wow.. should get test in it..
Humm, this looks very familiar.... could it be that this is just a rehash of my original ICS root script?
Original post of it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779968&highlight=att+on+ics
The link to DL, just the root scripts:
http://www.androidfilehost.com/main/Motorola_ATRIX_2_Developers/jimbridgman/A2_ICS_root.zip
Next time, it would be proper to give credit to people whom you used their work.... even if this was not intentionally copied from me, it was copied from someone in here, and I was the first one to post it, since I posted the OG ICS leak, and the root method at the same time.
There are several others who "borrowed" my script but credit was given properly. Yes I did use Dan's OG method for root, but I did give him credit way before the leak thread I posted.

Sorry, but I have no a "Atrix 2 International Version" for testing.
I have only one atrix 2 at&t.
I may have to try this out next time I have to fxz.
Bmm
1. Stock 4.0.4
2. Miui
3. PA 310 4.2.2
4. CMPA 4.1.2
I used to be able to root my phone easily with my old computer running Windows XP SP 3.
Right right i cant even get it done on my new computer running Windows XP SP 3 and shows:
error: protocol fault(no status)
After that my phone hangs i have to FXZ .
Anyone can help?
So, last night I ran this on my boyfriend's Atrix 2 (AT&T) after a fresh FXZ to stock ICS and it got to "You are now rooted!" or something along those lines and reboot... only to boot to a black screen. I pulled the battery after like 5-10 mins and boot it back up... Still a black screen, only way I was able to fix it was by FXZing again.
Hello guys,
I want to thank u, cuz it really works.
I tried around 10 different tutorials and downloaded lots os files but none of them worked.
This is the real deal...thanks a lot !
I am trying to root my phone, I have installed the moto usb drivers and put the phone in usb debugging mode but for some reason when I type adb devices nothing shows up. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to fix this? TIA
I was forced to fxz back to stock ICS...and I lost my root. Trying this method, led me to the same problem as someone else who posted a few before me. I face a black screen. After the root process and my device reboots...it shows the lockscreen but my screen isnt responsive. Once it locks, its just black with the hardware keys lit. I have searched google, and this and cant seem to find whats wrong here. Can anyone shed some insight please?

This tool will automatically deodex your AT&T One X if its rooted and has Busybox installed (one click root tool already does all of this for you). This should make it easier for folks to install modifications since we don't have a CWM .zip of deodexed files quite yet.
http://briefmobile.com/auto-deodex-tool-for-htc-one-x-att
Also, developers are encouraged to take a look at the batch commands. You guys can make custom ROM installers and such with very little effort. This will work until we have CWM.
Edit: Linux version thanks to JeepFreak! http://www.filefactory.com/file/58m4z62jgn51/n/linux-light-deodex_tar_gz

It should work on a Rogers device, although you guys already have CWM (which is much easier/less messy). You can certainly install busybox through the market if you're rooted.

yep, Im converting my rom to this. So be patient for another hour
EDIT: Currently testing the batch...
Worked perfectly!! Full deodex on at&t hox
how is deodexing a rom going to give you anything else than whats already on your rogers device?
So flash our CWM then this tool?
caution-
just a kind word of caution to fellow users:
the first time i ran this i got a soft brick, probably because i was already partially debloated.
however,
i flashed the stock RUU, rerooted, retried this program and it seems to have worked just fine. thanks for the tool!

However itll put the us version on your phone. Then maybe u can check for updates on phone and install it for your country(not sure) or u can download any of the roms you find here on the forum. It wont be your turkish version but its basically same. If there was a fxz for it that i knew of i would link you to it.but as far as i know there isn't one online.can u be more specific to which rom you have other than just telling me 2.3.6.

What i meant by giving you that link was if you posted in there it would have been easy for all to have a look at your situation and help you out.
But anyways the problem you are referring to is definitely a strange one. There is a way to get back to ICS Leak1 but that is for AT&T only and is quite cryptic at the moment. If you don't know what you are doing I won't suggest going forward with that. However with a few trials i was able to get back to ICS Leak1.So what can I say try it if you really want.
A script is also available that is supposed to automate the process but hasn't been tested successfully yet.So that i would definitely suggest avoiding.

*Caution: I will not be held responsible for any problems/data loss that might occur. These are events that any living person should be aware of. However, I will do my best to maintain this thread and give support to those with questions, problems, etc.
Remember: Nobody is holding a shotgun to your head, so if you are not comfortable with all the possible problems, please walk away.
Also noteworthy: unlocking will void your warranty, rooting will not!*
This is just a little walktrough I just recently wrote for another xda-member who was troubled, because he wanted to unlock and root his tf700 even though it was completely stock on JB.
For now, I haven't seen any clear and yet complete guides as to what to do, so I decided to copy/paste that post and edit it (read: give more explanations) where you need more help.
This is what you'll need to do.
*If* you want to try and unlock the JB bootloader without reverting to ICS , apperently works sometimes -mostly when rooted before- try this step.
[I have not tried this, so if I get enough people that post that this didn't work, I'll delete these lines ]
You'll need to unlock your bootloader by (downloading this file)
Install that .apk and open it, check the 'I read this and I agree'-type box and try to unlock
*If* this worked you are free to go to step 2) for rooting.
*If* this didn't work, follow the instructions all the way
You'll need to revert to ICS .30. You can do so by downloading the appropriate zip from this thread.zip[/URL] and extract it once.
WARNING: choose the .zip (under the section old firmware updates) *you* need. eg. If you have a Taiwanese TF700, download the TW version. You can check which one you need by checking your build number in settings > about tablet
Then place the extracted .zip file on the root of your sdcard of the tf700 and rename the .zip to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip
Turn your device off and reboot it. It 'll "update".
If the unlocking on JB didn't work, or you didn't try (I don't blame you. You'll lose your data anyway) you'll need to unlock your bootloader starting with (downloading this file)
Install that apk and open it, check the 'I read this and I agree'-type box and unlock
Then you'll need to root. This has become somewhat more difficult since the debugfs method (the automated method) doesn't always work anymore [has been reported many times and indeed didn't work for me either].
Still, since it's so easy, please try it first, for your own comfort!
Here's the link. It is important to note that *if* it works, it would only work on some ICS devices! If it worked: Congratulations, you are now a proud owner of a device that's truly yours!!
Do not forget to install and use Voodoo OTA RootKeeper before you go and update to JB!
If you don't, you will lose root once JB is installed.
If the debugfs method didn't work for you, or you are on JB you should do the following.
Use this thread as a guideline. Since the automated root scripts don't work (for you), I am afraid you'll need to
1) go back to JB. (Same procedure as with the ICS .30 file, but now download the most recent file from Asus' support website. (don't forget: extract it once and rename it (same name))
2) go into fastboot (long press powerbutton and volume down when the tablet is turned off. Select fastboot by going to the usb icon (by pressing volume down until you're on that icon) then press volume up to confirm. Then do a fastboot command to flash this (a Custom Recovery) .
Afterward you flash a *flashable* SuperSU .zip-file. (if you google it, I am sure you'll be redirected to that latest flashable SuperSU.zip file. You ought to find it in the xda-forums. (Where else?! )
There you have it. You should now have unlocked and rooted your device.
If you like TWRP better than CWM you can still flash TWRP via the GooManager app afterwards.
I don't know if this is the fastest/ best method, - probably not - but I know it worked for me.
PS: Don't forget to copy all of your photos and other personal files to your PC first, because you'll lose everything.
EDIT
Sorry: forgot to say, you can also try to root your device while still on ICS (even when debufs let you down). But I just preferred to be on JB first, because it makes it much easier to get into fastboot.
Special thanks to:
scrosler
hiemanshu
sdbags
for their dedication to the tf700 and their posts, which you just have to put together and make it coherent, so their posts will work for you!
Don't forget to 'thank' them as well in their posts

If it ships with ICS .22 still, you can even update (the same manual way just to make sure it doesn't leap to JB) to .26
Then you do NVFlash- which will help you if you'd ever get bricked. Not that you're likely to ever brick; the tf700 is pretty hard to brick actually
Just to make sure though, browse through that thread, but I was to eager to update my tablet and therefore was too late for the NVFlash party. Didn't do any effort afterwards, because I feel I won't ever brick this device.
After the NVFlash you can do whatever my post said (also on the .22 or .26 ICS ROMs)
The NVFlash is not necessarily though You can skip it, but it's handy.
Have fun and remember: it's not yours until you unlock it
PS: Is this the first Android "Rooting and/or Unlocking" experience for you?
If so, I can maybe help you out via PMs
Never mind, read your signature, you should be okay with these instructions. If not, please post it here, and I'll make sure to answer and maybe put it in the Original Post
Not bad. It might help some people out.
The automated debugfs method is still working. You just need to be on ICS to use it, and then use OTA Rootkeeper to update.

Doesn't really matter what you do first. I'd say that if you get your tablet on ICS, it might be advisable to first root. (try the debugfs method first, if that doesn't work, you'll need to unlock your bootloader first and follow my post.)
CWM and TWRP are both good, I've found that I enjoy TWRP a bit more, just because you can notive it's really a touch-optimised recovery.
However, you'll see that some ROM developers will say they advise you to use one rather than the other.
Since I think you said you were going to CR Inheritance, I'd go with TWRP. Most tf700 are using that anyway.
You'll see TWRP has the same features, just a nicer lay-out and user interface
Good luck, man!
don't forget to re-read my first post as I will try to cram as much info in it as I can!
NOTE:
Don't forget to use Voodoo OTA RootKeeper if the Debugfs method worked for you!

Thanks man, will give TWRP a go ... And I gots not a clue what that oodoo OTA RootKeeper and the Debugfs are .. Will have to try'em n see ... Since Tablet is still 2 days away am only talking off the top of my head really ...
Since AFAIK the tablet ships with ICS pre-installed not JB, I think I will be good to go as far as Rooting and Unlocking ... Oh and I downloaded the WW as well as US versions of JB updates from ASUS site ... So am confused as to which version to use if I need to or can I just got to CRI ROM straight from ICS ? Coz you have mentioned that you preferred to go to JB first due to ease of booting into fastboot mode ... Can't you do that with a cmd command line ? Isn't there a tool for that like the one I contributed on in my sig ?
Finally, it would be great if you added to your already awesome guide how to update bootloader without having to flash/download all 500+mb file ... If it is possible .. I dunno but on One X it is ... I just get a 15mb firmware.zip n flash it ... maybe it ain't so easy on the Pad ?
Thanks for all your help ...

Voodoo OTA rootkeeper will protect your root, so that your device will remain rooted even when updating to a newer firmware version, whereas on Asus' stock ROMs, it usually wouldn't.
Debugfs is a script that'll run once you connect your tf700 to your computer. You download the debugfs file, run the program itself and it'll try to make your rooting proces much easier. You'll just have to press some keys, instead of doing (the usually much more complicated) alternative rooting processes.
It has been reported to work, but it didn't on mine. Maybe because I had been on JB first. So remember, try that debugfs on ICS!

Once your tablet gets to you, you'll need to go into its settings, tap 'about tablet' and check the build number. You'll see it'll either start with US or WW, depending on where you bought it from
If you install an official update you should always choose the matching file. You'll find the appropriate files here on xda or on asus' site. If you need help with wich you must choose, send me a message!
You can indeed go into fastboot without being on JB, but to be honest, I felt that first updating to stock JB, to update the bootloader and match the steps of that guideline of Hiemanshu, was safer.
However, if the debugfs method worked and you unlocked your bootloader on ICS too, there is no reason for all these complicated steps.
You can just
- root
-unlock
- install GooManager from the Play Store, and let that app
- install TWRP
From then on: happy flashing
(this guide is for when one of these simple steps fail, but if they don't it's all fairly simple! )

In order for your bootloader to keep up with the JB updates, it is better to first go to stock JB, but like you said, there is a .zip file somewhere (I'll try to find it) which you can just flash to update nothing but your bootloader.

It is a flashable file you should install via a custom recovery!
Hello Experts,
This is sktneer from India. I am Forum Guru in reputed ExcelForum (excelforumdotcom).
But I do not know anything about the back end applications used in phones except the basic functionality of my phone, currently using Motorola Atrix 2 MB865 (Asia version).
I would request you experts to guide and assist me to resolve the issues I am having with my phone.
My phone is very slow and I have tried almost all the methods I found over internet to get rid of this but all my efforts have gone in vain.
Recently over internet I found that some users having the same problem claimed that their issue was resolved by updating their Atrix 2 to Jelly Bean with unofficial leak 3.
To be very frank, this was completely new thing to me and I was not even aware of the terminology used in this scenario.
My Questions:
1) Is rooting is required for this kind of updaing? If yes, please guide me that how can I root my device?
2) What are the correct steps for updating my device with such leaks? Because when I googled this I just found few links for downloading but as I told you that I am completely novice and not familiar with the terminology used, so couldn't get the correct steps to be followed.
3) My last question is, is it possible to install ICS back if I face issues with JB on my device?
I know that I have asked too much and certainly you experts don't expect a complete novice in the forum but I hope that you will bear with me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is absolutely safe to install jb leak on Indian atrix 2 (I am using the same on my phone)
Rooting is not required for this process.
Use this link for complete procedure
and this is the link for downloading jb leak 3
Use the jb leak 3 instead of stock rom (leak) that is given in that procedure

Thanks Sameer!
I really appreciate your help.
I visited the link you provided and one thing is not clear to me. Would you please guide me that how to follow that......
In the link OP stated something like this....
"Once the whole process is over, you'll get a little sign saying that it passed. This means that your ROM has been flashed. Note- do NOT remove your phone/ let your phone or computer switch off. You do not want to go there. Make sure everything has enough charge.
Now... This step is very important... Reeboot your phone and..... You're done! That's it! Your phone now runs official(kinda) Jelly Bean(4.1)!"
Does this mean that when the process of updating is finished, the phone will be switched off automatically and I will have to reboot the phone when it is still connected to the pc as I normally switch on my phone by pressing the power button?
I am sorry if I have asked something silly but I need your guidance.
Hi Sameer,
One more query. Do I need to remove my memory card and SIM before updating also?
Thanks.
Reporting back the progress:
So finally I have updated my device successfully and noticed some changes and I will need your approval whether these changes are normal or if not, how to correct them.
1) The model number of the phone is showing ME865 now instead of MB865 (my old mode before update). Is this correct?
2) The new android version is 4.1.2. Is this the correct version which belongs to leak3?
3) When I called first after updating, the call was not connected and I got a Chinese voice message.
4) I can still see Chinese language here and there, though I changed it to English.
Please let me know if I have done it correctly or do I need to follow some more steps to completely make it to function properly?
Somebody please reply.
All is correct, no Worries,

Thanks Sameer. You helped me a lot. I really appreciate that.
I have few more questions for you, please reply if you can....
1) The latest version of Jelly Bean is 4.3. So is it possible to update to the latest version?
2) Can I re-install the JB update using the same method again, if any issue with the device?
3) If I factory reset the device, will the android version be changed to ICS again?
Sorry for bothering you.
Thanks again for all your support.
1.Yes it is!
2. Yes you can!
3. No. Your phone will only stay at the rom you flashed.

Thank you so much for your reply.
If you have any link with clear instructions for how to update to 4.3, please share that link with me.
Thanks again.
In fact i have never flashed 4.3 before. But i had 4.2 & kk roms flashed succesfully, and i'm using KK(cm11) right now. You can search the Atrix2 Android Development section for some threads of instructions on how to flash a 4.3 rom.

Hi Ricokowalski,
Nothing is better if there is any possibility of using KK.
Do you have any link with clear instructions to a beginner for how to do that, keeping in mind that I have already used JB leak 3 using RSD Lite? I will appreciate any help in this regards.
Moreover why I see this line in your message "Sent from my MB865 using XDA Free mobile app" because after updating my device shows ME865 instead of MB865 but yours is still showing MB865?
Thanks once again for your reply.
Firstly you need to get your phone rooted. Then you have to install a cunstom recovery. Most roms support the BMM(Boot Menu Manager) custom recovery. You can also install multiple Roms by BMM.
If the BMM runs normally on yoir phone, i think it is possible to flash roms.
You can access the BMM instructions here↓
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49231803
I think that should be enough for a beginner to use BMM fluently.
And about the device name, i think it is because the build.prop file changed because of the JB leak you flashed. So your device name is changed too.
However i have noticed that some Roms had stated that people should flash them on stock ICS rom and i wonder if it is also safe to flash on JB leak. Afterall, it is dangerous to flash a custom rom.

That some roms are, non kexec 4.2.2 roms only !! (These non kexec rom needs stock ICS rom as ur primary rom)
All kitkat roms are kexec roms which can be flashed with BMM whether you have jb leak installed or stock ICS installed as ur primary ROM (system 1)
And its not dangerous to flash a custom rom

Nice to see your reply Sameer.
I updated to the JB leak3 with the help of the link you provided and I really appreciate your help since a beginner like me could update using RSD Lite and the leak file without knowing abcd of the whole story.
I would really appreciate if you can provide any further assistance in order to update to kitkat using RSD Lite since I am aware of the process of update using this method.
So can I do the same to update to kitkat using the same method?
If so, can you please assist me in doing so.
As you know my device is now on JB leak 3, will I be able to continue from here to kitkat?
Any further help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

No Sameer. Probably you mistaken me. I know that there might be threads addressing the same issue, but being a novice I cannot decide myself that which one to follow and that's why I requested you to help me to decide about the right method since I trust you. As I am not still clear that is installing BMM necessary for updating to kitkat or can't it be done using RSD Lite as I previously did with JB leak 3?
And don't worry, you are not being rude at all as I can understand this because I am also a forum guru and I know the feeling when OP asks more and then either I don't have time to reply or I am not willing to reply. So never mind. I will try and see if I can find something useful myself.
Thanks for all your support so far. :good:
