the things is, i have an android stick computer attached to my tv, and i have also an old android device collecting dust (htc wildfire) i want to use wildfire's camera for the android tv stick, for skype and other programs, is this possible. i don't wanna do it via apps like IP webcam, because i's horribly slow, i want a local connection if that's even possible. through a usb cable or a local wireless connection, or anything. help me out plz

I have a MyTouch 3G that I rooted and run Cyanogen on.
I recently got a new G2 (hate that its not perma-rooted yet) and have my SIM card in it.
So... what cool things can I do with my old MyTouch without cellular data connection (besides the obvious mp3 player, gaming device, etc)? Its a small computer with usb, bluetooth, wifi, gps, and a camera.
Some ideas:
Is it possible to make it a bluetooth receiver for music? If so, I could have it permanently hooked up to a car stereo via 3.5mm cable and then other things could connect to it via bluetooth. This would be useful for my parent's RV which has an aux input but no bluetooth.
Can turn it into a security device and stream video?... either stream it to another computer on the network which runs a webserver, or run a webserver on the android device itself?
Can you turn it into a USB trackpad to plug into any computer?
I know you can plug the phone into a computer and it appears as external storage, but can you plug external storage into the phone? Could I buy a huge 1Tb+ external hard drive and let this thing be a fileserver (or anything a SheevaPlug / PogoPlug can do?)
Can it become a wireless repeater?
Is anybody doing any of these things now?
What are you doing with your old device?
I expect ROMs out there geared towards a single purpose as more and more people get Android devices then upgrade to newer Android devices.

I'm embarking on an ambitious project and i was wondering if anyone could help me by giving suggestions.
I am making my own home automation system, and I already have the necessary hardware to get it up and running, but I want to take it a step farther.
I have this (Use google translate lol) http://cba.sakura.ne.jp/kit01/kit_399.htm kit, which is basically a set of 8 relay switches that can be used to turn on and off mains devices (such as lights, powerpoints, ect) that are controlled by a computer through a DB25 printer port. I also have an old Dell D600 laptop that has said printer port, and the software needed to drive the circuit board. This is all well and good, as everything is working so far, but before I bother to install this thing in my roof and hook it up to control my lights, power points, ect, I was wondering if there is a way to use my android phone (HTC Legend, unrooted ) or tablet (Motorola xoom wifi rooted with Tiamat, o/c to 1.7ghz) to control this board through a computer.
I already have a client that remote controls the computer (splashtop remote), and I can achieve this with some difficulty by remote controlling the computer and using the PC software through my phone/tablet, but I was wondering if there is an android home automation program and its PC client service that supports DB25 printer port pinout settings, so I could directly control the circuit board through the app, like the leading home automation apps already available (minus the extremely expensive proprietary hardware that you need with them). If not, has anyone else considered developing one? If anyone could give me any help on this it would be greatly appreciated.
I want to be able to hook up my future Android handset to my TV and be able to use a bluetooth keyboard, and maybe a mouse.
What I would like to know is:
What phone that is available now that implements this well
What hardware I would need or may need to try out (such as an HDMI cable)
What software that would help this out if needed
What software would improve this type of experience
I have Sprint now, but may be looking to move to another carrier. I do not have a wireless router in my house, or any internet connection other than my phone. I would like to have a phone that runs Netflix very well.

Been trying to find a solution on net, but no success.
How to share my PC's internet connection (WiFi) with p6210 via USB? Stock OS, fresh Kies installed, Win7.
Supposedly there should be a "tether via USB" option in settings--wireless and networks, but there is none (also WiFi off on tab).
Remember this was no-issue on much older Android devices.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I'm not sure if it's the same but I have a P6200 and there is an option on Wireless > Tethering & Portable Hotspot. The tethering via usb is on gray and not clickable unless I connect it via usb of course. There is also bluetooth tethering.
Nope.. don't have that option. No built-in tethering, and also the best rated tethering software didn't work in any mode. But thanks for the effort. Obviously Samsung decided that I do not need that feature. Is it the Samsung, or is it the path Android is taking? Just thinking aloud here, don't get me wrong, but I'm getting frustrated. Monstrous specifications offering basic functions and fancy animations. I'm no expert by far, but have a feeling that my old Diamond with WM and lot of work from some great developers on this forum, could do magic. Isn't Android supposed to be an "open" OS? More and more it looks to me as a machinery for making money by pointing consumers in a profitable direction and limiting hardware capabilities of anything but cheap devices. I imagine buying a branded computer where the manufacturer decides that I really do not need all those options of the OS. And OS manufacturer allowing it.
But maybe this is just bit of frustration after a hard day. Anyone feeling offended, just disregard this post.
Windows can't share internet over usb - get a lan to usb connector from ebay, that will solve you're problem
What's up all.
So here's my thought... Is there a device out there to plug into a TV's HDMI port that will let me send video files wirelessly to it from my phone/computer so that I can watch the videos on the big screen instead of my phone/computer screen?
A few ideas:
- Is there a HDMI-to-bluetooth adapter/dongle that I could plug into the TV and send the videos bluetooth-ly to?
- Is there a HDMI-"SmartTV-creating" adapter (I've seen things like "Android mini pc"s on the 'net) that I could use to transform my TV into a SmartTV or an android "tablet/computer-like-device" and then send the video files from one device to the other? i.e. - devices like this one... http://www.amazon.com/UG007B-Quad-C...d=1389321213&sr=8-13&keywords=android+mini+pc with a wireless keyboard as well of course, and using either bluetooth or a wifi signal to send from my phone/computer to either stream, or transfer the file then watch.
- From what I know the Chromecast device at this time cannot do this, and only works for specific apps like HBO GO, Netflix, Hulu, etc., not for sending straight video files stored on a phone/tablet, but are there other such devices out there that do what I am looking to do?

Apart from all the other proprietary sets on the market, the wi-fi (802.11/...) USB dongle appear to be an easy way to connect your mobile/laptop/TV to the TV set. The disadvantage is the short range of about 10 feet, unless you use a wi-fi access point to extend the distance range.
On the TV side, attach a HDMI dongle
On a PC, attach wi-fi USB dongle. I think you will need a streaming software.
On a tablet, attach a OTG (On-The-Go) mini-USB-to-USB adapter and then the wi-fi USB dongle. Again, I would think you need a streaming software.
On a mobile phone, it will be more of a challenge. You could do wired-wireless combo:
Phone-to-computer using screen capture application (wi-fi, USB or Bluetooth), then Computer-to-TV via the wi-fi USB option above.

After thinking, I think the way I'll go about this is using Google Drive and an Android mini pc TV adapter. I can drop the video files (or whatever) into the drive on my computer or phone, then sync my TV Android to get the files to play.
