what mistake can a person commit while trying to run a movie on a phone?
---------- Post added at 08:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:06 PM ----------
a thing i have noticed is that my phone / galaxy fit in general lags when running movies over 1GB in size.... It has happened with all my movies over 1gb...
also, the sound sometimes goes out of sync when i'm running a file in S/W Decoder.
I have used several players( including the ones mentioned above), they all have the same problem- they give epic lag or audio sync problems whenever you play high quality videos or formats like mkv, avi, wmv etc (even qqplayer).
To the guy who posted above me , video file size doesn't matter. It all depends upon the player, video quality , format ,ram and clockspeed. Use hw decoding for mp4 and 3gp files, that's better.
To the first poster how did you manage to play 720p?
Have you overclocked and are you using any ram managing apps.?

Yeah even I have a few avi files that don't play on my fit , and I certainly don't make any mistakes.

720p m4v files work but avi/mp4 don't.
also file size is usually directly proportional to quality... so what i meant to say was it lags on high quality videos.

i am using mx player, and installed vlc direct pro, and when i connect to computer it has two options to play video from mobile or pc on computer and control it or play them on mobile phone and i can chose other players than vlc direct. I tried 1080p full hd video (about 5.5 gb) and it works flawlesly, i mean there is no lag or anything, and i play it over wifi... How can this be posible?
I was testing out some MKV files, and noticed stock player cant decode ac3 or dts. I rencoded some x264 to have stereo audio and that did play in stock media player but when I used mhl mirror the video wasnt that smooth.
I have not been able to purchase the Media Link yet but it is my understanding that you can only mirror the stock media player in order to use the phone at the same time as video playing.
Anyone have the media link and have had x264 media playback success?
All I need is Dice Player. Plays all my 720p h.264 mkv movies perfectly.

Can dice player be used with media link for the video player?
The hardware decoder doesn't seem to be good. Using MX Player, not only is there no audio with AC3, the video playback isn't smooth. Everything is fine with one of the software decoders.
---------- Post added at 09:03 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:52 AM ----------
With Dice, hardware acceleration is barely able to play this .mkv. Very jerky.
With software acceleration though, what appears to be playing smooth on the phone doesnt play smooth when using MHL mirroring. So that what worries me about media link if a developer decides to make their own video player compatible using the media link api.
I wonder if mkv is just no supported natively, as unbelievable as it may be. HTC doesn't list it as a supported format in the specs.

I have had 0 issues playing MKV movies on this phone. I've managed to play 1080p mkv movies with Dice player. Even as I skip through the video, it keeps up faster than my laptop does.
Hello, guys! I've been searching about the problems I am about to describe but I found no solutions. The first and most important issue for me is video does not synchronize with audio while playing. Both in MX Player and in BSPlayer, video playback is slower then the audio, which plays normal. Video files, made with the phone's camera does not have this issue, but an WMV video I downloaded does it. The video file is about 11 MBps and 192 kbps for the audio, Sony YUV codec. It played normally while I was with the stock ROM. I can't also stream videos (and that same one) from my Dropbox cloud. The second issue is when playing games, Real Racing 3 in particular. I came to know that this issue happens with other games too. The audio of the game is extremely laggy. For both issues I will try to provide more information if needed. I will really appreciate if someone points me to a solution. Thanks in advance!

Video and audio sync problem with wmv may be because of inappropriate codec/no codec, see whether you installed codec for Mx player along with the player, and for gaming just try GL tools for the time being, but i dont think it may help with audio. There may be a problem with audio codecs in CM11 ROM.

Better you ask for help in the threadd from where you downloaded the ROM, or the thread for CM for SGS II Plus
Someone can link the apk gapps downloader?

I'm a software developer working on a network streaming solution, and I'm serving up a network stream to MX player over HTTP. The content plays fine if I save it to a file and play it locally, but if I try to play it back over an HTTP stream it always falls back to S/W mode.
S/W mode isn't going to work with a 720p stream at more than 10 Mbit/sec (H.264/AAC in an mpegts container). Any attempt to toggle over to H/W decoder always comes back with a popup that says "Cannot play this video with the H/W decoder" (with no more detailed info as to the nature of the problem).
I'm more than happy to dig through the logs (I've downloaded the MX log collector), but it would be great if you could offer any guidance on things to look for. It's entirely possible that the problem is somehow related to how I'm serving up the stream but I don't see anything obvious that would cause MX Player to fall back to SW mode.
Any suggestions on what to look for in the logs would be greatly appreciated. Alternatively, does the author offer any form of source license for commercial parties? I suspect if I could recompile the app and add some more logging I would be much more likely to isolate the underlying problem.

Me too. Im having the same problem when i try to use h/w decoder on a mkv format. Can somebody help us?
In which device you are facing the problem?
I can reproduce the same in mediatek based devices. But, the problem is not only with MX Player. I have tried other players like Dice player. It also has the same problem.
Can anyone conform the same with Qualcomm devices?

@bleu8888 could you look into both issues? (logging + commercial use)
Sometimes when i am streaming a video with subtitles, the subtitles only show the first sentence. I think its MX player can not determine the "playing time" because the progress bar is also stuck on the first second, although the video is indeed playing.
Weird hum?
