I installed cyanogenmod.. didnt like how it handled sdcard and internal memory.
Then I tried doing some stupid fixes that I found on these forums.. They didn't work so I decided to try to flash the leaked gingerbread rom.
Now my phone is starting in clockworkmod recovery and I can't do anything because I'm getting these stupid errors:
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
And no, I can't wipe, that's the first thing I tried.
Update:
Can't restore to stock. It won't let me format /cache, /system, and /data
Nvflash, put a new rom on the sd card, flash.

exact same thing happened to me, corrupted your internal partitions and you need to basicly wipe the partition table of your internal memory and manually redo every partition, i think theres 8 different ones, search around about using adb shell and parted to do that honestly i spent 2 days figuring it out myself and i dont know how i would begin explaining it, but youre not left with a total brick l ike i thought lol.. its fixable.

Well you might have messed up then... can to clockwork recovery? If not you prolly have to turn your device into an APX driver. They have a guide on this forum but I'm to lazy to find it..

that error means that the phone cant mount the cache partition it either isnt there annymore or the partition is corrupted, cant flash anything at all is the partitions arent there, flashing only formats existing partitions, but wont flash if they are not mountable, gahh first you need to learn how to use adb shell, google it, you have to install the android sdk for it, the partition table for the g2x is somewhere in these forums, search helps, i cant remember all the commands off the top of my head, but searchign around .. google is your best friend, you can find all you need, i did, and this is my first android phone with no experience on the android system ~ if it wassnt 8am and i wasnt with 0 sleep or felt motivated i would look up a few links, but married with children on netflix is quite entertaining.

Okay, thats a bit helpful. I have the adb shell already set up from other attempts at fixing this thing. So all I really need are the commands to reformat the partitions

Thanks man! I'll try this out when I get home.
once in adb shell
parted /dev/block/mmcblk0
is the command you type to gen into the partition... print all will display your partition table, and just type .. help or commands i forget and read thru what the commands do, you'll figure it out xD
What do I do from there? I tried creating the partitions from (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12932334&postcount=35) but it says the location is out of the device /dev/block/mmcblk0
Nevermind, I figured it out. I had to change the units in parted. It was in MB i had to change it to KiB.
GOD DAMNIT. I fixed the partitions and restored a rom and now its stuck in the LG boot logo.
****ing god damn it i can't even get into cwm recovery.
I saw your post on reddit, tried to help but I guess I was out of my league
try nvflasher now? you don't even need the phone on to do that. it sounds like you got your partitions fixed, should be smooth sailing from here on out. Have you tried formatting the sdcard?
Yeah I tried reflashing cwm recovery with nvflash if thats what you're saying, but to no avail. Still stuck on LG boot screen.
FINAL EDIT: yeah I gave up here. Anyone else with these problems might want to just restore to stock recovery and exchange it at T-mobile. That's what I ended up doing.
I got the same problem too
I can get to CWM, but with the errors can't mount /cache/ recovery/command and other 4 lines.
Cant wipe or format anything.
Please help me out of this.
Thank you
I'm wanting to test out another rom, but for some reason I cannot back up my existing rom in cwm. I'm currently on CM7.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hold power and both buttons on the volume rocker until the phone reboots. When you see the Samsung logo, let go of power, but keep holding the rocker down. This boots you into recovery.

Just wanted to make sure I was doing it right. Well still no luck. After the back up says complete, this is the log info.
No/sdcard/.android_secure found.
Skipping backup of applications on external storage.
Backing up cache...
No sd - ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext
Generating md5 sum...
Backup complete.
so I reboot the phone after that, went into cwm and there's no backup from the back up list. :/

Have you recently tried to move any files between your SD card and PC? Sometimes cards can become corrupted, or certain files at least can also become bad and not read. The more you mount and unmount the more degraded it gets. If you tried to delete any files, did you accidentally delete something from your internal SD?
Not that I'm aware of. When I get home ill try transferring a small file over. As far as the internal SD card its fine.

I performed a Factory Reset / Wipe and was under the impression this cleared everything off the Xoom that I had added. Upon looking at the /mnt/sdcard folder I see folders of Apps that I had previously installed.
Question
Can the /mnt/sdcard be formatted ? If so how ?
Not super familiar with the whole file system setup so If this is a noob/stupid question could you please explain things for me.

There are two ways that I know of that I personally have done just in the last week or so. First you can unmount the SD card from the Xoom and place it in an Android Cell Phone, and go to settings/storage and from there unmount the card and click reformat SD card. Or you can hook the Xoom up via USB and clear it from within the PC/mac. Hope this helped.

Nope that would be for the micro USB card this is the /mint/sdcard which is part of the internal memory

Fastboot -w wipes all user data including /mnt/sdcard I lost some pictures of my dog because of it
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
The simplest way I know of is thru the Backup/Restore options in CWM, just doing the wipes won't do it. I use the Team Rogue version of CWM tho, i don't remember off hand if it can be done in the other recovery's (i.e. Rom Managers version or the one from solarnz that is most popular).
I just, personally, like the way the menus are laid out with Team Rogue's version and not having like a dozen No's with one Yes when confirming an action, nothing against the others.
Thanks guys I will try the Fastboot -w when at home and able to use it and Team Rogue's Recovery when at work.
Its been awhile but what is the option in Team Rogue recovery I dont see one to wipe the Internal data

I believe that its or in the Advance or Mount Storage options....
So. I repartitioned my internal memory so i could use it to boot up my mac(long story short). I changed it to GUID partition table and formatted it to Mac OSX. Now iforgot how it was originally set up and CMW will not mount/reformat it. Im assuming i need to change it to Master Boot Record and partition it to MS-DOS (FAT). is this correct? will someone please give me some advice?

Can you load cwm? You can format emmc from there and then run the cleanup batch.
Are you able to download the bootloader?

There doesn't seem to be an easy-to-use interface to mount the internal sdcard (emmc) - but you can still do it. Go into Advanced, then Terminal Command, select / as your starting folder (working directory - just hit select it'll likely be there as default), then type in the following:
/sbin/mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p28 /emmc
Then when you back out of there and get to the Install area, you can switch between the internal and external. Hope that helps!
