7-24 build my phone got stuck in a bootloop which is why I ended up restoring the phone from a previous backup.
Thanks

[Q] Apps wont retain their data or stay frozen after reboot

These forums have been invaluable to me. You guys amaze me. If you could help with this, I would be forever grateful.
Phone: Verizon Galaxy S3, rooted, CM10.2
Problem: I have suddenly run into a problem where only some of my apps (1) do not retain any of their data after a reboot and (2) do not stay frozen (I've tried freezing with Titanium, Lucky Patcher, Root Uninstaller Pro, etc.) after rebooting (they do keep their data and remain frozen until I power my device off). ONLY the apps I installed on or after about two weeks ago have this problem (i.e. apps installed before that do not have this problem). So basically every time I reboot my phone apps installed over the last two weeks look like I've never used them (for example, a notepad app that I used extensively before rebooting shows no notes).
Solutions Attempted (without success obviously):
1.) Uninstalling problematic apps, rebooting phone and reintalling
2.) Doing a full factory reset via CWM recovery, wiping all caches, and restoring a nandroid backup that was taken before this problem arose.
Question: Is there anything that I can do to resolve this problem or do I need to get a new phone?
Thanks,
Jenna

That's odd... I use titanium backup myself and they stay frozen unless I defrost them. Do you use the free version or the paid version of titanium backup?

Thx for the reply - I use the pro version

That's odd then. I also use the pro version. Maybe instead of freezing them rename the apk files to .bak instead of apk. That might help

Are there any consequences of changing a file from apk to bak?

Not really no, your not deleting the file, it remains in the system or whatever folder it's in

Thanks again for your help! Ok so all I have to do is go into data/app folder and change the problematic apps name from "xyz.apk" to "xyz.bak"?

So I tried the re-naming of the problematic apps from ,apk to .bak (and then rebooted), but the apps didn't appear in my apps list after rebooting and when I went into the google play store it showed that it was not installed -- am I doing something wrong (I used root explorer to do this)? Or is there anything else you could possibly think of to fix this problem? It's driving me crazy!

Because they've been renamed it won't show as installed

I REALLY need an answer to this Stupidity

I am modding a rom zip file. Precisely, I am simply removing apps that are not needed. I have successfully removed the apps listed in this list:
http://dr.mywebcommunity.org/g920w8/debloat/debloat_safe.txt
NOW, I simply tried to remove 1 single HUGE app. Just one!
app/Chrome
I get a freakin' bootloop everytime. I tried MANY different apps and I decided to build a file with only chrome removed. and I get a bootloop. Can anyuone tell me WHY the rom bootloops when I remove this but does not boot loop when I remove all the apps in my txt list above? It's driving me crazy. You do not imagine how many bootloops I've had removing drive, Gmail, Hangouts, Music. No matter what I remove, gosh, the phone just bootloops. I can only remove the files I mention in the first txt list.
I really want to know why I can't get those apps out. If I want them out, I need to initially boot the rom, once it booted, reboot in TWRP and remove all those apps. It's just plain stupid. Why can't I just remove them at first installation. It's the same thing. Why is Chrome or any other apps not listed in my txt file necessary to boot?
