About blog
Thanks for the reply. Can a blod be downloaded and distributed on computers and tablets?

Not the embedded part of the blog, like if you're embedding YouTube videos and stuff in it.
You can save the website for offline viewing though, text, pictures.
I guess my point was that I'd you had internet for YouTube, having the other stuff online wouldn't be a problem either

Is there any way to watch You tube video?

I was trying to open with Opera, IE, WMP. Don't really know which application I need to watch it...I believe there is a simple answer for the question. But, I just don't know it...
So, no1 knows?
Watched this topic?

Have you read this?
it seems that all the solutions there are for downloading, converting and then watching. But I need it to work on-fly, without downloading, the way we watch it on our PCs.
Now Windows Mobile Phones Can, so why can't we?
I know I'm getting sick of seeing those stupid Verizon adds for the EnV that shows the huge YouTube logo on the screen, and wondering why my WM phone can't. I know my phone can do hundreds, if not thousands of things, that the EnV can't, but as long as there is ONE thing that a non WM phone can do that mine can't, I feel like less of a man. Where do I sign up mfrazz's 12 step program?
and is there any way to watch p2p tv on ppc like on pc?
I just intalled the newest version on Opera 8.65... its in beta right now... BUT IT PLAYS YOUTUBE videos!!!! WooHoo!!!
It has flash support built in and works nice!!!http://ppcwarez.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19732
try..
Go this site with your device browser. You can even download the videos. And you can search grouper, youtube etc.

why it keeps asking for java or flashplayer (under wm6)?
does anyone know how to format the window so that I can watch the whole video (on youtube) using Opera?
Orb Lets You Play YouTube on Your PPC
I use a program called Orb to play YouTube on my PPC. It loads on your home PC, then you use any PPC browser to access it. It's pretty dang sweet. I have had hardly any problems with it.
orb.com
Well, there are a lot of ways to watch you tube video offline on your PPC. For example, you can just download a youtube video using youtube grabber on your PC then convert it to avi using some endcoder, and then watch it with TCMP or Core PLayer.
However, the main point of the thread is to get a way of watching youtube video on-fly being online with you PPC.
So, far the best way of doing that is using new Opera. However, it's not a perfect way
orb is the way to go. orb does it on the fly also. check it out.

It really is. The only problem I found about it is that the PC must always run the application and be online to be able to watch video from PPC, which is sometimes a problem for me. The rest is awsome.
the other nice thing is you can also view your webcam anytime also. I use it for sucurity purposes . very nice feature.

I think downloads are the only way to watch you tube videos. Try this site: mymobileclips.com, free registration, specify the format you want your videos, and you can get Google, Myspace, Ifilm, Dailymotion, Break, Metacafe, too.
I personally believe ORB is by fair the best thing to cross streaming\PPC lines...I have absolutely no problem watching youtube on my PPC using orb, and talk about an iPhone?? Who needs that when you have an 250 gig hdd with movies, music, pictures, and then are able to watch your local cable service thats at home while your out and about on a lunch break, and then to be able to access your PC and browse and download files from anywhere............ORB IS GOD when it comes to media and mobile devices....not to mention to gain access on my xbox 360 using orb as well without switching my external from device to device, and not using the lame media center....orbs great....just thought id mention it.

I've been trying orb and im a bit new to it. But from my understanding, orb will only work if you pre-selected the videos on your PC first right?
Is there any way to watch ANY youtube video? For example if you searched for one and want to watch it, you cant use the standard browser to see it. How does orb come into play for watching videos on demand? Will it only allow us to see videos that we have pre-added on our pc with the orb plugin?

Orb defines videos, pics, audio, files, etc defined in a specifc folder....when you setup orb it then scans the folders to save the content locations onto the orb server, so what ever you put in a specified folder, orb will pull it in for you.
With youtube, just download the plugin on orbs website for IE, install.....then login into orb on your ppc.....go to videos....then it comes up with an search for youtube....google...yahoo...etc, type in what you want to search, it then show it infront of you, click what you want to watch, then click play stream.
No pre-added video for youtube, just an search as if you were at your desktop.

[Q] Best PDF and ebook readers for the Tab?

I interested in getting a Tab and my primary use for it will be reading documents and books. What are the best apps for the following formats:
PDF
epub
cbr/cbz
chm
djvu
I have tried quite a few of the free ones and so far they all suck for one reason or another.
If there is a good pay one, I would not be averse to giving it the ol' 24 hour test.
Tab comes with think free office app. Best pdf reader on android. For comics/cbr/zip use acv (android comic viewer). For books, kindle, nook, aldiko, there are loads
For ebooks, I really like fbreader. kindle and nook have really big fonts that I can't seem to shrink enough. fbreader doesn't have a store, but it can access calibre if you have it set up for opds.
Thanks for the suggestions, I'm looking into them. One format I forgot to mention is HTML. Is it better to convert that to a different format or search for a reader (or browser) for it?
I use ezpdf for my ebook reading. My current favourate with auto crop feature.
Ita difficult finding a good pdf reader. anyone tried good reader on the ipad? its a great pdf manager. Im going to email them to see if they are working on an android version. Adobe reader is good but slow. Others just feel cheap.

I work for a large newspaper company in the UK so I have access to hundreds of papers in PDF format, each day I grab my local one which is usually over 40 pages and around 120Mb in size.
The ONLY app which doesn't crash at the size of the PDF is the free office app that came with the Tab, pinch zoom or double tapping is quick & smooth and moving from one page to the next is seamless
the Adobe app never even opens the first page!
I use the built-in ebook reader, and could bend it to my will, also it supports epub
With a well setup calibre adding new books is easy as 1-2-3

Have you tried ezPDF ? It works brilliantly on my Tab, it is great for reading technical documents in column mode (with double-tap gestures, pinch/stretch zoom, and horizontal scroll lock). The text-flow view is pretty handy too. It is fast, regularly updated...well worth the purchase
for ebook reading, i use aldiko. its on the market.
I use think free apps and Adobe pdf reader. Adobe pdf reader for android is free from the market.
Sent from GalaxyTab using XDA apps.
For PDFs, ezPDF has by far the best features.
It remembers the page, it remembers the zoom, and it even can auto-zoom into columns and jump to the next column. It also can lock the horizontal position.
Unfortunately it does not have the best rendering quality, text does not look as sharp as with adobe's reader.
Adobe's is fine with the best rendering quality but still lacks features. Not even remembering the page-number is fully implemented.
thinkoffice is just a basic fast pdf-viewer that can not even keep the zoom-level.
Bloody sick of Thinkfree Office - it doesn't remember the zoom level across the document! I need to double tap repeatedly for each page to make the document zoom to page width. Going to try EZ PDF and sees how it turns out.
Ezpdf is the best android PDF reader period..

[Q] Alternative Gallery Apps?

I am curious if any of you use your TF for doing presentations for clients at wherever you work.
I have a couple of apple guys in the office and with their Ipads they have downloaded a program called "Portfolio" which I have not found in our Android market.
The basic functionality is that it lets them break up galleries into folders, so they create a folder for each product. Then for the client they can just click on the folder for the product they want to see and can show them photos/pdfs/etc.
Is there any way we can do that with either the standard gallery or another gallery?
U don't need special app to makes different folders for your different clients. The stock gallery already supports this.
Go to your SD card via any file manager, create a folder "client". Then create more folders within "client", name each of these folders with your clients name. Then drop the related files in their respective folders.
The stock gallery should pic this up and display your client's name in folders.
Apart from that, u can try Quickpic as an alternative gallery, its more flexible compared to stock gallery.

+1 for QuickPic.
Also recommending QuickPic.
If we could only have Quickpic with the smoothness of JustPictures ^^
Thanks for the tips!
Quick question, if we have some marketing videos that I would also want to use that are either in Quicktime or WMV will they work on the transformer or do I need to convert them to something else? If so, what is the best for conversion (both time, ease, and quality)?

Yes for WMV as long as the resolution isn't too high (1080p isn't smooth with this format, I've tried. 720p or lower is fine for me), but you'll need to convert Quicktime into a more useable format such as MP4. You can use Handbrake to convert it, it's free so nothing to lose in trying it out.

Format for e-books?

Does anyone know what file format(s) the kindle app and google books app uses?
Sent using my rooted LG Revolution
The kindle uses mobi files, not sure about google.
Most likely would use something like epub or pdf for Google I can't see Google locking down the ability to import book files.
But if it comes down to it Aldiko Book Reader has been a pretty good reader for me and offers option to import epub and pdf files and has access to free bookstores where you can get classic books like Alice in Wonderland and the likes.
Do a search on the market for "Aldiko Book Reader" as I can't post a link to it
Most pdf files i think
So I dropped some PDF and epub files on my internal storage but I can't get them to show up in google books. I am assuming I need to put them in a specific folder but I can't seem to find that folder. Anyone know what/where it is? Or what exactly I need to do to get them to show up in G-Books ?

[APP] Airvidplay

EDIT: can't post links, search for "Airvidplay" in market.
Extract media videos embedded in web pages and display them on any player you want! With Airvidplay you can extract video clips embedded in websites (Even if your browser does not support FLASH!) having the freedom for playing it anytime, on the device you want without the need of using a web browser. Once Airvidplay has processed a web page with an embedded video and you extract the video link you can:
-Watch the video in the native Android player or your favorite Android player (*).
-Download the video directly to your mobile device for later viewing without relying on an internet connection (**).
-Send a direct link to the video from your Android device to the TV in your living room or any 'renderer' DLNA in order to play it automatically with the highest quality possible (***).
-Share a direct link to the extracted video by email with a friend or yourself for playing it on any PC application.
Airvidplay is very simple to use: explore the web (or the specific video site app) from where you want to extract the video, share the link address with the "Share" function and then select "Airvidplay" in the list of available applications. If you run Airvidplay manually, the application tries to find a valid video link copied to the clipboard. Before playing, if desired, you can select the preferred video quality within the available (Low, Standard, High or HD). Sit back and enjoy the video!
Currently Airvidplay 1.0 supports the following video sites:
-Youtube.com
-Dailymotion.com
-Vimeo.com
-Marca.com
-Rtve.es
- ... And more supported sites in future releases!
Limitations:
-Airvidplay is unable to extract embedded videos on websites not belonging to the original video own domain. You must visit the original web video for proper operation.
This is a free version and it includes advertising banners. Airvidplay has been programmed in MIT App Inventor environment with minor modifications of Dalvik opcodes in the final stage.
NOTES:
(*) The native Android media player does not support playback of most low quality videos (FLV). To be played on an Android device a FLV player as "Mx Player" is required.
(**) Most web browsers automatically try to play videos instead of downloading them. "Opera Mobile" has been tested as capable of downloading videos.
(***) To send videos from Airvidplay to your TV or DLNA 'renderer' you need a DLNA control point as "BubbleUPnP" installed on your Android device.
Looks promising

Nice App! Keep going!
Sources for plugins
Well, I've played with this app a bit and it looks very promising - good job! The only problem is - one needs to wait for the developer to add support for their favorite site and/or wait for site support to be fixed when the site changes the layout/structure. It's a cat and mouse game, but it has a chance of working if there are multiple persons working on support for various content.
I've worked for a few years on a similar project that used a site scraper to get the video links and push them to a media player (the WDTV Live). The project is called UMSP and is part of the WDLXTV firmware for that media player. There are a ton of (>50) plugins written for UMSP that handle some sort of scraping (mostly by using regular expressions or acting as a proxy) in order to get the URL for the video file and pass it to the player process.
I guess the logic behind some of those plugins can be added to Airvidplay and extend its functionality in the future. The plugins are written in PHP so they can't be directly used, though...
Supported plugins (note, not all of them still work - check out the details thread for each one if you want to port the scraping code over): http://umsp.wdlxtv.com/manifest.xml
You can get the plugin code via svn (svn co --username guest --password guest https://svn.wdlxtv.com/svn/umsp umsp-plugins) or have a look through the web portal: http://svn.wdlxtv.com/listing.php?repname=UMSP
The info.php file in each plugin will contain a description of the plugin + a link to its support forum thread.
A guide to understanding how such plugins work (and how to develop one): http://wiki.wdlxtv.com/UMSP_plugin_development
UMSP plugin forum: http://forum.wdlxtv.com/viewforum.php?f=53
Now, I understand that this will involve a lot of work on the developer's part, but at least he can read some code to understand how to extract a video URL (and in some cases how to decrypt it!) to make a specific site work. Because of the amount of work involved I guess the future of this project will be brighter if the program would have a "plugin mode" - some mechanism for users to add their own parsers/scrapers so that one can add support for any site they desire (as long as they know some regular expressions). I'm not sure what the best way to build this plugin architecture would be - could be something simple as reading the regular expressions from text files in a specific directory at start time and associating a base URL to a regular expression, or could be something more complex.
Since site structure often changes, the plugins would be more efficient and easier to be maintained (while still being downloaded with the app).
If you are interested in expanding this application and if you need my help with porting some code from these plugins, let me know and I'll try to help.
Other projects of interest might be the cclive/quvi project (http://quvi.sourceforge.net/) and the XBMC scrapers.
In what folder do the videos get saved to?
is there a chance of supporting twitch.tv VODS and livestreams? i would love it for both
I haven't seen any developments in almost 1 year. No open sources either. I would say it's a lost cause
It's not working any more. Also, it disappeared from the market.
