It is true as Sony has changed the list
According to Sony official due to very good response from sale of tipo
Sony has decided to make it hit and give JELLYBEAN update...

Its just a rumor, no official post from sony :|

Re: Xperia tipo Official Jelly Bean
You guys are believing in rumors? SONY only Upgrades their 2012 High End Xperia and Latest 2013 Xperia to Jelly Bean.
And yes it's correct as someone stated above that SONY never made an Official Statement about it.
And Why this thread belong in Development Section? Whats the development in here? This thread is belong to the General Section because no Link to SONY Source nor Download Link to that "Most Likely a Lie Firmware". So please move this thread to the General Section (Just wanted to make this Forum Development Tidy)

Most likely untrue. It just an article quoting another article. Looks like Tipo will stay together with ICS.

yep i will belive this when i can update tipo..

This is the last official information that I read when I bought my phone:
http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2012/12...an-android-4-1-for-2012-xperia-smartphones-2/
I read too (but I don't remember where :S) that Sony doen't update to Jelly Bean due to performance issues ... but I can see in this forum many custom ROMs with Jelly Bean in our Tipo :S
I would like to see an official Jelly Bean on my Tipo.... I have locked bootloader and I can't install JB ROMs
Regards!

Just Google it u will find many articles about it...
Rumours have some base they didn't come all alone fake....
Well tipo Can be upgraded to jellybean
As there r two mobiles worst than tipo
Galaxy music and chat that are getting jellybean..

Nope. Once, there were rumours of Xperia U getting Jelly Bean within a week. A week past and it announced that Xperia U will not get JB. So most likely the rumours are fake. Besides, Sony usually do not upgrade ultra low end phones like Tipo.

Just kidding I also think it won't be. That is what this forum is for. Just wait FXP to be stable and that will be our "jellybean" update.

Yes as I understand, then the development of CM10.1 will be easier and more stable because of the new kernel/drivers or something released by Sony.
However, Xperia J got jellybean already and devs can take that from it for CM10.1 for Tipo/Miro and there is no need anymore for official jellybean..

Also there are many users that have locked bootloader...

As far as I know, the phone's RAM is not enough for the JB... but the Xperia E (with the same hardware as in Tipo) comes with JB OOB, so that should not be a problem...
Anyway, can't wait to see a method that allows custom ROM installation in phones with locked bootloader, like in Xperia Sola.

AW: Xperia tipo/tipo dual Official Jelly Bean
As I stated elsewhere I think it's all about the money... Here on xda you can find jelly bean Roms for old low end phones. Example: x10 mini, great stable jelly bean Roms are available there. And those phones have even worse hardware then tipo... Sony could provide jelly bean if they wanted... But why should they want it? They want to sell new phones! So don't complain, buy a new phone or support the devs here, even with donations, so they're motivated to make all this efforts! Just my personal opinion...

The first devices to receive the ICS update are Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo V and Xperia Ray. Other Sony Ericsson devices such as the original Arc, the Xperia Play, original Neo and the Xperia Mini and Mini Pro duo - plus the Xperia Active and Live with Walkman are also slated to get the ICS update by March/April 2012.

About 4.3 update.

We get or not?
I don't think we will see a upgrade, Mediatek doesn't care about updating the MT6589 SoC.

The thing is, Sony doesn't care. Just check how ignorant they are in their support forums.
Also Sony can't do a **** if Mediatek doesn't provide them with sources and blobs for 4,3 or 4,4.

Ok, wanna know a thing? Sony dont care at all about our device as it's a midrange device, and we will never see a unlocked bootloader. The thing is that Sony is the ones who have crippled our bootloader, not Mediatek.

Mediatek doesn't need to take any changes to the bootloader, this is all caused by Sony's stupid decisions to cripple down the device. All other devices with the MT6589 SoC comes with a unlocked bootloader. Don't be so ignorant and give all complaints to mediatek.

There are a plenty of devices which have received 4.4, and it's just Sony who is lazy and have always been. They don't have enough resources and it's their own fault. Also, Sony doesn't care much about our device at all, as they don't even fix the issues...

i dont find any thing truth in above words
coz if it was like that then you could have change your device very early
being a recognize developer till now you have used xperia devices maximum
list of devices you have used
Xperia X8 ➜ CM7 ➜ nAa kernel
Xperia Ray ➜ CM10.1 ➜ nAa 3.4 kernel
Xperia U ➜ CM10.1 ➜ Unknown kernel
Xperia Arc S ➜ CM10.2 ➜ nAa 3.4 kernel
Nexus 7 ➜ AOKP ➜ M-Kernel
Xperia C ➜ Stock ➜ Stock kernel
now its obvious that you have great knowledge abt android and that is why you are a recognize developer right
so if there was any thing truth in above words you could have changed your device but you are still with xperia
which shows weather you believe it or not you like sony and that why you stick to it
i haven't changes many devices like you but below is the list of devices which i have used
xperia mini pro
xperia x10
xperia arc s
samsung grand( it really sucks)
samsung galaxy S4 (good but not unique like sony)
xperia j

The reason why I have purchased Xperia devices is because I got them with a contract or got them for a good price. I'm going toswitch to Samsung or Nexus in a 3-4 months.
Also, it's not about what devices I use, but I don't like Sonys phones anymore as they have been letting me down many times.

well it depends
if you are looking for cheaper 5 inch screen branded phone then its the best choice
reasons
Sony a reliable name
clean smart and perfect UI and applications
featured app(album walkmen movies)
update services and pc compainien support
i m not 100% sure that we will get 4.4 or later may be coz its 2014 devise
i am 101% satisfied with the device
performance 5/5
user interface 5/4(missing messing and contact and other latest app)(but that wod be done as soon as we get bootloader unlocked)
look 5/5(complite z or z1 look)
in short for me its been worth investment
Read this guys, finally mediatek updating their SoC to KitKat http://www.gizmochina.com/2014/03/1...kat-is-available-for-mediatek-mt6589-chipset/

Has sony abandoned xperia l?

Hii, sorry i searched for a thread like this but didn't found one, so if there is a thread already existing like this i apologize for that_
I wanted to ask that has sony abandoned xperia l? so many days but still no news for an android 4.3 update, let alone 4.4_
No stable aosp roms like cyanogen or aokp.. Will it stay like this or what? Does somebody have any news?
My previous phone was samsung galaxy y, which is a low end phone but it has a hell lot of roms and even when the device is discontinued the roms are still developing_i think xperia l has potential.. Can't it support roms like cyanogen (official stable version) ? Hell even xperia m got one, which has only 4gb of internal_
If somebody have any kind of news please reply.. m sick and tired of checking the updates daily_

Xperia L Future?
Hi
I feel the same for the Xperia L, Sony hasn't given an update schedule for it, there are is no news/rumour on either 4.3 or 4.4 for the Xperia L furthermore although we are backed by official CM support the maintainer is a bit quiet in terms of progress, what makes it worse is that the phone is not that popular especially with the SP overshadowing it.
With my previous phones (Xperia X10 mini pro, Xperia X8 & Live with Walkman) the XDA forums were so full of ROMs/mods/everything you would want-they only got better for me. But with the Xperia L it all feels dead - I reckon mostly because of Sony's lack of info on updates-no one wants a phone that has no good update outlook.
I hope that Sony will update our beloved Xperia L to a stable Kit-Kat, not asking for anymore-the phone does deserve it, beautiful hardware at a nice price.
Yea

I too owned Samsung Galaxy Y. It was a very low end device but had many developments. I bought XL due to cost/performance ratio was good. Unfortunately there is so slow development
Sony has no reason to update our phone since it's a mid-range device. That's why we didn't get 4.3 or 4.4.
Sent from my C2104 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Yeah I don't think we're gonna be getting anymore updates.
There will be one more major update to our phone.. Mark my words!!
If what I hear is correct, we should get a working CM11 by the end of this week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I don't think Sony has abandoned the Xperia L just yet, honestly.
Perhaps they'll release 4.3/4.4.2 for it someday, but be honest: most people buy the flagship models with their contracts (Z, Z Ultra, Z1, Z2) so they prioritize those.
Yeah we get a very nice performance phone at a cheap price but at the cost of slow development
I checked the list of devices which sony has confirmed won't be getting any updates anymore_xperia l isn't in the list..
But it occurs to me that xperia sp and xperia m were launched with xperia l (xperia m a little after i think) but the phones have received major updates_this thought troubles me..
But we can't do nothing.. we just have to be hopeful and wait for the updates i think
Unless some superhero makes the aosp version stable for us_

well, there's no official statement from sony about dropping the support for xperia L and it's still within the 18 months cycle. So, who knows?:fingers-crossed:
can only speculate whether there will be another update or not, but it's just speculations, so . . .
no one but sony can answer "has sony abandoned xperia l?"
other roms like cm, aokp, etc has nothing to do with sony, it depends on the community :victory:
the official cm is currently in "coming soon" section in fxp :victory:
sony had supported the open resource project by giving the kitkat aosp for xperia L i guess..
eventhough it's not good enough for daily use :crying:
btw i check the updates of the development daily too

Porting a kernel? Is that even possible? Do you have any experience? Porting a newer Android version requires a lot of skill, and you'll walk into a lot of errors. My advice would be to wait for the Tamsui team to fix and release CM11! Those people know what they are doing.

If you want a 4.2.2+ rom, there is only one 4.4 rom,You may want to know that it's still in alpha version, laggy and camera not working

Sorry for late reply,
I suggest you to use PA rom made by lozohcum,it's base on cm10
PA ROM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2326477
As you tried a few custom rom,you may notice that the screen won't light up when someone dial-in, you need to press the lockscreen button twice in order to pick up the phone.
also, the illumination bar isn't working normally in cm10,you can try it first and you can disable it from setting page after you flash the rom.

Since album and movie app update a lot, google yourself "album for 4.1.2" and "movie for 4.1.2"
It's better for you to use CM10 or stock JB since the CM11 is still buggy
If you fell your phone is laggy, use vengance kernel for the stock JB 4.1.2
Here is the list of tweaks, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1947926
It works for all phone.
Hopes it help you!
