[Q] Why isn't LMT Launcher working from boot? - HTC Inspire 4G

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
There's the thread for the LMT Launcher; I followed the instructions, I followed Zedomax's video tutorial on YouTube, but after I install it, I open the app and it leads me to a black screen. I touched the screen a couple times and it somehow "started touchservice" and I had pie control. I can turn pie control off in the same fashion, but I can't customize it or even see the LMT Launcher screen... What should I do?
My phone is rooted using AAHK; my rom is Sabsa Prime v14 which has been working near flawlessly.
I'm new to this, and I'm not one to ask questions on here (this is literally my first), but I could not find anybody with a similar problem. Thanks in advance for any help.

My hunch is that LMT wouldn't work as well on non-AOSP ROMs, like the Sense-based Sabsa.

Ah, so basically my only solution is to run a different rom. Is there any way I could stay with something sense 4 based but more compatible? Anything recommended? I'd rather have sense 4 than LMT but pie control would be nice...

Definitely note that it's just a hunch on my part, and that hunch is only because I haven't seen PIE on non-AOSP ROMs thus far; that doesn't mean it's completely impossible.

Ah, I had completely forgotten that I had posted this thread. It was simply a problem specific to the rom; v15 fixed it and it's working soundly.

I thought so too, so I tried it on a One X running a custom JB Sense ROM (ViperX). It worked perfectly. So I guess it works fine on all Sense ROMs 4.0+. About LMT not starting on boot, there is a slightly obscure autostart option which I think the OP didn't enable. On recent LMT versions however there's an easy toggle for it.

[Q] Disable Sense 3.0

So i've just come from a GS2 to a Sensation XE and i'm adjusting back to the sense way of life(i used to have a Desire).
Unfortunately i'm not adjusting too well is there a way to disable sense totally to use a launcher as i'm not to keen on rooting it just yet.

Just download which ever launcher you choose then download an app called home switcher. It will allow you to easily enable the launcher app and set it up as your defeault launcher.

Sense is not just a launcher, so you can't just disable it. You can put a launcher over Sense though.
But I would suggest putting a custom ROM and removing all the annoying parts of Sense, while keeping the good ones. No-sense script from Revolution HD does that quite well
hmm looks like i'm gonna have to read up on rooting then go for it.
Can anyone suggest any stable highly rated ROMs? Between reading up on how to root and custom ROMs available my head is starting to hurt
TIA
You don't like sense so I recommend Cyanogenmod.. It's stable and fast. I use MIUI and love it but there is some parts not fully working yet.
CM is for you if you want 100% of Sense removed. But if you want a bit more "stock" experience, try Revolution HD 4.X with no-sense.
Heck, try both, or more, you'll learn a lot and figure out what you really like. It's actually quite simple once you get the basics

Definitely go with CM7. It's the best ROM available.

Xposed for 6.0

I'm rooted on stock with twrp, wanted to install some tweaks for the reboot menu and status bar and I know we need xposed for it.
Can anyone guide me as to how to install it? I've read tutorials but wanted to ask the people here. I'm new to this phone.
Much thanks

good info, im just not sure why people use xposed as opposed to a custom ROM with the features that theyre looking for baked into the ROM
Because sometimes, there are many things "cooked", and if I need 1 or 2 mods, then I don't need to deal with all the bugs that came with custom ROMs.

thats pretty fair, but i dont really get many (if any) bugs with custom ROMsif installed correctly. Im not bashing xposed, i just think that custom ROMs are the way to go for my taste
plus, in my experience, using xposed on a stock rom is better, you don't have to deal with any bugs

It can screw things up fast and often! Haha. I use XPosed purely for boot manager and greenify. Those are safe on any rom. Unfortunately there are so many modules you can use on your phone that aren't meant for it. If you're not happy to screw things up to learn what works than it can be a huge headache. Lol. I gave up screwing with many of the modules. Oh. I also use it for no ads and background play for YouTube.

As I've seen... I'm using the s5 for a second phone while my first is a note 5 which is the best phone I've used, after I had to give away my note 7.
And also that the camera on the s5 is not bad either... I just don't like it when it asks me to hold the device steady while it's taking a photo...

no, im on resurrection remix nowadays and very much miss the TW camera. I ran MOAR for over a year and wanted to try out the AOSP ROMs that everyone was ranting about, and i rather enjoy several things about RR, but the camera is rather lackluster on AOSP. TW ROMs have access to the stock Samsung camera, which is awesome!! I really havent found much that just WOWs me about AOSP vs MOAR other than the fact that MOAR isnt being updated anymore (yes, you jsut witnessed someone remind themselves about why they decided on something that they had totally forgotten LoL) I spent a little time finding out if one could port the stock TW cam to AOSP, but apparently its not possible

Why custom room?

I see a few "home-brewed" roms out there but not with their difficulties to install and possible soft bricking.
I don't see any of these roms beating out simply sticking with stock, rooting, exposed framework w/ gravity box, V4A, and secure settings.
This is all that is needed for me to be happy. Until an official rom comes out that has this phone figured out with gapps and have all these mods built in and a bit safer to flash, then maybe then.
So, all in all, I'm happy until this happens. Any one else happy with their set up as of now and if an official rom comes then fine time to play some more?

Because custom rooms on phones are much cooler. You can flash any color paint you want on the walls and even flash yourself a man cave. J/K. But seriously, this is the first phone I have ever owned that I'm actually satisfied with the stock Android experience. When I was using an HTC Evo 3D back in the day, I grew quite fond of MIUI so I would love to see an Oreo version of that down the line. For now I'm sticking with stock. I never tried Lineage OS so I may try that as things progress, but not as a daily driver. There is a version of Lineage for my Nvidia Shield TV that I may duel boot to and play with before I try it on my Pixel.

There are a lot of MIUI launchers, if that's the experience you're looking for - see https://play.google.com/store/search?q=miui launcher . (An app is an app, regardless of which phone it's running on, so the fact that a particular app is running in an HTC won't change anything about it much, if at all, it's just the launcher that makes the real difference.)

What I was actually stating is that the stock Pixel ROM is actually quite nice and useable even for a power user. Whereas the stock ROM for other phones I've owned were the opposite so I actually needed to run a 3rd party ROM to truly enjoy my phone. As far as MIUI, the launcher was not the reason I liked it so much. In fact, I really enjoy the Pixel launcher. (#1) When running a real MIUI ROM you have the ability to master toggle Root. This is a security feature and you can turn root off entirely when not needed and turn it on only when needed. (#2) The built in firewall is very handy. It not only allows you to select which apps can connect to the internet and which ones cannot but specifically which app processes can and cannot. I am able to stop Google services from sending anonymous info behind the scenes while keeping basic functionality of Gapps. (#3) The built in permission manager. Much more advanced than the permission manager on our Pixel 2 phones being that on MIUI there is a list of permissions most people don't know exist. These permissions are not configurable and hidden in most ROMs such as the ability turn off an apps access to your phones unique ID (IMEI, serial #, etc). These advanced permissions can be configured for both user and system apps alike. Again, just giving an app the bare minimum permissions it needs to function correctly without anything extra or intrusive. In addition, I really like the settings menu layout as well as additional settings not found in most AOSP ROMs. However, the last version of MIUI I really used like this was Jelly Bean based so I can only imagine how far it has come since then and I'm looking forward to trying an Oreo based version on my Pixel some time in the future.
I was about to purchase pixel 2 this weekend. While big brother (pixel 2 XL) having certain screen QC issues, I was thinking to get smaller one (even though - not big fan of small screen, small battery and huge bezels, but whatever). I remember my good old days with Nexus 5 with tons of custom ROMs. I was thinking the is going on right now with pixel 2 family.
I was shocked that there''re no custom ROMs so far. Wow... Even TWRP is in beta stage, but pixel 2 has been released months ago. That's weird....
Am I missing smth or got blind all of sudden? Why there''re no custom ROMs???

Why custom Rom for Oneplus 6???

Hello Mates,

Why should i flash a custom Rom to my Oneplus 6? I would like to know your opinion….

For the same reason as on different devices. Even though OOS is probably one of the best Android flavours, there are many more UI/Performance/Battery tweaks on Havoc for example, which is probably the best custom ROM right now. If you don't want always-on-display, advanced UI tweaking, or you don't need extra features like Smart Pixels, different kind of navbars and recents layouts, you should probably stay with OOS.
They way we interact with our phone is kind of just personal preference. Different ROMs have different layouts/options. I like how when you go to recent apps with OmniTreskmod it also displays recent apps that you can quick launch.

That has nothing to do with omni treskmod though. It can be found on almost all custom roms, including Havoc OS.

My point is that we use custom ROMs to interact with our phone in different ways, and that the ROM we choose is personal preference.
With that said I've tried 4 different ROMs, Havoc included, and I didn't experience the recent/home/appdrawer interaction like treskmod uses. It's the only ROM i love to use the android pill navigation gesture with.

Pixel Experience is awesome too, regarding pill navigation !
It's my favourite, just because it's a different experience, and, to answer the OP, this is why you flash ROMs AOSP ROMs can be quite similar to one another, this one stands up from the crowd in my eyes, and it's still balzingly fast, with battery backup similar to OOS, and Pixel 3 features, love it.
In the end, i fully agree : You flash ROMs based on personal taste, to get the experience you want from your device. Be it having tons of options, performance, or something different.
Can't wait for Paranoid Android though ... Last time i used it, they were inventing Heads-Up notifications, floating windows, and Card Style recents, before Google even thought of it ... And i miss Halo, this was so ahead of it's time, just like Pie Gestures

I use to think the same way. After flashing AOSiP I regretted not flashing a custom ROM earlier.
There is far more customizations that can be done to your phone in terms of theming and functionality. For example I can now finally long press my volume key to play the next track for a song.
Overall look and feel of the phone software is much more sleek. Animations are much smoother and it feels very polished as if I'm using a pixel. Latency appears to be great as well but I'm not the best at calculating such.
Battery life use to be bad on custom ROMs but now they're all just as good as OOS if not better. In my case it was better. I use to sometimes be at 75% left with only one hour SoT. Now I can be at almost 2 hours at that point. Same kernel on both.
Overall for me personally it completely enhanced every little thing about the phone. It's no different than what it was back in the day when it comes to reasons. Although OOS is pretty dark good as it is, not to knock it down from this post.

I've tried Pixel experience ROM and it didn't behave this way. I've also tried the xXxNoLimits ROM with Pixel Launcher enabled by default, and it also didn't have this. Strange, Pixel Experience behaves like, well, a Pixel phone ! It always had and still has the drawer integrated into the recents screen.
About xXx, it's normal. The launcher needs to also be the recents provider for the system, so either it's the system main launcher, or you can use a Magisk module to change this.

Ok, thank you for your answer
When I bought the phone, I was very happy with it, because stock OOS is smooth and stable. So I just flashed magisk. After a few months I missed the features which custom rom brings, but I also wanted good camera and battery life. That's why I tried almost all ROMs and Ports for the OP6 and now I'm back to treskmod. This is definitely the best ROM in my eyes. It's very stable and smooth and battery friendly. It has the costumizations I wanted and looks like Stock Pixel. There is one update per week and that's cool. I'm a flashaholic and need at least one update in week, lol ^^

Animation anomaly after Oneplus Launcher update V4.4.47/8

Having an issue here with what is best described as an animation anomaly.
There was recently an Oneplus launcher update V4.4.47. After running the update my 3rd party launchers exhibit a peculiar blinking when closing out apps using gestures (swiping up from the center of the bottom of the screen).
Now, I have my animator scale animation set to 0.5. When set to 1.0 the blinking doesn't occur, so this issue is definitely as a result of the reduced animation scale. I'm really not a fan of fancy animations so would hate to permanently run at 1.0. Having said that, the blinking really cheapens the ride and detracts from the over all user experience.
Anyone able to replicate or is already experiencing this on their OP 7 Pro? Nova, Niagara, Squarehome launcher all exhibit the same anomaly. Oneplus native launcher works perfectly.
My setup: Oneplus 7 Pro, rooted, Magisk 20.4, TWRP latest version, Firmware 10.3.3 21AA, No Limits xXx 11.4 (issue persists on stock setup though), stock kernel....
I've recorded a short video illustrating the issue.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=detUAaAJSyQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbTJArwCxMU
If absolutely no one else can replicate this issue, then the issue must be mine to own and resolve via a clean install... anyone?
Im on 0.25 Animation rate and doest have this... Also on 0.5or 1.0 nothing..
yes, it is happening to me as well. it is normal because of android 10 launcher and recents integration. i think you can solve this by quickswitch magisk module with a supported launcher like lawnchair 2. But there is no fix with nova launcher.

Thing is I can replicate the issue using 3 different launchers, Niagara, Nova and Squarehome. Also if I revert to an older version of Oneplus Launcher IE any version before 4.4.47, it works perfectly....
I've read of Android 10 and gesture issues with 3rd party launchers, but I'm not sure that is what I'm experiencing here...?
I could be wrong of course...
Hell man, so I did a fresh install, no change. Definitely this OnePlus launcher update that is causing this animation anomaly. Reported it as a bug over at OnePlus.

Nothing like a fresh install though. Using stock launcher, this year old phone still remains a beast!! Love it!!

Yeah, I am seeing this too. Thing is though it doesn't happen every time on mine but probably 8/10 times.
I'd be happy with stock launcher tbh but for the shelf over the Google feed.

I'm finding myself using stock launcher more often too.
As good as Nova is, stock just that little bit more accurate and responsive. The animations are so incredibly smooth and clean vs Nova. I'm finding it hard to resist. Just hope OP sort this out soon.

Yes hope this also. Its better than on the beginning but third party launchers that are smooth on other devices feels slower on this phone...
How animations should behave. This is Nova with OnePlus launcher version 4.1.3 installed.

Am sticking to version 4.1.3, hoping this gets resolved but not holding my breath. It's a bug that barely even registers on the radar...
No one else experiencing anything similar?
Hi, have the same issue but while using the stock launcher from one plus. Sometime when I leave an app the app drawer refreshes. Or instead of leaving the app and go to the homepage it launch one of the apps in the background. I think it is happening since a month now. Very weird issue it use to be the most perfect launcher i ever had. You think it's related to the launcher version? If so where do u find the latest version without theses bugs?
I'm on 4.4.2 I tried to install this:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/onepl...213049-b383d6d-android-apk-download/#variants
But it says, app not installed... Do I need root to install it?

Latest official version is available on the PlayStore, 4.4.8, release date 29th May 2020... Are you running a beta? And what model OP?
I have the one plus 7 pro with the lastest official OTA 10.0.6 no root.
I figured out to install that .apk I had to unistall the updates one plus launcher via the PlayStore first . So now i'm running 4.5.4.200618213049.b383d6d beta. So far I have not encountered theses bug but its only been few hours of usage.

Good to hear, I might give it a bash too... Pretty desperate, although there's nothing really wrong with version 4.1.3...
