just bought this xperia J yesterday,
i'm using windows XP sp3
and just installed sony PC companion from sony website
i cannot connect my Xperia J to PC by MTP mode
i can only connect by MSC mode
i've tried other usb cable but still i can't
can somebody please help me
I had the same problem when i connected in mtp mode to win xp but
Works fine in win 7 and 8
This happens because of the driver's not being installed but windows 7 automatically installs them as u connect ur phone

Install it on PC from here http://www.wondershare.com/android-manager/
And connect Ur phone Ur driver will be installed automatically...:good:

tried enable usb debug and then try it on my windows XP and IT WORKS!!!
now i can update my xperia software to a newer version

Try unlockroot software for root......there will be no problem.....at first check that Settings>>Xperia>connectivity>MTP should be on....and in developer menu...check the box"unknown sources".......

Make sure you have a driver installed and if not go to google and download a driver called "PdaNET driver for android" since there is no official driver for Sony tipo
If you have the driver your USB debugging mode will work

First, use that universal adb driver installer. Then reconnect using pc companion.

if you mean it cant find your phone check if you phone is in MSC mode /settings/xperia/connectivity. if it is change it to MTP mode.

Have you tried flashtool
For pc companion to detect, turn off debug mode + mtp mode.

Its for pc companion to detect the phone, it need usb debug off. You can also use flashtool to flash jellybean .ftf file.

Am thinking you should get it soon, most people have got the update. Try find a stock rom on xda and flash it using flashtool. Have you tried PC Comapion?

PC Companion should automatically check for updates if ur phone is connected, and u r connected to the internet, right?
But in my computer, PC Companion fails to connect to the internet, EVEN WHEN I AM!!
Any workarounds?

I am using a dual boot computer i.e xp & win8 same happened with me on Win 8 but it works fine in XP

The only way if PC Companion does not work is to flash stock ftf with flashtool. I have got 1 FTF on latest version but its branded for Orange/UK

When i try to flash , windows says usb device not recognized.

Install adb drivers! Tick USB debugging in drveloprr Menu if you want to flash ftf!

I had the same problem! You need to put some file of SXJ on flashtool driver folder! As the old flashtool doesnt support SXJ! That solved my problem!

Which file of sxj should i put on flashtool folder ?

Its not like a driver! Its just .inf file that will make ur flashtool recognize ur device..
I will try to post that today.
Or did you try the latest update of flashtool? May be it already has support for XJLo! Best luck

Isn't a problem of flashtool.. But cmd too not recognized it .
