I just want to share my happiness, I tried all available ROMS available on XDA on my TF300T, including Blue V3.0 from same author, while they all run Ok, I wasn't never satisfied about the general performance, with this 4..2 ROM, there is no more Lags at all, everything is smooth and fluid, running at 1.3 Ghz. I haven't touched my Ipad 4 since I installed the greatest ROM ever. thanks petru. I just have one question, when it's going to get fixed the dock notification and the charging notification missing in current version 5?

I have tried a couple of AOSP-like ICS ROMs (HyperNonSense, Virtuous Inquisition 4.0) and I am not very happy with the performance. Pressing the back button often causes a small stutter or lag, and browsing (although fast) has lag on occasion or stutters.
It is not that the experience is 'bad', but it is not as fluid and fast as one would expect it to be from a dual-core phone with the kind of specs included within.
To give you a better idea, my Samsung Galaxy S (i9000), running the BlueLighting ROM (ICS 4.0.3) with a 'mild' OC to 1.2 GhZ runs buttery smooth, and beats my Sensation XE (ICS 4.0.3, tested at 1.2 GhZ 'underclock, 1.5 Ghz 'stock' and 1.7 Ghz 'OC') every time and in every situation: Browsing pictures, using stock browser, browsing applications, contacts, pressing the back button etc.
Why does a phone with a single-core CPU, clocked lower, and what seems to be inferior specs outperform a phone that should be doing much better?
I love AOSP experience, and I would ideally avoid any Sense-ROMs (although Sense-lite are ok, I suppose).
Can anyone tell me what their mileage is, with which ICS ROM, and whether you think there is a ROM I should try?
Thanks!
I also had the Virtous Inquisition Rom on my Sensation and i have to say it works very well.
Maybe you have to try another aosp rom like the Cyanogen mod9 from ultimate sensation,it also works very good for me
Thanks I will give it a try and let you know!
Also, can anyone suggest a good ICS kernel? I have had trouble finding a stable kernel. Some can work fine at speeds above 1.6GhZ, but some will not even boot -- perhaps they are not for ICS. I will have to look around. I am surprised there is (no offence!) little variety and option on offer in regards to kernels -- particularly for those interested in the more exotic CPU profiles.
I have also used both Hyper NonSense (1.5 currently, no longer being developed but is stable) and early Virtuous Inquisition releases. For me, both were quite fast - Hyper NonSense more so, but I haven't used a recent release of VI. In both cases, I stuck with the stock kernel distributed with the ROM.
FWIW, Hyper NonSense has also been giving me EXCELLENT battery life. It's a shame to see development stop on it.
Hey,
My TF300 FINALLY got unlocked. Seems like this means it is just a waiting game for those with the network error glitch.
Anyway, I'm looking for a good rom. I spend most of my time plugged in so it doesn't have to be lightweight... In fact I'm looking for a powerful Rom to utilize the awesome Tegra 3. Here are some attributes I hope to find in a rom and how strongly (1 to 10, 10 being absolutely must have, 1 being meh) I want them.
UI: The UI should be refined, modern, well polished, etc. I'm looking for a pretty rom. (9)
Processing and graphics Power: The rom should support overclocking, and I'm sure there are other tweaks and such that increase speed and performance. (7)
Ease of installation: I'm not afraid of a difficult install, but an easy one is a plus (4)
Speed of apps: I understand that some roms run apps, widgets, live backgrounds, etc better than others. I don't know much about this which is why i give it a middle rating. (6)
Thats all I can think of for now, any suggestions? To summarize, I'm searching for a pretty, refined ROM which can utilise the power of the Tegra 3.
Dave
P.S. I'm also curious, is it possible to run Windows 8 on an android tablet? I'm becoming increasingly frustrated at the lack of tablet-optimized apps when it comes to programming, etc. Most of them are designed with a phone in mind or simply don't meet the needs of a programmer who is used to a desktop, even with the large screen and external keyboard of the TF300.

TLR version:
aokp or baked
no win8 support
cheers
You may want to wait for a custom JB rom since Asus just released the update. If you want to go now baked bean is great.
Head over to get.cm and get the latest official release of CM10.
I also tried the Black bean ROM found in the Android Development Section. It was nice for the AOKP that I love from my phone's ROM.

Hello,
I have recently got the Xoom and flashed a JB rom as soon as I unboxed it, I have noticed 3D performance is not great on some games. Can anyone suggest a rom with good 3D performance or if it performed better in HC/ICS.
Just get TeamEOS or CM roms and overclock the XOOM. You should get better performance, keep in mind the XOOM is 2 years old now so all the games won't run smoothly.
I have installed a 4.1.2 Rom and it has made a massive difference.
i recently bought a nvidia shield k1 . i think the performance is pretty good.
what are the benefits of switching over to cm13 ?
are there any performance benefits ?
which is the best rom for this tablet ?
The NVIDIA stock ROM is pretty lightweight and has few issues. Only flash CyanogenMod if you need the extra features (like the theme engine) are willing to tolerate bugs (I had issues with memory leaks).
I tried Bliss and CM. I would have weird issues playing games. Found stock was better for gaming unfortunately. I love ROMs and flashing. I found GtrCraft's ROM here and it works very well. Nothing extra, but it is optimized a bit.

I'm a noob and I'm happy with Nvidia stock ROM. Besides, the Mediaserver bug that I recently encountered. Though, that's apparently common even with custom ROMs.
I'm currently using DirtyUnicorn ROM on my 16GB Shield (Wifi) model. I only use this ROM because of how stable and smooth it is.
I've never used the original factory ROM by Nvidia but as the recent Nougat release, I'm thinking of moving to Nouagt Original ROM. So I want to ask you guys who are using the 5.0/5.1 update on Shield Tab.
How have your experience been so far? Is it running smoothly for a light use (no gaming just media stuff)
How's the battery life compared to Marshmallow? Is it better than Xposed with Greenify+Amplify?
and above all, is there any Nvidia bloatware on original ROM and do they affect battery life?

I'll say this, I haven't rooted my k1 just yet because the dev support isn't quite want I'm used too. Before the android 7 updates I was beginning to regret my purchase (I've only had this thing maybe a month) but can now say I genuinely enjoy using my k1. I also don't game a whole lot. When I do game it's things like adventure capitalist and I can get a solid 3 1\2 hours sot. Sometimes 5 hours with no gaming. Also I never go above ~%60 screen brightness, that makes a sizable difference
I'm using 5.1 update on the Shield K1 tablet. First of all, if you're moving to Nougat, don't get the 5.0. That version has got many crashing issues and Nvidia have to withdraw the release, and they came back with 5.1.
So far, 5.1 is the smoothest stock rom on Shield tablet I've ever used. (I never root nor use any custom roms on my tablet). Android 7.0 has improved a lot. Even though you can't see directly on the surface, there are many improvements underneath (ask Google if you want to know what are those improvements).
For me, yes, it worth to move to Nougat. I'm not aware of any bloatware that hog the system. But it's always good to uninstall or disable any apps that you're not going to use.
I love the 5.1 update I have set the power plan to battery saver, and have brightness low, I gamed a lot especially GeForce now and half life 2 and borderlands 2 I get 5 hours screen on time also watching man UTD game also
Also I have set up apps I use a lot outside of games to be using 50 percent of cpu and it works fantastically
