[Issue]when using "repo init" - Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S III Developer Discussion

Good evening friends.
As the title says, I'm having an issue with using: repo init
My problem started here:
curl https://dl-ssl.google.com/dl/googlesource/git-repo/repo > ~/bin/repo
Click to collapse
I always get: Product Not Found / Access Denied in the repo file instead of the actual script. Later I was able to obtain the file manually, then got stuck here:
repo init -u git://github.com/CyanogenMod/android.git -b cm-10.1
Click to collapse
Output:
Get https://gerrit.googlesource.gom/git-repo/clone.bundle
Click to collapse
if I'm not mistaken my problem relies in the file: Repo, in line 6 it says: repo_url='https://gerrit.googlesouce.com/git-repo"
Google blocks access for my region, if any one would kindly suggest a way to go around it
So far I've tried the following steps but always failed:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7398982/fed-up-trying-to-install-android-source-behind-http-proxy
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/...nit-failed-when-trying-to-download-souce-code
I've also tried setting a proxy for terminal yet no success.
and of course I'm following this guid: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Build_for_i9300
Please note I'm asking for a VPN / proxy / way to download the source code and bypass Google restrictions to my region and not to teach me how to build from source (because I sometimes write in a way that make other understand the exact opposite of what I wanted )
Any help appreciated
Have a nice day

Thanks a lot for your help, repo is being synced right now :highfive:

Repo syncing is still failing, I cannot fetch some items from the android.googlesource.com are failing because I cannot gain access :-/

Now my issue is in" <remot name="aosp" fetch="https://android.googlesource.com" /> in the cm manifest files :-/

Tried to use this to get over the issue but still no success, when I execute: Repo sync
nothing happens, it's like it's failing to connect to the proxy :-/

Anyways I have tried several other methods and yet I fail, I suppose I will wait until I'm accepted for an account on Xda build server, I think it's the best solution since no matter what you and I try it always return in failure ...

I suggest you try using SpotFlux to make you appear in the USA ..... I can do whatever I want with it ..... It is compatible with both windows and Mac ..... Let me know what you think

Here is what I would do:
1)Rebuild your kernel without virtual terminal,
2)use/boot this kernel with android.
3) use es file explorer to find the write /dev/block/mmcblkXXX???
use this in the init script of the initrd
4) use terminal emulator and ls -la to find out the MAJOR and MINOR number
of the right /dev/block/mmcblkXXX
use/change this in the bin/MKNODE script in the initrd
-> Done

You can try step 3 and 4 also with the default android system. It is likley that it shows the same behavior.
Yea, but where is my motivation to buy a transformer, when you already have done the fun part.

i thing makedev is not even running as i dont even see the intro .( make is after intro )
think i have to dd the image to sdcard and that the kernels calls directly to init on root dev
you remember that sdcard is not mounted because of makedev , here its already working i think

and have you seen any progress at the thread? cmon the thread title says: coming soon (i assume)
dd the image to sdcard (or even better to the internal nand sometime in the future) should end up in an better performance anyway.
If the intro doesn't show up there may be a problem with the arguments of mkbootimg.
It was the following if someone else want to give it a try:
./mkbootimg --cmdline 'init=/init rw consoleblank=0 fbcon=rotate:1' --kernel zImage --ramdisk ramdisk-new.gz -o boot-new.img
Maybe you can add a the link to your zImage and to your ramdisk in the first post if someone else want to try/help.
Otherwise the link can be found in the coming soon (i assume) thread.

[Q] Considering Building a ROM

Hey everyone. I am considering making a custom ROM, in particular, one that has a custom theme to it. I was thinking of maybe making a Star Wars themed AOSP one, maybe just 4.1.2 for stability for now. I was just wondering some things. The first problem is I have no clue about developing, so I'm sorry if my assumptions are stupid.
I was wondering if developing a ROM would be like either:
A. Taking an AOSP ROM (with permission from Devs), and tweaking system files, and then making it into a ZIP again
or
B. Would I need to compile something myself and tweak system files and things from there?
Thanks in advance for your answers
You would have to do the ROM from scratch. Try using android kitchen it would help you a lot.

Yes it would be more than enough by the way I would recommend using ubuntu because it feels easier but give me a few minutes and I will provide you links om using it on Windows

I'm currently downloading Cygwin to see how tough it is to bake something up on Windows, and worst case scenario, I'll try Ubuntu
If you come across any problems while creating it I'll be happy to assist you.
By the way I would recommend extracting a tar file of the 4.1 jelly bean ota.

Best suggestion trying Ubuntu as you can dual boot it with Windows.& the instructions are easier to follow.
Boy, I'm having a field day trying to get this working xD. I install linux, open terminal to install Java (ia32 libs), and I get this:
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?
[email protected]:~
EDIT: Maybe because I'm downloading system updates is why the "other process is using it", but the problem came up before I started the update...

I'm making good progress now. I'm working on compiling AOSP, going to try CM10.1. I'm having a problem though. It won't let me download the repo. This is what happened:
[email protected]:~/Source$ repo init -u git://github.com/BeerGang/android.git -b cm-10.1
fatal: 'git' is not available
fatal: [Errno 2] No such file or directory
Please make sure git is installed and in your path.

Well right now I'm compiling "again". The first time I didn't set enough space in linux for the partition, so I ran out of space in the repo sync. I should be good now, but I think sometime I'm going to have to reinstall my old hard drive, or get a new one. Who knew a 1 TB drive could fill up so fast? xD

Somebody with a hox do
adb pull /sys/devices/virtual/graphics/fb-1/hpd
upload the file for him, then sahsu, put the file in your adb folder and
adb push nameOfFile /sys/devices/virtual/graphics/fb-1/hpd
adb reboot
Or if somebody copies the whole directory and uploads for him, Sahsu, you can use "mkdir" from a shell and then push all the files from the directory

weird, i do not have that file, tried to pull it using adb, then look in using es file explorer, all i have is fb0, not fb-1...sorry...even tried looking for "hpd"...sorry
You could push the fb directory and rename it to fb-1 while dding it to device. Speculating here but I'm guessing this happened after a screen replacement and the new display wasn't synced correctly
Is there a solution to this? I am receiving the exact same error on device wake-up.
Code:
E/qdexternal( 1081): writeHPDOption: state file '/sys/devices/virtual/graphics/fb-1/hpd' not found : ret-1 err str: No such file or directory
I don't have a "fb-1" directory in "/sys/devices/virtual/graphics/", only "fb0" and "fb1".
Using CyanogenMod nightly from 2nd july, although I have this problem with the latest nightly too.
That's HDMI. Unless you're running the 3.4 with HDMI enabled, it will show in logcat.

Download the zip from the following link and unzip anywhere. Once done unzipping, open a command window in the directory where you extracted the files

the environment variable ANDROID_PRODUCT_OUT should be set to the directory containing the binary images.

I'm not quite sure I understand what this means. Mind explaining a bit more.

He means, that you gotta open your terminal (cmd, powershell, etc.) on the directory (folder) where you saved your file (or at least be in the same folder)...
Go where your file is, shift + right clic on it and you should see an option that says open in terminal

This issue was likely caused by Google replacing the working platform-tools 34.0.1 release with a broken one. Use 33.0.3 for the time being. Thanks Strcat for helping me.
Thanks!

this is the best solution, I spent hours trying to fix the same problem and nothing worked, I changed the version as you said and it worked immediately. here is the link where I find version 33.0.3 and others. https://androidsdkmanager.azurewebsites.net/Platformtools

Thank you so much, that worked first time! I'd been trying to flash TWRP recovery on my Xperia for 2 weeks now, thinking windows 10 didn't support my phone's bootloader, when all the time it was the wrong platform tools version.

Thanks for the hint about platform-tools 34 being broken. I initially ran into the ANDROID_PRODUCT_OUT not set error and landed here via DuckDuckGo. Fixed it by setting it to the platform-tools path and was able to flash the stock ROM image I downloaded from Google to my Pixel 4a, but then it wouldn't boot. Using platform-tools 33.0.3 fixed it. Thanks a lot!

Thanx for the Skykingrgc for helping me its 100% working
Whew. I hope things are okay now with my Pixel 6. I used my new work machine which I just set up a couple of weeks ago. It looks like I installed some variety of 34.0.1 on it. I initially got the ANDROID_PRODUCT_OUT error. After setting that in the environment and re-flashing, I got some of those weird "Warning: skip copying..." messages, but everything appears to working. It booted okay, root is working fine, and all the versions of everything are reported correctly in Settings/About. I've since replaced my platform_tools with 33.0.3, but do you think there's anything I need to be concerned about? Is next month's update going to end up screwed up somehow now?
