First time posting, long time reading. So I had bought my kids a samsung galaxy tab 2 7 for Christmas and have finally decided to root one of them. I followed the noob guide at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788625 and everything went fine, except for the fact that I cannot install Int2ext. I am just wondering if it is something I did wrong in the root, or maybe just a limitation of the root itself? I would really appreciate any help with this.
Thanks
Try link to SD, it serves the same purpose.

I have tried link2sd and droidsailapp2sd and nothing is working. I did find this link about the need to run a script in order to swap internal/external memory.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961097
I'm not sure whether that information is still relevant or if there is something newer that I'm missing, but I'll give it a try and see if it works. Thanks for you help.

Ive searched and read and searched some more. Learned a lot about how to root and the best methods. But what I cant find is the answer to my specific question. I have a new Galaxy S2 skyrocket on at&t running the latest 2.3.6. If I were to root it using the guide on this site, will I lose all my contacts, pica, apps, and settings? Contacts and pics I'm not so worried about because I can back them up to my Pc. But since this is my first android phone (after 4yrs of iphones), it took me about 2 weeks of messing with the settings and notifications and sms apps and so on to get it just how I like it. I'm affraid if I wipe all that by rooting it then ill never be able get it back. Most of the stuff I just figured out by tinkering and trying new stuff till I got what I liked.
Anyway, if anyone can answer that question or point me in the right direction to a rooting process that wont cause me to lose all my stuff, id greatly appreciate it.

There is a sticky at the top of the general forums section that will explain it all. How to root 2.3.6 and all that. And no you will not lose data. Is there a particular reason why you wish to root?
This should be for 2.3.6. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526

Just wanted to remove (or freeze) some of the bloatware. And maybe down the road as I get more comfortable with all this I may try custom roms and things like that. I can jailbreak an Iphone with my eyes closed and had mine customized every which way. This android stuff is awesome but very complicated compared to ios.
I did read the sticky but didn't see anywhere that it answered my specific question about losing settings and such. Today is the first time I've had access to a pc all week and was doing all the searching\reading on my phone. If its in there I must have over looked it.
What baseband are you on? You can find this under settings>about phone. Once you are rooted, titanium backup ( which you find in Play Store) will be your best friend for app back up and restore. It would also be advisable to also flash a version Clockwork mod recovery and make up a backup to restore just in case you soft brick for whatever reason.

I just did this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526
Actually very easy. Went smooth and I'm now rooted with superuser installed. Now I just need to learn what steps to do next to get the most out of this beast.
Baseband is I727UCLA3 by the way. If you've got any more tips I'll take all the info I can get
Next time search before posting please. Make it a habit.

Actually, as stated in my original post, I did search. I couldn't find the answer to my specific question about losing data and settings and having to start from scratch. Occupational_Hazzard was kind enough to give me the info thati needed. Then I felt comfortable proceeding with the root process.
If I violated the agreement in some way by asking a question on a forum because I wasn't able to find the answer, then by all means delete my account.
And to Occupational_Hazzard, thank you very much for helping out someone who is trying to learn by replying with useful information. Greatly appreciated

Now that you are rooted, I would highly recommend flashing the ClockWorkMod Recovery so you can possibly flash a custom rom in the future, which are usually rooted from the get-go. You need to make a back-up so you can restore to a previous date just in case you accidentally goof something. BTW congrats on the first root of a droid and I am glad to help you.
Did that and installed titanium backup. Was actually scared to death to try it but so far so good! Now I gotta just figure out how all this stuff works one step at a time
Thanks again!

Maybe someone else can chime in, but I usually just backup the user installed apps and data, wifi access points, and so forth. Also you can set the filter to at the top of list things to backup/restore.
Ill work on it some later tonight. By son just woke up from his nap and he doesn't allow for much phone tinkering time at only 15 months old.

For future reference turn google sync on for contacts and that's done... And there is an app called sms backup for sms... What else did you need that titanium doesn't get?
CM9 Skyrocket
Titanium pretty much covers it. I was just worried id lose everything in the rooting process before I was able to use titanium. Its all under control now. Didn't lose a thing and its all backed up

--;..you should have read that we have a questions forum for questions..
I accidentally in my samsung galaxy gt-i9070 with root idiot browser because system folder deleted. Can it start no longer is but also clearly because Yes the system is away. So far I need I now a rom if I lie correctly on each if I need help so I the handy again in gang wars thank you times in advance.
First of all, I sympathize with your sufferings which tell us NEVER accidentally delete anything using root explorer. Secondly, I think you should search for a ROM yourself in this big forum cuz only you are fully acquainted with what your phone needs. If you can neither find a ROM nor find a person to give you a ROM, you'd better go to ask those who sold you the phone for help and it won't take you too much time or money, considering it isn't a hardware damage at all. Thanks.

So I understand correctly I need a rom? If yes you can because link post währe very great of dier thousand thanks.
help me
could someone please help me because I would hate that it ends up in the garbage, and I buy a new. Please please help me!
check this post it will help you to install firmware http://www.teamandroid.com/2012/06/...-to-android-2-3-6-xxle2-gingerbread-firmware/
So you where rooted... Than in your download folder you'll still find some rooted things, so your warenty is void. You SHOULDN'T go to the ones who sold you the phone cause they'll find out! I suggest you find the stock rom and root after you reinstalled it. Can you flash your phone correctly?

I have recently purchased a new i815 Galaxy Tab 7.7 from Verizon. I haven't owned one of these before and rooting this thing seems to be giving me the most trouble I have ever gotten before. I have done quite a few hours with Google trying to research this with no success. It has the 4.0.4 software on it now. What I have found on the forums is where you had to download a .zip file and apply it as an update. I tried that several times (and tried re-downloading it as well) and I get a signature verification error or something similar to that. There is no other way I have found to root it. I couldn't seem to find a clear answer from the one topic that talked about it because everybody kept flying off topic like no tomorrow. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
I'm pretty sure you'll need to install CWM first and then either flash a prepared ZIP or adb push the files you need over. I used instructions from here to re-root my i815 when I upgraded to LP11:

Yes you were right. I couldnt figure out how to install cwm. Theres no detailed instructions i could find.

So i had to root and install Titanium backup on my s2 and the grilfriends s3. Need to clear som space by moving apps to sd card. This now works like a charm(again) on my s2 but the option isnt even there on the s3?
Am i missing someting here? After hours of googling and serching this forum i still cant find anyone else with this problem.
I can backup to the sd card.
Is there something that needs to be activated? I got that annoying feeling that i'm missing something obvious.

Hi all,
I don't know whether I'm posting my question in the correct forum or not.
My Phone is SCH I-535. Accidentally, I upgraded to 4.3.
I have rooted and downloaded rootchecker from play store and it is rooted successfully.
Basically, I did a big blunder last time, by flashing a wrong ROM altogether. Flashed the International Version ROM and it hard bricked, and it was a mess. I could not use my phone for almost 6 months since, I did not have time to work on this. So now, I got the phone up and running and I did not know that, I should not accept the 4.3 update. So I did accept and now I'm on 4.3 and rooted.
Basically, I have 3 requirements.
1. Get a clean, fast, simple ROM, which has only essential Apps and no bloatware - CAN ANYONE SUGGEST ANY ROM-SCH-I535,4.3,ROOTED
2. Get the HotSpot feature working - I downloaded foxfi, and it is working fine. But if the stock Hotspot feature works, then it will be great. I don't like many Apps in my phone. I feel they make it a bit slow. I want my phone to be as fast as possible.
3. Increase the Brightness of my screen. I read somewhere about the kernel modification or something. I tried to do that last time and I messed it up badly.
So, I did not want to do anything stupid this time and I'm posting here.
I have read different threads and there is a lot of information, and that's how, I was able to root this 4.3 SCH I-535. But I don't want to do anything on my own, with out expert advice. So I'm posting here.
Any help is highly appreciated. Thank You.
1. Lots of great roms available, take a look at all of them and see what looks interesting. Every rom will be experienced differently by everybody, so your best option here is to systematically try them out until you find a good one that runs like you need it to. Remember you need safestrap in order to do this and the rom can only be 4.3 TouchWiz.
2. I think there's a wifi hack somewhere that will remove the Verizon prompt completely. Not sure where to find it though, might not be s3 specific.
3. Increasing the brightness may not be possible. If there is a way, then an xposed module might be able to do it. Take a look at all of them and see if something allows you to modify that.
