So i bought a nexus 4 and i cut my Skyrocket's sim card down to a micro sim to fit the nexus 4. Ive been using the nexus 4 for a couple weeks now and the sim card works fine. yesterday when i put my sim card back into my skyrocket with an adapter, my skyrocket wont detect the sim and keeps saying "No Sim" everything was working fine before and my sim works fine in the nexus so i dont know whats wrong. Ive tried Odin-ing back to stock still says No Sim. anyone else have this problem?? if someone has a solution that'd be great.
Thanks
You cut up the sim card. It probably doesn't fit right any more.
What was best before sliced bread?
ok ya turns out its just not fitting properly with the adapter.. i put it in without the adapter and its working... phew thought hardware was broken

Hi all:
I am hoping that there are some hardware folks out there that may be able to shed some light on my situation.
I have a 4G Xoom. I wanted to be able to use the same SIM card in my Xoom as my Razr Maxx, but the Maxx uses a micro SIM, so I activated a regular mini SIM in my wife's Spectrum with my phone number and tried the SIM in the Xoom and it worked great. I then cut the SIM down to micro size and put it in my Razr Maxx, again worked great.
I planned on using the remainder of the mini SIM card that I punched the micro SIM from as an adapter for use in the Xoom. I figured that it was a good idea to store the "adapter" in the SIM card tray/slot of the Xoom until I needed it...BAD IDEA! Due to the nature of the spring loaded contacts the "adapter" got stuck, hung up on the contacts. I thought that an easy fix would be to slide something thin in the slot to free up the adapter. It worked in so far as I got the tray and the homemade adapter out, but I must have pressed too hard on the back three contacts as they no longer made contact with a SIM card.
I took the Xoom apart and used a paper clip to raise the contacts back up, but I raised them too far so I went in again and still didn't get it right because although I had a signal on the meter I could not connect to anything. The third time was the charm. I got a signal and was surfing the web!
Now the strange/good part. I now get a full 4G signal (presumably because I am roaming on a non-Verizon tower) as opposed to the usually poor signal at my house. I live right on the edge of a Verizon 4G service area. The Xoom surfs much faster now than before I broke it, but why? Did I short something out? Did I fail to raise one of the contact pins enough? It isn't the SIM, I verified that with another device. I did something to the SIM card slot, contacts, or a related electrical component, but what?
I want to "break"my Razr Maxx and my wife's Spectrum also!
Thanks for any thoughts from any of you hardware guys or anyone that knows how SIM cards work. I don't even know what contact/pin does what.
Thanks
RTW

You should be able to take it to a local electronic repair man and have them do it, if your xoom is out of warranty.
I just got this phone today unlocked from tmobile and inserted my custom-cut nano sim into the nano to micro adapter and inserted it into the phone. Everything was fine for a while but i started noticing my data and signal was cutting in and out by itself when the screen was off maybe for 3 minutes or longer. This is a significant problem as you can imagine. I checked every single setting i could and nothing would make it do so. Any advice or suggestions? Im using a straight talk att micro sim card that i had cut down to fit my i5S but came back to android and used a noosy sim adapter. Maybe its the fact that the card is custom cut (so it already doesnt fit the adapter like its supposed to)? I really need help here. Yes i have the proper apn settings and im fully stock.

Hi all.
Received a supposedly new Galaxy S6 today and the seal was broken.
All seemed OK with phone so accepted it.
Put in a 3 sim card as phone is unlocked. Problem is it just says "Not connected to network" when trying to make a call. Though it has received 2 text messages and I managed to send one after the phone tried to send it for 30 minutes. Phone also isn't showing any data connection. It's been tried with the sim out my old phone and also with a new sim from 3 store today. Sim had been in phone for approx 8 hrs before I run out of ideas.
So the phone definitely works. Just can't seem to figure out why its not working properly . I'm thinking it likely hardware fault though would like anyones opinions or suggestions.
Cheers for reading the post

The new SIM card probably is not yet activated. Bring your S6 back to your telecom provider so they can test there with a working SIM. If it does not work then it maybe a hardware problem. Have them replaced your S6 if it is.
Sim was activated. 3 store tried it in another phone and it worked ok.
To make matters worse. I put nano sim converter inside Galaxy S3 to test my old phone. Couldn't get it out and bent pins inside phone DOH!
After leaving the store and arriving home my phone was showing full signal and the '3' symbol. Unfortunately would still not send a text or make a call.
My conclusion is that the phone isn't quite reading the Sim properly.
My decision now is to either wait till the seller replies(Who I don't trust) to numerous messages I have left or just send it off to Samsung for repair.
Cheers for replying

Send to Samsung for repair.
I've sent the phone back to seller.
I'm beginning to doubt myself though after this nightmare. This is going to be a long story....
When the S6 arrived I had to cut my micro sim down out of my S3 to nano size. I'm quite a perfectionist when it comes to stuff like this and did a good job. Though as the S6 didn't hold a signal I went into 3 store for brand new nano sim. Put it into the S6 instore and it was the same. Though they said wait up to four hours for it to register properly. Went home and after 6 hours still no luck. So I decided to try it in my S3.
This is when the nightmare began.
As I needed it micro size I cut out a template to put nano sim in. When trying to insert it in I wasn't happy. So I tried to take it out and the tip caught hold of the sim reader pins and came away. So I had a bit of plastic stuck in sim reader. Boy could I not get it out. So had no option but to buy a new sim/Mem card reader. Local shop wanted a tenner for one. Had no option so bought it along with a proper nano to micro sim housing and went along home.. Fitted it and then went along to the 3 store armed with both S3 and S6 to make sure I could either get the S6 working and if not get the sim put in the S3.
This is where my next dumb moments was. So I didn't lose the nano to Micro template I partially slotted it into the S3 sim reader.
Got to 3 store, explained S6 wasn't working with new nano sim and asked if they could check the sim was ok. They tried it in a HTC and it worked fine.
So this to me proved the S6 was faulty.
So I asked if they would put it into my S3 to show it worked ok in that.
So they went to put the Sim in my S3 and couldn't get the template out as i'm not sure if they pushed the sim converter all the way in!! As no sim was in the template the pins had hooked onto it. So ended up damaging the sim reader again. Jesus!!
So no working phone again. Just an apparent working nano sim.
Got home ordered ANOTHER sim/mem reader.
To get me connected I ended up taping the nano sim in place on the S3 and part of an old credit card on top so the rear cover put pressure on the sim as well. This was after cutting away the top part of the original sim reader to get the plastic out and to expose the pins. LO and behold it worked!!! Full signal just like I normally get and H+ data
So I've had a phone for last 24hrs working and got home tonight to find the new sim/card reader had arrived. Thought wow that was quick delivery. Took sim out and thought i'd give S6 one last try as I install the new sim reader. . Still no luck getting stable signal so boxed up S6 to return. Put sim into S3 with proper template AND you'll never guess what........ITS DOING EXCACTLY THE SAME THE S6 WAS!!!!
S3 now keeps dropping signal and going into emergency only calls. I'm thinking why didn't I just not touch it.
So is it possible that the 3 network throws a Dummy every time you swap sim into different phones??? Its just strange the S3 is doing excactly what the S6 was. Or could the S6 be upsetting the sim?
God i'm really baffled as there always seems to be more than one factor into the equation of whats wrong.
Now I'm just waiting to get hold of another sim to try or just hope after leaving my S3 on overnight it might settle down.
God phones....I hate em LOL
Just to clear up the Sim issue with the S3. Even though it was connected on the '3' network and not receiving calls. I happened to check the manual network provider list again and it was showing the '3' network twice in the list. Clicked on the one it wasn't auto selecting and S3 is working fine again. Tried the Sim in the S6 again hoping that may have been the problem also. Again the S6 manual network provider was showing the '3' network twice in the list....But unfortunately still didn't connect to network properly.
So S6 definitely going back Monday.
Anyone know if having your network provider listed twice in the network settings is normal? Or is it possible that '3' have not programmed the sim properly?
Cheers

Hi, I had one plus one updated and I decided to flash LineageOS to it.
after I did it I got an error that sim not found , after searching in google I decided to go back to stock ROM. (I followed this tutorial https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-return-opo-to-100-stock-t2826541)
Now I'm still getting the error SIM not found.
I can see my IMEI.
I have the latest version(no updates)
I looked in FAQ and did a search in google ' didn't found solution.
it worked for a few minutes with LINEAGEOS but then stopped suddenly
my SIM works fine in other phones
Happened to me as well. Sim would work fine on other phones but not on my OPO.
Take out your SIM and place a piece of paper on top of it before placing it in SIM card tray. Insert and reboot.
Solved the problem for me. :good:

works. thanks.
Happened to me and to a friend before and i can confirm that it works. It all started when the nano sim adapter got stuck juuust a little bit in the sim tray, so after removing it i was unable to get the sim to work , so i tried the method with ductape, and it worked, and one day i dissassembled the phone to change the camera and i find out that the some of the pins in the sim tray got cut and became shorter so they couldn't reach the sim card preperly, and adding the ductape would push the sim card to it so it can make a proper contact, but i found it ashaming to put so thing and fragile pins like that because i can assure you that i didn't pull or force the sim adapter, but i was just shaking the phone so it can fall.
HI,
I bought my son A53 in best buy in the United States
my phone version is SM-A536U1/DS I was told the phone is unlocked
I am in Israel now and everything was fine for 5 months and I had no problems
but in the last week the phone cant find my SIM card and I get a message saying
Insert SIM Card and my phone cant find the SIM
What Can I do to fix this Problem?
well either there is hardware fault or maybe the sim cannot be read.
i suggest try cleaning the sim first with a soft sponge or q-tip. If the problem persists try blowing compressed air in the sim slot. If that doesnt work either try your sim in some other working phone. If it works then your phone is faulty.
