Generic Android Watch Phone question - General Questions and Answers

So, If i bought one of the $50 generic watch phone things off Amazon/eBay could i possibly use it like a SmartWatch or Pebble....i.e. use it to control my music player on my phone...get phone and text alerts from my phone etc.
I have been looking for answers to this, but since it is such a long question it's kind of hard to figure out...

Bump!
Anyone?

Just remember you get what you pay for.
Just look up the reviews and make a educated purchase.

Anyone know when theyll have this program up and running? Or are they just gonna wait till they got froyo up and running

I'm figuring they'll need it when they release their pad product.

Pad product??
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Yes they are releasing a tablet that is very similar to the Galaxy S phones, besides the screen size obviously.
Reports from samsung say late september early october. And pads are for when aunt Flow comes to town, it's called a tablet.

September's my bet. Movies will be 3 dollar rentals and 12.99 buys. Idk about TV shows.

Sprint had a demo of this running on their Epic 4G
Video here: (starts around 3:30)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ph3maKqUrCs
That is the speculation when it will be made available around the time the Epic 4G is released or pretty soon afterwards. I cannot wait because it will be kind of cool to rent and buy movies especially when you can rent them before you buy a Blu Ray version of the movie to make sure it is worth buying.
Cheers,
Charlie
Samsung Hub is a carrier independent media store (meaning ALL Galaxy S phones from across all the carriers can access the Media hub page through the App). Now that is a lot of phones. Not sure if this will spread to the international Galaxy S version (which will be even more sweet).

Anyone have LG Marquee yet?

I wanted my brother to get this phone since it would be a great upgrade from his crappy samsung transform, and could run apps meant for "high end" phones and my mom doesn't have to pay 10$ a months for 4g. So I was wondering if you have it, how do you like it?

wimpy but looks nice
not many factory bells & whistles but its decent... it'd do.

The $10 charge is not limited to 4G phones only, it applies to all "smart phones."'

Worth waiting for the skyrocket HD?

OK so coming from an iPhone I bought the galaxy s2. Didn't think of getting the skyrocket cause I don't have lte in my area. Long story short I'm really loving the phone but now I'm hearing bout this HD version. I would love to have a HD quality screen. But I like the smaller size of the s2 screen. Well I'm still in my buyers remorse stage so I'm wondering if its worth it to wait it out. Not sure how long it'll take to be released. What would u guys do?

There are so many threads on this already. search around and you'll find one.

Wait for May and buy the International version Galaxy S3...
Too soon to really say... I demand a full spec sheet before making up my mind...
You can wait for the Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE, but if you want one more week after it's released you can pick up the Samsung Galaxy S II Super HD XLE LTE. Then of course one week after that you could have the Samsung Galaxy S II.1 Super HD XLE LTE.
On a serious note, whatever you decide on, don't let buyers remorse get to when it's bypassed by a 'better' model just after you get it.
.
^ya ur right. I was gunna get the skyrocket originally but since the s2 was cheaper and we don't have lte yet I bought the s2. I'm having a hard enough time making my battery last all day in my s2. I could imagine the drain from a bigger
HD screen. Although the att guy did make a good point bout the lte. He says if I go to a place that does have lte it would be a nice feature to have. Then again I change phones like crazy. So maybe ill just wait til newer stuff comes out in summer

Who's doing Jelly Bean First?

I'm sure it will come along shortly enough, curious as to who will take the lead on this one.

They spent 900 bucks plus airfare to get to IO I don't think anyone will touch Jelly Bean until source is released in mid July. SDK ports are buggy as all get out and nothing more than proof of concept. We still won't have a fully functional ROM until LG releases ICS source. On the bright side, drivers should be able to be ported from ICS to JB, until GB to ICS.
i see Paul at modaco.com already has JB rom w/kitchen for the galaxy nexus the G2x versions will be uber gimped due to lg's inability to release the source to the dev community. reason why i sold my g2x for a gnex and haven't looked back.

I want to get an s2 but I have a problem spending around $400 for a used phone with the possibility of the IMEI being potentially locked due to the seller NOT paying the hardware payments for the device to Tmobile.

Galaxy Nexus is brand new from Google for $350 now. Plus, it'll be getting Jellybean officially in 2 weeks.

Holy ****, and that's with no contract attached? I opened the link but I didn't read all the way through it.
Someone needs to tell the idiots on craigs list to stop asking more than 350 for their used, potentially screwed over Nexus'.

I thought the Galaxy Nexus was sold on Tmobile's site, I guess not. Either way, will definitely look into this as my next phone.
I should have waited before buying my GNEX....*facepalm*

Won't the Nexus 7 suck for updates because it runs Tegra 3 by Nvidia?

nope! its a nexus brand so it will get updates first since google is handling the code/updates directly. i assume google has the source for the kernel and of course resources/connections with nvidia. whereas lg just wants to sell more phones than update older ones (prev g2x owner).
thats why i love the pure google nexus phones

I hope Google does update it. The Nexus 7 looks nice and I'm gonna try for one at Christmas

Haven't the previous Google direct Galaxy phones been outdated rather quickly? Maybe not outdated, but left behind in terms of OTA's and things like that?
I mean, people will argue the galaxy s2 is a better phone than Nexus...and now the s3 just came out! For one (only one?) of the only devices to come pre-packaged with ICS, it seems to lack certain functionality and features that carrier specific phones have.

Someone give me an idea as to why the Music features are so bad on the Nexus?

If you bought it recently, Google is doing $50 refunds.

There is a dude I work with who has the Galaxy Nexus and loves it, in person the thing is beautiful...probably one of the nicest phones I've seen, well, besides the white Galaxy s2. I have a thing for phones that are all white, super clean looking, and I hate putting cases on my phones.
I baby my g2x, I have one of the LG branded ones that isn't directly related to a carrier. At my desk, that thing never sits on the direct surface, only on a stack of post-its, haha.

I'm upgrading next month

Its been 2 years since I had my nexus. It was a great device and didnt really feel dated to me until this year. I already have my iPhone 5, so I guessim going to use this upgrade for a galaxy note 2. But my question is, what do you think would be the best successor to this device? I'm not sure if I'll even hack at this point anymore because my house now has WiFi and using my cell as a hotspot was main point.

Galaxy Note 2. Never look back...
Galaxy s4? Or htc one
Yeap note 2 no doubts

Nexus 4, the 16gb version, it's less expensive and has better suport. The one looks cool now but vhen the s4 comes it vill just ne another htc, whereas the nexus is still The Nexus!

i guess the N4 comments are from people that didn't read he has SPRINT!!! Note2 seems to be the popular one of course... send me a PM, when you're ready to upgrade... i might have a hookup for ya
Got nexus4, note 2 , galaxy tab 2 7.0, 10.0 and note 10.1, tf300t , nexus 7 and GS 2.
I say go with note 2, small enough to fit into or pocket, not bulky to play games on it, closer to handheld console than large tabs, not too small. I love the spen.
Bottom line. If I could take only one device. Note 2 would let do all that I would wanna do in both phones and tablets.
