Wow nice! Didn't expect to see this on the Skyrocket for a while
Props for all the work you've been putting out lately Toyes, keep it up
All I can say is wow! Doors are opening lately -
Do I have to download the 2nd file if I've already downloaded it from ubuntus website for my nexus 7? (the one with the word phablet in it)

I thought about building this until I saw that there isn't even support for 3G data yet (for any device). That and most apps are non functional. I'll definitely start building this once the data issues get worked out upstream.
Wow looks and feels awesome,i think ubantu will be more popular then android.

Yup. Couldn't get it to work. Really slick looking. It seems to be preloaded with contacts and messages. Didn't play with it that long.

has potential, won't be better than Android, at least for now. What I love most it that it didn't take to long for you to get it up and running. Hopefully later releases will be this easy as well. Thanks for the preview.

It says in the OP that data and wifi are not working. I assume that would mean no calls/messaging.

That's because it's based almost entirely off of CM-10.1, minus dalvik, and most Android/CM apps/services except the basic low level services. What I don't get yet is why, given that it's basically built on cm-10.1, that it doesn't even support 3G data on any device, and in our case, any data/wifi at all.

From what I've read in another places, WiFi has to be enabled through adb for it to work, possibly data as well, this is for WiFi but i haven't tried it yet:
Enable WIFI:
- adb root
- adb shell
- touch /data/local/userinit.sh
- vi /data/local/userinit.sh and put the following lines
- chmod 755 /data/local/userinit.sh
- reboot
Well shoot I guess this is reason enough for me to power up my Ubuntu machine and get a test area set up....see updated and working .. I'll want to see how it reacts with Ubuntu os and so forth..this has promise can't wait for our the next version....off to the rookie build thread for me

Yes there is a all device ver out there (google it) the down side is that you cant use the store so you cant add game time or gold. When you get the app you get 3 free months so lets hope it gets support before then.

Can you help me out with a little more step by step please.
Im able to download the game from the market by changing my build prop... hence my sig below, but when I run it, it gets stuck after the first splash screen, at an hour glass type icon.... actually its the spinning circle.

All you have to do is change your build.prop file in /system to:
Instead of your device being i510, change it to i500. I'm playing O&C right now.

Uninstall everything.
Delete all data related to the game.
Change build.prop lines to i500
Redownload and install.
Redownload the massive data package over WIFI.
Play game.
Exactly. It will work on this phone. I have to add, this game is freaking awesome. I've been waiting for a mobile version of WoW for years, but I certainly did not expect such a close copy! Lol.

I'm itching to try CM now that it's official, but I depend on my phone and need stability. Does anyone who's tried it have any feedback? Anything broke?
i may have to flash that..
I wouldn't run the official nightlies for the time being until the data and MMS fixes get approved and merged. CVPS (Austin Dickenson) posted an Alpha 2 on his G+ with those fixes above so you would be better off running those.

Yea, wouldn't want those issues. I'd read some about that and assumed that since there was a couple of days between CVPS's fix and the posting of the official nightly that the fix would be included.
So, how actually stable and usable is this then.
I want to get CM10 or paranoidandroid running, but it looks as though its a gigantic pain in the ass right now with all these issues that people talk about.

I dunno, I've been running CM10 for weeks now with basically no problems. MMS is borked, but whatever.
I have seen a MMS fix and also think people are having problems depending on your phone. It will not hurt to flash it and flash back if you have problems.

Here's the code review for the patch:
http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#/c/21492/
In G+ he indicates it is a fix for MMS. Nothing is mentioned about losing IMEI. I haven't read anywhere where anybody has a handle on what causes that issue. It's seemingly random.
This post descibes how to backup and restore EFS:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788443
And this post describes how to restore from scratch using a Windows PC, which isn't a lot of use for us Linux people because a Windows VM in Virtualbox doesn't seem to recognize the phone through USB:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1802024
Personally I think I'm going to wait until the IMES issue gets figured out. Phone runs pretty sweet as-is.

No regrets
I decided to take the plunge last night and have done a reboot with NO ill effects to my MMS or IMEI.
The stock CM camera is amazing. Video, FF and ZERO shutter lag are all present. I was worried about losing some of the touchwiz camera options, but I do not miss them.
Data works, but my room is a deadzone so I'll have to wait until I venture outside to see how capable it is.
Wi-fi seems a tad weaker, but not by much.
All of my apps work (netflix included) and the only "annoying" things I have found so far is HBO go not being compatible and Facebook Sync not working the way I would expect it to. I've read that the FB glitch is due to poor support from the facebook app, so I don't think it's really an issue with the ROM.
There is occasional homescreen glitching, which is very slight and happens almost never. It just causes the screen to flash a little bit. There is a fix for this problem but I think you have to re-apply it after every reboot. Either way, NOT a deal breaker.

Did you install with kexec or just flashed in recovery like normal?
I am now using the other recovery (can't recall the name) as I've read it's better, but I am used to cwm.
If it's just now a simple wipe/install that's fine.

This. It has been up since last night. And it has the same problems but today's/tomorrows merges are fixing them. If you only want one dd to flash, maybe do it Sunday night or Monday morning. Those builds will likely have fixes merged. Or as other have stated use cvpcs prealpha build which is already fixed.

Reunited with my HTC Rezound
I just flashed the latest (as of now, only) CM nightly from their website which requires an UNLOCKED bootloader to be installed on the phone. The EZ unlock app in the market is as dummy proof as it gets. Just make sure your device has root. Also, use CWM recovery provided in the EZ recover app also found in the market. Make sure you flash the right recovery, the first time I didn't check the correct radio button and flashed the stock recovery back onto the phone. That was a bit of a mind-f**k.
After some testing outside of the house I find that it has as good or better network signal than I had with "stock" ROMs. I don't ever recall having 4g with full bars before installing this ROM. The wi-fi still seems weak, but I'm sure it will get tweaked eventually!
I think it's amazing what developers do. Thank you, wherever you are.

This is an early release of CM10.1, so several CM features are missing and this is a WIP.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for anything bad that happens as a result of flashing this, do so at your own risk.
Working:
Phone Calls / SMS
Wifi (doesn't seem to be scanning but it will connect if you manually add a network)
Bluetooth (appears to be working but haven't had a chance to test)
Audio
HW Buttons / Backlights
HW accel.
Sensors
Not working:
Data (obviously)
MMS
Camera
HDMI
GApps: http://goo.im/gapps (Use 4.2)
Build 1 [11/30/12]: http://androtransfer.com/get.php?p=sbrissen/Charge/cm_charge-ota-eng.sbrissen_42_1.zip
Install:
Copy ROM/GApps to sdcard
Reboot into CWM
Flash ROM
Wipe Data (atleast on first install)
Flash Gapps
Boot
Profit
Notes: Since Data is not working, to save battery turn off DataConnection in Mobile Networks settings. To access Developer Options, go to About Phone and tap Build number several times until it tells you you are a developer, then access the options as normal.

Yeah I don't think they want to keep this phone going. They want us to buy new ones. I'm going to have to wait for income tax refund time. That's OK, I really like my phone with Tweaked on it.
The thing I think is funny is the iPhone commercials keep bragging about stuff my poor old Charge already has.
WOW!! I leave the droid charge community for a few months and this is what happens??? Simply incredible. As I have relegated my charge to WIFI only duty this is nearly perfect. The only issue is that it never actually boots. The boot animation just keeps on going and going and going. Does the file system need to be converted to EXT4 before flashing? I'm using the latest 0302 recovery too. Thanks in advance!
Nevermind. Got it up and running. Seems like the recovery updated itself somehow (shrug) and flashed it using the brand new CWM looking recovery and it's working. Can't wait to play around with this later.

Just wondering (I'm not a developer or anything), but to get DATA working couldn't we throw in the Factory Test.apk? I was looking at what was running, and it always is. Then I looked at what it is and it all has to do with the RIL.
I am actually looking into trying this build! I usually have Wi-Fi wherever I go so DATA isn't too big of a problem. If it does ever get fixed I believe this would be the Charge's lifesaver.
Any news on the issue that people are having getting it to install?

FactoryTest is in this build, it is required for secPhone.apk to work. I'm not actually sure if it helps or not but its in there. I'm not sure on the boot issues, after installing I would just make sure to wipe data and it should be fine.

Not sure what's changed in the tree or defconf.
"You should be getting an OTA update soon — if you’re lucky — that will bring your Galaxy S3 to Android 4.1.2. The VRBMB1 build is about 150MB in file size, and for those who are wondering, here’s the full change log:
Keyboard Predictive Text has been improved
Users can take picture while on a call
Manual refresh button has been added to lock screen ticker
E-mail syncing has been improved
Enhanced Bluetooth performance
VZ Navigator and Amazon added to stub applications"
-Android Authority
Seems that is all that was added for now. I was hoping that premium suite would be rolled out sooner. Oh well, the joy of being rooted, and being able to install things like pop up browser anyway.

He makes vinyl signs and oftentimes while out working, speaking to a customer on the phone, it's helpful to be able to take a picture without having to hang up. Sure, not everyone will utilize this feature, but like a dozen other features on your phone, it's great to have them regardless of whether you'll actually use them or not.

Also, a recovery that uses "OpenRecoveryScript", such as TWRP, is recommended. You may try it on CWMR, but it may not be able to flash anything depending on the build.
To use RemoteFlash simply download two files. One is a standalone Java application that you run on your computer. The other file is the RemoteFlash apk. After downloading and installing both programs, run the RemoteFlash apk. You will only need to run the app once. After opening RemoteFlash the first time just reboot your device. As soon as your device boots back up, RemoteFlash will be running. You can then open the PC client and click "Auto-Scan"(It may take anywhere between a second and two minutes to find your device), check/uncheck "Wipe Data/Cache", and click "Go". You will then be prompted to select a file, and it will be flashed directly to your device. Hopefully that's easy enough!
I hope you find RemoteFlash useful! I thought it would help save time and energy, at least for me. As for any issues you may encounter, feel free to post them here. Let me know what you think!
A big shout out goes to SystemErrorOne for his work on the new icon and hopefully his continued contributions! Thank you!

Great work! However, I don't think I will find much use in this, seeing as the phone needs to be used prior to flashing.
Would it be possible to implement something that connects to the phone based on Google account details? This would be similar to remote desktop apps that work anywhere. That way as long as the phone is connected to Wi-Fi the file can be pushed and flashed. I'm not certain that that is a viable option though.

Thanks! Yes, I could leave a socket stream connected to a server to receive updates/Roms over 4G and WiFi, preferably WiFi. User's choice of course. It wouldn't be too difficult. Thanks for the suggestion!

Great! That would change everything as users could flash things to their phones without being present.
Could the wipe data/cache option be implemented such that it could be selected using the PC app?

Yup, I could swap that to the jar. Have you tried the application the way it is now? I think the swaps would be very easy. I could just set it up as an android service, and the user could just forward their port to a public IP. Or it could just listen over port 80 and have a web portal type of thing.

Thank you! Any advice on changes you feel I should make?
Removed. Will add to future features.
RemoteFlash has been updated to V0.5! It now runs in the background and starts at boot. The PC client has also been updated to support PC side Data/Cache Wipe. Give it a try!
Bump!

Ok. Tested on my Galaxy S3. All ran good. Could there be an option for wiping just cache/dev cache? I'm running twrp 2.3.1.0. Device was recognized after about 35 seconds.
I messed around and ticked wipe thinking it was cache/dev cache (totally my fault for rushing). Lol. All good as I just restored my nand.
Will try on my GNote and my SGS4 this evening.
Update: successful flash on both my GNote and SGS4.
