Hi,
I have used UPnPlay to stream my movies to my transformer in either avi or mkv format with no problem. But I have just tried to play a few mkv movies while the transformer is attached to my tv via HDMI and I get really bad stuttering and it even completely crashed my transformer.
So whats the problem, as it seems avi's play with no problems on the tv??
Thanks.

mkv is not supported by honeycomb. maybe when vlc player is released it will be able to play them smoothly. i'd recommend getting the avi versions of your content.
Thats the thing though Rockplayer will happily play the mkv files on the tablet with no stuttering at all. Its only when I connect it up to the tv via HDMI that the stuttering, flashing screen or complete crash happens??

hm. does the xoom have this problem as well? perhaps theres a fix for it on the rockplayer site or maybe they have a forum. maybe rockplayer just needs a update for the transformer. you should submit a bug to them.
if you find something please let us know.
Yeah I have sent an email to the makers of both UPnPlay and Rockplayer as I am not sure which app has the problem. Hope there is a fix as I really don't want to reencode all my movies etc
EDIT: Seems its not the mkv file type doing it as I just encoded the same movie from the Video_TS folder as avi and again it stutters when played via the hdmi but is fine when the hdmi isn't connected. Really weird as other avi files play fine so I think it maybe how the avi has been encoded maybe.
Today i got my hdmi cable and i tried to play videos with dice player but it couldn't play anything. I tried moboplayer and it worked flawlessly. I just want to be able to play 720p mkv videos with dice player.....any solutions?

I just tried it now and I am also having a problem.
Hi everyone,
I bought an eee pad transformer a couple days ago and I also have a video problem.
I tried to download and read HD video (like big buck bunny [www dot bigbuckbunny dot org/index dot php/download/]) and I can't play the video in HD (1080 or 720). I tried with all formats and different players. Have you the same problem ? Did someone contact Asus for that ? It looks like that's a bug with the 3.2 version.

I responded to this thread becase it cam up first in my search. There are already a number of threads on this so this thread should probbly not have been started.
Dear marcmarshall.
Sorry for writing in this thread. Indeed, I'm not using the HDMI out but I think the problem is the same and that's why I posted my comment (question ?) in this thread. By the way, I haven't see other threads about it so if I missed it, sorry.

Hi lock042
The HDMI our really is a different issue. It sounds like you may be having a problem streaming flash video. Is this your issue? There are some problems with flash in the TF. Try a search for it and see if applies to you.
Thanks for the answer, but no that's not a flash issue because I use video I downloaded (you can try on the website I gave you, HD videos are free). In addition, I've read some reviews of different websites (in french) trying to play these videos : there was no problems BUT they was not running on Android 3.2 but 3.0 or 3.1.
A friend of me has the same problem and I think that the eee pad transformer on Android 3.2 cannot play correctly HD video (tell me if you try the videos I gave you, but not the streaming version (even if there's also an issue with HD streaming).

What format is your video in? Try another player. I hear dice is very good with multiple formats but try another anyway. MX Player is good and is free.
OK. Tonight after work I will try another player but I already tried with 2 differents.
In addition I tried all formats available on the website MP4, H.264, OGG ....
Thanks again and I'll let you know

Ok it's me again. I tried with the players you told me. And with another video HD.(the trailer of this website : www dot sintel dot org/download/) I cannot read HD video.
I really think there is a big bug with HC 3.2
I just want to make my thread clear, i have no problem playing 720p mkv or avi videos on diceplayer. The problem comes when i connect the hdmi out and I try to play any kind of videos, it shows a black screen. But when i use moboplayer, the videos play fine but not the 720p videos because it just start to lag. Only diceplayer is able to play 720p videos on my tf without a problem in my experience....
Thanks for the responses

I tried HDMI out with a mini adapter yesterday. It does not work on my TV or through my receiver. There are several threads regarding this. Apparently there is a kernel problem with compatibility with some devices. Combined with all the flash video problems and the dock battery drain issue and the poor voice recognition I'm a bit disappointed with the TF.
Hi all.
I´ve got some mp4 video files on my transformer and want to stream them over dlna to my tv.
Problem is, that i only can play one file after another an not continuous.
Someone knows how i can get continuous vieo playback working?
Tried dlna with:
skifta
bupple
mynet
with players:
mobo
mx
stock
they all play one one video and stop after it and thats bad because the clips are ~ 12sec long. holiday videos.
best regards

Hi 2 all,
I have strange problem. I'm using my Samsung UE46D5520 LED TV which is connected to my home lan I am streaming photos & music via Connected Media on my HTC Sensation.
It all works great untill I try to stream video.
HD & fHD videos won't stream due to unsupported video codec, but some qHD videos are streamed normally incl. audio stream, and some are not?! All of them are .3gp files, so I don't know what's the catch ... Any ideas? Thnx.
Anyone? It is driving me crazy completely
via XDA App on HTC Sensation
EDIT: Well, problem solved. Actually, not solved, but I've found out what's causing it. It's Samsung problem with .3gp.
If you record videos in pretty dark ambient, then there is a great possibility that that video wont be streamed via DLNA. But with lower res in darker ambient, it will work.
Exact difference can't be found, so I just hope that Samsung will release new update for streaming .3gp so it would stream all .3gp videos, not even matter in what ambient they are recorded
[SOLVED]
This is SOLVED, hot to put [SOLVED] instead of [Q] in topic subject?
Hello folks, I used to have a motorola Defy MB525 with custom ROM and DLNA app and could easily play videos and photos from the mobile on my Sony Bravia TV, all different formats like .MP4, .AVI or .WMV.
It happens that my defy crashed and I bough a Samsung Galaxy S2. Very nice piece of equipment, but I'm having a hard time to make DLNA work now.
I tried several diferent apps, but none could stream videos or play photos on my TV. I always get a MIME not supported or a AVTransport error, depending on the APP. I also tried to browse my mobile files using the TV console, I can find the files using Twonky for example, but when I hit play it's just blackness... or darkness... whatever...
I'm thinking that the TV cannot play .AVI, .MP4 or .WMV files when I try to play them from the TV console, but it's strange this is not working when I try to stream them from the mobile. Any ideas ? Thanks a lot in advance.
