Hey guys I have got a question for you. I want to buy a new phone and I saw this HTC butterfly. But the battery is not removable and I think I gonna flash a ROM on it. But if I brick my device I can't power off it by removing the battery. My question is how can I repair my phone if I brick it. And I am used the search button, and the guys said there's only one way to fix it and this is the fastboot. But I am a Sony user and there is flash mode on this phone too?
On non removable batteries HTC, stay push on the power button do the same thing as remove and re-install the battery.
It restarts and you can enter bootloader mode
This is working if I got bootloop? And with the HTC phones I can just simply unlock my boot loader, not like with the Sony phones? And with the HTC phones there aren't sim card lock or something?
Backup

Follow the threads in the Android Development and Flash Recovery. Read the instructions carefully on how to ROOT your phone.
Then do a Nandroid Backup. Again follow instructions.
I soft-bricked my phone while installing a ROM but recovered from a Nandroid Backup.
ALWAYS read and follow the instructions!!
Cheers
Aussie

Hello I rooted my Inspire last Feb. I have installed several Rom's. Today I picked up a new phone for myself, HTC Vivid and was going to give the Inspire to my wife. Just didn't want her to be able to see all the different stuff I had on the Inspire. To make a long story short, I had a brain fart and without thinking went into factory reset and reset my rooted phone (I know dumb). Now I'm stuck in a loop, how do I correct this problem?
I have pulled the battery to get out of the loop and held down the volume and pushed the power button to get into bootloader from there I went into recovery and checked my sd card and there is no Rom. Help please.
If you can get into recovery, then download a rom to pc, connect phone to pc, mount sd card, transfer, wipe, flash.

Scrappy, now you know it, never do a factory reset on a custom rom...you will get stuck with no rom at all.
Boot in hboot and choose recovery. If you still have CWM recovery you can flash a custom rom from the sdcard (you will need a sdcard reader) but first make a full wipe to have a clean flash.
If you want to rever to stock ruu, then flash the official at&t GB RUU (is an .exe file) from fastboot (boot in hboot, choose fastboot and plug the phone till u see fastboot usb in red), then run the file.
The file u can get it from www.htc.com go to support and find downloads in the Inspire 4G section.
Yes pretty much what the above member said. Just pick a Rom there is a member by the name of gene pool that has a revert back to stock like out of the box kind revert its the dev thread for the inspire

Yep, that is correct..but if he wants to flash a custom rom. If he actually wants to revert to stock and keep S-OFF he has to flash the RUU...:fingers-crossed:

OK, I did a complete wipe, I am going to get the sd card reader. Just for the heck of it I mounted the sd card and looked to see what files (data) is on the card and all that is there is the 4ext recovery. Everything else is gone.
I am running up to walmart to get the sd card reader. If you wouldn't mind, could you please give (I feel stupid asking this) a step by step or provide a link on exactly how to this is done with the card reader.
Right now when attach my Inspire to the PC it won't even recognize it as a disk. So that is kind of throwing me for loop. I already have the ROM on my PC it is a rooted version of the original Gingerbread RUU.
Thank you so much for your help. :good:

Scrappy, do the following..get the sdcard reader and just paste the ROM in the root of it....then put the sdcard in the phone and boot in hboot and then choose recovery...
the: 1) just wipe data / factory reset 2) wipe cache / dalvik
Install from sdcard....enjoy...if you can't do it just send me a PM and we can arrange to fix it...

All is good, all working, wife is happy , you saved my butt.
Thank you so much.
Now I'm trying to decide if I want to keep the HTC Vivid or go with the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket (can't afford the Galaxy S III or the HTC One X). Have you checked out either phone and what is your opinion of them, to me the Vivid almost seems to much like the Inspire, except a lot faster. I have read and watched so many reviews of both phones but I am almost tempted to try The Skyrocket just for something different. Either way after rooting my Inspire I'm sure whatever I end up keeping, it will be rooted. Just looking for your thoughts on those two phones.

Hi friends
im new here so this is my second post considering my earlier one i got no reply, what i want is help from any android expert in solving my problem. see i recently got the HTC one X plus and unlocked the bootloader, and installed clockwork mod recovery and rooted my phone. now when i receive the offical jb ota update, i cannot update it and it says error and i abort the installation and then reboot the phone in clockwork mod. and by the way all this unlocking and rooting is done thanks to Hasoons2000 tool kit, bless that developer who made this toolkit. so after researching reading many forums and find out that we have to use stock recovery image for htc one +. to fix the problem , i cant find any One X + stock recovery image all i can see are htc one X stock recovery image. but i need the one specific to my phone model.
Also it would be of great help if you show me the process of using stock recovery on hasoons2000 toolkit for oneX+
Since i dont want to risk bricking my expensive phone. so guys if you have the solution to my problem please do help me out.!!
why isnt anyone helping out. or didnt try it

To recap: I was happily using my HOXL on nightly CM10.2 with android 4.3 without any problem, but to ruin my Life my phone ditched me by going dead on connecting it via USB to PC, it showed no sign of life.
To my anxious/curious/furious mood I tried getting the phone out of its shell, but I got my gorilla glass cracked, I got frustrated and gave the phone to a JTAGger friend, He found out not only the glass was broken but the cables were also ripped , I m getting my Display Changed now for some $70 Getting Jtagged for $30,
Now let me take you to the Actual Reason I am posting this,
Got my Phone JTAG repaired but I am on Download Mode which comes right after Jtag.
Now can any body can guide me to the full working carrier unlocked phone?
Thanks everyone for reading and Please Help!!!!!
Please Don't mind my English and don't take any thing offensive. :fingers-crossed:
What do you mean carrier unlocked phone? If you mean operating system, you'll want to run an RUU. Carrier unlocking is entirely different though, you get that through your carrier.
Please post your hboot details.

oK from what I understand you bricked your phone had it jtaged and now you got it in Download mode ready to flash a rom?
I assume you mean bootloader not download mode, unless we are talking about another phone..
Why dont you just flash a recovery on it and mount usb storage and drag a stock or close to stock rom over and boot it up
Once you have it booted up you can usually leave the sim card out of the phone and it will ask you for a code to unlock network.
I paid to have my code sent to me in like 2 mins if that long.
http://www.sieempi.eu/blog/remote-unlock?ref=urspecial
assuming you have no idea what you are doing.... Get a toolkit from the forumn, All in one toolkit very nice and put together so anyone can figure it out. Thanks and props to Hansons toolkits
it will take you through the recovery flash which you have to have.. from there you can flash a rom of your choice then once you get it booted up you can unlock the carrier. First thing is getting a working os or foundation
with your phone off power it on and hold volume down
once your in bootloader just push power button it will take you to another screen that says "fastboot usb"
flash a recovery and put a rom then unlock that bad boy then dont do that again.
I hope that helped som
I am a complete novice at playing with android phones but thought i`d have a play. I bought a htc one m7 that was not working and sent it to htc to repair which they did but ,apparently the phone had been bootloaded and they put this back on the repaired phone. Hence when i got it back , it all worked but i could not make calls. Sooo after reading some forums i tried to put a new rom on it, Android Hd one 84.0. Now the phone is stuck in a boot/recovery loop and is not recognised on my computer!! i`ve tried to adb sideload but this doesnt seem to load. Unfortunatley i didnt back up the the data before i done all this. Please help as im using an iphone and its killing me!!!!

Maybe it's just a bootloop and not a brick.
(Bootloop = neverending booting process, brick = either the download or the recovery mode doesn't work any more)

Good luck !
Thanks. Have tried all of your suggestions but no joy. Having read the suggestions I noticed it said about re locking the boot loader before installing a rom? If i say exactly what I done maybe I somebody may be able to tell me my errors?
Unlocked using htcdev and rooted. Tried to get s-off using rum runner but it failed with a message"unfortunatley this isn't going to work out with your configure, you have 2 options
1) flash an unsecure kernel that's compatible with your rom
2)flash a different rom.
Have tried to reinstall Android hd one 84.0 from recovery mode, Get a message on installation page at the end saying set_metadata_recursive:some changes failed.
On reboot it goes straight to recovery page and if I go into fast boot the phone shows in the device manager but not as a drive???

Hello, I have bricked my lg g2, I started to try to unlock the bootloader on my phone so I could flash custom roms and such. Well, being the dumb idiot like I am, I used the wrong unlocker for the wrong variant of the G2. It was stuck in fastboot mode. As I was about to get out of the brick that I had, I deleted aboot. This was the real mistake. It wouldent let me put on the aboot.bin back into the phone because of some directory problem on my computer... (ended up being my fault... AGAIN...) well, now, It doesnt even boot anymore... It vibrates as if it would turn on, then just goes to an extremely dark screen (looks like it's still off...) I tried to put aboot.bin back into the phone via command prompt, I figured out how to find the directory of aboot.bin, but it just waits for the phone. If there is any way I can save this phone, I would love to. I am inexperienced in rooting androids and flashing and this whole root thing was a mistake :silly:
Thanks

doubtful it can be fixed if it wont boot, but you can try asking your question in the g2 q&a. maybe some expert in your device forum can help.
Hey,are you able to boot into boot loader...if you can just lock the boot locker back and type the reboot command from PC itself

sorry, but that is actually the worst possible thing you could do in this situation. locking the bl back will prevent you from flashing any further software if needed or possible, to fix this issue.
the g2 bl isnt unlocked as you suggest. it is bypassed with an exploit and not really unlocked.

its been a long time since i used my g2, thats why i suggested you ask in the g2 help forum in post #2.
please dont take my correction of the other guys post as there being a fix for yours. i really believe there is not, but his advice was blatantly wrong, so i had to correct it.
i think aboot is download mode/fastboot (if you have that). so deleting that when the phone cant boot is very bad. if the phone was booting, and rooted, it would be easy to put on a new aboot with dd code.
