I got my S3 a few months ago, and had ZERO problems rooting it. I just received my warranty replacement and would like root again but I keep getting this, over and over. I did a full wipe, factory reset, wipe data/cache. Re downloaded it twice. I don't know if I'm missing a step or what's going wrong.
help is greatly appreciated
In odin mode on the phone I get
" SECURE CHECK FAIL: BOOT"

If your warranty replacement came with JB pre-installed you can use this guide to root it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439. Or you can flash the pre-rooted images here which are my favorites for ease of use: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1984436. It hasn't been updated for the VRBMB1 OTA yet so if you want that you will have to use the first guide.
Thanks! That worked!

That doesn't work anymore if you have GB installed. Use my unroot zip instead. Flash it in Clockwordmod Recovery and then use the one-click NVFlash utility to restore the stock recovery.

I decided to root me Nexus S i9020a. I successfully rooted and unlocked it, then when I tried to put my backup on it did not work. So I then decided I might as well just attempt to manually update the phone to 4.1.2. I was unsuccessful with this, I could not put the 4.1.2 image onto me phone and then us CWM to install it. Now my phone will not start, it just has the Google logo displaying when I try to start it up, with the unlocked lock at the bottom. i am still able to remove the battery to turn off the phone and then put it the CWM screen. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Vol+up and flash a new ROM.

My phone was rooted through Towel Root...
All the methods that I found required me to have a SD card... which I don't... All i want is to get my phone updated to Lollipop! Also I don't want to lose my contacts and pictures, so if i need to backup these things how can i do it?
*Obs: I don't mind losing root access... I almost don't use it anyways. ..
I appreciate any help! Thanks
Hi, thank you for userid XDA Assist. The update won't work while you're rooted. Please see this,http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2528707. If you have further questions you can ask there.

Hi everyone !
As mentioned, I currently own a MDI I7 Phone with Android lollipop 5.1.
I would like to completely reset my Phone by rolling back its official ROM.
But the device being quite unpopular, I can't find the right tutorial to follow.
Beside, being a noob in the Android game doesn't help much.
So far I've tried to follow these guides :
https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-custom-rom-android/
https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-flash-install-custom-recovery/
Unfortunately I stumbled upon some troubles, especially when I tried to unlock the bootloader or to Install a custom recovery that could work on my phone.
Moreover I also tried to follow the instructions on the website where I found the ROM I would like to install, but without success
https://www.needrom.com/download/mbi-i7/
I have been stuck on step 8) with the following Error :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I feel kinda lost.
Is there somewhere a step by step guide I could use or someone who could assist me in the process ?
Hey everyone, I made a stupid decision to try and repartition without any prior knowledge and I made a really dumb mistake.
Without looking up that it was Nexus 7 thread and not Nexus 5 thread, I installed these zip files through TWRP:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Which are posted in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...on-extra-space-for-rom.3599907/#post-76278047
Due to the dumb mistake, I can no longer install system.img through ADB because I receive this error:
Is there any way that my phone can be saved?
Thanks.

You can do a new and larger repartition (or try to restore stock one) with just one simple terminal command, if you install this TWRP.
