Something keeps shutting sense down - HTC Sensation

Recently I have been getting the white reset screen whenever I close an app. I know this means I have too little ram, but I keep checking and I am never below 100 free ram. Could something in the background be shutting sense down?

Do you use custom or stock rom? Do you have Gingerbread or ICS installed on your device? if you are very desperate, you may try doing a factory reset. If you are using stock ics, not rooted phone, go to DEVELOPER options in SETTINGS and set BACKGROUND PROCESS LIMIT to MAX 4. It helped me as well before I rooted my phone.

I am using arhd 1.2 for tmobile with faux and sense 3.6.

Did you disable MDP? In kernel I mean. It once caused me some problem but I'm not sure of cause too.
And try wiping dalvik and cache. Works too

It has been a while since I installed arhd so I am not sure. I'll check later.

If you haven't, you may want to reflash the rom and say yes to the supercharger option. Or checkout the supercharger thread on XDA.
I have found flashing a supercharged services.jar stops the Sense reloading screen when I'm on a sense 3.6 rom.

[Q] HTC Sense Continually FC'ing ARHD 4.1.5

Hi there,
Running Android Revolution with faux123's latest kernel and recommended radio etc.
Everything is running swimmingly except that HTC Sense occasionally closes while I'm running a program.
It doesn't ruin the phone but it's a huge inconvenience for a custom rom.
It'll also reboot sometimes but that's for another time

Clear data for sense apk in applications/ manage applications/ all apps. Reboot and see what happens. Should fix your issue
Hi.. Do you make full wipe?.. Before flash new rom..
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA Premium App
thanks rddocke, that should work, didn't occur to me :S
@mrboy I did a superwipe and dalvik/cache wipe.
And uhh, mental note for those doing the same, remember your home settings or jot them down somewhere
No problem buddy and you should only superwipe if your flashing a Rom with a different build. Like 3.0 to 3.5 or leedroid to arhd. Not necessary for updates on current Rom. I never superwipe. Don't like the hassle. But there is a program developed by..... I forget sorry!.... But it allows you to restore apps on masses rather than one by one. Which makes restoring from full wipe a lot more convenient
Oh I've got titanium backup which i think created the issue when I restored sense with the data.
My advice to anyone else is. wipe dalvik/cache when changing from same rom type and pick and choose which apps you want to restore WITH data

[Q] Problem with conflicting ROM(help needed)

Hello. I went from the Absolution CM7 7.0.1 stable to RCmix the newest one. And I did a full wipe everything needed. But Parts from the Absolution ROM stuck with the RCmix and I lost root.
I was just wondering what I should to get everything to normal. Back to root and on RCmix
When I type SU into terminal I get this message (Segmentation Fault)
TLDR; conflicting roms after flash, lost root.

Your sure you did a factory reset??? IV been all over the place, and never had a problem flashing a new rom...
Boot into Clockwork mod and format everything except your sd card. Then install the ROM. Factory reset and format are two different things.
I went back to the previous ROM and root and everything came back. I flashed RCmix again. After full wipe and all. Problems came back. Could it just be the rom?
Have you tried to enable superuser in the settings of the app?

Certain Roms I've noticed need an update within the Super User app. Try that too and get back to us.

Just to clarify.......WHAT parts come back when you flash a new ROM? HTC Sense will restore some settings and Google will attempt to install some apps after logging into both.
Same issue here, I lost my root when I installed this ROM I tried updating SU but I got an error of some sort, a little frustrating. Going to install I didfferent ROM

Pretty sure I remember having to uninstall and re install super user and then update binary from program before I could have root access on rcmix. As for settings coming back, its all tied to your google account. Whatever you've setup in settings menu will resync. Also if you do not select "wipe data/factory reset" your android.secure folder stays intact, which can cause issues.

What parts remained? What are the steps that you do to do a full wipe? More information will always help to give a correct answer.

Random freezes!

Hello everyone I'm new to this so here goes. Arhd 6.1.5 I would randomly get freezes ever so often I ignored however because I saw 6.2..I downloaded 6.2 and I super wiped. And flashed the correct radio. But I am still getting random freezes forcing me to pull battery. The freezes usually happen when I lock my screen and go to unlock it. The 4 capacitive buttons light up then It freezes. I don't understand why I keep getting freezes. Starting to happen more often now with 6.2 also I tried turning my CPU settings Down but still no help.

When you say you superwiped before install do you also wipe data, cache, dalvik cache and battery stats(just because lol)...do you also restore any data and/apps with tibu

I wiped everything since I had problems with this rom at version 6.1.5 so i went ahead and wiped everything and downloaded all my stuff again to see if this helped, but it did not work. I don't use titanium backup. I figured just wiping everything and redownloading all my stuff would work, I did have a backup though just in case it didnt work, so I restored that after I saw I still got freezes.
Have you tried other roms or kernels? I'd suggest Coredroid. I've tried several others and find it to be the most stable.

are you OCing or UVing? Have you changed radios/kernels recently? I know when I UVing too much my phone loves to freeze. I would say try a ROM that doesn't OC out of the gate as believe ARHD has there rom set to 1.2 I think? I know Bindroid keeps theres at about stock and is extremely stable.
i have a similar problem. can I set the cpu back to stock level on ARHD using OCDaemon?

Phone freezing and unresponsive

My girlfriend's Skyrocket starting tonight has been freezing while the screen is locked. It won't wake by pressing the button immediately, but opens briefly after maybe 30 seconds. I pull the battery and restart and it worked fine for about two hours and did it again.
Any ideas? I have her fix permissions but it keeps coming back.
I feel bad because she was fine with stock but I convinced her to let me root it!
Unlocked, rooted, stock rom.
wipe cache and dalvik cache? Any new apps or changes that have been done recently?

this happens to mine maybe once every two weeks, so it is so few and far between that i dont mind. using nexusmod gb.
whenever it freezes, i hold down the home button to see which apps are running and attempt to close them, but it takes too long and i just yank the battery. the only common app that is always running during every freeze is 'phone'.

Rooting wont freeze your phone, that's something to do with the ROM. Did you make a CMW backup before rooting? If yes, then you can boot into recovery, perform a factory reset 3 times, then wipe cache 3 times, then wipe davlik cache 3 times, then restore from the backup, reboot back to recovery and flash the radio (the ICS radio's ) work with GB so you can chose one from them.
If you haven't made a backup, you can download the stock 2.3.5 rom from sammobile, install it, and then do the update to 2.3.6.
Also dont restore apps, using Titanium backup, it causes issues. You can use superbackup to restore, call logs, sms and contacts, that's what I use.
If you would like to try a ICS rom, you can install Sky ICS 4.2E, there is an update 4.2F but it kept crashing so I am on 4.2E runs butter smooth as the stock GB.
All custom ROMS you can find in the Android Development Section
Unless she is going to run themes on AOSP, she probably won't get much other benefit from root. Sounds like she just wants stable, stock. I learned that lesson the hard way with my wife...every time she ran into a glitch! Otherwise, SkyICS is going to be your best bet for the least problems. My wife has been using it with no complaints... yet.

SkyICS 4.2F is running far more flawlessly than all other sky roms. The vast majority of users have no issues. It's based on an official release, not a leaked release. Those users with issues are normally at fault, not the rom; and these issues are usually easily fixed.
Don't be afraid of 4.2F.

Apps Not Starting -.-

I've treid to flash both CM9 & CM10 and it worked, exept that ΒΌ of my apps won't start. They start for one second, and then, the show either an FC message or just close without any message. I've tried to wipe the data for some apps, but that don't change anything. The apps are restored with TitaniumBackup. I've always returned back to ViperS because of that problem, so does anybody now how to get rid of that problem and make the apps run again?

Did u flash gapps?
Sent from my HTC Sensation using Tapatalk 2
Some apps dont work with backup programs because they tether themselves to the device ID. That way they can't be passed around to multiple phones and have to be downloaded fresh for all users.
When you flash a new rom the device id changes, so the app thinks its on a new phone.
Titanium has an option to revert to a previous device id in the paid version.
Still, a quarter of your apps seems like alot. If you are trying to restore system apps that's a whole different issue. System apps dont transfer well.
And any sensed based apps from Viper will simply never work in CM. Ever. That is probably the bulk of your problem apps im guessing.

Yes! Gapps is flashed. I do only restore user apps .. I'll try to find the device id option and try again
