Hey guys,
Is there any way to re-map the surface pro pen's button to be middle click instead of right click?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Check either the "Mouse" control panel or the "Pen and Touch" control panel. One or both should allow you to re-map the "right" key (or the stylus button) to send a "mouse - middle" signal.

Hi,
I'd like to buy an Atom, but I cannot find any real feedback on how usable the device is with one hand, lacking hardware button to map on the WM5 softkeys.
Can someone report if it is possible (and easy) to press the on-screen softkeys with one's thumb?
I'd like also answers from Wizard/Prophet owners, that can compare the usability of hardware vs on-screen buttons (but please do not participate in the poll).
arg0: you can press the softkeys on the screen, and if you have dedicated hardware keys you can of course press those. If you can't manually assign the softkeys to other non-dedicated hardware keys, tell me about it and I'll knock some thing up to sort it.

hi!
What I'd like to know is: can you easily press the softkeys on the screen, using only one hand? (atom has no hardware buttons for the softkeys, and before buying it I want to be sure that one-handed operation is possible).
Thanks.
you can do it, but it's not easy because at least on the equivalent device (magician), the edge of the device tends to get in the way of the softkeys, which are like 7mm high. But it's perfectly feasible, and in the absense of dedicated keys, why not!?
None of these phones are particularly well setup for one handed use, but with some work, can be made that way!

vijay555,
thanks for the answer!
This is the first real user feedback I get about this.
I hope now that some Atom user will report, too.
I have been using the ATOM for the past 1 month and I have always used my thumb to activate the Softkey on the screen
it is much more comfortable that way
The ATOM is too small to use the bottom key (o2 media plus key ) as soft key (only key that can be reassigned in the front panel )
Also U cannot re map the Windows key as of now

Guys, can you not assign the Softkeys to hardware keys?
I could write an app to do that...

Thanks, good to know that that can be done.
What are the hardware buttons that can be remapped?
I read in a review that four hardware buttons can be remaped:
that should be "o2 media plus", "camera", "voice note".
What is the fourth? Power?
I think I use the recent apps button more than any other button on the screen or the dock. Does anyone know if there is a short cut for that button built in to the dock? Maybe a key combo or something? I love how easy it is to switch between apps with that button, but I sometimes wish I didn't have to tap the bottom of the screen to do so.
Does anone know of a keyboard shortcut to do this?
As far as I can see, there is no such thing. This and the lack of accidental touch filtering on the trackpad are the only negatives that I've found in the dock.

The "function" key to disable the touchpad works wonders.
Have you guys tried holding down the home key on the keyboard?
Yes. No dice.
FN+ Home? Maybe shoot an email to asus and see if it's something they will add, or is super hidden.
(I'm just throwing things out there I don't have one, lol)
Hi,
I'm trying out a bluetooth mouse with my Galaxy Note 10.1 before purchasing a keyboard/mouse combo.
First thing I noticed that the mouse RightClick seems to be mapped to the 'Back' feature on the Note.
This means that whenever I use a Remote Desktop app, I must 'long tap' the screen to bring up the context menu.
Is there any way around this? I have read that an Asus tablet has a System setting that allows remapping from 'Back' to 'Context Menus' but I can't seem to find anything on the Note.
Thanks
Dan
Hello!
I was just wondering if we could change the function of the pen switch based on the application running. Something like the profiles of Intuos tablets.
Id like to use Alt with photoshop and Shift with zbrush, for example, and not having to go the pen options and change the function every single time.
Ideas?

Yes you need to get wacom feel driver for the pro. It will show up in control panel. Google Microsoft surface pressure sensitivity driver or Surface wacom driver

Hey man! Thanks, but I already have that driver installed.
The thing is it won't allow you to set the switch different functions based on the application, but rather choose only one.
I needed a way to use the switch as SHIFT at one time, and then ALT right after, without having to manually change the function in the control panel.
I use both photoshop and zbrush almost simultaneously and it would be a pain to change it back and forth every single time I change the application im working on.
Hello, how useful it is to have Android keys on the external keyboard?

Do you want to control music playing in the background without switching out of the app you're in?
Do you need to immediately jump to email, internet, or your calendar frequently?
Yes for both questions.
For Q1, I think most external keyboards such as the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 has volume up and down keys. What is the difference between these volume-control keys and specific Android volume-control keys?

I don't know, but I'd guess nothing.

Nothing is the correct answer, but they do allow you to adjust volume, brightness etc without taking your fingers off the keyboard.
But I think most keyboards (for Mac, for Windows) also allow us to adjust the volume and brightness. So, having an Android keyboard does not make a difference except activating email, calendar, web browser? As the tablet will be placed in a very close distance, one could also use the touch screen to activate them. Can I assign special functions to some keys of non-Android keyboard such as the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810? That could be very useful.

Not the same. With the hotkeys no matter what you're doing or what app you're using you can open internet, mail, or calendar in ONE button press. Without the hotkeys you need to switch out of your app, swipe to the icon, and hit it. That's three presses minimum. It doesn't sound like a big difference but it is and you'll get used to using them (and annoyed without them) quickly.
So, it is better to get an Android keyboard with Android function keys?

External keyboard helper answers any and all questions. Lets you assign hotkeys for android functions and apps and configure them to your preference with hotkeys being activated by hitting control or s ok mething similar. So no a android specific one isnt necessarily better unless you dont want to set something up at all. Which I doubt since your here on xda. I have mine set so key combos open certain apps and one opens up my multiwindow launcher allowing me to launch any app ive added to it as a floating window. Very useful when using a mouse and keyboard
