First, my apologies for not placing this in the Q&A forum. I would move it if I knew how. In what part of the Android phone does the locking software reside?
If I root and ROM my phone is the carrier lock removed? I know unlocking a phone is illegal without carrier permission, or if I buy it for full price. What are the details about the locking software? I apologize if this is covered in another forum but I didn't find it when I did a search and search again. Thanks for any help.

This is the Inspire Android Development Section... I'm assuming you have an unlocked Inspire? Or are you considering buying an unlocked one? Either way..

Hi,
I wanted to ask my question in the very helpful post by xl VipeR lx:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300&highlight=htcdev
But since I am new it would not let me and I received the following:
To ask Questions about developing your device, installing ROMs, software and themes you must go to the Q&A or General Forum.
Remember, your question has very likely been asked already, so please search before posting.
I searched around and was not able to find the answer. It may be a silly questions but it's a simple one so hopefully someone can assist.
I have a HTC Sensation and want to root it and put CM7 on. Do I need to unlock the bootloader with instructions from www.htcdev.com/bootloader/unlock-instructions before following VipeR's posting on rooting?
Thank you in advance.
yes you do
Thanks

My main reason for asking is I don't want HTC to necessarily know that I unlocked it. Some of the other forum posts have folks who killed their phone. Users recommend putting it back to stock so that HTC warranty will cover repairs.
If I use HTCDev then they would know that I unlocked it (warning mentioned when you register with them).
Any way around that?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
How to unlock inspire 4g to work on GSM ?
Maybe it is an old question, but this must be posted in order to know the newest ROM-Radio-Stock can be downloaded.
The answer must be simple and clear.
If anybody can help in this thread ,he must give the steps to unlock the inspire 4g and from where we can download the best ROMs.
Thank you.
You're joking, right?

Read through the forums stickies, your research should start there.
Hello
Don't know if this is the right place to ask this question but I'm going to proceed regardless because I'm desperate. I'm having a small problem after flashing the S3 to Cricket. The phone never had a SIM installed and after flashing it all I'm getting is talk and text. I do get 3G after installing the SIM but then it tries to activate the card and my 3G goes away. How the he'll do u stop this or prevent it from happening? My last option is to install a pre activated SIM and see if it takes it. Of course there's the small issue of who's going to lead it to me?
I would sincerely appreciate any help

You people don't understand, there will NEVER be a root for locked bootloader on this device. Sorry :silly:
questions and answers like this are why this thread needs to be closed.

Moved to Q&A and closed.
Useless thread is useless, there is plenty of information on this. The simple answer is no, and we don't know if or when.
