So who wants it and (why) also who doesn't want it and (why), I REALLY WANT IT just cuz it is AMAZING from all the vids I've watched by Phonedog but as many others wonder WHY htc doesn't do any commercials anymore or even for this phone in which they are themselves calling their 'Flagship'?

It does indeed look quite interesting but...
Why not: I got my S just recently, and Im not the sort of person who switches phone just because something newer and better came out.
Why not: The S have no issues performance-wise, and I doubt it will anytime soon. There will always be something newer and better, thats just the way works.
Why: Im a geek, the geek in me wants the newest stuff, even though I have no use for it
No,because HTC chips itself.
No,because HTC has ****ty updates.
No,because it has 4mp camera.
No,because no sd card place.
My next phone will be Sony Xperia Z(waterproof, hard to scratch,13mp camera,up to 64gb sdcard)simply beautiful.
The only thing One has better than the Z is the processor.

Just take this post and imagine I wrote it too. It describes my feelings perfectly.
I'll add a why: That new camera tech could be very interesting, if it's even almost as good as it's made out to be.

Your other points have merit (aesthetics aside -- "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and all that), but this I'm honestly curious about. What do you really think you can do with > 4 MP in a mobile phone camera? What do you gain? Myself, I'd rather have 4 MP pictures that are clear and capture well in low-light than 10+ MP pictures that are underexposed or grainy. If HTC can deliver significantly better looking pictures with fewer pixels, I'm all for it. If Sony or anyone else can match or beat that quality with more MP, then so much the better. But panning a camera simply because "it's only 4 MP" seems silly.
I dont want it until he gets s-off

I already see an HTC troll as well, claiming the SGII has a "jelly cam" but somehow the Sensation does not. Where is the roach spray? You have to clean your own litterbox before accusing stray turds from another forum.

I'm holding out, nexus doesn't impress me against what I already have. Would only gain on dual core. Waiting for a couple coming releases offering good specs with multi-core. HTC is already playing with a quad-core, waiting to see if it will still have a early year release! I like changing phones, but its better to feel like im actually upgrading!
I'm good with my Thunderbolt, have good battery life, clocking @1.6ghz, and has better camera. Not dropping from 8 to 5mp. Thats weak, thats why thunderbolt was reviewed to have the best mobile phone camera. Ha, my front camera takes better pictures than iphones do.

Google Talk Video Chat Issues
I've liked the Thunderbolt pretty well, but since we finally got the ability to use Google Talk for Video Chat, I've been VERY irritated that I can never get it to work over Mobile Data.
Have you experienced this issue? Video Chats should work just fine over a 4g connection, but basically every time I try to initiate or accept a video chat on my Thunderbolt it doesn't connect and says something about a "Network Issue."
I am able to successfully get vid chats working over WiFi... but come on.... this is supposed to be the Flagship 4G device. Video chat needs to work.
Anyone else experiencing the same?
Any suggestions on a fix?

The MP argument isn't valid. MP are not everything. I have seen pictures taken on the iPhone 4S and they truly are better looking than my bolt's pics. I'm not even an iPhone fan no would I want an iPhone but saying that your camera on your bolt is better than the iPhone 4S' is just being stubborn.
In terms of the nexus upgrade, a lot of people said the same about our phone when it was released. Hardware wise the TB was going to be (and has been) overshadowed by newer devices. It's all preference. I would love to have a Nexus just because I can finally have an AOSP phone. If you prefer sense that's different.

With CM9 around the corner and almost a completely functional MIUI, why change?
I keep wondering what is wrong with me because I have absolutely no interest in the Gnex at all - its nice to know I'm not the only one! The Gnex seems like the ultimate geek phone so I feel like I should want it, but I'm happy with my Bolt. The fact that I don't have an upgrade until May helps too....

I mean I would prefer an AOSP phone with the support of a nexus device. Getting these upgrades pushed immediately and without major bugs would be great. MIUI is functional but audio wise it's still pretty messed up. No disrespect to the devs, just that the audio output on MIUI seems to be low quality right now.
All in all, like I said it's all preference. the SAMOLED screen is another huge plus for me as well. I like AMOLED so much more than LCD
Yeah, I can qualify for an upgrade through VZW, but I'm not super impressed by the Nexus. I'll have to see how the Droid 4 turns out though (envious of slide-out keyboards). The Nexus still has verizon bloatware -- I'm not sure what else they've managed to stuff in there. Either way, I'm still pretty pleased with the Bolt.
I love my Tbolt. Best phone I've ever had.
I was very excited about the gnexus, even though I don't have an upgrade any time soon! The camera on the gnexus is FAST! I've seen video of it taking pictures every 3 seconds or so, and stock ICS is soooo sexy. However, the gnexus phone will be obsolete in a few weeks (of course thats with any phone)
The Bolt was my first HTC phone (I always had Moto before that) and I don't think I'd ever go away from HTC now. I like the Bolt that much. I did use a corporate upgrade to get a Rezound but ended up giving that to my wife in exchange for her Bolt so now I have an extra one I can try things out on while keeping my Bolt as the daily driver. I'm running BAMF Forever on the DD and InfectedROM's Sense 3.5 build on the experimental (and hopefully at some point an ICS build with working data.) The phone is just a workhorse and with all the dev work on this phone it's the flagship for me.
Definitely Keeping

Totally agree! HTC's put kickstands on other phones; I hope they come up with a true upgrade that still has one (only this time one that flips OPPOSITE the battery charging port...)
Agree with the others in the thread as well that there really isn't a truly better phone out there yet on all dimensions; TBolt is still very relevant.

This...to an extent. In regards to seeing a difference between 5MP and 8MP, really the only time that you'll truly notice a difference is if you are blowing up the picture in larger format (8.5x11.5 +), but first you have to take into consideration that most people use their cellphone cameras for:
A) taking/uploading photos/videos to social networking sites (e.g. facebook et al - which already compresses the hell out of the photos anyways)
B) for prints (if even) 5x7 and lower which you will not notice the difference.
Now with it being a cellphone camera of course the pictures aren't going to look as good as a camera with a lot better sensor (or even one at all). The reason why Samsung went with a 5MP camera instead of the more standard 8MP is that the 5MP camera has a better aperture which gives you an almost instant photo instead of waiting forever for it to focus and gather all the light information in order to take the photo.

You know they make cases that have kickstands built onto them for phones without them, right?
Yep going to be rocking my bolt for almost another year
I've played with various dual core phones and I see no real speed improvement over the 1.4ghz thunderbolt, and the nexus camera downgrade makes me somewhat uninterested in that phone, as much as I like nexus phones, I still like to have an sd card, it's a major downside to me. Unless it breaks, I'll be rocking this phone till november of this year, when I have an upgrade available, I'll wait for a quad-core phone with an LTE chip that is significantly better off battery wise.
I'm happy with my Thunderbolt for now. I got lucky and got it as a mid-contract upgrade on Craigslist - brand new for $200 and I'd only had my Incredible for a year. The build quality is the best part, in my mind. It feels indestructible.
I use TANGO for video chatting.. works flawlessly for me.. 3G-4G-Wifi. Plus its cross platform so you can video chat with your lame iphone friends. Free download from the app store.. check it out.
Ten things I love about the thunderbolt:
1.kickstand, wanted it ever since my brother got his EVO 4g
2.the dev work for the phone is amazing, over 50 diff ROMs.
3.the speed and overclockability
4.Looks and performs sleekly
5.A front facing camera
6.almost no problems with it (that's just me)
7. I get 23 hours of battery life now with kernels
8.meallic finish (hated the evos plastic)
9. TRUE 4G (not that crap Sprint is trying to sell)
10. Does everything I want

Ok let start with the deal,
rewardzonemobile.com
it is owned by best buy and has the photon 4g for 100$ to upgrade. Then they have a promotion for 100$ worth of rewardzone points. Making the device virtually free. You can also chose instore pickup then stack it with other stuff as well.
Now that the deal is out of the way, how is the phone doing in general? Is it getting some development? how is stock software/hardware?
I am thinking of getting one on this deal so want to decide :/, I am looking for the goods and bads. Right now I have an Epic 4g.
Hey gTen, good to cya over here. I'm still with the Epic as well, and from everything I've read, at least for me the one negative holding me back is that Roam Control reportedly from another thread isn't working with it yet, which is a dealbreaker for me until that's resolved due to yo-yo signal issues in my building. Everything else I've read of it thus far, at least for me, I'm sold on. The only other real outstanding negative I've seen/read from reviews both professional and real world users on the forums here & elsewhere would be the camera quality if you're a big camera user...even at 8mp pictures aren't all that great with the P-Q.

While I don't generally use the camera much, how bad are we talking about? Like not as good compared to cameras of the GS3 and EVO LTE or as bad as the original Evo 4g camera?
Its not that its outright 'bad' I don't think, just not particularly 'good' either. Here's a couple of reviews you can read the camera-specific sections on for a little more indepth detail:

I have read the reviews. I an I for one prefer this camera to my photon and that POS epic. I like the auto-focus. The only time I've noticed this thing can't focus is when you're about 2-4 inches from what you're trying to focus on. And even then you can see it trying to focus. The picture quality is very good too. Processes very quickly.

Think you would get better results from the HTC one, coming from someone who takes a lot of pics, HTC has a pretty good camera. Plus you can always use a aosp Rom for it, which would be similiar to the vanilla style the nexus has.

Ugly, no reason for a raised camera bezel, probably still packing 4mp rear camera like the days of 2008 cell phones but with their patented super duper pixel marketing name, don't see any sd card slots. Why is this device being produced at all?????
Looks fine to me.
If it has at least 8MP with the duo setup, it would be worth an upgrade for those who dont already have an M8.
They set the bar very high with the M8 to a point where I don't see how they could improve on anything. The UltraPixel camera is way underrated, this is coming from someone that came from a 13 "MP" phone. If megapixels mean everything which it absolutely DOESN'T, then the Nokia has the best camera by far

One of the reasons I chose the M8 over the Z2 or S5 was the screen size... It's the width of the phone that matters most and HTC's had the slimmest width of the bunch. Makes it easier for one handed operation.
5.5" is going too far into note territory which I tend to avoid. Perhaps this is the replacement for the Max?

If this is the M8 but beefed up to 5.5", 2K Full HD resolution, 3GB RAM 805 Snapdragon, even better camera, but also keeps the same gorgeous aluminum body and SD card...AND the same S-OFF exploit works on it...(or if one is found shortly after launch)

I can guarantee the same soff exploit won't work.
But regardless I've debated doing the same. I have a CM11 toting GS3 to fall back on during the transition if need be. We'll see though...
I don't think people are fully grasping how the higher resolution will impede performance. Hell my PC monitor is only 1920x1200... To run games well at 2560x1440 as on 1920x1200 requires a BEASTLY setup... Otherwise frame rates get cut in half at best, depending on the game.
I'm worried about UI lag is all.

Yeah, I would assume there would need to be a fire water sequel for this phone. I could easily suffer my M8 until it's found.
I don't game on my phone..so I'm all for the monster specs as I'm sure Qualcomm and HTC have it under control.

Nor do I, but was trying to illustrate how much more power is needed to render at that resolution. I realize I could've worded things clearer.
Then again I was saying the same thing when 1080p displays started coming out. I was thinking battery life would be abhorrent and the UI would be choppy. Wasn't exactly the case aside from a few outliers.

I haven't heard anyone hear discuss it, but I truly believe this is simply the successor to the HTC One Max. As such, I think it's an awesome evolution of the One Max, and I will surely get one, but it's not going to get me to get rid of my M8, which I simply love. Great work HTC!
If this is out to compete with the note then I think it might be awesome. The camera hanging out won't matter since most will probably use a leather type pholio type case and bam the camera is flush. I do actually really like the grill covers being vertical, kinda has a nice retro look.
One thing though you can bet Red will have this thing locked down tighter than a Sammie. They are so gonna make up for weaksauce and firewater and the next few HTC releases. The Devs embarrassed the pants off them on the quick with the M8 and I bet HTC has played hell for it.
In my opinion, none of the big devices can compete with the Note unless they have similar pen capability. I use it constantly on my Note 3, and it is the differentiating factor - not just the big screen.
Well if it makes anyone feel any better, looks like it's cancelled for now.

Good...I'd hate to see a super flag ship released a few months after the flag ship launched. They should sell both versions at the same time and let the consumers decide which version they'd prefer
