[Q] Stuck at "Fastboot USB Download Protocol" - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm not yet ready start to flash my TF300TL, but today I try to access bootloader menu (Restart and press hold volume down + ON button).
and i accidentally choose (volume down) and chose the "USB icon" and ENTER (volume up), and now my device keep showing "Fastboot USB Download Protocol".
How to cancel this? If not mistaken, need run one command from PC after plug in the USB cable.
Is that anyway to cancel it without using command from pc?
I really newbie and do not know how to cancel, please guide me step by step, thanks in advance.

Well, i'm planning to root for my new unit TF300TL (4G/LTE), until now I still do not understand and how to start it.
Can anyone point me a direction step by step how to root / unlock for my device so that I can flash it with CleanRom?
Really appreciate if got a simple step by step before I can flash it.
and I'm totally do not know what is fastboot, bootloader, CWM and TWRP, anyone can guide me?
If without anything now, can i just download the ROM and flash it directly?
or I need to unlock something or install something before can flash it?

You need to install ADB platform tools (search the forum for it) and proper drivers (I used Universal Naked Driver), then follow the directions in this thread. The driver will enable Windows to "see" your device as fastboot, and the platform tools will allow you to issue ADB commands from within its folder. You need to also put your tab in fastboot mode (if you have custom recoveries such as CWM ot TWRP) by going to recovery menu and select the USB icon.
Note: once in cmd admin mode, you must first navigate to the platform-tools folder, wherever it is located. Ex: cd C:\platform-tools\ assuming that your PT folder is in drive C on your PC.

That's perfect and details guide, thank you very much and appreciate.
Well, i just notice that CleanROM seem like cannot work on my TF300TL, which is 3G/4G/LTE model, once installed, the 3G cannot work anymore. Sigh...
anyway, thanks for your tips and guide here. :good:

Nexus s problem while unlocking bootloader

I was unlocking the bootloader so i could root the phone. I was successful but now my phone is stuck on the google screen with the unlocked pad at the bottom.
Through the forum i found that i'm missing the boot image so i found that.
I pulled in my phone to the computer and typed "fastboot flash boot test_boot.img". it comes up with "error: cannot load test_boot"
The same thing happened when i tried to "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" aswell to try and fix it that way but the same error came up.
I made sure the file names were correct.
Please help!!

do you have the proper drivers installed? if not, go directly to PdaNets website http://junefabrics.com/android/ and have it install the proper drivers onto your computer. this way is by far the easiest way to install the drivers. download and install the free program then just follow the directions on the screen.

take a screenshot of your /sdk/tools folder.
(seriously do it).
OR if you don't want to.. does fastboot appear as "fastboot" or "fastboot.exe" ?

Okay, yeah. I see the problem, your extensions are hidden "recovery.img" is actually "recovery.img.img" so you're fastbooting a invalid file. What I want you to do is on the top left of a Windows explorer, it says Organize. Press that and go to folder options -> view -> hide extensions for known file types (UNCHECK THIS). Rename recovery.img.img so it appears as recovery.img not recovery.img.img
Put your phone in bootloader mode if it isn't already with USB plugged in.
The phone needs to be in bootloader mode in order for it to recognize the fastboot command.

yeah that meant it worked. you can access clockwork menu by going down to RECOVERY in the menu or "adb reboot recovery"
you install a ROM by...
1. Shop around the Dev forums and look for what ROM you want to use. I personally use CM7.
2. Use netarchy's kernel (its worth it).
Steps:
1. Put ROM onto your sdcard
2. Boot into Clockwork Recovery (told you above on how to do it)
3. Wipe Factory, Dalvik, Cache
4. Flash ROM (Proceed to flash CM7 Gapps afterwards if you decide to go with CM7)
5. Flash Kernel (Optional)
6. Reboot!
Ahhh, i updated without looking at your post first. Can i put the kernal on now that ive rebooted?
thank you for your help and time

you have to run the root.bat file, you cannot dir the boot.img
I know I have to run the bat file but you asked me a screen of the folder
I have this message:
strange... idunno for me its working well (windows 7 pro) and the boot.img is in the same directory... do you have some antivirus, anti spam apps running?
A other member of Frandroid forum has exactly the same issue. But he is running W8.1
That is really strange.
I am running win 8.1 as well
POThe only thing I can suggest is to change the line
fastboot -i 0x1bbb boot boot.img
to (in your specific case)
c:\users\user\desktop\idol3_6045_root\fastboot -i 0x1bbb boot c:\users\user\desktop\idol3_6045_root\boot.img
and see what occurs.
I'm thinking you may have fastboot somewhere else on your computer as well and that somehow, it's looking in the local directory of that fastboot. While that goes against everything logical (local directory should always be checked first), I'd give that a shot.
If that still doesn't work, open the cmd.exe with elevated permissions (right click "command prompt" in start menu, and run as administrator)
The problem seems to be resolved by using Windows 7 instead.
http://forum.frandroid.com/topic/223905-tuto-root-de-l-idol-3-55/?p=3417628
using win 7 is not a solution... there have to be a way how to do it, because there are thousands of users with win 8.1 who using fastboot and adb commands...
Is it a drivers issue? Does "adb devices" return anything? Or "fastboot devices" if you're in the bootloader? If you don't get a device listed after executing that command, the OS isn't fully recognizing the Icon 3.
I've all but abandoned using Windows for interaction with my Android devices. The driver issues are too big a pain in the butt. With Mac, and no need for installing drivers, the only issue is the occasional usb cable that doesn't work well. I don't mean that as a Mac is better than Windows thing. I use both and am not into these kinds of battles. But it is easier on Mac in this case.
OP, have you tried this with a different USB cable?
is your bootloader unlocked?
And I take it you've enabled Developer Options and USB Debugging?
After all my talk about the ease of communicating with Android devices from a Mac, I'm now unable to successfully issue fastboot commands when in the bootloader. I've tried using sudo, making sure to include arguments that address the device, etc. I can execute adb commands when the phone's system is booted, though. But fastboot commands either get me a "waiting for device" or nothing at all. I thought I was able to do this successfully yesterday, when I was just testing it out. Today, I was going to root by booting into TWRP and flashing SuperSU.

Well, you need ADB and Fastboot driver. More Information and download link for ADB and Fastboot set up is in the link
Here is driver for windows.
Now for Installation of the driver follow the steps below:
1. Extract the Downloaded file in desktop
2. Go to extracted folder and (Windows_XP_VISTA_7_8_8.1 -> Android)
3. Right, click on the file (android_winusb.inf) and press on install.
Now we need to set mobile. Follow the steps below:
1. Switch off Mobile
2. Press And hold Power Button + Vol Down button Same time and leave the button as soon as you see Asus logo in display of the phone.
Now You are on recovery mode. Use Volume buttons to move up and down and power button for select. Now press volume down button and select " Apply Update from ADB". Now we have done all the setup. It's time to Sideload.
Sideload Procedure:
You must have the firmware of your phone to sideload.
Click Here to visit Asus Official website to download Firmware. ( Choose OS= Android -> Firmware). After Downloading the proper firmware place it on the desktop, we need to flash the phone. Please, Double check all the steps I have described Above to ignore problems.
Now connect the phone to computer. Hold Shift and Right click on any blank area on desktop then choose "" Open Command window here"

Then a command window will pop up. Now we need to check whether our phone properly connected to PC and ready to flash or not.
so type the following command in the command window. = "adb devices". After that, you can your phone serial number connected to it. If you can see the serial number then yo are ready to go.
Now type this command = adb sideload filename.zip (EG: adb sideload UL-Z00L-WW-1.15.40.639-user.zip)
NOTE: The firmware file you have downloaded must be placed on the desktop.
Then you will see a loading file .. Wait for few minutes and then it will start serving.
Wait guys its take some time. After 50% complete in Command window just look at your phone and you will see come changes like this.
Now wait for some time and then your phone will say that " Installation from ADB sideload completed"
Now choose reboot the device and your phone will get rebooted.
Btw, read carefully this thread. It may help.

Flashing for beginners!

Hi Guys,
I hope I'm in the right place here !? if not, I apologize, I'm new here
so, after finally unlocking the bootloader, I plan to change my Poco x3 (MIUI Global 12.0.7) to RR 10. In the past I have already changed Rome to LineageOS 10 on my old Leeco Le Pro 3. Now, after browsing the forum, I am very confused! how many things there are to consider! (I bricked my Leeco through a wrong TWRP installation, so I'm very careful). Decrypt (?), Clean / dirty Flash etc. were never an issue back then. Does anyone of you have a simple step-by-step description suitable for beginners of what should / must be observed (preferably in German)! Many thanks in advance!
H0rdak
Start here: https://telegra.ph/How-to-install-Poco-x3-ROM-10-14
Hi Pnin, thanks for the quick help! One question: what do you recommend for the first flash: clean or dirty?! Thx H0rdak
First must always be clean; dirty is only for updates (and sometimes, not even then).

Outdated. There is no need to boot to system after flashing ROM. Reboot to Recovery -> Flash Magisk & Gapps THEN reboot to system.
What about on Pixel 5. I want to flash ProtonAOSP And it says just flash as if you would the stock image, bc there is no TWRP for GP5. So does that mean I just use the flash-all command or fastboot boot ProtonAOSP.zip file? I'm confused as a motherF
hello people, thank you very much for the quick help! here you really get help! after pnin's execution, a few more questions have arisen:
1. is it really necessary to install gapps?
2. why orangefox and not TWRP? In the RR thread, twrp is recommended ?!
3. Which recovery is the most suitable (3.4.0-15 or 3.5.0-0 ???) - what are your experiences?
4. Is a special decrypt program necessary (in some youtube tutorials such a program is used)
1. Optional
2. Your call: OF appears to be a more polished product for the PX3 (some people reported isues with TWRP)
3. ...
4. ?
Thank you guys, and special thanks to Pnin! I have now decided to use OF as a recovery! Unfortunately the whole thing is a bit more difficult than I thought it would be. The problem: my pc doesn't recognize the phone! When I enter the adb command "adb devices", the x3 is not displayed ?! Any ideas?! Thanks in advance!!
drivers, drivers, drivers, check your device manager in windows, if there is an unrecognized device while your phone is connected to pc/notebook, that's the problem you need to solve
thanks jeryll, I feel a little stupid right now because I can't do it! there are dozens of sites offering drivers for the poco (i don't want to post any here). do you or someone have a link ?! it is a simple exe file right? !! sorry i'm a bit ashamed but i really have problems with that!

if you see yellow triangle somewhere after you connect your phone and it was not there before, that means you don't have installed correct drivers
I need to know if you have installed recovery already, if not, you can not install it via adb, only via fastboot mode and your phone must be switched to fastboot mode (restart your phone and before it show initial screen hold volume down button until you see picture bellow)
with this on your phone screen connect your phone to your PC/notebook and check your device manager and look for devices with yellow triangle, if you see one you need to install correct driver for your device (for example try to start mipcsuite it *should* react and try to install correct drivers)
if you don't have yellow triangle in device manager try to type in cmd window
Code:
fastboot devices
if your phone is recognized you will see something like this
then you can continue with flashing orange fox recovery (download flashable zip with ofox recovery and extract recovery.img preferable to directory with fastboot app installed)
in cmd window type
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot boot recovery recovery.img
if everything goes well after reboot you should be in orangefox recovery
WOW! this detailed description really helps me !!!! First of all: No, I haven't installed any recovery yet, I thought that could only be done via adb! Unfortunately, as you have described well, I see an orange triangle.
I have installed this mi-suite program but I cannot access the phone there either - it tells me that I have not installed any drivers, but does not give me the opportunity to do so ;-(
thx for your help greetings

calm down, and choose Reboot (don't select Wipe data it will factory reset your device and you will loose eveything on your internal storage)
Pfewww .... everything is okay now Phone boots normally! Thx jeryll! no idea how that could happen. had a little flashback like with my Leeco; - /!
Okay, I think it depends on the drivers. All the pages I've looked at, however, only offer me strange drivers (like "POCO x3 Quallcomm driver" or things like that). Xiaomi's homepage doesn't offer any drivers at all - at least I can't find any there!
Jeryll, can you tell me what these drivers are called and where you can get them from? Many, many thanks in advance H0rdak
try this (untested, but looks legit)

I have the stock ROM on USB now, but hè will not install it. When i press the home and enter button and plug the power cable. Hè start up with the MI logo and shuts down, then start up with no screen.
Are there other ways to install the stock ROM?
AFAIK the Stock ROM typically gets installed by means of ADB Sideload method:
Code:
adb devices
adb reboot sideload
adb sideload <FULL-PATH-TO-STOCK-ROM-ZIP-FILE-ON-PC-HERE>

The USB-stick, once plugged into Windows computer, in Windows OS is recognized as a drive: note down this drive letter returned. Then sequentially run the ADB commands listed above.

My drive letter is :e
Didn't think it can be so difficult.
Assumed the Stock ROM's file is located in root of E: drive then the ADB command in your case becomes
Code:
adb sideload E:\<NAME-OF-STOCK-ROM-ZIP-FILE>
where you have to substitute
<NAME-OF-STOCK-ROM-ZIP-FILE>
by ROM's true file name

ah ok. lets try.
It seems not so difficult but, for the first time is everything more difficult
What do i wrong. sorry! I do really my best
1, i have a format 16gb usb FAT32
2. i have install ADB installer.
3. i have download the stock rom (see picture)
4. my drive name is e:
5. When i zip my stock rom file, i got an another zip file, and an file of 1kb
in the next picture is what i do in CMD
anglee_full_9.0.0.1911 is my zipped stock rom downloadfile
the other 2 are the unzipped files from the first file
1st screenshot provided above shows
1. Device isn't connected via USB-cable with PC or, if, not powered on
2. The ROM's archive name you entered is without fileextension -> required :ZIP
If ROM's archive is packed as .RAR file then you have it to repack to .ZIP file
I think it will not gonna help.
When i connect my projector to the pc, the pc dont recognize him.
What i try, nothing works.
but thanks for your help anyway
