Jelly MIUI JLM First Edition - EVO 4G Android Development

Sorry but due to issues between me and xda I will no longer have anything here on xda. I will be posting on other forums so come find me there. I refuse to be part of a forum who will not follow it's own rules and regulations.

So I have been using this ugly stock miui launcher for one reason. I heard from that the jelly bean miui really sucks some juice. These shots were after a 1 1/2 hours of almost constant use. As you can see in the pictures my signal sucks when I am inside, I am using wifi and this phone is active. At the rate I am going the battery will last about 8 hours for an 3500 mA extended battery. Now that might sound steep but under the same conditions other jb roms can be as little as 4 hours. Now for real world life I would say the average stock battery should run 8 or more hours with normal use and decent signal.
Now there are special feature in the MIUI that are not in the normal MIUI that you might want to know about. First off if you remember DND well that has changed to Firewall and for those new to this here is what it does.
You can setup multiple types of filters for calls and text
You have a white list, black list, plus anti-stranger mode (non address book block)
anti-private mode (privite numbers are filtered)
keyword spam filter. All these settings effect call, sms, and mms
Once the filters are set then you can setup a blocking schedule with a start and stop time or all day
You can also manually turn it off and on
There is built in screen capture by a toggle or keystroke combo
You can lock the screen buttons (home, menu, back, search)
There is a guard mode that requires a password to see gallery, sms, mms, call log and some other things
You also have built in 2way call recording with any kernel
You place the call click on the tools option on the dialer and you have multiple options on of which is record
It also comes with network assistant to monitor data usage
You can set a limit and then it will automatically block data usage when that limit is reached along with notifications when you are close to your limit
A built in backup program which saves all your apps/app data, settings, permissions, sms, mms, call logs the works
MIUI's superuser app call permissions managers it allows root access
but also monitors all the apps permissions such as sms, call, phone state, call monitoring, contacts, call logs, positioning (course and fine position), and phone id
You for each thing you can allow, ask, or deny access for each app
Then you have themes which unlike other roms you can mix and match parts such as
lockscreen, wallpapers, icons, status bar, boot animation, sms app, dialer, fonts
With sounds and wallpapers you can even use your own off the sd card or music player.
Oh yeah lets not forget since it is based off an miui.us build there is the miui.us toolbox
Status bar settings
center clock
hide am/pm
single bars (for non fans of having both 1x and 3x signal bars like in the old donut and cupcake days)
Custom carrier label
custom carrier logo (if you dont want a lable how about a picture)
change colors of
clock
carrier lable
signal bars
wifi icon
battery icon
or set all above to one color
also reset back to white
launcher settings (for stock launcher only)
hide status bar
hide icon text
resize widges (custom widget sizes)
There is a cpu tuner with typical features
abd over wifi
battery calibration tool
android id tool
invoke media scaner option
screen dpi
and this thing call fan-nav that i have not figured out yet
oh and this crazy desktop mode thing for the stock launcher you have to see the video of this it is weird
So talk about a feature packed rom. And if your not a fan of that ios style launcher you can just load on your favorite launcher and still get almost every feature of miui.
All this and more can now be found on a server near you!!
Peace,
Love, and
Happiness

also mine

Woot Woot!!This ones mine, nice work Jlmancuso.

Mine... and here's proof on a factory battery life.. BTW this miui ROCKS....

Gotta love good battery life on a jelly bean ROM. Hey evonoob I thought you said jb miui really sucked the battery? Maybe he should dust off his og EVO and check this out.

[MOD] [SystemUI] Enable Wifi toggle for stock TW Jelly Bean (Blue theme)

This works on stock TouchWiz Jelly Bean (tested on VRBMF1 official).
Credit goes to MAD Industries for helping me out in modding SystemUI on Jelly Bean
* Added wifi toggle
* Toggles and battery icon colored in ICS blue
* Removed brightness slider
* Removed e911 location icons
No need to flash anything, just simply drop SystemUI.apk into /system/app and set permissions to rw-r--r-- and reboot
For a fix to the 'Ongoing Wifi notification', be aware that this can not be corrected in SystemUI. Please see the xda thread posted here for a separate fix.
Awesome post! Thanks for the share.
Thanks. Seems to work well. How difficult is it for you to remove unwanted toggles and/or make the wifi/signal bars blue? And/or a return on selection, for the toggles? Perhaps only wifi, GPS, sound, screen rotation and flight mode. Black status bar??

Oo, I like the black status bar idea. I don't like the grey.
Im using this mod right now but ive made a few changes to it. Ill post it if anyone is interested. Black statusbar blue network and wifi icons. Ics blue background when you press on a notification.

brilliant... works in ES file explorer basically the same way, thanks for the tip :good:
so this worked great (thanks!) but something happened to my backup when i rebooted, so the original file now displays the battery (etc.) as blue instead of green, and everything else as the tweaked apk instead of the stock one... Any chance anyone has the stock apk that they can post? I love the wifi toggle and most of the tweaks in this apk, but I am very particular about how everything looks, so i would make a stock/custom hybrid for myself using the original and the one you created.
Anyone willing to post it for me? Thanks!
So basically you want a completely stock one with just the WiFi toggle added in. If so I can do that.

this one is actually growing on me more and more every time I look at it, but yes, I suppose I would like something very close to that. I know this isn't the right place to request anything like this, but since you asked, I may as well! :good: I don't want you to waste your time since I am probably the only person who wants something like this, so if it takes you more than like 5 minutes, don't worry about it, I appreciate the thought!
Definitely Wifi toggle (maybe instead of the screen rotation one?)
battery icon green/yellow/red instead of the blue/orange/red
the persistent wifi notification is in the build.prop, not the systemUI, right? I'm assuming that can't be changed by you?
I'm loving the blue color of the toggles by the way, excellent job on this once again!
No the WiFi notification is located in the framework and not the systemui.apk also what do you want replaced I'm a little confused. You put WiFi toggle yes and then you mentioned something about the screen rotation.

Yea, sorry for being a little vague there... I was asking if it was possible to replace the 'screen rotation' toggle with the wifi toggle, and completely do away with the rotation one. If not, no worries!
Yea that's easy. I'll work on it today for you.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the battery icon has also gone from green to blue, which seems to make sense with the blue toggles imho. That is how the original mod was first created for stock TW ICS also. I hope anyone using the mod finds it useful/easy on the eyes. I tried to keep it as close to stock as possible while making simple color changes/removing annoyances.
That is a beautiful change to the system ui. If you'd be so willing as to post it, I'd love to use it. Simply perfection for my beans.

Whoops. Was talking about this modified mod.
Hey Spearoid, I pm'd shawn12350 asking for the ui. I believe an even further updated version is in the works on his end. It's exactly what I wanted for my phone.
I'm running a 'stock' leaked jb rom and im considering going to cleanrom. I already tried flashing two different cm10s using the latest CWM, but im running into error 7. I'm looking for that nice stock jellybean, but a potential for better battery and performance not to mention extra customization intrigues me. Not to deviate but if anyone has ran into error 7, any suggestions? Perhaps twrp might help.
Anyway, these ui tweaks are awesome, I've been running dunderball's initial posting of his SystemUI for a while now. I can't wait to get a hold of shane12350's ui. Thanks for all the work and tips everyone.

[APP] Floating Unobtrusive SMS Popup

ibPopup
Floating Unobtrusive SMS Popup
Most other popups:
- Displays in the middle of the screen, blocking all other activities.
- Requires the user to close the popup to interact with other apps.
- Interrupts any other activities that are present at the time of the popup.
Floating and unobtrusive popups:
+ Does not interrupt or block existing activities when it is displayed.
+ Allows interaction with both the popup and underlying applications at the same time.
+ Floats at the top of the screen enabling users to operate other apps as if it wasn't even there.
Other features:
Reply from within popup.
Swipe to cycle through texts.
Swipe to close.
Press enter to send option.
Holo colors and design.
Ability to resize all text.
Ability to move the vertical position of popup.
Handles multiple texts from multiple people.
App Info:
.apk
I created this app using Tasker in conjuction with Tasker App Factory
I have provided a .apk file that can be installed if you enable the option "Install From Unknown Source" in system settings.
Once the app is installed, in order for certain aspects of the popup to display properly, you must first enable its accessibility setting, which can be accessed from opening the app.
.xml
I have also provided the project's .xml which can be imported into Tasker and used through Tasker, just as it would in app form.
Once imported, the project is able to be edited and customized to your needs.
By all means, make any modifications you like, BUT if you do many any edits and post it publicly, please refer back to this thread, site it appropriately and give me credit for what i have created.
How to import.
Known Bugs
*When using the "Press Enter to send" option, a new line is shown when enter is pressed, though the blank line is not actually sent in the message.*
*When two texts are received within half a second, the second text may not display correctly.*
*Screens with different resolution/dpi/size will cause the popup to have a different size/location.*
It can only handle texts from up to 5 different people.
*Unable to scroll through large texts.
*Cannot be fixed at the moment due to Tasker limitations*

Unfortunately I was unable to incorporate that into the app. Tasker is unable to set that explicitly. I did find a workaround in which after you have sent a message, i could open the default SMS app for a couple seconds, then close it again which would clear the notifications. But going through that process each time you have replied to a message would be messy and could cause more problems.

the accessibility option enables the app to see when a window change has been made. I used this to have it properly show and hide the composing window and change the message icon to a send icon. It was the only way i could determine if the user had pressed the back button to close the compose window which tasker cannot monitor, but it CAN monitor if the window has been changed.
In tasker this is demonstrated by the "Compose Off" profile which uses the event "New Window * Any"
As far as i know that is the only reason it needs the accessibility option. You can turn it off and test if there are any other effects besides using the back soft-key on the compose window.

[APP][4.1+] Notifyer Unread Count

Notification Access
Notifyer is now able to use Android's Notification Listener Service (Android 4.4+) to provide a more accurate unread count for the majority of apps. Choose between Notification Access or Accessibility in the count behaviour options for each widget. Accessibility may still work better for certain apps.
Beta Testing
Notification access is now available in the beta channel and provides a much enhanced experience. Any help to test out this crucial new feature will allow me to get it released and then to move on to some nice new features and improvements! Notifyer now also uses Material theming and provides better adjustment options to correctly align Notifyer widgets.
PM me if you're interested in beta testing.
Thanks

Notifyer
Hi everyone, here's my app Notifyer. Provides a notification bubble over your app icons like on iOS.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.uk.cornwall_solutions.notifyer
Notifyer runs as a Notification Listener Service and/or as an Accessibility Service, you just replace your regular app icons with 1x1 Notifyer widgets and then choose which app to monitor. Settings are provided to adjust for alignment, size etc to blend in with your launcher.
Cheers guys, let me know what you think.

If I tried to unlock the phone it would reboot. Instead, I had to use the pull down to unlock and remove the app. After that my phone is fine.

Oh man I havent heard of either of these problems before. But that's good I want to get everything sorted.
The widget should just show up in your widget list as normal, I've attached a pic of what it looks like on my phone but it will vary depending on your phone and launcher. If it's not there then maybe restart the phone and if that doesnt work then uninstall and reinstall.
As for the boot loop I have no idea what could be causing that. Do you have any other accessibility services enabled besides Notifyer?

They should just occupy a single square in the grid on your homescreen the same as a regular icon. If you open Notifyer and go into the settings then you can play around with the icon size, text size and a few other things to get it looking how you want it.

Hi*İ am using cm 10.2 (4.3.1) ..my phone galaxy s2..
"Phone" app does not show notifications badge..other* app is working.. (Sms,whatsapp, twitter etc)
Other problem "widgets" do not "fit the dock" menu cm 10.2
I bought the app, but I returned ..
I expect to resolve the problem.
Thanks
App title cut of with Nova
Hi,
I am using Nova Launcher on a Samsung Galaxy S2 with android 4.3 (SuperNexus 3.0). With Nova settings I changed the desktop raster to 6 rows, 5 columns.
With this settings, the name below the icon is not completely visible. Look at the screenshot to the "NOS Teletekst" app.
The first icon is a "normal" shortcut, the second a Notifyer widget with size 1X1, the third a Notifyer widget with size 1x2.
I hope you can fix it. Now I have to set the icon size to 90% to keep the app name, but then the icons are smaller than the standard icons.
Edit: adding a screenshot is not allowed. I have not posted enough until now.
Is there a moderator who can help me?

Hi Vlad, thanks for purchasing Notifyer. I have just emailed you with a solution that I think will work. Here it is for the benefit of everyone else too.
To fix this problem you need to open the Notifyer+ app, then click on your Phone widget, then click Alternate App Notifications. Here you will see a list of all the apps on your phone including some system apps. You need to look down this list until you see an item in the list where the second line of text says "com.android.phone". There will be several system apps that have this as the second line of text, it doesn't matter which one you select.
This problem came up in one of the recent Android updates and I haven't had the chance to update the app to fix it yet. But luckily the Alternate App Notifications setting can be used to work around it. I think they must have changed one of the package names relating to the contacts app which has a knock on effect with Notifyer and the way it maps missed calls to your Notifyer widgets.
Hope that helps, Cheers!

Hi Callum, good question and it's something I've looked into in quite some depth. The main problem is that the notification listener service is good for displaying individual notifications, but it doesn't particularly lend itself to counting notifications.
Think of a messaging app like Whatsapp for example. When you receive a new message the notification listener will tell you. When you receive a second message without having read the first one Whatsapp will replace its existing notification with one that tells you that you have two unread notifications but there is still only one active notification. Notifyer doesn't actually know how many messages are there, it can't read the notification and it cant see into Whatsapp to find out, but it can count each time a notification arrives. Now imagine that you go into Whatsapp and read one of your two new messages. Now Whatsapp will update its existing notification to say that you have one new message. Notifyer can see that the notification has been modified but the problem is that Notifyer doesn't know how much the count should go down by (how many messages you actually opened). At the moment it just works by resetting the count to zero whenever you close down that particular app, which is possible with accessibility services but not the notification listener (accessibility services can see other things than notifications such as what app is currently occupying the screen).
That's just one example but bear in mind that in top of that, different Android apps work in massively different ways when it comes to notifications and unfortunately the notification listener service just does provide all information needed for Notifyer to figure an accurate count.
Hope that explains it, I know it seems crazy not to be using it for an app like this and I was slightly disappointed when I realised that it wasn't going to work.
Cheers,
Tom

[APP][TUT] Google Dialer in Moto X

GOOGLE DIALER
Google's Dialer With Built-in Search Is Exclusive To Nexus And GPE Devices, But You Can Install It Manually On Other KitKat ROMs
DO AT YOUR OWN RISK! THE XDA-DEVELOPERS FORUM AND I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO YOUR PHONE!
Of all the announced*new features of the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4/KiKat, one of the cooler ones was a new dialer colloquially known as the "KitKat dialer." It features a revamped UI and includes the ability to search for businesses, contacts, etc. right from inside the dialer. It also features*internet-based caller ID. The name "KitKat dialer," however, is not entirely accurate.
Background:
Google Dialer (its official name) is not technically part of KitKat because it is not included in AOSP. It is a closed-source alternative to the regular AOSP dialer, much in the way that Google Play Music replaces the AOSP music app and Chrome replaces the AOSP browser. The name "KitKat dialer" refers to the fact that Google launched it on the Nexus 5, which was KitKat's launch device.

Unlike one of the other new apps introduced alongside KitKat, the Google Experience Launcher -*which is a Nexus 5 exclusive*- Google actually saw fit to release its revamped dialer application to other Nexus and Google Play Edition phones. Unfortunately, outside of that universe the dialer is unavailable, at least officially. At some time down the road, Google could easily decide to offer it through the Play Store but there's no indication of that happening in the foreseeable future. Until that day arrives, you can install it manually.
Installation Procedure:
Before beginning, you must be rooted and running either an official or custom KitKat ROM on your phone. Google Dialer will not install on any version of Android prior to 4.4.
Download either the APK file or the flashable ZIP file using the links at the bottom of this post. The APK was pulled directly from a Nexus 5 running Android 4.4.2.Flash the ZIP file in a custom recovery, or copy the APK file directly into /system/priv-app.If you opted to move the APK file manually, you'll need to set the permissions on the APK to 644 after moving it into its proper folder. Do this either through your file manager app or via a shell.Reboot your phone.
Possible Problems And Questions:
During tests on various phones and settings, found some issues that are worth mentioning, and some questions that some of you will probably have.
Can this be installed without root?
This question can only be answered with another question. Do you want to be able to make calls? While yes, the app can be installed without root, it requires permissions that are only available to apps that are signed with a platform key or installed in /system/priv-app. What that means in practical terms is that if you install the app without root, the actual searching function will work, but you will not be able to make calls.
I installed the app but the icon doesn't show up in my app. What can I do?
If this happens on your phone, the only solution we found was to use Nova Launcher because it has a feature that allows you to run a specific activity within an app. To set this up:
01-Within Nova Launcher, long-press on the home screen.
02-Choose "Shortcuts"
03-Select "Activities"
04-Find "Google Dialer" in the list, then tap to open it up, and select "Phone" (use the first one in the list)
This will put a shortcut to the dialer on your home screen. At this stage, you can use this to access Google Dialer. It's not the cleanest solution, but it does work.
Can I disable my default dialer?
The short answer is no. As a general rule, you will need to keep your present dialer enabled in order to receive calls. The long answer is that on some phones you might be able to disable your stock dialer, but on others you definitely cannot. Feel free to try it on your own device and let us know what your results are.
Download:
Here are both a flashable ZIP file as well as the lone APK file. If you want to flash in recovery, use the ZIP file. If old-school is more your thing, download the APK and put it in /system/priv-app manually.

Xposed / Gravity Box (KK) is able to do that.
I have my status bar in a nice green-themed color, and I just LOVE having network upload/download speeds in the status bar itself....
Good Luck
So if your leaving the original dialer in place this means incoming calls will not get the benefit of the google dialer caller id... correct?

NO NO didnt mean to sound like I was complaining was simply trying to outline what it could and could not do in this configuration. The search feature that lets you find local places in the dialer works great and getting rid of that ugly themed 443 dialer are huge plusses all by themselves

Good Lock app.

This works for the Verizon S7 and edge. I like it because it allows my notification bar to look 'google', allows me to hide notifications in folders, and I think I can get used to the Lock screen lol.
You can change the color palette in the app by changing the default routine.

Nope. This is why I uninstalled it.
I uninstalled the app. I checked battery stats one morning and the app had consumed almost 0.8 hour of my 2 hours on-screen time. Also, the day before, the app consumed around 19% of my full day's usage.
That's way too much for an app. I'd hate to see that kind of usage if Samsung actually integrates this into its future UI. They need to majorly optimize it.

I think misunderstand that this is being reported separate from the "catch-all" of system in battery stats. If this was completely integrated it wouldn't show up in battery stats at all. Mine uses a fraction of the battery apps like imgur and snapchat do. I'm very happy with it honestly

nice think
I use this with the latest update but I absolutely hate the choice of lock screen swipe animation choices. Of course I have it set to off, but still. And not entirely convinced about the task manager. The choice of colors is nice but still very limited for fine tuning. You can't get a google like grey color for instance for the pull down menu and the apps on the lock screen are kind of clunky. But I'm keeping it for now... Seems to need manual updates so far though...

There are a lot of issues with it. For one my 4G LTE now shows only 4G. You can't change the wallpaper to your liking, the font and icons don't match your theme icon packs from Samsung. There's a couple more, to me this thing is in Alpha stage..

I've changed both my lockscreen and homescreen wallpapers, in settings>display>wallpapers.
I hate 4G LTE crap, 4G is LTE, HSPDA is 3.5G at best, and Verizon doesn't have 3.5G anyway.
I use dark material theme, and it still applies everywhere but the notification bar.
If it doesn't work for you that's fine, but I live it. Right now only thing I really would like is a true dark theme for the notification bar (dark background with white text) but Samsung has said hi-weekly updates are scheduled so I'm hopeful.

I tried GoodLock so I can get the stock "multi-task" windows, but uninstalled it because it was using too much battery power. Why does it has such high battery usage?
Also, it looks awkward with the TouchWiz menus. It feels like as if I'm using NovaLauncher on TouchWiz.
