@Motorola @MotorolaSupport @Sprint @SprintCare what is the ETA for Photon Q 4G LTE's JellyBean update????? #WeAreWaiting
ā€¸Received this from @SprintCare:
"Thanks for reaching out! Looks like the update just started to roll out in waves a couple days ago. Hang in there! *BJM"
Sooooo.. has anyone received their OTA upgrade yet?
Nope, I haven't even heard about a leak or nuffin... I'm betting they mixed it up with another moto device, as there's been a bunch of moto devices getting JB lately.
Would be nice tho!!
A couple of days ago the latest firmware was ASA14. The Sprint rep probably meant that they are soak testing it and yes, not only Photon Q is the last of the MSM8960 to receive JB but even Droid RAZR XT912 released more than year ago got the JB already ._.
OTA jellybean out for dogfooders 3-8-13
got my jelly bean on yesterday. It was released to Google dogfooders.
Shouldn't be long before a general release.
What is your build number under settings >> about phone? Something like 9.8.2Q....? Can you upload your /system/build.prop from the JB build?
I think we will miss ums, sleep mode and hdmi mirroring after getting JB. That's what I miss on my AHD after getting JB.
9.8.2Q-102_XT897_LE-2 Seems to exist. only as a user-agent though.
www.google.com/search?q=9.8.2Q-102_XT897_LE-2
Would love to see somebody that has actually seen it on a phone, Ill probably end up waiting for the FXZ ZIP though. :/
Is it safe to say once this jellybean (4.1.0 I'm guessing) update comes.. is it safe to assume that will be the last major update we will see for PQ 4g lte?

Hopefully not. Considering our phone's specs,we deserve even KLP. Moto abandoned old Photon and let's just hope our phone won't have the same treatment.

Droid Razr has received two updates from GB to ICS and now JB. Even old Droid Bionic has been scheduled to receive JB this year.
Sent from my XT897 using Tapatalk 2
Idk, but judging by how they've treated it thus far.. I wouldn't be surprised if they said, "you got your jellybean now leave us alone".
I see the other Motorola have gotten 4.1.2, atleast its fresher than 4.1
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
So to keep root for JB update (when/if it comes out...) would you do Voodoo rootkeeper temp unroot, OTA update, then re-root, or will that not work due to it being a major update? Just preparing myself...
This is what I got.

FYI,Electrify 2 has just received JB official. Droid 4 users have received soak invitation. We don't even have any signs for JB on this Photon Q.
I have just updated my profile at Motorola Feedback Network. Hopefully,I'll be notified if there's a soak on Photon Q soon.

Nope, nothing definite yet. You'll know it is getting close when you see a leaked ROM come up as a story on the tech sites, as you see with most other phones who get their updated ROMs leaked.

I hear ya on that! A leaked ROM would tell me that it is in the pipeline and would be released in a couple, or a few months afterwards. After seeing all the other HTC phones get leaks of gingerbread, (Evo, Evo Shift, Desire, Desire HD, and Thunderbolt), getting official announcements, or actually receiving the updates, I'm wondering where our leak is. I'm not complaining, just would like to see a leak soon to know it is coming. I just would like us to get word of a leaked ROM, preferably before they officially announce the rumored Holiday. Especially since the Holiday is gonna be my next phone after I hit my upgrade.

There was a leaked ROM for the unbranded DHD a weeks or so ago. Surprised I haven't seen any ROMs based on it yet. I've been running it for a week or so and it seems super stable.

I mean seriously, how does it feel to be a MotoBlur developer? How can you be consciously developing crap ?

According to DroidLife it looks like Motorola is keeping their hands mostly off ICS. Yes, it'll have Blur, but it looks like it'll be slightly less Blur than we're use to seeing.
Of course this is for the Razr, but the Blur versions on the Atrix 2 and the Razr are pretty similar, so this could be a good sign.
I don't find the Blur on the Atrix 2 to be all that bad, and my phone seems to perform just fine with it.
I think people need to stop *****ing about blur. If you don't like it, you shouldn't of bought a Motorola phone. That is my opinion.

Their Gingerbread release for the Atrix and Atrix 2 wasn't really all that bad at all. Not a whole lot of blur going on. Relax man. That whole thing seems to be in the process of being phased out. What we have now seems more true to plain old Android than say Samsung's Touchwiz, or all that weird **** that LG piles on top of their phones.

Actually, with AT&T already giving the Vivid the ICS update, I'd say that this could be pretty realistic.
At least we know if it doesn't come soon, it's not AT&T, it's Samsung.
ICS has not been released for the Vivid. That is someone talking out of turn (a dedicated tester or volunteer tester). That realease would be all over Android Central and our website.

It gives you a notification saying you have an update available, if you want to install it or not, is your choice.
Sometimes you'll even get a text informing you that your phone has an update available.
Another question for the updates, is it only for carrier sold phones? I bought mine at the US but I'm at Israel and I still haven't received the 2.3.6 update.
Very good news, will open development of some nice ROM's. Maybe it will keep me from flashing once or twice a week.
I doubt it. We'll see though, hopefully they surprise.

To throw my two cents in, the fact that SGSII international is getting it soon and supposedly Vivid is getting it now is a good sign for us.
However, I really don't like TouchWiz's overlay of ICS. To me one of the main features of ICS was a revamped and slick look. TouchWiz 4 just kills that. So what do I, personally (and anyone who feels the same) have to look foward to with ICS?
This is coming from an Android noob btw, so if there was extra features besides the FaceUnlock *useless imo* and sleek UI please enlighten me.

The real benefit will be the Kernel getting into the hands of the Devs. In time, they will do many thing with it including a non-Touchwiz version ROM.

From what I understand ICS is completely redone. There are alot of new code and things done different from previous versions of Android. I can understand why nothing has really been released yet. I know there is a couple versions of ICS over in the development section but there are very few things that work.
Decided to check for update this AM, to my surprise there was an update available. I received one about a month back bring me up to 4.0.4. Today's update did nothing but update the baseband ver and kernel. Hopefully it helps my signal, when I am at home (hugo, MN) and in my basement i get **** reception even though the map shows 4G.

I work for a law firm now though and they keep outlook syncing pretty locked down. On a side note I told my buddy on Tmob with a SSGIII to check for the update assuming it was Jelly Bean, he did and is now saying he's updated to 4.1 wtf.

His girlfriend just had a newborn, so I'm thinking he may be busy for a while, I'm trying to reason with him into letting him give some of the new developers a starting point with his code for the kernel for ICS, and possibly a starting point for the Camera to work, but until HTC puts out another source, we're stuck without a Camera for a bit.
Any news on this? Not that asking for an eta, just curious of progress.
