Aospa install fail - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am having trouble flashing the latest AOSPA ROM . I am on twrp 4.2.3.0. I have download the rom 4 times and it always fails immediately. I have tried factory resets format system dalvic and cache. No difference. I really want to try it out. I posted in that forum but no replies have been fourth coming. A little help here?
Turns out you have to use CWM to flash. Unfortunate as TWRP is a superior recovery... Hopefully this will be addressed in future updates.

Some roms not booting all the way up.

Okay so i ran synergy rom for a bit, loved it and worked good.
I tried flashing CS SG3 ROM
I couldn't get it to boot all the way up, i tried everything odin back to stock and retried, wiping system , everything.
still couldn't get it to boot all the way up so i gave up and ended up going to GALAXY MOD It worked perfectly and i loved it.
But today I tried flashing release 15, it also will not boot up. But when going and flashing release 14.1 again it works perfectly.. does anyone know what my issue is or how to fix it? I'm so confused... do they have something similar that could possibly be the issue?
Galaxy mof has problems booting on its newest release if you want to flash rls15 be sure to use cwm touch recovery and pick developer's choice not custom
If you do choose custom be sure to put force gpu rendering.

Oh okay. I will be trying this. thank you.
The only thing I can think of is not wipeing?
You can always try a dirtyy flash between ROMs. But if it doesn't fully boot.
Try wiping cache and dalvik cache.
You can also fix permission just to be safe.
Also. Maybe make sure you are on latest CWM? or TWRP.

[Q] AOKP Nightlies Update Problem

I have couple of question and need some help. With the new AOKP nightlies being release every 3 days or so, I would like to stay updated on them. So when I download them and proceed to update and flash over the old nightly. (Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik Cache) Upon reboot everything is gone icluding Gapps and seems that it instead of just updating the rom and keeping everything, It updates everything and wipes clean as if it was a fresh flash instead of a update flash ("Dirty flash"). Does anybody know why this happens? Is it that with the AOKP nightlies, you just have to always do a clean install and flash?

I can see why the keyboard won't work. That might be due to having to re install Gapps. But I don't understand why every time I update to the new nightlies, all my stuff is gone and it's like a full wipe fresh install/flash. Does anybody know how to avoid this from happening? Or is it that AOKP nightlies won't allow these types of updates.
I don't think there is a way around this. I've been using aokp for awhile and i just keep all my apps backed up so i can restore them after install.
Okay. Thank you for the help.

[Q] About GAPPS

Hey there everyone,
I decided to make a new topic since my other thread had a way other issue. I want to have a custom rom of AOKP on my HTC one x. I've downloaded the file, installed CWM etc. Now my question is what Gapps do I need? Is it rom specific? I know that AOKP runs on android 4.2.2.
Do I need CyanogenMod 10.1.x 4.2.2 Gapps?

Most roms will have a link to the proper Gapps package within OP but yes, if it's a 4.2.2 rom, the cm 4.2.2 gapps should work fine.

Ah yes, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2052610 This first linked me to an enormous site with alot of Gapps which confused me. But once I scrolled down to check I could still find the Gapps that were reccomended for that build.
Excuse me for my impatience Carry on!

Reboot into recovery, do a factory reset, wipe /system/, and (optional) wipe the sdcard. Just remember that if you wipe the sdcard you will be wiping the zip files you were going to flash. So, you might want to do that part AFTER installing the Rom and gapps.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
A Full wipe consists of wiping: Cache, dalvik cache, system and factory reset in recovery.
TWRP 2.4+ seems to have issues wiping so if you get error messages or bootloops after doing a full wipe and flashing a new ROM, this could be why. TWRP version of choice is 2.3.3.1
Installing the wrong GAPPS will typically create Force closes when you boot up or try to launch and apps within GAPPS. I've never seen flashing the wrong gapps cause bootloops.
Shiizzzzzz, I flash every gapp package under the sun for every aosp Rom there is for the XL lol... My favorites are midnight gapps... Worked perfect on all roms.

I keep seeing advice like this on the boards, but doesn't the factory reset wipe both /data and /cache? I honestly want to know so I don't give people bad advice.
Regardless, good call on the twrp version.

Yes but redundancy never hurt anyone. Also, when you take into account the issues with both cwm and twrp across multiple devices, it's best to be overly cautious than not cautious enough. Sometimes I wipe it all twice just to ease my mind. If you read on Tweamwin's site, they also say that most ROM installs wipe the system partition so you should never have to wipe it, but I think we all know that's BS.
TWRP, CWM, ROMS, MODS, these are all developed by random people I don't know, who also have no part in the original manufacture/design of my device. Better to be safe than sorry, I always say.
Fair enough. I guess when you are dealing with stuff that could seriously mess up an expensive device a little caution can't hurt.

I agree 100%
I always do double wipes of everything before flashing something. And I wipe cache/dalvik after the flash too. I expect that's the reason I never have issues after booting my phone up.

Brother can only flash stable cm 10.1.3

My brother just got himself a skyrocket he's on the newest radio w/custom recovery installed but can't seem to flash anything but cm 10.1 with an old 4.2 GApps package.
Kinda frustrating because I haven't seen anyone else having this issue in any other thread. I did to his all I did to mine and I'm running Wantowan2's DU. Just says installation failed and we can't even flash other recovery from within recovery. Where should we go from here

Well we did Odin back to stock and Odin flashed twrp 2.6.3 and tried to flash the new cwm touch 6043 and it just failed. Not sure why. I repeated process with my phone and it worked but I feel like he did some stuff he's not telling me.
And the only things that do flash remain to be the cm 10.1.3 and GApps from 2012

The gapps isn't right for 4.3, cm 10.1. Flash the 8-13-2013 gapps
Edit, you can find it on the OP of this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46685423
My understanding is that cm 10.1.3 is android version 4.2.2 and the gapps he used worked. No force closes or anything but one thing he mentioned is that his first flashing of the ROM did not include a full wipe. He did not format system. And even after a full wipe in twrp 2.6.1; data, cache, android secure, dalvik, and system still nothing. Still shows dead android and failed install

gapps not working after last flash

Hi guys.
Is there a way on how to update the ROM without crashing the Google Play Services? Everytime I wipe dalvik cache and cache. And flash the update ROM including the GAPPS, Google Play Services isn't working anymore that causes all Google Play apps to not function properly. Using Stable G-Apps build 8.x-282 and SlimKat build 8.0. Thanks in advanced.

I'm having the same problem, dirty flashed the latest update, then flashed latest mini gaps, now can't log in to Google servers with any of my ACCTS on this device. Tried reflashing, wiping dalvik and cache, deleting Google accts and restarting, continue to get same error of unable to contact Google server. Any ideas?
CP's
A simple but hard to accept fix is to fully wipe data, cache, system and reflash the ROM and gapps. It should work fine for me.
Wipe system, flash rom, flash gapps, wipe cache, wipe dalvic, reboot.

First time rooting and flashing on a tablet(done it on my SG3 w/o problems). Ran into the sector 7 error while flashing and now stuck on CWM(6.0.1.1) loop. Dont have a backup to restore from(doh). Did I soft brick my P3113? Tried connecting to Odin again and it says Added while galaxy tab logo is on but then disappears when it goes to CWM after the tab logo. Any suggestions will be appreciated

You need at least CWM 6.0.4.4 - reading the FAQ would have had helped.
Use latest CWM 6.0.5.x for P3110, link in my signature.
Boot into Download mode and flash the new CWM using Odin.

F2FS
Just got the stock device for a few days. Would like to try SlimROM.
Is there a F2FS version of any ROM for the P3113?
No F2FS by default. You can try a custom kernel supporting f2fs, but imo f2fs is a needless feature.
