I saw this post by wang on 591fan
It seems like he has ported a custom kernel and is developing cm10.1 on it.
Thats a good news. We can finally have a stable version of cm
http://www.591fan.com/thread-41545-1-1.html
Looks good if it sorts out the bugs on cm10, id be more than happy !
And what he says in that? I don't understand nothing. Not even using the translator
Even i didnt get what he said.. read the comments and people are exclaiming about a new kernel.. 'sofa and front row' support from me too if its true
I am guessing kexec support has finally come to wang's cm10.1 version. That or he is using 2nd init to load it. This is not a true unlocked BL kernel... just for his cm10.1 only, you will most likely not be able to use it with other roms, unless it a cm based one, that say altered could stuff into his PA versions or something.
The real issue will be battery life and RAM usage, because with kexec and 2nd init, you load the stock kernel then unload that and load the "custom one" so there is still some ram holding some of the "old/stock kernel" all the time.
And cand somebody talk to him? Or at least tell him that we are wondering what he do
Just give it some time you will find out exactly what is going on.....
This sounds complex...so thats why cm10.1 is dead at the moment..bootloader being locked down..i thought a custom kernel wasnt possible.

That's is great but that does mean we have to load the kernel by kexec and use 2nd inuit like Jim mentioned correct
And will we be able to run the new kernel with Bmm and patch... Would love to try it
Bmm
1. Stock 4.0.4
2. Miui
3. PA 310 4.2.2
4. CMPA 4.1.2

The new ROM and kernel is a single flashable zip file. Wang reminded that the ROM does not support bmm.
From what I read from the forum, some people are facing bootloop after flashing the ROM
Any brave ATT tester ??
I know it won't flash w/ patched bmm... I've Tried bout dozen times
Bmm
1. Stock 4.0.4
2. Miui
3. PA 310 4.2.2
4. CMPA 4.1.2
You can not use BMM to flash this, even with the patch.
YOU MUST use either safestrap, which can boot kexec ROMS, but most likely this will barf since wang has CWM build into his roms with 2nd init, so....
You will HAVE to flash this with bootstrap and it will be your only ROM. I have read that others are having issues getting it to boot at all right now, so my guess is that this is still not ready for prime time yet, go check out the dev thread about the cm10.1 ROM, that hankbizzo5 posted, it talks about everyone bootlooping who has tried this, so far.

it should work just fine with bmm.. of course as long as kexec files are in the right place.. download is almost completed.. will check now..
And considering how things are going, looks like you will have to get back your ATRIX 2 now ..
EDIT: As expected, kexec files are in/system/bootmenu/2nd-boot. Moved to the right place and tried with bmm.. well, once the modules are loaded and kexec executed, bmm loses where the system files are.. but then again, whirleyes says 2nd boot is WIP.. so no option as of now.. I will try editing the ramdisk tomorrow.. hope things work.. now off to installing by bootstrap..

Sorry, but this should NOT work with BMM.... BMM has its own way of handling the boot of the ROM. Wang has CWM built in with 2nd init, even using the patch with the 2nd init and kexec, this should NOT work. It is MUCH safer NOT to use BMM.
There are reasons BMM was made, and the way that CWM being embedded in the ROM with kexec, makes this much more complex, than just the standard boot with your stock kernel, no matter how kexec was implemented.
Yeah I really do not want my A2 back, sorry guys. The whole moto thing left a real bad taste in my mouth, besides working on Ubuntu phone is way more my style anyhow. I am only in here, since it looks like most have bailed. It looks like there are really only 2 devs still left, so I am kind of slowly stepping away. I am still doing some work on the back side, just do not want to do the day to day with it anymore.
Please, look into kexec and how BMM does that pass off, as well as the way that wang has it implemented into the ROM, and where he does the kernel switch off, all of those things matter. It specifically says on 591fan that bootstrap is the ONLY way to do this right now, there are several reasons behind this. BMM is mentioned but not recommended.

So I've upgraded to CM9(cm9-droid3-20120216-2345) which went fine.. However I have no service, no market, and for some reason the USB/Portal doesn't work the same with CM9.. I know the files are there, I can see them when I go to 'Install zip from sdcard'.. At this point I just want to get back to SuperCharged_V_5 and I have been beating my head all morning over this.. What where did u get cm9 that works for our phone please give me the link
I guess I didn't read the fine print, but yea at this point I just want to get back to SuperCharged_V_5.. Any time I try to restore it doesn't find my SDCARD but I can see everything if I go to Install Zip from SDCARD
I'd really appreciate some help on this..
Disregard, I don't know how I managed to do it but I am back on 2.3.5 now..

It does not work for our phone yet. lfaber06 and I have been working on it and CM7 for SEVERAL months now. The issue with CM9 is finding a radio for our phone that works with ICS (which is what CM9 is based off of). Go take a look at the post in the development section on it.
For those that would like to take a look at flashing it, you MUST use safestrap, which is having issues right now, and is very low priority since we have CWM through bootstrap and the CWM on boot hack.
Here is where the CM9 post is located, but I advise that you read the WHOLE thread, and if you would like to help you can start looking for a working radio that is similar to ours that is already on ICS.

The port does not work period. It was only posted for our dev team to help get it working. It is not going be working anytime soon.
I am working on a new CM9 compile specifically for our phone. I already have most of CM7 working as well, will be getting that out soon. CM9 will be a couple months away.

If you can go fastboot mode, then you should use the restore 2.3.5 fastboot script look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1539167
this has save me a thousands of times
In the meantime if you absolutely must mess around with ICS on your phone, all the Droid 3 4.0.4 AOKP nightlies will flash via bootstrap, but again, radio doesn't work.

The kexec and the recovery+boot method was ingenious, but does this mean we can boot custom kernels from the /boot partition now? I was a little worried about trying kexec, and it was holding me back, but will we be able to flash CM10 and boot normally now? Does anyone have the instructions and the files needed, or can point me to where the instructions are?
I've heard so many good things about CM rooms I'm very excited to finally try it on my recently NORMAL (referring to it bein like the ones on all the other carriers) SGS3 very soon.
Thanks

yes, unlock bootloader and flash the non-kexec cm10 nightly!
Once the ROMs are updated for non-kexec, yes. There's a test nightly build for CM10 out now without kexec.
Yeah I would hold off until you get the go ahead from the CM team. Just my opinion though.

This is the bootstrap recovery for atrix 2 based on clockworkmod recovery 6 [CWM 6] to be used with MIUI v5
Steps to use bootstrap cwm6:
1. Install the Atrix2Bootstrap.apk in the rooted leaked jellybean #3
2. Select "Bootstrap Recovery"
3. Superuser will prompt for permissions. Give access to it
4. Select "Reboot Recovery"
5. Then flash latest MIUI v5
6. With this recovery ie CWM6, Direct OTA update will work, the phone will flash the OTA and automatically reboot. Earlier Bootstrap based on CWM5 threw an error if we tried to auto update from system updates. This is the recommended recovery to be used with MIUI v5. Now you wont get any error messages while OTA update.
If you find the post useful...plz hit thanks.

I'm wondering the same thing since I don't care much about multi-booting. My guess would be that you would have to flash the ROM first, then uninstall BMM, then install this but don't take my word for it yet. I'm going to play around with it once I get home and charge up my A2.
@arnab, thanks for this.:thumbup:
If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.
It works perfectly...U don't have to worry a thing...Personally I like non kexec based custom ROMs...But be sure to remove BMM before installing it.

Good point out that IS one thing I like with BMM. Forgot CWM doesn't really work that way without an extra mod probably.

Wish we could boot kexec with this
seems like alot of extra work required to get a recovery that you cant boot directly into, and that no still worked on ROM actually support this anymore.
So from a BMM ROM, must remove BMM recovery by using the BMM application, then remove the app, then install this and then use it to install the recovery that we cant get into at boot.
Is that correct?
Not purposely coming off as an ass, can just see alot of problems coming from it.
You will not be able to boot any kexec/2nd init based roms using this.. @OP, I recommend you to take a look at the cmdefy recovery in altered's github or wang's.. If you want to get them working..
In short your recovery must start on every boot (look into Cwm on every boot) and then run a script that loads kexec or 2nd init..

I am not sure of how relevant this is but out of my personal experience, if you have already installed BMM make sure to search for the logwrapper.bin file being altered (or was it deleted, don't recall) issue in the forum before uninstalling BMM, else it may cause you grief.
EDIT
Just looked it up, the issue was :
Quote
DO NOT INSTALL BMM IF YOU USED A2 BOOTSTRAPPER BEFORE. THAT WILL MESS THINGS UP WITH YOUR LOGWRAPPER.BIN. THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE YOU WILL BOOT LOOP AFTER REBOOT. NOW IF FOR SOME REASON YOU DID NOT READ THIS, AND GET A MESSAGE ABOUT BMM ASKING YOU TO GET HELP, BEST THING FOR YOU TO DO IS RECHARGE YOUR BATTERY FULLY AND FXZ BACK. OR THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE YOU WILL HAVE TO USE MCGRUVYER METHOD OR ANOTHER A2 BATTERY. USER RAD7 RECENTLY HAD QUITE A LOT OF TROUBLE WITH HIS BATTERY DYING AFTER BMM MESSED WITH LOGWRAPPER. YOU HAVE BEEN INFORMED.
I want to thank all those who replied. As you all gave me a clear & concise understanding of the issue being discussed. And I will be staying with BMM for all the reasons that were very easy to understand.

If I am not mistaken you can uninstall BMM from within the app itself and it will automatically clean all of that up for you. It's been a while since I've had the time to experiment with my A2, but I'm almost positive of that at least.

Yeah you are right in what you have stated but what I wanted the guys to be wary was installing BMM after previously having installed and uninstalled A2 bootstrap in which case the logwrapper.bin issue crops up causing boot loop and battery cannot be charged until fresh fxz via rsd is done. Even I have not been experimenting for long but strongly contemplating getting aboard jbx :fingers-crossed:

You should either ask for support from the developer on the website you downloaded the ROM from, or just flash the FXZ for your phone and start over. If you don't know how to flash an FXZ then you've got some reading to do. There is a great and comprehensive guide to flashing FXZs by alteredlikeness in this forum so I'm not going to try to explain it here. Besides, alteredlikeness did it better than I could anyway. Just read and make sure you understand what you're doing before getting started to avoid any further complications. Good luck!

The only catch is from what I have read that the Wifi will not work unless you odin the leak first. For some reason it seems that you have to have the new leaked bootloader. I have talked to a couple of the people that made a zip flash keeping the bootloader we are on, but no wifi. I stopped working on making a zip after I found that out. I have thought about using odin to flash the leak then flashing the Rom from the link above, but am not sure if I would be able to go back to the roms that I am running on the old bootloader. I am just going to wait until some people that knows what they are are doing picks the leak apart more. Anywho if you are interested goto that thread above and do some reading. I personally am just going to stay away until we know more about the new bootloader. I know that the leak can be rooted though because chainfire released an update specifically for the 4.4.2 leak.

I did try flashing with Odin a day ago, I'm assuming since the Download Mode has "No authorization" it's due to the locked bootloader we have. Well after hours of farting around with their build and mine, I pretty much lost interest with the ROM now. Their build definitely has WiFi broken. I'm not sure if it's kernel related or not.
I think I'm with you on waiting for this to improve before using. Besides CM11 with Google Experience Launcher is looking and feeling great this past month...
Here is a like to Echoe13_4.4.2Deodex_12JAN2013.zip it works but you need to loki patch it and wifi don't work.

hello my friends somebody have one solution for the problem of wifi in rom stock o custom deodex of echoe in 4.4.2... And please can explainme what is the loky patch...? tks for your help and sorry for my english..!
Loki only has to be flashed on the At&t variant of the S4 after installing a zip that was not an At&t rom. The WiFi issue I believe is from not updating the bootloader via OTA and possibly kernel tweaks as well but it will get there. We have great devs for this device.

You need a kernel made from the 4.4.2 source code which has not been released yet for the wifi.
For loki patch on att, download loki-doki, put it on your SD, go to recovery, flash rom, flash loki doki. If you are using a rom made for att chances are the kernel will already be patched.

what kernel were you guys using on the echoe roms? I couldn't get past the boot screen and it hung using the i337m Canadian variant which should be the same as their TMO version minus the leaked bootloader.
There is a new NA5 leak out. I am in the I337 and have tried the NA1 leak Roms Indies Omega and Echoe and I always hang up on the boot menu. Guess we will have to wait for the official and the Kernel info for it to work for us.

I didn't know there was a nlthread on this on my native device. I Have been posting on the Tmobile thread since the leak first came out.
I also unpacked both Leaks and repacked only their respective boot, system and cache files and successfully flashed via Odin. the cool part was that I didn't lose root and only needed to add the new supersu. I had a titanium backup zip which I also flashed.
the problems are as follows
1. No WiFi. attempting to flash KT kernel bricked it. had to start all over
2. Security settings caused a FC. so couldn't enable installation from unknown sources.
3. Restoring user apps using Titanium backup (after freezing all Knox apps) worked. but adding any system apps caused a bad series of forced closures
so unless u have got an unlimited data plan, this is just something to play around with for now it would seem
AFAIK I337M devices share the same hardware with I9505 ones; so can I flash I9505XXUFNA5 onto my I337m?

The bootloader would block odin from accepting the full package. The best u can do is pick n choose parts to flas like i did. And you'll end up with a similar scenario
But you could use this modified version and search for Magical unicorn kernel and see

@gangsta101: so what bits did you chose to flash? is AP and CP and exclude BL and CSC for instance?
