You linked your google account to your phone? It should show practically all of the contact details. Do you have the phone numbers in a field that is not labeled "mobile", "work", "home", or "pager"?
I've used google to store all of my address book details since back in the day when I was on a blackberry. When I switched to Windows Phone, I had to go through and correct a lot of contacts that had their numbers stored in the work field to the mobile field since Windows Phone is persnickity about sending SMS to any number other than mobile.
Not sure what you could have done wrong. Could you provide more details?

I have an exchange account that I linked with my Tab and I have been looking for the contact's birth date... which I haven't found in the contact application
Probably haven't looked at the right place. Can someone help me and tell me where it can be found ?
Than you

Do you press the "More" button at the bottom of the contact info?
If it's not showing up automatically then Exchange may not be synchronising that information. If that's the case I'm not sure how you'd force it to do so.

Of course I checked.... Exchange can synchronize birthdays on Outlook, pocket outlook, and some other softwares. From what I read around it seems Android doenst support this
Can you believe it ? The dumbest of my previous dumb phones support birthdays. My WM device did. And Android doesn't ? Honestly I am getting closer and closer to a deal breaker. A contact app without birthdays ? What's next ? A Phone without a dialer... ? I hope it;s not true
I have to check Touchdown, maybe it's available there...

You can define the birth date in the contact's device and then you can link that contact to your exchange's contact.

Seriously... that sucks...
I have around 1,200 contacts... This is ridiculous... Android is still not ready for prime time in its v2.2
Anybody can advise an alternative contact app that can replace the original one and allows to see the birthday field ? (And modify it...)
I heard MIUI ROM allows it so maybe there is a way to extract its contact app (?)
Actually I may give "Go contacts" a try
Anybody has tried and can compare with Samsung's contact manager ?
For most of my contacts, when I go to compose a new message and begin typing their name, their name shows up multiple times on the list.
I have gone into settings and only chosen "My Contacts" in gmail to show, which has each of my friends listed only ONCE, but some may have multiple numbers under their name (such as phone & google voice number). If their GV number shows up alongside their actual number it's not a problem, since it's only very few of my friends and sometimes I actually want to send a message to their GV instead of their phone.
The problem is that for contacts that I just have listed once in My Contacts, which most have only one number attached to their name, they'll show up twice and sometimes three or four times in the list.
For example:
- I have John Doe in My Contacts under gmail, and his number is +1-555-666-5555.
- I type "John" in the contact part of my text, and the following shows:
John - (+15556665555)
John Doe - (+15556665555)
John Doe - (+1-555-666-5555)
The name and number are obviously changed, but wtf.. why does it show up in various forms if I only actually have the last one in gmail?
i think it might be syncing off any linked accounts you have? such as Facebook maybe. you can go into the [John Doe] contact wherever u see multiple of the same #'s and you'll prob see the number show there multiple times too, reason is because some people have their # listed on their FB account and thats prob syncing into ur address book too. and their FB default name might be the other name showing, as opposed to like the nickname or w/e you'd use for them on your address book.
Thanks for the help, but that's not the issue. I made sure to go into Display Options and uncheck everything but "My Contacts" under Google. The problem still persists.
I know it's not a rom issue, because the same thing happened to me as soon as I got the phone.
Also, in the example I used (the name and number were changed, obviously), the friend I was looking at only had one number listed in the contacts list on gmail, yet it still shows a few variations on my phone.
Not really a big issue, just a nuisance.
Hi all,
Long time HTC one X+ user with AOSP Rom..... just switched to Nexus 5. I like N5 but one frustration is about calendar.
I am on work calls most of the time - all my calls have toll free number to dial and then we have to enter conf code # - a typical corporate set up.
on HTC...I was able to open calendar event, click on the toll free number for dialer to show up and dial the number..and then it used to show ..tap here to view calendar event details - I use tap and then view/enter the conf# details, it also had a provision for taking notes. I believe this was default calendar client (or maybe HTC's, not sure)
on N5, I can open the calendar event, click on the phone number, it brings up dialer with phone number and I can dial.... but nothing else - No event details to view or can't do any thing further.
this is a big problem for most users like me as when we dial a number and once connected if we have to enter a conf# etc..we have to go open the calendar event remember the conf#, then go back to dialer and enter the conf#....this is a pain in the neck.
Not sure if I am doing something wrong here...or forgetting anything I rooted my N5 as I do with all my devices....so maybe using a different calendar app makes sense?
thanks for your help..
In reading some articles, looks like the default Calendar app doesn't have these features?

Do you have a nickname field in your contacts? I am pretty sure that on different androids there is one, also my exDialer has a option to search in nickname field, but in my people app I cannot find this field. I have nicknames filled in my outlook, and I can't see them after the sync, nor edit on its own, the filed is just not in contact details.
Anybody know how to enable it or why this is happening?
Thanks

Yes, I have many contacts with nicknames showing. If you enter them in Google Contacts, the field will appear. If you want to add to a contact on the phone, tap the contact, menu->edit, at the bottom there is a button "add another field". Nickname is there.

Boy, I haven't used Outlook (thankfully!) for years now. Maybe the sync doesn't support that field? As I said, it shows up in Google Contacts.

it is really weird. I had google nexus before for testing and nickname was there. And I didn't sync that phone with anything...
EDIT: yeah, you are right. It is because I am using localaccount and not google account. Thanks for pointing this out.
I've looked online trying to solve this problem, but just can't find anything that describes whats happen to my phone. Pictures, phone numbers and emails from incoming people get added to existing contacts. Example:
Say I have contact: John S. I have his number, his address, and email in the contact.
Later I receive an email from Kimberly K., a business associate who's contact is not in my phone book, but who I have communicated with both by phone and email.
When the email from Kimberly K. comes in, I see a picture of John S. attached. When I check John S's contact in my phone, Kimberly K's email has been added as an additional email. In addition, if I get a call from John S., the picture is correct and the number is correct, but the name displays as Kimberly K? WTF?
This has now happened to several contacts, some have added the email and phone numbers. Also, the names of the mysteriously merged contacts are not even close. When I remove the added information, it always returns. I think that happens either by syncing, or when I receive a contact (email, call, or text) by either of the merging contacts.
What I've done so far:
I have checked my Google contacts on line and they are correct there.
I have disabled contact sync with FB, Viber, WhatsApp, and Yahoo contacts.
Searched like crazy online.
So If my Google contacts online is correct, what is causing the return of the incorrect info when I fix the phone contact?
Would wiping my phone of contacts ensure the sync would bring in the correct list?
Help!
PS, I'm on and LG G2, but I don't think phone brand is the cause.
