Sport armbands for Nexus 4 - Nexus 4 Accessories

Hi everybody,
If you are looking for an armband for your Nexus 4 I could recommend you one of those two. I tested both with a bumper on my phone and both work fine. Phone fits tight. Tune Belt seems to be crafted slightly better. Arkon has wider plastic screen and is cheaper.
Tune Belt:

Arkon:
http://www.amazon.com/XXL-ARMBAND-A...id=1361744928&sr=8-2&keywords=nexus+4+armband

I was just thinking of going running next month to get in shape! But I thought the Nexus 4 was too ridiculously huge to run with. I'm a short guy 5'6".

I'm 5'6" run with it in hand. Prefer that, but I wish I could find a hand strap like an old Sony sports cassette Walkman from the 80s.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium

I used to run with phone in my hand but it was to awkward for me. Armand and bluetooth headset is a perfect combination.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app

I'm curious, I run with my N4 on a waist pouch and use Bluetooth earphones. Doesn't the armband get annoying? After I put enough mileage on a run even my shirt bugs me. I would think a phone strapped to my arm would drive me nuts. Thoughts?

It fits Nexus 4 perfectly (when not in a case). You'll have to make a little hole in the fabric for the headphone jack (I used one of those thingies to make holes in belts with), other than that a perfect fit. Been using it a week without issues.

Any recommended armbands for the N4 in the original bumper?

I've had good success with PDO: http://www.amazon.com/Sporteer-Armband-Samsung-Large-Screen-Smartphones/dp/B00D614GBE
Edit: It fits a naked N4.

Anything that fits a Galaxy S3 will also fit a Nexus 4. If you want an armband that will fit the Nexus 4 with a bumper on, you will probably need an arm band that can fit a Galaxy Note. The bumper adds quite a bit of thickness to the phone.

I use a Tune Belt AB85, it's pretty big capacity wise so I don't need to take my case off.
It's designed for thick cases, so I've actually padded mine out with a bit of foam, which has the added bonus of moving the phone away from my sweaty arm.

I have http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0071C9B0U/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 its a little too snug for my liking with the bumper but it works. Looks they have some larger sizes now.

Ringke Hybrid Case fits Tune Belt
I have this case "Google Nexus 4 Ringke [Fusion] Premium Hybrid Hard Case" and just bought Tune Belt with Extender. It fits perfectly. Love this combination.

I brought one of these for my N4. Can't recommend enough!
I have been looking for something this simple. Thanks for the link I just bought one. Note that there's a small note on the site saying #76 fits the N4.
tempted to order one, do you guys think N4+rearth slim case fit the default N4 size. Or should I get the bigger one, eg One X.. hmm

I purchased a leather sleeve from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00992V0WW/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00) but it was too snug (yes, I realize the leather would break-in) but it was VERY difficult to remove the phone and frequently the power/volume buttons would get pressed in doing so.
I just ordered one of these (#76); can't wait to get it! $12 seems like a nice price shipped as well (sorry non-US persons).

I will be interested in how it works. If the mofi pouch does not work with my diztronic TPU case, I might do the same.
PS You can contact them with the exact measurements of your encased N4. They will verify what size will work best.

I just got back an e-mail from Waterfield about the bumper + phone fit and their phone. I had found the dimensions to the phone with the bumper on from a another thread (and am assuming that they're true).
Thanks for checking in with us. You'd probably have to go with a bigger size because our #76 size is meant to be a snug fit the Nexus 4 naked, i.e. without case. So anything bigger would be too tight or not fit at all.
You're on the right track to give me the new measurements of your phone with case on. Based on those specs, it looks like the closest fit would be our #84 size which was made for the Samsung Galaxy Note (5.78" x 3.26" x 0.38" in).

I've had one of these sleeves for my Nexus S. Overall it was very minimal and was perfect for what I wanted (although it did gather a lot of dust on it). But, I am not sure about going with something that doesn't fit so snug - as there's nothing keeping the phone in the sleeve besides the cloth itself.
I have a pouch 73 (for S3) and am sad to report that NO the pouch no longer fits when the phone has the official bumper on. The pouch needs to be about 80mm width in order to fit the phone.

Any good kickstand cases for S4 ?

I'm looking for something like this :
http://www.amazon.com/Aduro-Holster...67243950&sr=8-10&keywords=galaxy+s4+kickstand
The design of the case is perfect, not very thick, can kickstand portraid/landscape, and even use it as a hook for a firmer grip. But to me it is a very cheap looking / feeling case I want something more premium with the same functionality ?

A little on the pricey side, but they make great cases.
I bought the Seidio Active combo w/ kickstand this morning. I had an Active on my Nexus S for 2 years, very durable case...

The Seidio Surface case with the kickstand arrived today. I was a little worried about how much the kickstand would protrude, but it's only about 2 mm, so I'm glad I got it. I've also used Seidio cases for many years. My last one (S2) is still as good as new and I've had it since the phone was released for Sprint. Aside from the durability, I use multiple batteries and their cases are quick to take on and off.

Ringke Fusion ($13.99) vs Official Bumper ($12.95)

I was wondering which case is better than the other?
I'm looking to keep the nexus 4 slim, sexy, and functional.
I narrowed it down to these two cases because of the clicky tactile feels (on the fusion revision) and the original bumper while maintaining slimness.
I got the bumper a week after I received my phone. Well, not the official one, but a replica of the LG one that's sold in the Play Store. The one I received off Amazon seemed fine, but after about a week of normal use, 2 cracks appeared - one on the bottom where the USB is, and the other on the power button.
I think that they appeared because of plugging in the phone and clicking the power button turning it on and off. The material (metal-looking plastic) that surrounds the bumper is flimsy on it's own, and with a certain amount of pressure and heat from the phone, it's prone to cracking.
If you Google around you'll find that a lot of people have had the same problem with the official one. I bought the same bumper for my friend too, but his is holding up well so far, so I'm not sure. The bumper seemed to have a tighter fit on his N4 whereas mine felt a little loose. He has been using it for a couple months as his was the first wave of N4 that were shipped out. I just got mine a little less than a month ago.
Switched over to the Ringke Fusion based on the number of excellent reviews it got both on XDA and Amazon. Took about a week to get here and because it is the revision, the buttons are clicky and give a good feedback. The case also doesn't add much bulk at all. While I do like the heft of carrying around the phone naked, the glass panels scare me. I never used cases on my old phones, but then again, they were plastic and metal. They sure could take a hit!
The Fusion makes the N4 feel more solid as it is, and it works well with wireless chargers. The only complaint I have about it is the back clear plastic tends to dirty quite easily, with scuffs, fingerprints. But then again, who takes time out of their day to gander at the back of the phone. Sure it's pretty but you'll be spending more of your time messing around with the front.

I remember when i bought my N4, I kept buying different bumpers because either they were too tight [messed up my screen protector], too bulky or did not protect my phone good enough. In January, I bought Ringke Fusion; been using it since then . Its not one of those cheap bumpers, you will definitely feel the quality. Its fits the phone very well and you wont feel the size of it in your hand or in your pocket.

It's a replica. The real ones are sold on the play store. If it says official elsewhere and is less than the price you would normally pay, chances are it's not official. Anyone can say it's official but it isn't.

LOL I would personally get the Fusion, and yes, most bumpers online are replicas even if they are in LG packaging. The normal bumpers cost about 20bux (USD) so that's a good gauge in authentic or not.
There's a thread somewhere comparing the packaging but basically, if there's a holo sticker on the back, mine is square that reads "Original accessories by LG".
GL
Bumper
Wider
Looks better
Less protection
Ringke
Better protection
Lets you create custom designs to insert behind the plastic
horrible protruding creases on the back of the case. - rough to the touch
picks up fingerprints and dust way too easily.
I use bumper for everyday use and if i'm going to be somewhere outside for a long while where i won't have a place to put my phone safely away i use the ringke.

Otterbox Defender Series Too Expensive ($70!)

http://www.otterbox.com/Galaxy-Note-4-Defender-Series-Case/sam2-galaxy-note-4-set,default,pd.html
Isn't this case too pricey?!
This is the only case you will ever need, guaranteed.
It is a little high. Your paying for top of the line. Port covers, holsters, lots of unique color choices and a screen protector. The case looks well made. For me note 2 I spent over 50 for my case and holster. The one I brought was good but this one looks better. I'd consider it if it had a kick stand.
The price should come down in a few months but I don't think it's really overpriced.
Or just grab a UAG case and get similar protection for half the price (and better looks).

It's certainly pricier than other models but one thing they appear to have accounted for is the fingerprint scanner. It looks like the case is notched right below it. Fingerprint scan worked fine on my Note 4 until I threw the Spigen Tough Armor case on. Now I can't get a consistent swipe.

I used to have this case for the Galaxy S3. It was really sturdy but one thing I didn't like is how the TPU/rubber material eventually would not stick/pulled away from the phone and I had to keep pushing in that rubber/TPU material all the time. It was pretty pricey to have to deal with that type of problem.
When I got my Note 3, I tried a few cases and eventually stuck with the Urban Armor Gear. I kept it because it was sturdy, felt good in the hand, saw different drop tests on Youtube, and was Military drop-test certified. I kept that case and also the case with the Zero Lemon extended battery since it was sturdy, covered the ports, and looks to be able to take drops as well.
The Rubber/TPU material is something I never favored either, haha

If Otterbox fixed that issue, it would be the perfect case(although still pricey).
I would recommend the Urban Armor Gear if you haven't tried it before. The only bad thing is that it doesn't have covers for the ports, but it's still a great case. I had the white/Navigator case for the Note 3 and for the Note 4 I decided to order this one:

For all complaining about the TPU cover stretching out on an Otterbox, you know all you have to do is take a picture of it with your info and Otterbox sends you another outer case free of charge. On my S3, I had mine and my wife's outer case, holster etc... replaced multiple times even after a year. So for $59 you paying for lifetime of support and free replacement with minimum hoop jumping.

That case does come with a holster but according to the seller does not have a kickstand unfortunately. It is the only holster case I've been able to find with headphone, mini USB & S Pen port covers. I'm waiting until the 22nd when it's available fulfilled by Amazon to see if anything else becomes available and if not I'll order it.
It is possible that case will stand up in the landscape mode when the belt clip is rotated to align with the holster clip on the side. My BodyGlove ToughSuit does that and it was not listed as a feature on Amazon when I bought it.
I've read Otterbox reviews in the past that state their cases become loose and I think their price is ridiculous.
If you can wait one of the holster/case Platinum Series Best Buy sells is made by Seidio and has a kickstand. It's the Seido convert combo. Best Buy sells it for $20 less than Seidio.

Holster Case

Just picked up the phone and I am looking for a good case. I always keep phone on the hip, wondering if there is a good holster case for the phone that isn't too bulky. I've never been a huge fan of Otterbox cases but if that's all that is both durable and a holster I guess I will consider it.

Supcase makes a decent one that is thinner than the otterbox. The only downsides of that I've seen is that no matter which way you put the phone in the holster, the volume buttons can be pressed. The advantage I see with the otterbox if that the phone can be locked in screen out and the holster used as a kickstand. I personally prefer the otterbox but you will pay more. And the otterbox when I looked was only available from Motorola and otterbox.
Try seidio. They have one that I use and have used for years for different phones. The one for the Moto x pure edition makes the phone less slippery to me. I usually buy an extra holster because I am hard on them and the spring clip breaks eventually.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't think Seidio made for the 2015, but will look again. I've always had pretty good luck with their products. Will compare that and the Otterbox if I can find it.

Seido does make one. They sell the case and holster both individually and as a combo
Supcase holster and case can be modified actually . I just took a hack saw to the other tab that would cover the volume and power keys . The only downside is you are left releasing the phone from one side only and in one orientation . If this isnt a problem for you . Then this will be a fix for you . Also removal of the built in screen shield is a pain in the ass . Otherwise I love mine since I modified it
Good to hear that there are cases available. Do any of them work with a GPS type mount for a car? Not sure if one even exists that fits the phone either way.

Not sure about GPS mounts. I've seen a few that claim to work with phones with 6 inch screens (i.e. Nexus 6) and they might be big enough.
For the car, check out the arkon MG279.
Holsters
I use a NiteIze holster http://www.niteize.com/product/Clip-Case-Cargo-Mobile-Device-Holsters.asp - the extra tall one. I've used their other holsters for previous phones and they work quite well at protecting the phone.

^^The "double wide" works well with this phone too.
If you want to carry your phone without a case but in a holster, this Note 5 spring clip holster works great with the Moto X Pure:

Thanks. That's a good find, might pick it up.

My Seidio Note 4 holster I was using for my MXP just broke. I'm giving this one a try. Holsters always break around the clip. I'm hoping this one is strong as advertised.

The Note 5 holster really is a perfect fit and better than a Note 4 holster.
